Hero Patented New Scooter With Affordable Components – EV Or ICE?

Hero Patented New ScooterIf an EV, this upcoming scooter will rival TVS iQube and Ather Rizta and if ICE, it will take on Honda Activa 125, TVS Jupiter 125 and Suzuki Access 125Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer in terms of volume, currently dominates motorcycle sales but lags behind its immediate rivals in the scooter segment. To tackle this, Hero is taking a comprehensive approach by developing a range of new scooters. One of these upcoming scooters has already been patented. Let’s take a closer look.Hero Patented New Scooter With Affordable ComponentsWe can see a large and practical scooter in the leaked patent images. The design is new-age and is much better than Hero’s current large scooter, Maestro. That said, there are a few resemblances with Hero’s Vida scooters as well. Regardless of ICE or EV, it has a few premium elements seen in the recently patented design. The scooter’s apron has a well-designed LED headlight system, while the front and rear have stylish turn indicators also LED. The split-type seat looks large and comfortable, and the overall design is minimal and clean, with few body creases. In terms of practicality, the scooter has a flat floorboard, and one of its key strengths is the seat.Additionally, there is a large and practical grabrail. Since the patented design is a 3D model of the vehicle in greyscale, we can’t pinpoint whether it packs an IC engine (probably 125cc) or an electric powertrain. In either case, we can expect a swingarm-mounted drive unit.Hero New Scooter Patent DetailsIt is not all sunshine for Hero’s new scooter, though. The leaked patent design doesn’t incorporate disc brakes at either end. The front suspension setup is a big turn-off too, as it is not a telescopic unit. Both of Hero’s current large scooters Maestro and Vida V1 get telescopic forks. Smaller and more affordable Pleasure+ still gets front shock absorbers, though. What to expect?Considering Hero is currently not popular with large family scooter buyers, there is a big probability of this being an ICE scooter, similar to Maestro’s size. Rivals in this genre include Activa 125, TVS Jupiter 125, Suzuki Access 125 and others. Also, company’s official website doesn’t list Maestro under their products section in Scooter category. This raises speculation about whether Maestro is discontinued considering its slow sales in contrast to its immediate rivals. If so, this new scooter patented by Hero could fill Maestro’s shoes with the same 125cc engine making 9 bhp, 10.36 Nm and cost around Rs. 85,000 (ex-sh).Hero Maestro Missing In Official WebsiteIf it is an EV, it would rival family electric scooters like TVS iQube and Ather’s upcoming Rizta. Around 3 kWh swappable battery and 100 km of real range is likely. Features may include a fully digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth and navigation, LED lighting, connected vehicle experience, large under-seat storage, USB charging sockets, apron storage for convenience and an external fuel filler cap (if ICE). Hero Yulu Rival Under Development – Design patented

Hero Yulu Rival Design PatentedAs opposed to 2W electric CVs on sale in India, upcoming Hero Yulu rival seems to be packing more battery capacity to offer longer rangeHero MotoCorp is on the verge of upping its scooter game in India to rival the likes of Honda, TVS and Suzuki. However, Hero MotoCorp is not active in 2W commercial vehicles catering to the needs of B2B and B2C customers operating last-mile logistics. That will change soon as the company has patented a 2W CV.Hero Yulu Rival Under DevelopmentCurrently, Hero doesn’t have a robust scooter portfolio to take on the rivals from Honda, TVS and Suzuki. That said, Hero has the industrial might and is leveraging it to launch a product offensive in scooter category. The new Xoom 160 and Xoom 125R are incoming with sporty designs, posing a major appeal to young buyers and thrill-seekers. Along with that, we also saw a new large scooter recently patented by Hero MotoCorp. This vehicle could potentially take the spot of Maestro, which is not currently listed among other scooters on company’s official website. However, these vehicles cater to passenger segment. Hero is now taking larger strides in exploring commercial 2W EV space. The new electric scooter patented will primarily rival Yulu bikes manufactured by Bajaj Chetak and upcoming Honda Benly e, already spotted testing in India along with all the 2W electric CVs on sale in India.Hero Yulu Rival Design PatentedDesign is not something the intended business operators will consider as much as functionality. In that regard, we get minimal body panels and there doesn’t seem to be any beautification process as well. It is a commercial vehicle and it is what it is. That said, the functionality doesn’t seem as robust as rivals. What to expect? We say this because 2W electric CVs are known for their cargo-carrying capacity and versatility. With Hero Yulu rival, there is no floorboard, let alone a flat one. Hero has provided a small rack up front and a larger rack at the rear. As opposed to the front, rear area boasts greater luggage-carrying capability.Where Hero MotoCorp could have an edge over other rivals is in battery department. As seen in the picture, Hero Yulu rival seems to be packing a larger battery that may promise greater range on a single charge. This might be why there is no flat floorboard on offer.Yulu Wynn Electric 2WThe rear hub motor draws power from a battery of around 2 kWh to 3 kWh promising close to 100 km of real-world range is highly likely with this upcoming scooter. Componentry includes a tiny headlight housing that might pack LEDs and a projector, alloy wheels at both ends, disc brake at the front, RSU telescopic suspension at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear among others. 2024 Hero Vida V1 Plus Launched At Rs. 1.15 Lakh – 30K Less Than V1 Pro

Hero Vida V1When compared to top-spec V1 Pro, Hero Vida V1 Plus launched costs Rs. 30,000 less and packs almost similar specs and performanceIn a strategic move, Hero MotoCorp has re-launched Vida V1 Plus in India for an attractive price of Rs. 1.15 lakh (including subsidy and portable charger) in most states. This makes Vida V1 Plus a tempting proposition to rival the likes of Ather 450S, Ola S1 Air and S1 X+ along with TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak and Simple Dot One.2024 Hero Vida V1 Plus Launched At Rs. 1.15 LakhIndian 2W electric industry has been reaching new heights thanks to more buyers gravitating towards greener mobility solutions. However, 2W juggernaut, Hero MotoCorp, had to navigate through multiple hurdles to launch their EV under a separate Vida sub-brand.Hero Vida V1 Plus Launched – InstrumentationThe launch did happen and faced crushing criticism for being priced above expectations. Earlier last year, Hero revised its pricing strategy and launched Vida V1 Pro at a reasonable Rs. 1.4 lakh effective price (including central subsidy). Various state governments offer added subsidy, bringing the effective price even lower.Vida V1 Plus was discontinued, making top-spec V1 Pro the sole offering under Vida brand. Fast-forwarding to 2024, Hero MotoCorp has re-launched Vida V1 Plus at Rs. 1.15 lakh effective price (including FAME II central subsidy and portable charger).Hero Vida V1 Plus Launched – StoragePound to pound, 2024 Vida V1 Plus is Rs. 30,000 less expensive than top-spec Vida V1 Pro. This is a tempting proposition for buyers as the entry point to Vida lineup is now a lot more affordable than what was quoted at launch. Many States & UT Governments offer further subsidies to EVs. For example, Delhi residents can get Vida V1 Plus at an effective price of under Rs. 1 lakh. Rs. 97,800, to be precise. Other than Delhi, a few other States and UTs offer state-level subsidies as well, to take some burden off buyers for a faster adoption of electric mobility.Differences between V1 Plus and V1 ProThere are not a lot of differences between Hero Vida V1 Plus launched and top-spec Vida V1 Pro. Both share similar styling cues along with seating ergonomics and other componentry. V1 Plus and V1 Pro also share their technology and feature a 7-inch touchscreen dashboard. Top speed is the same at 80 km/h with both scooters as well.Differences lie around a few attributes to justify added price increment for top-spec Vida V1 Pro over Vida V1 Plus. For starters, V1 Pro packs a larger 3.94 kWh battery pack promising 110 km of range from a single charge. Whereas, V1 Plus has a smaller 3.44 kWh battery promising 100 km range.
