MG Cyberster First Drive Review – Gives You Wings!

MG Cyberster First Drive ReviewThe second premium offering from MG Select dealerships is Cyberster, which is launched in India for an introductory starting price of Rs 74.99 lakh (Ex-sh). Rs 72.49 (Ex-sh) if you had pre-booked this vehicle. With Cyberster’s pricing, MG seems to have hit a homerun. We say this because there’s not a single 2-Door sportscar in India (or probably even the world) that offers this much performance and this much sauce at this price point.
MG Cyberster Track Experience At Buddh International Circuit
The next most affordable vehicle in India with scissor doors costs Rs 6 fricking Crore rupees (Ex-sh). The next most affordable sportscar in India that can sprint from 0-100 km/h in 3.2s costs around Rs 2.8 Cr (Ex-sh). MG Cyberster is basically making supercar performance accessible at luxury car price. So, is the just launched MG Cyberster “Too Good To Be True” or is it “Too Good and True”? We experienced Cyberster at Buddh International Circuit F1 race track in Greater Noida to tell you just that.
    [embedded content]
MG Cyberster First Drive Review – Design
Starting with the way it looks, MG Cyberster is an achingly pretty car encapsulating the charm of bygone MG B Roadster. It turns heads no matter where you are and has a lot of “take out your smartphone and pap me” appeal. Especially when the electric scissor doors are up, makes it look sensational and an absolute style statement radiating its aura to visible range. The Red soft-top on Andes Grey and Modern Beige colours look particularly lovely. Long story short, it looks enchanting.
    MG Cyberster Design
Coming to what makes this vehicle enchanting, we have a long sweeping bonnet, a stylish bumper with Active Aero, expressive Storm-eye LED projector headlight setup with integrated LED DRLs, lovely 20-inch alloy wheels that creates an interesting pattern when moving, swooping and curvaceous side body profiling, Kammback tail design, rear bumper with a diffuser and interesting arrow-shaped LED connected tail light signature.
MG Cyberster Scissor Doors, Convertible Roof
While the overall aesthetics is head-turning, one might find that the rear tail lights are a tad over-designed, which does not match the rest of Cyberster’s otherwise lovely design. But it may grow on you. The soft-top roof is made of durable fabric which is weather resistant and the mechanism takes just around 10 seconds to go up or down and functions as advertised at speeds up to 50 km/h.
    MG Cyberster Design
    Supercar-like Interiors
Press the electric Scissor door release button and it opens into a futuristic cabin. Interiors of MG Cyberster take a lot of pages from supercars around the world. It does not look and feel like a Rs 75 lakh (Ex-sh) vehicle at all. It is just as plush and tech-loaded as a multi-crore supercar. We particularly liked the Y-shaped leather seats which had suede-finish inlays. These seats are electrically adjustable with controls on the doors.
    MG Cyberster Interiors
Once seated, you are greeted by a proper driver-oriented supercar-like cockpit with a triple screen setup that falls in driver’s peripheral vision at all times. Driver and co-passenger areas are separated with a physical barrier which also houses grab handle for passenger to grab during spirited drives. These seats hug you tightly and hold you in place and a centre armrest offers comfort. Centre console has a couple of cupholders if you fancy hot or cold beverages.
    MG Cyberster Interiors
Centre console also houses a 7-inch portrait-style control screen with finer HVAC controls and there is a row of quick buttons with haptic feedback for HVAC controls as well. Next to this screen, we can see a digital shifter that will take some time getting used to. Below, we can see three intuitively placed physical switches for both the doors and the convertible roof. Almost everything you feel in this cabin is soft-touch and lends a plush feel, complimented by metallic inlays.
    MG Cyberster Interiors
The flat-bottom steering wheel feels nice to hold and packs controls for infotainment and instrumentation along with a dedicated dial for steering response and a Red button for Super Sport Mode. Left paddle shifter is dedicated for KERS (Regen) and right one to cycle between various modes. We kept the best for last, which is the Sci-fi digital cockpit. Centre screen is 10.25-inch for driver’s instrumentation, navigation, vehicle data, ADAS related info and others.
    MG Cyberster Interiors
This is flanked by two 7-inch touchscreens where left screen controls multimedia along with smartphone connectivity (Android Auto, Apple CarPlay) and the right screen is for system controls, energy centre, user settings and 360-degree camera feed, among others. Cyberster comes with 8-speaker 320W Bose music system and AudioPilot tech that adjusts volume based on speed and noise. There’s also an artificial snarling V8-like exhaust note, if you’re into it. The only gripe I have with MG Cyberster’s interiors is that the seats are heated and not cooled.
    MG Cyberster Interiors
    Supercar Performance!
MG Cyberster offers a special 77 kWh battery pack with NMC battery chemistry. It is special because of how short it is at just 110 mm, which is shorter than a can of soda. On a regular EV, it doesn’t matter, but in an electric sportscar, this thin battery pack allows for a lot of room which is certainly appreciable. The company promises an MIDC-certified range of 580 km on a single charge. It supports DC fast charging of up to 144 kW, bringing down the 10-80% SOC time to just 40 minutes.
    MG Cyberster Design
This battery provides juice to two electric motors rated for a combined 510 PS of peak power and 725 Nm peak torque. This allows for supercar-like performance with a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 3.2 seconds and a top speed capped at 200 km/h. Power split is rear-biased as rear motor contributes for 62% of performance and front motor 38%. There are four Drive Modes – Comfort, Custom, Sport and Super Sport.
MG Cyberster Front Splitter, Rear Diffuser
    Drive & Safety
Launch Control on Cyberster is very potent, sending the car into the next dimension every time and so is its electronic differential lock and AWD traction. MG Cyberster boasts of a delicately designed chassis by F1 engineering legend Marco Fainello with a 50:50 weight distribution. Also helping with grip are the sticky Pirelli P Zero tyres and providing stopping power are Brembo callipers.
MG Cyberster Brembo Brakes, Pirelli P Zero Tyres, Side Skirts
Handling is sharp because of the 50:50 weight distribution and there is a lot of traction from the sticky Pirellis. Steering response is quite intuitive and direct and is adjustable too with three modes. Ride is pretty planted and does not include any surprising concerns. Braking is one area where we felt that it could have been better, especially with stronger initial bite than what it offers. Other than that, this is a lovely machine to go crazy on a race track.
    MG Cyberster Roll Hoops
Safety is a concern with convertible cars, but MG is ensuring that there are no stones unturned. For starters, there is significant engineering in Cyberster’s A Pillars and there are sturdy roll hoops behind the seats to prevent roll-over related fatalities. Then we have 4 airbags as standard which covering front and the sides. MG has implemented a driver-monitoring camera on steering wheel and then the safety net of Level-2 ADAS ensures autonomous features like auto emergency braking, lane-keep assist and adaptive cruise control.
    MG Cyberster Design
    Conclusion
Sportscars and Supercars in India are not a practical solution, but a conscious choice to stand out from the mundane. It should look pretty, sprint like a Cheetah, impress your love interest sitting beside you and give you a grand entrance everywhere you go. These are not highway mile munchers in the practical sense, but for quick and glamorous city excursions and paparazzi encounters.
    MG Cyberster Design
For intended purpose of a sportscar or a supercar in India, MG Cyberster absolutely delivers and is an undisputed champion in pricing. There’s nothing that comes close to Cyberster in terms of appeal, panache and flair, especially at the Rs 75 lakh (Ex-sh) price tag. With some planning, it can double up as your convertible Grand Tourer machine with its promised 580 km range, giving you best of both worlds. MG Cyberster is not “Too Good To Be True”, it is “Too Good and True”.

MG Comet EVEven with the price increase, MG Comet EV continues to be the most affordable electric car in the mainstream segment
MG Motor had increased prices of Comet EV twice in 2025, once in February and next in May as well. Prices have again been increased for the third time, post which, MG Comet EV is now available at a starting price of Rs 7.50 lakh. Let’s take a look at the price hike of all variants of Comet EV.
MG Comet EV New Prices – July 2025
MG Comet EV is offered in three broad trims – Executive, Excite and Exclusive. There’s a special Blackstorm Edition as well. Price of the base Executive variant has been increased by Rs 14,300. With that, the base variant is now available at Rs 7.50 lakh. Comet EV Excite and Exclusive variants have witnessed a price hike of Rs 15,000 each. It is now available at a starting price of Rs 10 lakh. Increased pricing for MG Comet EV is applicable with immediate effect (all prices Ex-sh).
Even with a starting price of Rs 7.50 lakh, MG Comet EV works out more affordable than its primary rivals. For example, Tata Tiago EV is available at a starting price of Rs 7.99 lakh. Citroen eC3 is priced much higher at Rs 11.99 lakh. Later this year, MG Comet EV could see a new rival in the form of Renault Kwid EV. Test vehicles have been spotted multiple times in recent months. Renault Kwid EV could be launched at around Rs 7 lakh (base variant) (all prices Ex-sh).
    MG Comet EV
    More accessible with BaaS
MG Motor’s industry-first BaaS program has been a major success. If we look at MG’s sales breakup, the Windsor EV is the top selling car. Comet EV is the second bestseller, contributing close to 15% to the brand’s overall sales volumes. A number of buyers choose the BaaS ownership program, as it significantly reduces the initial acquisition cost. Paying the battery charges per kilometre is a lot easier to fit within the monthly budget.
Under the BaaS ownership program for Comet EV, the battery rental is currently Rs 3.1 per km. Earlier, it was Rs 2.9 per km. At the time of Comet EV launch, the battery rental was Rs 2.50 per km. With the BaaS program, the base Executive variant can be purchased at just Rs 4.99 lakh.
MG Comet Excite variant under BaaS is available at Rs 6.20 lakh. The Excite FC will cost Rs 6.60 lakh, whereas the Exclusive starts at Rs 7.20 lakh. MG Comet EV Exclusive FC variant is available at Rs 7.60 lakh under the BaaS program. Top-spec Blackstorm Edition starts at just Rs 7.63 lakh. Since none of the rivals currently have BaaS or similar options, MG Comet EV has a definitive advantage. More

11 Features MG M9 Gets Over Toyota Vellfire – At Almost Half The Price

Toyota Vellfire (left), MG M9 (right)JSW MG M9 Presidential Limousine has been launched in India for an attractive price point of Rs 69.9 lakh (Ex-sh). Where on-road price is concerned, MG M9 undercuts all of its rivals in India, including the Kia Carnival. Among the luxury MPVs in India, is Toyota Vellfire, which has established itself quite well in the country.
Where pricing is concerned, Toyota Vellfire starts from Rs 1.22 Cr for Hi variant and costs Rs 1.33 Cr for top-spec VIP – Executive Lounge variant (both prices Ex-sh). In contrast, MG M9 is launched in India in just one loaded Presidential Limousine variant that costs almost half of what Vellfire does. In this post, let’s take a closer look at 10 things MG M9 offers over Toyota Vellfire.
    MG M9 Size
    1. Size Advantage
Toyota Vellfire is already a large vehicle with immense room on the inside. MG M9, on the other hand, is simply larger in terms of dimensions. Bringing numbers into the equation, MG M9 is 265 mm longer, 150 mm wider and has a 200 mm longer wheelbase than Vellfire. This translates to better road presence and more room on the inside.
    2. Higher Ground Clearance
Not only is the MG M9 larger than Vellfire, but also has higher ground clearance. M9 has a ground clearance of 180 mm, as opposed to 160 mm of Vellfire. Both vehicles get 19-inch alloy wheels.
    3. More Airbags
Toyota Vellfire offers 6 airbags even on its top-spec VIP – Executive Lounge. In contrast, MG M9 offers 7 airbags as standard.
    4. Better Crash Safety Rating
Toyota Vellfire has been crash tested by JNCAP (Japanese NCAP) where the luxury MPV has scored 4 Star crash safety rating out of 5. In comparison, MG M9 has scored a full-fat 5 Star crash safety rating in ANCAP (Australian NCAP) and 5 Star crash safety rating in Euro NCAP, which is considered to be the most stringent in the world.
    MG M9 Rear Seat
    5. Better Ingress Into 3rd Row
In a Toyota Vellfire, the narrow interiors allow for a little passage to access 3rd row seats which is accessed by moving 2nd row seats all the way front. Cabin space in MG M9 is so immense, one can just walk between 2nd row seats, which is a much better solution.
    6. Driver’s Seat Flexibility
In MG M9, driver’s seat is 12-way electrically adjustable when compared to Vellfire’s 8-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat. Also, both the front seats get a massaging function, which is not the case with Vellfire. In addition, there’s a driver monitoring camera in MG M9 too.
    MG M9 Sunroofs
    7. Proper Sunroof (s)
Toyota Vellfire gets two narrow glass roofs above both 2nd row seats which only give a tiny viewing area and they don’t open either. In comparison, MG M9 gets two sunroofs and both of them can open to let air in. First row gets a single-pane sunroof and second row gets a massive panoramic sunroof.
    8. More Flexibility in 2nd Row Seats
Both MG M9 and Toyota Vellfire offer throne like experience with their 2nd row seats. In Vellfire, 2nd row seats are 8-way electrically adjustable and MG M9 offers twice that as they are 16-way electrically adjustable. Also, there are 3 memory settings for 2nd row seats of M9, where Vellfire only has 1.
    MG M9 Digital IRVM
    9. Better Mirrors (ORVMs, IRVM)
MG M9 offers heated ORVMs, which Vellfire lacks. Where IRVM is concerned, MG offers a digital IRVM for versatility. This IRVM has multiple settings too. These include zoom, position, brightness and saturation.
    10. Self-sealing Tyres
MG M9 offers self-sealing tyres as it runs on 19-inch ContiSeal tyres that can self repair punctures to certain extent. This feature is missing on Toyota Vellfire.
    MG M9 Ambient Lighting
    11. Better Ambient Lighting
Toyota Vellfire has ambient lighting features too with 14 colour options. MG M9, however, takes it up a notch with a more extensive ambient lighting and offers 64 colours to choose from. More

MG M9 Electric MPV Rear Seat Experience – The Game Of Thrones!

MG M9 Rear Seat ReviewIn India, many OEMs have boarded the luxury MPV train with stark examples being the now discontinued Mercedes-Benz V-Class, Kia Carnival, Toyota Vellfire and Lexus LM. There’s a new challenger in this segment, one that comes with electrifying performance and promises over the top luxury.
    MG M9 Rear Seat Review
Of course, we’re talking about the new MG M9 electric luxury MPV, which is the maiden vehicle to be offered through MG Select dealerships and experience centres by JSW MG Motor India. We experienced the MG M9 in Goa at the national media drive and in this post, we will only express about the rear seat experience and our opinions as to just how luxurious MG M9’s rear seats are.
    MG M9 Rear Seat Review
MG M9 Electric MPV Rear Seat Experience
You must be familiar with a popular show on HBO called Game Of Thrones. While this is a fictional and mythological fantasy TV show, there is a Game Of Thrones happening in the automotive world. One where the elite executives are slowly transgressing from full-size sedans to luxurious MPVs for that ultimate comfort and relaxation.
    MG M9 Rear Seat Review
MG M9 electric MPV aims to offer the best possible experience to these chauffeur-driven elites, who are already spoiled with a few options. Where rear-seat experience is concerned, we MG M9 offers a nice blend of space and comfort, along with exquisite luxury, over the top technology, equipment, features and creature comforts.
    MG M9 Rear Seat Review
Rear seat experience of MG M9 starts with the powered sliding rear doors which can be triggered by request sensors on the handle or the key. Helping you to climb inside are a robust built-in step on door sill and a long grab handle. M9 is a tall vehicle and scooting into the seat after hopping in is like a cakewalk.
    MG M9 Rear Seat Review
    Feature Fest
Once on M9’s rear seat, one can’t help but notice the amount of vehicular controls that can be accessed from here. Some of these include rear auto climate control with dedicated blower, front and rear panoramic sunroof with an electric blind, rear theatre lights, electrically sliding doors, front passenger seat with the help of electric Boss Mode and more.
    MG M9 Rear Seat Review
These individual rear thrones are stupendously comfortable with all the support and plushness one could ask for. Both rear occupants get dedicated window blinds and these windows can go all the way down as well. Occupants are spoiled with a rear panoramic sunroof, dedicated AC vents and infotainment screens that get smartphone linking, music and AUX in along with a host of Android apps including Google Chrome and Youtube.
    MG M9 Rear Seat Review
The outer-end armrest gets a sliding function and below it, we have a retractable cupholder that can accommodate multiple bottle diameters. Inner-end armrest can be opened to reveal a tissue paper dispenser and a dedicated stowaway for these tissues along with Type-A and Type-C USB posts. To access 3rd row seats, one can just walk between 2nd row seats and 3rd row occupants get dedicated Type-A ports, AC vents and other amenities.
    MG M9 Rear Seat Review
    A King’s Throne
2nd row seats are easily the most important ones here and they are electrically operated, heated (3 levels), cooled (3 levels) and even offer 8 massage functions including Pulse, Wave, Walk, Single, Comfort, Butterfly, Waist and Snake. These massaging functions come in handy during the commute back home after a long day of work.
MG M9 Rear Seat Review – Extend Mode
All seat settings and most vehicular settings are crammed into a dedicated display present below the sliding armrest of both 2nd row seats. Using this screen, 2nd row captain chairs can be electrically operated to the full extent to move it front, back, sides and recline along with lumbar support, headrest position and the position of powered calf support which can be extended too.
MG M9 Rear Seat Review – Sleep Mode
If you don’t want to fiddle with individual seat settings, there is a memory function too, which is just convenient. MG has also crammed in Extend function that automatically brings it to a relaxed position and there is even a Sleep Comfort button that will recline and allow you to sleep as well. The same screen controls front passenger window, both rear windows, front sunroof, rear sunroof, rear auto climate control and a host of other vehicular functions.
MG M9 Rear Seat Review – 3rd Row
Then comes the Scenario Centre that bundles seat ventilation, seat position, window and sunroof positions into four scenarios. These are Summer Cool, Winter Warm, Rest Moment and Fresh & Comfort. All these scenarios are completely customisable and with the press of one scenario, it will adjust all set parameters on its own, which is a smart feature.
    MG M9 Rear Seat Review
    Plush Luxury
2nd row experience on MG M9 electric luxury MPV is not just limited to features, gizmos and comfort factor. MG has taken care of luxury too. The company is using soft leather on the seats and a mix of Alcantara thrown in for good measure. The same treatment extends to rear door pads as well.
MG M9 Rear Seat Review – Boss Mode
There’s soft touch plastics almost everywhere, complemented by gloss Black elements and brushed Aluminium elements. MG has worked on sound insulation of M9 from outside elements. When moving, there’s almost nothing that filters through M9’s well insulated cabin. Wind noise, tyre noise and road noise are very well contained.
    MG M9 Rear Seat Review
All in all, MG M9 offers one of the best rear-seat experiences in the luxury MPV business and it all depends on MG M9’s pricing, which is still under wraps. We will say, MG M9’s Game for the Throne is quite strong. We would encourage prospective buyers to test the MG M9 before considering any imported luxury vehicle in India.

At the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed (10th July – 13th July), SAIC-owned MG Motor is poised to unveil several new models. Last year, the iconic British brand celebrated its 100th anniversary at the event. For upcoming 2025 Goodwood FOS (Festival Of Speed), MG will unveil 2 new EVs, along with Cyberster Black, Cyber X Concept and MG EX4. Let’s check out the details.
MG Lineup For 2025 Goodwood FOS
MG Motor will be unveiling two new EVs on 10th July, the opening day of the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed, as per the teasers. While keeping the names secret, MG has mentioned that these two will be technologically advanced EVs. One of these models could be the IM Motors IM6, as seen in a recent teaser.

IM Motors is a joint venture between SAIC Motor, Alibaba Group and Zhangjiang Hi-Tech. The IM6 is a rebranded version of the IM LS6 sold in the Chinese market. IM6 is also available for sale in Australia and Thailand. In Australia, IM Motors also sells a related IM5 sedan. There are plans to introduce the IM6 in more overseas markets. In Europe and South America, the IM6 could be sold under the MG brand.
Dimensionally, the IM6 SUV coupe is 4,904 mm long, 1,988 mm wide, 1,669 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,950 mm. It has an attractive, curvy body panelling with expressive lighting elements and distinctive petal-shaped design for the alloy wheels. Other highlights include a full glass roof, plush door handles and full-width LED lighting element at the rear.

Live performance demo on the Goodwood Hillclimb
While not naming the IM6, MG Motor has mentioned that one of the new models will demonstrate their “phenomenal EV acceleration” on the Goodwood Hillclimb. It indicates that MG Motor is likely to showcase the ‘Performance’ top variant of IM6. It has dual motors, 200 kW at front and 372 kW at the rear.
Combined power output is 778 PS and 802 Nm of torque. The IM6 Performance variant can achieve 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds. It will be interesting to see if the IM6 can beat the existing Goodwood Hillclimb record of 39.08 seconds, set by Max Chilton in the McMurtry Spéirling EV in 2022.
    MG Cyberster Black Teased
The Goodwood Hillclimb is not a proper racetrack, but challenges drivers with its tight bends, narrow corners and continuous incline. Along with the IM6, the MG EX4 EV will also take on the Goodwood Hillclimb. At the event, the MG EX4 EV will be presented with a fresh livery inspired by the MG Metro 6R4.
    Cyberster Black and Cyber X
MG will also showcase the Cyberster Black, an electric two-seat convertible wrapped in a new deep black theme. MG Cyberster has been showcased earlier also at the Goodwood, but this time it gets an entirely new paint job. The black shade significantly enhances the Cyberster’s sporty aesthetics. Interiors too have an all-black theme for an impactful, immersive experience.
    MG Cyber GTS Coupe
Joining the Cyberster will be the Cyber X concept and Cyber GTS Coupe, which was also unveiled at the 2025 Shanghai motor show. The second model under MG’s Cyber sub-brand, the Cyber X concept has boxy, rugged aesthetics. The compact SUV has a radical design, with USPs such as the eye-catching pop-up headlamps. Extremely short front and rear overhangs ensure an agile look and feel for the SUV. The Cyber X concept seems just right for urban environments.
    MG Cyber X SUV
At the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed, MG’s main stand will also showcase other products such as the MGS5 EV and award-winning MG HS SUV. There will be an additional MG experience area, where visitors will be able to explore the high-performance MG4 EV XPower. More
