2024 KTM RC 390 Gets New ColoursAs opposed to 390 Duke, 2024 KTM RC 390 only gets two new exciting colours while remaining the same mechanicallyKTM India has been porting its 390 lineup to the new 399cc engine. First of the bunch was 390 Duke, which was launched in India and you can rear our first-ride review here. However, RC 390 and 390 Adventure are yet to make the transition to this new engine. Before that, KTM might introduce new colour options to keep the product fresh.2024 KTM RC 390 RevealedGlobally, KTM has unveiled two new colours for RC 390 and these are highly likely to be offered on India-spec models too. KTM has not added any design changes to the 2024 RC 390, except for new colours. It still boasts the same race-inspired package. The new colours are exciting.One includes a base Blue shade with hints of orange and white on it along with large RC stickering in white colour. While second colourway has the front half of RC 390 covered in bright orange, while other half gets black body panels accentuated by orange coloured subframe. This colourway gets a large RC stickering on fairing in faded black effect.Just like the current model, 2024 KTM RC 390 is positioned on a split-steel trellis frame as was seen with current 390 Adventure and previous generation KTM 390 Duke. It gets LED head and tail lamps along with integrated LED blinkers, handlebars with 2 step height adjustment feature and a 13.7-liter fuel tank.2024 KTM RC 390Its Grand Prix inspired styling is in the form of race-inspired likes across its bodywork, while its design now protects the rider from wind and weather and allows for better heat management with its outer and inner panels directing airflow away from the rider.Same ol’ 373.27cc engine2024 KTM RC 390 is powered by the same 373.27cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC, 4-valve petrol engine. Peak power is at 42 hp at 9,000 rpm and peak torque is at 37 Nm at 7,000 rpm. The engine gets mated to a 6-speed gearbox with slip and assist clutch. The new 399cc engine ekes out more performance.Electronics package includes Motorcycle Traction Control (MTC), Lean Angle Sensitive ABS, Dual-Channel ABS with SUPERMOTO mode and power-assisted anti-hopping slipper clutch. It also gets Quickshifter+ as part of its standard kit. Onboard features also include a TFT multi-function display unit as is also seen on the KTM 390 Adv with MTM MY RIDE along with Bluetooth connectivity mated to the user’s smartphone.Braking system consists of a 320mm disc in the front and a 230mm disc at the rear, which are mounted on the wheel spokes as against its wheel hubs. Suspension is via WP Apex USD fork in the front and WP Apex adjustable mono-shock at the rear. KTM 790 Adventure – Image for referenceAs seen in the KTM sales November 2023 charts, the company has made significant impact in exports which registered positive growthThe Austrian brand, KTM, had a rather productive sales prospect in November 2023. While total sales registered positive YoY growth and a marginal drop in sales MoM, exports was of particular interest with positive growth both YoY and MoM. Interestingly, KTM’s exports showed an upper hand than what they sold domestically in India.KTM Sales November 2023 – Total salesWhere total sales are concerned, KTM pushed out 11,741 units in November 2023 which was an increase of 13.14% YoY as opposed to 10,377 units sold in November 2022 and a 4.08% MoM decline when compared to 12,241 units sold in October 2023. Volume gained YoY stood at 1,364 units and lost 500 units MoM.In total, KTM’s 390 range proved to be the highest selling in November 2023. The range includes the recently launched 2024 390 Duke along with 390 Adventure and RC 390. KTM’s 390 range sold 3,956 units last month with 91.48% YoY growth and 9.41% MoM decline. Volume grew by 1,890 units YoY and fell 411 units MoM.200 range (200 Duke and RC 200) and 250 range (250 Adventure and 250 Duke) of motorcycles took 2nd and 3rd places by selling 3,695 and 2,718 units respectively. While 200 range fell into the red completely with 36.56% YoY and 6.24% MoM decline, 250 range registered 89.28% YoY growth.KTM Sales Breakup November 2023 – Total SalesIn contrast, KTM’s 125 range saw least sales at 1,272 units, but it was the only one to show a MoM growth. That too, 53.47% growth, showing market trends.Domestic sales fell into the red completelyWhere domestic sales are concerned, KTM’s 200 range is the best-selling with 2,777 units sold with 21.11% YoY growth and it also witnessed the least MoM decline in this group at 18.11%. More than half of KTM’s domestic sales are occupied by 200s with a 52.53% market share. Next in line, is 250s with 1,371 units and 50.83% YoY growth and 25.93% market share.However, 250 range saw a sharp 33.32% MoM decline, losing 685 units in volume (highest in this list). The 390 range took 3rd place and more than doubled its numbers YoY by selling 1,001 units as opposed to 455 units in November 2022. MoM decline was 36.32%. The company recently launched 2024 390 Duke in India.KTM Sales Breakup November 2023 – Domestic SalesAt 4th place, we have KTM’s 125 range with 138 units sold and sales halved YoY at 58.31% decline and 37.84% MoM decline. In total, KTM’s domestic sales accounted for 5,287 units, which is greater than 3,988 units sold last year and less than 7,241 units sold a month before. Resulting in 32.57% YoY growth and 26.99% MoM decline.Exports saw greater volumes than domesticKTM’s popular export from India is the 390 range, with 2,955 units shipped and 45.79% of total exports. 390s showed 83.43% YoY growth as opposed to 1,611 units shipped last year and 5.72% MoM growth as opposed to 2,795 units shipped a month before. Volume gain is 1,344 units YoY and 160 units MoM.KTM Sales Breakup November 2023 – ExportsThe company shipped 1,247 and 1,234 units of 250 range and 125 range respectively. 250 range saw a staggering 155.6% YoY growth along with 37.03% MoM growth. Whereas 125 range saw 71.39% YoY growth and 83.63% MoM growth.KTM’s 200 range is the least popular in export markets with 918 units shipped. Which is a 74% decline MoM and 66.91% MoM growth. The bike has now been launched in multiple overseas markets including the USA and Europe. Users can look forward to new colour options, a range of upgrades and an improved 799 cc engine. This is a perfect machine to take on BMW F850 GS, Yamaha Tenere or even the new Ducati DesertX.2024 KTM 790 Adventure – What’s new?New 790 Adventure looks fresh with a redesigned front end. The bike continues with its rally-inspired bodywork and has a striking overall profile. There are two new colourways, an all-white shade with orange graphics and an all-black option. With use of in-mold technology, the graphics have a high level of finish and durability. For enhanced wind protection, there is now a taller windscreen too.Ride ergonomics are comfortable, with a one-piece seat that offers improved rider movement. The seat is designed in a way that suits both off-road environments and long-distance touring. The slim design of the fuel tank comes handy when riding the bike standing on the pegs. For extra comfort, users can choose accessories such as heated ergonomic rider and passenger seats.2024 KTM 790 Adventure – tech upgradesOne of the key changes is the upgraded 5-inch TFT display. In the 2024 model, the off-road ABS is automatically toggled when the user has selected Offroad or the optional Rally Mode.This reduces ABS on the front wheel and completely deactivates it on the rear wheel. For improving ride experience, users can also choose optional features such as Quickshifter+ and Cruise Control. There’s a Demo Mode as well, which allows users to try the premium features for free for the first 1,500 km.Specs and performanceIn comparison to its predecessor, updated 2024 KTM 790 Adventure uses an improved 799cc parallel-twin engine. It generates 95 PS of max power and 87 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Improvements to the engine include a reworked clutch with better lubrication as well as new clutch discs for smoother gear shifts.2024 KTM 790 Adventure BodyworkRide dynamics are further improved with a 20% increase in the weight of the crankshaft. The bike also gets an additional knocking control system. It allows the bike to run without worries even when poorer quality fuel is used. Front suspension has been tweaked to ensure better control and handling across off-road tracks. KTM has used split function technology that keeps compression and rebound damping separate between the front forks.New 790 Adventure also gets new offroad-focused Pirelli Scorpion STR tyres. These are suitable for both off-road and on-road environments. It is not certain if 2024 KTM 390 Adventure will be introduced in India. 2024 KTM 390 DukeKTM sales both in domestic and export markets showed off a significant month-on-month growth over sales achieved in September 2023The Austrian brand, KTM, is doing well in terms of sales both in domestic markets and globally. Total sales have posted both a YoY and MoM growth. Even as sales dipped YoY in domestic markets, sales figures were high on a MoM basis. It was the KTM 200cc range that was more in demand in Indian markets while the export list was headed by the KTM 390 range.KTM Sales October 2023 – DomesticThe company has been active at the recently concluded 2023 EICMA Show where it showed off the new KTM 990 Duke. The company’s current lineup in India includes Duke Series (125, 200, 250, and 390), RC Series (125, 200, and 390) and Adventure Series (Adventure 250 and 390), all of which are produced at the Bajaj Auto Plant.KTM India domestic sales in October 2023 stood at 7,241 units, down 13.10 percent YoY from 8,333 units sold in October 2022. Every model on the list has posted a YoY de-growth except for the KTM 390. MoM sales increased 54.39 percent from 4,690 units sold in September 2023.Commanding over 46 percent share in the company lineup was the KTM 200 (Duke and RC) with 3,391 units sold last month, down 15.25 percent over 4,002 units sold in October 2022. It was, however, a MoM growth from 3,112 units sold in September 2023 when share percentage had stood at 66.35%. Last month, the KTM 200 was also on the list of 150cc-200cc motorcycle sales at No.10.KTM Sales October 2023 – DomesticSales of KTM 250 range also dipped 5.99 percent to 2,056 units, down from 2,187 units sold in October 2022. This was a 131 unit volume decline with the 250 range commanding a 28.39 percent share. MoM sales improved by 693.82 percent from 259 units sold in September 2023.KTM India has been seeing good demand for its 390 series, sales of which improved by 25.76 percent YoY and 40.86 percent MoM to 1,572 units. There had been 1,250 units and 1,116 units sold in October 2022 and September 2023 respectively. While sales of its 125 series, dipped 75.17 percent YoY to 222 units in October 2023 from 894 units sold in October 2022, MoM sales improved by 9.36 percent over 203 units sold in September 2023.KTM Exports October 2023Positive growth was seen across global markets with 5,000 units exported last month. This was an 88.32 percent YoY growth from 2,655 units shipped in October 2022 relating to a 2,345 unit volume growth. MoM exports also saw a 134.85 percent improvement from 2,129 units sold in September 2023.KTM Sales October 2023 – ExportsIt was the KTM 390 that attracted more attention globally with 2,795 units sold last month to command a 55.90 percent share on this list. It was also a 113.69 percent YoY and 142.83 percent MoM growth over 1,308 units and 1,151 units sold in October 2022 and September 2023 respectively. KTM 250 exports also saw outstanding results with 983 units exported last month, a 333.04 percent hike over 227 units exported in October 2022. MoM exports grew by 24475 percent from just 4 units exported in September 2023.The KTM export list also had the 125 range of which 672 units were exported last month while of the 200 series, the company shipped 550 units. The 200 range has seen both a YoY and MoM decline.KTM Cumulative Sales (Domestic + Exports)Cumulative sales grew both on YoY and MoM basis with 12,241 units sold last month. This was an 11.40 percent YoY growth from 10,988 units sold in October 2022 relating to a 1,253 unit growth. MoM sales also improved by 79.51 percent from 6,819 units sold in September 2023 with a 5,422 unit growth.KTM Sales October 2023 – TotalKTM 390 series saw a 70.72 percent YoY growth from 2,558 units sold in October 2022 to 4,367 units in the past month while it was also a 92.63 percent MoM improvement in sales from 2,267 units sold in September 2023.Sales of the KTM 200 dipped 21.77 percent YoY and 3.55 percent MoM to 3,941 units while that of the 250 range saw a 25.89 percent YoY and 1055.51 percent MoM growth to 3,039 units. There were also 894 units of the KTM 125 range sold last month relating to an 8.59 percent YoY de-growth from 978 units sold in October 2022. 2024 KTM 990 Duke UnveiledAt 2023 EICMA Show, Team Orange globally unveiled 2024 KTM 990 Duke, based on an all-new frame and a 947cc parallel twin derived from 890 DukeThe popular Duke lineup from Austrian bikemaker, KTM, has seen a new entrant in the form of 990 Duke. Recently showcased at 2023 EICMA Show, KTM 990 Duke is the epitome of the brand’s motorsport-oriented ethos in street naked motorcycle format. As seen with test mules already, this platform will spawn a fully-fired RC 990 as well.KTM 990 Duke Unveiled With 123hp Weighing 179kgIn India, KTM currently only sells its single-cylinder lineup manufactured in collaboration with Bajaj Auto. This lineup includes Duke range, RC range and Adventure range. We wish KTM introduced more of its multi-cylinder lineup in India. But is the recently unveiled 990 Duke on the cards? Only time will tell.For starters, the new 947cc parallel-twin engine on 2024 KTM 990 Duke is a variation of 890 Duke R’s 889cc unit. The extra displacement doesn’t translate to a significant gain in power and torque, though. The 58cc increase in displacement yields 2 bhp and 4 Nm more, ekeing out 123 bhp of peak power and 103 Nm of peak torque.Even though the gain is not very significant on paper, there may be meaningful gains in real life, especially with in-gear acceleration. While the engine is based on its predecessor’s, the frame is all-new. This new steel trellis frame is suspended by WP’s premium components including a fully adjustable USD telescopic front fork setup and a rear monoshock.2024 KTM 990 Duke17-inch alloy wheels finished in bright Orange get Bridgestone S22 rubber with 120/70-ZR17 front and 180/55-ZR17 rear tyre sizes. Braking hardware includes 4-pot callipers at the front and a single-piston calliper for the rear, grabbing into 300mm dual discs at the front and 240mm single disc for rear.Specs and featuresWith all these components combined, KTM quotes a complete weight of 179 kg. In KTM’s words, ‘complete weight’ is likely to be kerb weight and not dry weight. Where electronic rider aids are concerned, KTM 990 Duke gets a bi-directional quick shifter, cornering ABS, cruise control, wheelie control, traction control, five riding modes and more.KTM’s Track mode and Performance modes allow riders to access features like lap timer, switchable ABS and TCS, and provide access to bike’s lean angle data for track excursions.
