Jupiter vs Activa prices – July 2020
The price hike does not bring in any changes to the Jupiter automatic scooter which continues to sport the same features and mechanics. Though there has been no official reason given, behind the increase in prices; rising input costs is believed to be the reason.
The company could no longer afford to take the burden, which is now being transferred to the customer. Apart from increasing the price of the TVS Jupiter, the bikemaker has also increased prices of the Apache RR 310, which is the company’s flagship offering. • TVS Apache RR310 BS6 prices hiked by Rs 5k – Still cheaper than KTM RC 390

After the price hike, the new TVS Apache RR310 BS6 costs Rs 2.45 lakh ex-showroom
Hosur-based two-wheeler manufacturer TVS Motor Company has announced a price hike of Rs 5,000 for its flagship product, Apache RR310. After the revision, ex-showroom prices for the 2020MY TVS Apache RR310 BS6 start at Rs 2.45 lakh. In other words, the faired sportsbike’s improved BS6 version carries a price tag Rs 17,000 more than its phased-out original BS4 counterpart.

Its closest rival, KTM RC 390 remains more expensive at Rs 2.53 lakh ex-showroom. KTM India does not sell the RC 250 in the country even though it is manufactured at Bajaj Auto’s Chakan facility for export markets. Other alternatives in India’s budding single-cylinder faired sports motorcycle category include the KTM RC 200, Yamaha YZF-R15, Bajaj Pulsar RS200 and Hero Xtreme 200S. On the other hand, the market is witnessing a growing interest in naked sports based on the models mentioned above. The list includes the KTM 250/390 Duke, Yamaha MT-15, Bajaj NS200 among others.

The TVS Apache RR310 is one of the first products to come under the alliance between TVS Motor Company and BMW Motorrad. Though arguably late to the party, BMW Motorrad India is almost ready with its entry-level BS6-compliant G 310 R streetfighter and G 310 GS adventure touring motorcycles. Rumours suggest that they might come at a massive discount over their unreasonably expensive BS4 counterparts.
Alongside a ‘cleaner’ engine, the 2020 TVS Apache RR310 BS6 comes with a host of equipment updates. The list extends to a 5.0-inch coloured TFT instrument console, four riding modes (Rain, Urban, Sport and Track), TVS SmartXonnect connectivity suite (incorporates tract telemetry, ride planner, navigation, telephone and a secondary console),  TVS Glide Through Technology, Michelin Road 5 tubeless tyres (110/70R17 and 150/60R17), ride-by-wire, slipper clutch, etc. Other highlights include dual LED projector headlamps, dual-channel ABS, split-trellis frame, 41mm USD forks and more.
    TVS Apache RR310 BS6 – Specs
Powering the 2020MY TVS Apache RR310 is a 312.2cc liquid-cooled DOHC ‘reverse-inclined’ single-cylinder engine coupled to a 6-speed transmission. The motor churns out 33.53bhp @ 9,700rpm and 27.3Nm @ 7,700rpm. Output characteristics vary significantly depending on riding mode. The upcoming BS6 BMW G 310 siblings might receive a similar engine tuning.
Put together, the motorcycle can touch 100km/h from a standstill in 7.17 seconds (a decent figure for a 300-350cc single) before topping out at 160km/h. 0-60km/h sprint time stands at 2.93 seconds. TVS Motor Company’s flagship product has a kerb weight of 174kg and a 11-litre fuel tank. More

  • TVS Scooty Zest 110 BS6 launch price Rs 58,460 – Gets FI

The new TVS Scooty Zest 110 BS6 comes in two variants: Himalayan High Series and Matte Series
Hosur-based two-wheeler manufacturer TVS Motor Company has updated its Scooty Zest 110 petrol-CVT scooter to BS6 specifications. The new 2020MY TVS Scooty Zest 110 BS6 comes at a starting price of Rs 58,640 ex-showroom, Chennai. There are six colour choices: Red, Blue, Turquoise Blue, Purple, Yellow and Black. With this launch, the company has completely shifted its portfolio to BS6 emission norms.

Compared to its phased-out BS4 counterpart, the new BS6 Zest 110 does not carry any major revisions. The main highlight is the addition of TVS’s EcoThrust fuel injection system. Almost every budget two-wheeler on the Indian market has received an FI or at least an advanced e-carburettor system in BS6 era. There was a point in time when fuel-injected engines were a luxury among affordable motorcycles and scooters.
    Engine & Specs
TVS Motor Company states that the Scooty Zest 110 BS6 is smooth and more refined than its BS4 avatar. Performance has slightly reduced on paper, but this may not reflect in the real world. Several new BS6-compliant products have witnessed a marginal drop in output due to added restriction in their engine operation.

    TVS Scooty Zest BS6
The 109cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine generates around 7.7bhp and 8.8Nm of torque. In its carburetted BS4 format, the power plant made 7.9bhp. However, torque has improved by 0.4Nm. The TVS Scooty Zest 110 has always remained a decent performer thanks to its low kerb weight. In BS4 era, the scooter weighed just 97kg (most likely heavier now by 2-3kgs). Fuel tank capacity continues to be 5 litres. It primarily rivals Hero MotoCorp’s Pleasure+ BS6.
    Features & Highlights
The Scooty Zest 110 rides on 90/100R10 tubeless tyres at both the front and rear. They are supported by a pair of telescopic forks and a double-rated hydraulic mono suspension. Notable features or highlights include LED DRL, 19-litre underseat storage (best in the segment) with illumination; LED DRL, USB charger, etc.
Braking duties are carried out by 110mm and 130mm drum brakes at the front and rear, respectively. Most modern-day 110cc scooters sold in our market feature a front disc brake alongside CBS (Combined Braking System). However, the 2020MY TVS Scooty Zest 110 comes at a considerably lower price point.
Earlier this year, the lesser TVS Scooty Pep Plus was launched at a starting price of Rs 51,754 ex-showroom (increased by almost Rs 1,000 now). Powered by an 87.8cc air-cooled FI single-cylinder good for about 5bhp and 5.8Nm, it is the most affordable petrol-CVT scooter in India as well as the only one with engine capacity below 100cc. More

  • Amitabh Bachchan, Dhoni highlight dual platform FI tech of TVS Apache, Jupiter – Video

After sharing a teaser earlier this week, TVS Motor has now revealed the full video
Earlier this week, TVS Motor Company had shared a teaser video which had both of their brand ambassadors – Amitabh Bachchan and MS Dhoni in it. This was the first time, that both their brand ambassadors were sharing screen space for a TVS Motor commercial.

In addition to that, the teaser was on the lines of “India’s First…. Coming Soon.” Such a teaser, announcing something that is India’s First and is Coming Soon; got all TVS fans excited. In addition to that, TVS had created the teaser with both Amitabh and Dhoni in it – which got expectations even higher.
Today, TVS Motor has revealed the full TVC video. It is not what we had expected, or guessed. Take a look at the full video below.

    [embedded content]

As you can see in the video, it is not about any new product launch. The new TVS video highlights dual platform FI technology which is available with TVS products like Apache 310, Jupiter, Ntorq and Radeon.
    What is Dual Platform FI
With the BS6 norms kicking in, FI technology has become a must for all two wheelers. This has resulted in multiple benefits like smoother throttle response, more fuel efficiency, better reliability, lower emissions etc.
TVS has gone a step ahead, and tuned the FI tech as per the need of the rider. For example, in the case of Jupiter, NTorq and Radeon, where most buyers would want more mileage, TVS has tuned installed ET-FI or Eco Thrust FI technology. TVS claims that because of this tech, mileage has been increased by 15%.
In the Apache 310, which is also the flagship motorcycle of TVS, they have the RT-FI, which stands for Race Tuned FI. Buyers of Apache 310 are interested more in performance, than in getting more mileage. That is why, the FI system here is tuned differently as compared to Jupiter. TVS RTFI gives you better real throttle feel, improving your riding experience, especially on the race track.
Depending on the requirement of the owner of the respective two wheeler, TVS has developed these special FI technologies, which they are calling Dual Platform FI. And yes, this is India’s First such technology. More

  • TVS teaser video with Amitabh and Dhoni – India’s First.. coming soon

TVS Motor Company has released a new teaser video today, with their brand ambassadors Amitabh Bachchan and MS Dhoni
Corona virus cases are increasing exponentially. But at the same time, it is no longer a situation like March / April, when the entire country was in a lockdown. Despite threat of corona virus, economy and businesses are slowly moving back to normal, or atleast it looks like that. Auto industry too has registered an increase in sales.

Car and bike sales are on the rise, especially in rural India. Manufacturers are getting used to the new normal, and resuming operations – from starting production at plant with social distancing to selling their products online (without any need of human contact). Work on pending / upcoming projects has also started. Testing of upcoming cars and bikes has also resumed.
Launches have gotten delayed, plans will probably miss timeline. But the important thing is that the industry is trying very hard to get back to normal. Just like others, TVS Motor Company is also bouncing back. Earlier today, they shared an interesting teaser video, which can be seen below.
    India’s First… Coming Soon

    [embedded content]

*Please note that the teaser video above was most likely shot many weeks / months ago. Mr Bachchan is currently in the hospital as he has tested positive for Covid-19.
The video features TVS Motor Company’s brand ambassadors Amitabh Bachchan and Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Mr Bachchan has been brand ambassador for TVS Jupiter and has starred in multiple TVCs and print ads of the TVS Scooter. On the other hand, MS Dhoni has been seen promoting the Start City motorcycle. He was also seen at the launch of Apache 310.
So the two stars coming together, for the first time in a TVS Motor commercial – does make wonder, what is brewing? Not much is revealed in the video. Except for the fact that something is coming soon from TVS Motor Company, and it is going to be India’s First. But what it could be? Could it be a new two wheeler?
    What is it?

Are they talking about the iQube electric scooter which was launched a few weeks before the lockdown. Or is it a brand new motorcycle – Apache 310 naked? Or is TVS going to launch something completely new – a cruiser? We all know that TVS had showcased Zeppelin cruiser back at the 2018 Auto Expo. Zeppelin cruiser had multiple new technologies on board, and probably fits the India’s First teaser video above.
Or is it something under the Norton brand? TVS had recently acquired British motorcycle brand Norton – are they planning to launch a Norton anytime soon? Other pending launches from TVS Motor includes BS6 variants of Scooty Zest motorcycle and Victor motorcycle. Is it going to be a new moped?
It is also possible that it is not a motorcycle or a scooter. The teaser video shared by TVS on Youtube is with the title – “Stay tuned for a first-time experience.” Whatever it is, we will soon get to know. More
