Aprilia joins the list by increasing scooter prices across the range. It is possible that Aprilia motorcycles may also witness a price hike in the near future. The company currently offers bikes in the 660cc and 1,100cc range.Aprilia scooter prices May 2022Aprilia currently offers scooters in 125cc and 160cc categories. Prices have been increased in the range of Rs 6,276 to Rs 6,728. The most affordable is Aprilia Storm Disc, which will now cost Rs 1,06,331. Aprilia SR RST 125 new price is Rs 1,15,877, an increase of Rs 6,428. Next is Aprilia SR RST 160, available at a starting price of Rs 1,25,895.Aprilia SXR 125 new price is Rs 1,27,206, an increase of Rs 6,549. Folks interested in Aprilia SR RST Carbon will have to pay Rs 1,28,406, an increase of Rs 6,577. Aprilia SR RST Race is now available at Rs 1,35,147, an increase of Rs 6,657. Highest price hike of Rs 6,728 is for Aprilia SXR 160. It will now cost Rs 1,38,483.As compared to price hikes announced by other two-wheeler manufacturers, the quantum of hike is relatively more in case of Aprilia scooters. This may be due to the fact that most other OEMs choose to introduce smaller increments, multiple times in a year. In comparison, Aprilia appears to have increased prices all at once. It remains to be seen how the new prices will impact sales.Aprilia Scooter Prices May 2022Aprilia scooters vs. rivalsAprilia 125cc scooters have quite a few rivals such as TVS Ntorq 125, Suzuki Burgman Street 125, Avenis, Yamaha RayZR and Fascino, Honda Grazia and Hero Maestro Edge. However, in the 160cc segment, Aprilia currently has only Yamaha Aerox 155 as the primary rival. Aerox 155 was launched last year in September at a starting price of Rs 1.29 lakh. It is now priced at about Rs 1.37 lakh, ex-sh.Demand for higher capacity scooters is relatively less here. In the same price range, most users will prefer to choose a motorcycle. However, Aprilia can be credited with making the first move. It is possible that new products could be introduced, as demand picks up for these high performance scooters. The likes of Honda and Suzuki will be looking to tap this space if there are ample opportunities.In terms of performance, Aprilia scooters are almost equal in comparison to their respective rivals. Aprilia 125cc scooters are powered by a 125cc 4V TECH FI engine that generates 9.92 PS of max power and 9.7 Nm of peak torque. Aprilia 160cc scooters utilize a 160cc motor that makes 11 PS and 11.6 Nm.In the future, Aprilia may also launch electric scooters here. While there is no official confirmation, a hint comes from Piaggio’s plans to develop an electric scooter that is specially designed for India. Aprilia Tuono 250 has been launched in China as GPR 250S – Borrows its underpinnings and powertrain from RS 2502022 Aprilia Tuono 250ccAprilia is very well-known for its racing pedigree all across the motorsport industry. Its sporting legacy also translates to fun and fast bikes which have a substantial consumer base all across the world. While the Italian brand has a very thin lineup of motorcycles in India, it continues to grow its presence in other international markets.The Piaggio-led company has launched Aprilia Tuono 250 in China which goes by the name GPR 250S. Reports of Aprilia developing a new-gen model of the naked streetfighter had started surfacing last year. A similar 125cc version of the naked street racer made its debut in European markets last year.2022 Aprilia Tuono 250One look at the new Tuono 250 and you realise that it is a very different product from its predecessor. The bike gets a completely redesigned front fascia which is dominated by new triple pod projector LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs that gives an aggressive and mean appearance.It also gets familiar front and side fairing which is unique to the Aprilia line of naked motorcycles. However, in this case, fairings are more prominent and play a significant role in amplifying the sports bike appeal of the bike. The side quarter fairing not only provides a distinct look but also adds to its aerodynamic qualities. More importantly, it also incorporates a larger radiator shroud for a new liquid cooler.2022 Aprilia Tuono 250ccOther notable visual highlights include a muscular fuel tank, a single-piece saddle, a raised tail section and a superbike-style windscreen upfront. Like the fully faired sports bike, this motor pumps out 27.5 bhp at 9000 rpm and a peak torque 21.5 Nm at 7500 rpm. Power is transmitted to rear wheels via a 6-speed gearbox. Suspension duties are handled by 41mm USD forks up front and a mono-shock linked to the swingarm at rear.The naked streetfighter rides on 17-inch alloy wheels shod with 100/80 and 130/70 section tyres at front and rear respectively. Braking duties are handled by single disc brakes at both ends complemented by dual-channel ABS. At a kerb weight of 145 kg, Tuono 250 is fairly nimble for its class.Expected India LaunchCurrently, Aprilia retails only four motorcycles in India including RS 660, Tuono 660, RSV4 1100 Factory and Tuono Factory. The SR GT range made its global debut at the last edition of EICMA held in Milan, Italy in November 2021. The SR GT range is available in two derivatives- 125 and 200, the latter being introduced in the Japanese market recently.The scooter has been designed to take the beaten paths on occasions along with maintaining practicality for everyday commutes. Hence, it has been appropriately labelled as an ‘urban adventure scooter’. In line with its nature, SR GT has been equipped with a wider handlebar, long-travel suspension and block pattern tyres.Aprilia SR GT200 – DesignGetting deeper into details, the design of SR GT is striking and draws inspiration from other Aprilia models with a few elements borrowed from the SXR range. In true essence, SR GT is a Maxi scooter with an ADV-like stance. This results in edgy styling with signature tri-LED headlights upfront on the apron.It flaunts signature ADV elements like a smoked windscreen upfront and a heavily faired front panel. The excessive use of cuts and creases give the scooter an aggressive appearance.New Aprilia SR GT 200Thanks to its Maxi-styling, a huge transmission tunnel is placed between the legs of the rider, giving him/her the experience of a motorcycle. A wide handlebar and slightly forward-set footpegs give the rider a comfortable riding posture.The footpegs are bounded by silver-coloured panels which give it the impression of a metallic bash plate. A sharp-looking tail section with a chunky single-piece grab rail and a sharp upswept exhaust canister amplifies the sportiness of SR GT 200. SR GT 200 rolls on 14-inch front and 13-inch rear wheels which are shod with knobby dual-purpose off-road friendly tyres.Powering the SR GT 200 is a 174cc, single-cylinder unit that kicks out 17.43 bhp at 8,500rpm and 16.5Nm at 7,000rpm. It is available in two variants- standard and Sport. The former is offered in three colour schemes- namely Aprilia Black, Street Grey and Infinity Blue. With the addition of two new bikes, Aprilia now has a total of four bikes in its India portfolio. The other two are its flagship V4 models, Tuono V4 and RSV4. These are priced at Rs 20.66 lakh and Rs 23.69 lakh, respectively. The Italian manufacturer also offers 125cc and 160cc scooters in India.
Aprilia RS 660 styling and features
For track experience, Aprilia RS 660 is probably one of the suitable bikes currently available in the Indian market. It is also the true-blue head turner on the streets. The bike has an aerodynamic profile and sharp design silhouette. Deliveries have now started. National level professional racer Alisha Abdullah has taken the delivery of first Aprilia RS 660 in India.
Front fascia looks aggressive with features such as dual-beam LED headlight and integrated sleek LED DRLs. Other key features include large windshield, low-set, wide handlebar, sculpted fuel tank, underbelly exhaust, coloured wheels, and short tail.
There are three colour options for Aprilia RS 660, all of which are truly unique and drool-worthy. Most exciting is Lava Red colour option, which utilizes a mix of dark blue and bright red. Another enticing option is Apex Black, which is essentially an all-black colour theme. It utilizes red highlights for a more vibrant look and feel.

The third colour option is Acid Gold, which has a green-yellow paint. Golden USD forks are offered with all of these colour options. It works to enhance the bike’s sporty profile.
Aprilia RS 660 engine and specs
Both RS 660 and its naked sibling Tuono 660 are powered by a 659cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled motor. It is capable of generating 100 bhp of max power at 10,500 rpm and 67 Nm of peak torque at 8,500 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
RS 660 packs in a range of advanced features that were originally designed for a track environment. They have been tweaked to suit city ride conditions. Collectively, these features are available under Aprilia Performance Ride Control (APRC). The system works via various electronic components, acceleration sensors and gyroscopes.
APRC package for RS 660 includes traction control, wheelie control, cruise control, engine brake during deceleration, engine map and cornering ABS with three levels of adjustment. Another key feature is quick shift that allows fast gear shifts without the need to reduce throttle or use the clutch. Users can also downshift without having to use the clutch.
Suspension system on-board RS 660 comprises 41mm inverted front forks and monoshock suspension at rear. Braking apparatus has 320 mm double disc and 220 mm single disc and front and rear, respectively. Brembo callipers are used at both ends. Dual-channel ABS is offered as standard.
Price of Aprilia bikes is on the higher side, as they are imported into India as completely built units (CBUs). In comparison, bikes of similar capacity from Suzuki and Kawasaki are imported as CKDs. These work out cheaper, as taxation is less on CKDs as compared to CBUs. More
