However, as earlier cases did not involve any major mishaps, they were not widely covered. Not many people were aware of this issue.Latest incident of Ola electric scooterOla’s official statementThe recent case was different, as the rider had suffered life threatening injuries and was admitted to ICU. In its official statement, Ola has stated that they have provided all the necessary support to the family of the rider involved in the accident. Ola has also informed that the rider is safe and is recovering.Talking about the incident, Ola says that vehicle safety and quality standards are their highest priority. Top-spec Ola S1 Pro electric scooter has the highest quality standards in all aspects. Moreover, it has been tested across challenging terrains and all-weather conditions. The scooter has been rigorously tested for more than 5 million km.Ola Electric official statementOla’s view about the front fork breakage issue is that such cases are rare and involve high impact accidents. Ola has more than 1.5 lakh scooters on the roads and only a few had the front fork issue. Ola says that the front fork arm has been tested with loads that are 80% more than the loads usually encountered by such scooters.However, as a precautionary measure and to assure community members, Ola has offered to get the scooters checked via their service network. Ola has also urged users to follow road safety protocols and wear a helmet.Possibility of manufacturing defects?As other users have also reported similar cases, it is possible that a specific batch of front forks may have manufacturing defects. Some people are also pointing fingers at the fact that Ola S1 and S1 Pro have only a single fork setup.     Ola Electric Scooter Sales 2022 At 1.5 Lakh – Future Plans Revealed

    It won’t be until 2026 that we will see a mass-market electric car from the Indian EV startup, Ola ElectricOla Electric ScooterAfter launching Move OS 3 for its customers, Ola Electric is bracing for the future. The company recently launched a new electric scooter named S1 Air at a low Rs. 80,000 price point (introductory). This way, Ola is set to bring EVs to an even larger segment of buyers.Despite setbacks like suspension failure, software errors, etc Ola has moved ahead in the game. It is currently the highest-selling electric 2W brand in India with over 16,000 units sold in its name last month. Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal revealed in a blog post that in just a year, 2W EVs penetration increased to 6%, from 1%.1.5 Lakh Scooters in 2022Ola Electric has revealed that they sold almost 1,50,000 electric scooters in 2022. This number is set to increase in 2023. In the same blog post, Ola’s future roadmap was revealed to great extent which includes vehicles in both 2W and 4W realm and in both mass market and premium segments. Let’s take a look.Aggarwal never dropped an opportunity to signify “The end of ICE era” and the same was reflected in this blog post. Mission Electric by Ola is set to replace all 2W with e-2W by 2025 and all 4W by e-4W by 2030. Even though this is not entirely feasible with developing markets like India, there is hope.Ola Electric Future Launch PlanUnder ACC PLI scheme, Ola has been allocated to manufacture batteries with a capacity of up to 20 GWh capacity by Indian Government. This will be the first stepping stone for Ola in making EVs accessible to masses. With indigenously designed and developed batteries and heavy localisation, battery prices will reduce, reducing the overall cost of an EV.Future RoadmapIn the blog post, 6 future Ola products were demonstrated falling under different segments and different price points. To kick things off, Ola is set to offer a mass-market electric scooter in 2023. This will be targeted at ICE scooters with up to 110cc of displacement which are generally priced at around Rs. 70,000 price point.2024 will mark Ola’s foray into electric motorcycles. The company is set to launch one premium motorcycle that is likely to cater to enthusiasts and then a mass-market electric motorcycle that might cater to premium commuter buyers. In 2025, Ola will launch a premium electric car, which has been teased multiple times and then a premium electric SUV.Lastly, the year 2026 will mark Ola’s entry into the mass-market electric cars segment which will be a lot more widespread than it currently is. It used to take 5 seconds and now only takes 4.5 seconds. Other performance updates include Hypercharging compatibility allowing Ola scooters to lap up 50 km of range in just 15 minutes. With better torque mapping and charging algorithms, users now have a 2% to 5% better range as well.Performance gets a boost of 20% in Sports mode and 10% in Hyper mode. Earlier, top speed was capped at 40 km/h in Eco mode, which saw a boost as well. Multiple users feature allows different settings per user and proximity lock and unlock allows locking and unlocking within proximity of the key.Added FeaturesUsers can use hazard lights, and wifi, get call notifications, and also store and display important documents on digital display like DL, insurance copy and the likes. Ola Move OS 3 adds moods, which are basically switchable themes – Vintage, Bolt and Eclipse. Each of these get a different lock and unlock sound, charging sound and motor sound.Other added features include vacation mode, which when toggled, will stall deep discharge till 200 days of inactivity and Party mode. Speaking of, Party mode is purely gimmicky. It synchronizes lights and combines them with songs to create a unique aura. Something similar is found on Tesla Model X, where its Gullwing doors are also thrown in the mix.Currently, Ola Electric range starts from S1 Air, S1 and S1 Pro.     Ola Electric Scooter Scam Busted – More Than 1,000 People Duped

    Even with increased awareness about online scams, criminals are winning by finding newer ways to target unsuspecting usersOla Electric ScooterFrom email frauds to social media crimes, banking frauds, lottery scams, gift card frauds, fake government website frauds, job frauds, KYC frauds and various other scams, cyber criminals never miss an opportunity to dupe people. They continue to evolve their modus operandi, which makes it harder for people to avoid them.In yet another example of how ingenious cyber criminals can be, more than 1,000 people have been duped via a fake website of Ola Electric. The scam came to light after an FIR was filed with the cybercrime police. Around 20 people have been held and further investigations are underway. It’s not certain if the people who were duped will be getting back all their money. Cyber criminals usually siphon off the loot through cash transactions and other hard-to-trace channels.Ola electric scooter scamAs per initial investigation, it has been revealed that the scam was initiated by two individuals in Bengaluru. The alleged scamsters had created a fake website of Ola Electric to dupe people who were looking to book their Ola electric scooter. The person who has filed an FIR said that he got duped while looking to book his scooter. He had used Ola app, but since it did not have a finance option, he started searching for other options on the internet.This is when he came across the fake website and entered his details like name and mobile number. It is alleged that as soon as the personal details were made available, it was shared with other gang members operating from Bihar and Telangana. Subsequently, the victim received a call and was asked to pay Rs 499 for booking the scooter. Assuming it was genuine, the victim paid the amount via PayU app.Ola Electric Scooter Payment OptionsNext day, he received an email that listed all available finance options. The complainant chose Ola Money, whereupon a payment link was generated on WhatsApp. As per the finance plan, the complainant paid Rs 30,000 as down payment. His sanctioned loan amount was displayed as Rs 72,000. This was apparently a ruse to make everything look genuine.Further, the complainant was asked to pay Rs 13,000 in delivery charges. He was promised that the scooter will be dispatched on the same day if he paid Rs 13,000. Eventually, things started to look suspicious. After realizing what had happened, the complainant approached the cybercrime cell to register the FIR.More than 1000 people dupedIt is estimated that more than 1000 people have been duped of various amounts. The scam could be easily running into several hundred crores. Acting on the complaint, the cybercrime cell raided the call centre that was operating from Patna. More than 60 mobile phones, 114 SIM cards and 7 laptops have been seized. Cops have also traced 25 bank accounts with transactions of more than Rs 5 crore.This scam yet again highlights the need to be cautious when making online transactions. Users should always make payments on the company’s official website or app. Companies don’t usually ask customers to make payments via other channels. Future aside, Ola has to give prominence for the present as well.To boost sales of its electric scooter lineup, Ola has now introduced an even more affordable product over its S1. Called Ola S1 Air, this new scooter has a lower price point that will appeal to a wider audience. Let’s take a look at what all is new.Ola S1 Air Launch PriceOla S1 Air is priced at Rs. 79,999, it is practically sub 80K that was previously reported. As it comes at a lower price point, there have been certain major changes with Ola S1 Air over regular S1 and S1 Pro. For starters, there is a flat floorboard as opposed to a hump in the middle on S1 and S1 Pro. Even though it isn’t horizontal, it is flat. This should give a massive boost to Ola S1 Air in terms of practicality.Other changes include dual telescopic forks for front suspension, as opposed to a single-sided unit on S1 and S1 Pro. Even at the rear, we now have dual shock absorbers instead of a single-sided unit on the more premium electric scooters from Ola. The looks may not be as pretty as S1 and S1 Pro due to dual forks, they are likely to cause fewer failures. Air gets a new swingarm too. This powertrain runs on Move OS 3 and is rated for a 100 km range (IDC) in Eco Mode and a 0 to 40 km/h time of 4.3 seconds.Ola S1 Air Specs & FeaturesIn comparison, Ola S1 and S1 Pro get an 8.5 kW motor (peak power) that is almost double in power. Battery size was also larger. S1 comes equipped with a 3 kWh battery with a 141 km claimed range and S1 Pro comes equipped with a 3.9 kWh battery with a 181 km claimed range. Top speed for Ola S1 Air is not yet known, but will surely be less than 90 km/h of S1.Ola has not skimped on the 7” touchscreen that is offered with S1 and S1 Pro. Powered by Move OS 3, it doesn’t get every single feature that S1 Pro gets. For instance, features like cruise control have been given a miss owing to the lower price point.     Ola S1 gets the same frame, body, design, most of its features, and other hardware as the pricier S1 ProOla S1 Electric ScooterOla has had one of the most successful electric scooter lineups. When we say lineups, we mean S1 and S1 pro electric scooters that were supposed to launch on 15th August last year. But when reality struck, Ola resorted to just launching S1 Pro and slating S1 for another date. Ola did this in an attempt to first sell its flagship feature-loaded product to create a baseline and to draw more customers.That another date came exactly a year after S1 Pro was launched in India and in yesterday’s event, S1 was launched. Due to rise in production costs, Ola S1 Pro now costs around Rs. 1.4 lakh depending upon the city and state government subsidies. So, a Rs. 1 lakh electric scooter was paramount for Ola as competition from Ather, TVS, Chetak and Simple Energy is intensifying by the day. Hence Ola S1 launched.Heck, even Honda is coming to this electric scooter segment with an Electric Activa. Honda’s entry into this segment will definitely disrupt it. Because of its battery swapping tech, Honda’s electric scooter would cost significantly less as batteries are rented and not owned. Also, the battery can be swapped to a fully charged one in a minute.Ola S1 Vs RivalsAt a passing glance, S1 is virtually indistinguishable from S1 Pro. But S1 Pro gets a large 3.9 kWh battery while S1 only makes do with a 3 kWh pack. The motor still makes the same 5.5 kW peak power and 58 Nm torque. But with the smaller battery, range is also reduced. S1 can now cover 141 km while S1 Pro is certified with 181 km. This is nothing when compared to up to 300 km on Simple One. Both iQube and 450X gen 3 offer around 140 km certified range while Chetak only gets 95 km.New Ola S1 Vs RivalsDespite the arrival of Simple One, both S1 and S1 Pro still make the highest continuous power of this comparo at 5,500W. Followed by TVS iQube rated at 4,400W and Chetak at 4,080W. In terms of rated power, Ather is middle of the road at 3,300W. When it comes to peak torque, though, Simple One absolutely decimates its rivals with 72 Nm. Followed by 58 Nm with both S1 and S1 Pro, 33 Nm of iQube, 26 Nm of 450X gen3 and lastly, we have Chetak with just 16 Nm.New Ola S1 Vs RivalsWhen it comes to flexing battery sizes, there’s no beating Simple One and iQube as both of their battery packs cross the 4 kWh mark. Simple One gets a 3.3 kWh fixed battery as well as an optional removable 1.5 kWh battery too taking the total capacity to 4.8 kWh. Top-spec iQube gets a fixed 4.56 kWh battery. Followed by S1 Pro with 3.9 kWh, 450X gen 3 with 3.7 kWh. While both Chetak and S1 get a 3 kWh battery pack.Speed & SpecsThe comparo doesn’t end there. Even though the Simple One has the most torque, it is not the fastest. That crown still goes to Ola S1 Pro which can touch 115 km/h. Then comes Simple One with 105 km/h followed by S1 with 90 km/h, iQube with 82 km/h, while both 450X gen3 and Chetak can touch 80 km/h.New Ola S1 Vs RivalsWhen we look at the weight, Chetak is the heaviest at 132 kg, followed by iQube with 128 kg, both Ola S1 and S1 Pro weigh around 125 kg and then comes 450X weighing at 111.6 kg and Simple One being the lightest at 110 kg. Of this bunch, Chetak seems to be the most uninspiring as it doesn’t get any gizmos that others get and also is lagging behind rivals in almost every aspect.
