  • TVS Motor Sales Sep 2020 – Apache, Jupiter, Ntorq, XL Super

A strong increase in two wheeler export volumes helped TVS register a decent YoY sales growth in September 2020
Post lockdown, as people start to go about their lives despite the continued threat of the pandemic, Indian automakers have started witnessing an upward trend in sales. The primary growth driver appears to be pent up demand from the last few dormant months, combined with a new found importance to personal transport. With festive season zooming in, things are likely to stay positive at least for the few more months.
    TVS September 2020 sales

TVS Motor Co witnessed its overall sales grow by 14% to 327,692 units last month, compared to 315,796 units in September last year. In August 2020, the two and three wheeler giant post sales of 287,398 units. The company stated that production in September 2020 increased significantly despite continued supply chain bottlenecks due to the COVID-19 crisis.
As far as two wheeler sales are concerned, TVS posted sales of 313,332 units in September 2020 as against 300,793 units during the same month in 2019. Domestic market accounted for 241,762 units which is marginally better than September 2019 figure.
    TVS Motor Sales Sep 2020
Last month, the Hosur-based manufacturer managed to dispatch 139,698 motorcycles and 103,877 scooters compared to 123,918 units and 118,612 units in September 2019 respectively. In terms of best sellers, it was the Apache which was No 1 seller in motorcycles, Jupiter was No 1 in scooters followed by NTorq. Top selling two wheeler for TVS last month was their XL Super moped, which is also the most affordable of them all.
    Export performance
It seems, TVS Motor Co’s export operations did not get affected much by the pandemic as it posted a healthy growth of 19% last month. The company dispatched 85,163 units overseas as against 71,569 units in September 2019. Two wheeler exports accounted for 71,570 units which represented a YoY growth of 24%.
    Quarterly performance
In the second quarter of the current fiscal year, TVS Motor Co’s overall two wheeler sales stood at 8.34 lakh units as against 8.42 lakh units during the same period last fiscal. The company shipped around 33,000 units of three wheelers in Q2 this year compared to around 43,000 units last year’s Q2.
The festive season is expected to offer a much needed shot in the arm for the sales momentum in October and November. The company doesn’t seem to have any big ticket launch lined up for the near future but would be hoping to maximize the potential of its existing portfolio.
Recently, TVS Motor Co invested a further INR 30 crore in Bangalore-based electric sportsbike startup Ultraviolette Automotive. The e-mobility brand is preparing to launch what is touted to be India’s most powerful electric sportsbike, the F77, next year. TVS itself is likely to expand its own e-scooter portfolio in the medium term.

The Ultraviolette F77 is slated to be launched sometime next year in a phased manner
Like in most parts of the world, India’s e-mobility scene has been spearheaded by disruptive startups rather than well established mainstream players. However, the big names usually do support such startups in the form of funding or a technological partnership.

  • TVS Motor Aug 2020 Sales Report – Apache, Jupiter, XL Super, Ntorq

Two wheeler segment of TVS has registered a marginal growth, while three wheelers has registered a decline
TVS Motor total sales of 287,398 units in Aug 2020 is down 1.05 percent, from 2,90,455 units reported in August 2019. TVS Motor Company reports 14 percent MoM sales growth in August 2020 up from 2,52,744 units in July 2020. MoM sales growth is a pattern that’s endorsed by most manufacturers.

This is on account of the fact that when business restarted in May 2020 in a phased manner, there were limitations galore. With every consequent review of ease of business, lockdown limitations have further lifted with manufacturers and dealerships depending on well structured SoPs to ensure staff and consumer safety.
    Two Wheeler Sales
Total two-wheelers sales is reported at 2,77,226 units in August 2020, up 0.49 precent from 2,75,851 units in August 2019. Domestic two-wheeler sales fell 0.54 percent to 2,18,338 units from 2,19,528 units in August 2019. Motorcycle sales grew 9.58 percent to 1,19,878 units in August 2020, up from 1,09,393 units in August 2019.
TVS Two Wheeler Sales Aug 2020
Scooter sales fell to 87,044 units at sales decline of 20.34 percent from 1,09,272 units in August 2019. Total exports fell marginally at 1.94 percent at 68,347 units, down from 69,702 units in August 2019. Two-wheeler exports grew at 4.55 percent at 58,888 units, over 56,323 units exported in August 2019.
    3 Wheeler Sales
Three-wheeler sales are registered at 10,172 units in August 2020, down 30.34 percent from 14,604 units in August 2019.?? The domestic three-wheeler segment is in a bit of a lurch considering most people have not been required to use public transport since offices have made work home a part of the solution. While market conditions continue to ease in terms of doing business, since lockdown began to be lifted in phases since May, the economic repercussion software the Covid-19 pandemic are still being evaluated.
    New Launches
In recent weeks, TVS Motor has carried out a few launches, as well as revised vehicle price. TVS Jupiter ZX with disk brake and i-Touchstart, and Ntorq Race Edition are new variant choices. The current price hike could be attributed changing market conditions, input cost increase, and current economic factors.
The Indian two wheeler market is of mammoth proportions in terms of demand and sales volume. Despite a pandemic slowdown, current sales trends denote heightened activity. In the current scenario, sales is backed by multiple factors. Deliveries that were deferred owing to lockdown are being dispatched.
To ensure financial freedom, a wider range of loan/financing options are now on offer. However, it should be kept in mind that the two-wheeler market isn’t completely dependent on vehicle financing. A good monsoon has improved disposable income, and agriculture has faired well. Buying trends also put to focus on markets outside of metros and big cities. In ensuring adequate physical distancing, personal mobility options are now a consideration. And then there’s the ever dependant festive season, a period that usually witnesses improved sales. More
