New TVS Scooter Teased Ahead Of Launch – Jupiter Facelift?

New TVS Scooter TeasedWith the new upcoming vehicle, TVS Motor will further expand its market share in India’s scooter segment, which should launch soonTVS Motor, one of India’s leading 2W and 3W vehicle manufacturers, has announced the launch of a new product. Company’s invite didn’t reveal a lot of information about this new product. However, it looks like a scooter launch. Thus spawning speculations of it being Jupiter facelift. Let’s take a look.New TVS Scooter TeasedIf there is one 2W manufacturer in India who can develop a new product under the radar, it has to be TVS Motor. Not that test mules by TVS never get papped. They do. However, there have been a few products from TVS that went completely under the radar without any hints whatsoever. TVS Raider 125 is a stark example. We haven’t been able to get our hands on any spy shots of a new TVS scooter as of yet. But the product seems to have been developed and ready to launch sometime shortly. The invite doesn’t say a lot. Leaving us enthusiasts, second-guessing about what the next vehicle from TVS might be.What could it be?To understand what this product might be, we have to realise what TVS currently lacks in its portfolio. For starters, TVS currently lacks a sporty 110cc scooter. Say, a 110cc Ntorq (or Ntorq equivalent). This vehicle will take on the likes of 110cc Honda Dio.2024 TVS iQube RangeBut even without a 110cc option, Ntorq 125 is close to Dio in terms of sales. For context, TVS sold close to 28K Ntorq 125 scooters in June 2024, while Honda sold close to 33K Dio (110cc and 125cc combined) in the same period.Another possibility could be a sportier electric scooter. For the entirety of its electric mobility journey, TVS has sold iQube electric scooter, which is a family-oriented scooter. And then, TVS X was launched, which is a sporty offering. That said, owing to its high price tag, TVS X has not made the same impact as Ather 450 range has made among thrill seekers and enthusiasts. That may be one of the areas that TVS is looking to further expand its electric scooter portfolio and better impact the lucrative Indian electric mobility space.TVS XIs it a Jupiter facelift?Another possibility is a facelifted version of TVS Jupiter ICE family scooter. Jupiter has emerged as TVS’ best-selling product across all genres. A facelift for this winning formula is long overdue and might further expand TVS’ market share in the scooter segment.Jupiter is currently offered in both 110cc and 125cc powertrain options. If there is a Jupiter facelift, that will continue to be offered with both 110cc and 125cc options. We can expect the same TFT screen on this scooter as Raider 125, TVS’ proprietary SmartXonnect connectivity with navigation, LED lighting all around and other elements.TVS Jupiter 125 SmartXonnect Variant launchedAlso read – TVS Jupiter CNG testing commenced More

TVS Jupiter CNG Testing Starts – Codename U740 Launch Within 3 to 12 Months

Image for illustration onlyKnown for its R&D prowess, TVS could introduce various segment-first features with its CNG scooterA few days back, Bajaj launched the world’s first CNG motorcycle. Now, reports indicate that TVS is working on a similar project. With possibilities of a festive season launch, TVS Jupiter CNG will be the world’s first CNG scooter.TVS Jupiter CNG scooter – What to expect?Reports indicate that TVS has been working on multiple alternate fuel options for its two-wheelers. One of these is a CNG powertrain that is already in a ready-to-use format. It just needs to be integrated with the Jupiter scooter. The project is internally codenamed U740 and the development of the 125cc CNG scooter is already underway.TVS Jupiter. Image for illustrationTVS Jupiter CNG scooter – launch dateAlthough the CNG powertrain is reported to be ready, the integration with Jupiter 125 may take some time. The upcoming festive season can be a good opportunity to introduce the world’s first CNG scooter. But considering that new components and safety features have to be rigorously tested, the launch may take a bit longer. It can stretch to the end of 2024 or the first quarter of 2025. However, to get the first mover advantage, launch of TVS Jupiter CNG bike may not be delayed beyond the first half of 2025.Modest production goalsTVS has plans to sell around 1,000 units of its CNG scooter per month. The company’s focus is on providing a cleaner alternative to users and also to reduce its carbon footprint. While evaluating alternative fuel options, TVS will continue to focus on ICE and EV segments. Later this year, TVS has plans to launch an entirely new electric vehicle. A new ICE vehicle is also scheduled for launch this year. An electric 3-wheeler will be introduced as well.It remains to be seen if TVS will offer a dual-fuel CNG + Petrol option or go with CNG alone. While the dual-fuel option will be more useful, a CNG-only variant can reduce the ownership cost. A dual-fuel setup requires additional components, something that increases the cost of the scooter. Talking about the price, TVS Jupiter CNG scooter could start at under Rs 1 lakh. The petrol-powered Jupiter 125 is currently available at a starting price of Rs 79,000.Other brands could also introduce CNG two-wheelersIt is to note that the government has been encouraging two-wheeler brands to introduce CNG options for consumers. It won’t be surprising that other players in the commuter segment such as Hero MotoCorp and Honda also announce similar plans soon. CNG two-wheelers can significantly reduce the fuel cost burden on the masses. It will also help reduce the country’s energy import bills. The government has launched new policies that will help increase domestic production of CNG. As compared to crude oil reserves, India has larger reserves of natural gas. With extraction of natural gas from newly discovered reserves, India can reduce its dependence on CNG imports.Source More

We’re talking about the recently unveiled TVS Racing E-OMC (Electric One-Make Championship). Company had taken the wraps off TVS Apache RTE motorcycles specifically built for this championship some time ago. TVS is India’s first OEM to foray into EV racing.Combining electric mobility and racing, we get the new Apache RTE bikes. These are fully-faired track machines that boast best-in-class power-to-weight ratio. TVS has developed Apache RTE motorcycles in collaboration with a few partners. Sharp styling and TVS Racing Factory livery are notable attributes. This motorcycle is based on a custom carbon fibre chassis that also acts as the bike’s battery case. Thus reducing bike’s overall weight and increasing chassis stiffness and rigidity, should allow for better handling on the track.Fairing is beautifully crafted and is touted to have best-in-class aerodynamic efficiency. Apart from that, TVS Apache RTE packs top-notch components like Brembo brake callipers, Ohlins suspension setups and Pirelli Super Corsa tyres.Track performanceSpeaking about the capabilities of this motorcycle, TVS Apache RTE can hit 200 km/h top speed owing to its aerodynamic fairing with lowest-in-class air drag coefficient. The battery is a race-spec high-power cell unit and is mated to a liquid-cooled motor and a potent motor controller.TVS has developed an advanced BMS (Battery Management System) for this application. Because it has race-spec batteries, the motorcycle is likely to have just enough range for track work and is not aimed at ekeing out leading range figures.TVS MD Sudarshan Venu With Apache RTE Race MachineAt Round 1 of INMRC 2024 event, as many as eight riders competed in an action-packed four-lap race.
