MG Windsor EV Prices Hiked By Rs 50k – BaaS To Cost 40 Paisa / Km More

MG Windsor EVWindsor EV has emerged as the top selling MG car in India, contributing more than 50% to overall sales
Launched last year, the Windsor EV has proven to be a goldmine for MG Motor. It is available at an affordable price point and comes with industry-first BaaS (Battery as a Service) ownership option. While contributing to the brand’s overall sales, Windsor EV has also helped increase MG’s market share in the electric segment.
MG Windsor price hiked (full purchase price option)
Just around four months have passed since the launch of Windsor EV. Prices have now been increased, indicating that the initial introductory pricing offer is no longer applicable. Windsor EV has three variants, all of which have witnessed a flat price hike of Rs 50,000. The base variant ‘Excite’ is now available at a starting price of Rs 14 lakh. The mid-spec variant ‘Exclusive’ will now cost Rs 15 lakh. Windsor EV top-spec ‘Essence’ variant gets a revised price tag of Rs 16 lakh.
While prices have been hiked under the full purchase option, it is unlikely to create any major impact on sales. Windsor EV is well-equipped and justifies the updated price range of Rs 14 lakh to Rs 16 lakh. MG is offering lifetime warranty for the first owner, something that is quite advantageous for buyers.
Windsor EV buyers do not have to worry about things like battery issues and battery replacement costs. Early buyers will also be able to access free charging for one complete year at MG’s public charging stations. This ensures further savings for Windsor EV owners. Another assurance comes in the form of 60% buyback after 3 years / 45,000 kms.
BaaS Subscription rate increased to Rs 3.9 / Km
While the ex-showroom prices under BaaS remain unchanged, the subscription price has been increased by 40 paisa per km. The Ex-showroom prices under BaaS are Rs 9.99 lakh for Excite, Rs 10.99 lakh for Exclusive and Rs 11.99 lakh for Essence variant. These prices are the same as earlier under the BaaS ownership model. However, the per km subscription rate has been increased from Rs 3.5 to Rs 3.9. It is to note that this per km subscription cost is in addition to the charging cost.
It remains to be seen what impact the increased BaaS subscription rate has on sales. Market reports indicate that a significant percentage of Windsor EV sales are from the BaaS purchase model. The BaaS system has proven to be a gamechanger. MG Motor will certainly be keen to ensure that its BaaS program continues to be perceived as the best VFM option in the EV segment.
While prices have been hiked, there are no changes to the features and specs. MG Windsor EV is equipped with a 38-kWh battery pack that connects to a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor. It generates 134 hp and 200 Nm, with power sent to the front wheels. Users can access drive modes of Eco+, Eco, Normal, and Sport. Windsor EV has a decent range of 331 km. Charging is pretty quick with a DC fast charger, allowing users to load up to 80% in just around 40 minutes. More

2025 MG ZS EV Revealed – Radical New Design Over Next-Gen Astor

New 2025 MG ZS EV Revealed as ES5When compared to the recently debuted new-gen Astor (ZS HEV), the new 2025 MG ZS EV (ES5) bears a unique appearance
ZS EV is among the first electric cars in India to offer a larger realistic range and bring more buyers onto the EV train. This is the first electric offering from MG and has received one major facelift since launch. Now, the next-gen 2025 MG ZS EV has broken cover and looks significantly radical than it did before.
    2025 MG ZS EV Revealed
There is a new generation of ZS EV, which the company is calling ES5. It may potentially launch in India, replacing the current model. ZS EV, currently on sale, and Astor look identical except for a closed-off grill on the former as opposed to that on the latter. This is to reduce costs by sharing most of their components and sheet metal.
However, that isn’t the case with just debuted ES5 (ZS EV) and recently debuted ZS (Astor). That is because they seem to be two different vehicles. It has to be noted that Astor is known as ZS globally and ZS EV is an electric version of it called, well, ZS EV.
The just debuted ES5 will replace MG’s ZS EV and is likely to be positioned as a new vehicle rather than being called ZS EV. Hence the deviation in naming strategy and vastly different design language and sheet metal used. More information will be revealed officially soon.
New 2025 MG ZS EV – Front
Dimensions are different too. For context, New ZS (Astor) measures 4.43m long, 1.81m wide and ES5 (ZS EV) measures 4.48m long and 1.85m wide. Just from the pictures, we can see that ES5 looks a lot more sportier, yet sophisticated in its own way.
    Radical new design
It is yet to be confirmed if ES5 will take ZS EV name in the future or will be called ES5. Design-wise, we can see a complete departure from recently debuted ZS. We get split headlight design with triple LED DRL signature on top and headlamps positioned below them. ES5’s grill is of a closed design as it doesn’t need a lot of air flow.
ORVMs on ES5 are new and so are the alloy wheels. ES5 also has different sheet metal than the recently debuted ZS and window line is unique as well. At the rear, ES5 gets a new and sporty spoiler design, while ZS’ appear plain. ES5 is the only one to get connected rear LED tail lights with a much sportier design.
    New 2025 MG ZS EV
Powertrain details are not known yet. Speculations suggest the same electric underpinnings will be offered on ES5 as MG 4 electric hatchback. This means an LFP battery pack of up to 77 kWh promising around 520 km of range on a single charge. Powering the new ES5 (2025 MG ZS EV) might be either a 168 bhp motor, or a 201 bhp or even a 241 bhp unit. More
