TVS Creon Based Electric Scooter Spied Testing For First Time ?

With electric two-wheeler sales registering strong growth, it’s an opportune time for OEMs to expand their EV portfolioFirst spy shot of TVS Creon Electric Scooter?India’s third largest two-wheeler manufacturer, TVS has allocated funds worth Rs 1,000 crore for development of new electric vehicles. It will include electric scooters, motorcycles and three-wheelers. One of the upcoming electric scooters could be based on the Creon Concept that was showcased at 2018 Auto Expo. A test mule with similar design was recently spotted on road tests in Bengaluru.TVS had marked its entry in EV space with iQube and recently launched the updated 2022 model. A total of three variants are on offer, iQube, iQube S and iQube ST. While the new iQube offers higher range and new features, its design and styling are largely the same as the earlier model. Among the list of cosmetic changes are 10 new colour options.2023 TVS Creon Electric ScooterIn comparison to iQube, TVS new Creon-based electric scooter will have sharper, more aggressive styling. While iQube comes across as classy and elegant, TVS new electric scooter is likely to get a sporty, maxi-styled profile. It will be positioned primarily as a performance-oriented two-wheeler, as compared to the utilitarian iQube. Some key features that the test mule reveals include an aggressive, muscular front fascia, large instrument panel, step-up seat design and integrated grab rails. Some features such as the rectangular rear view mirrors appear to be borrowed from iQube.TVS Creon ConceptA number of other components could also be borrowed from iQube to reduce development and production cost. Riding posture seems fairly comfortable with low-seat height and ergonomically-placed handlebar. The seat is long and wide and there’s ample space for pillion rider as well.TVS Creon-based electric scooter performanceAs compared to iQube, TVS Creon-based electric scooter is likely to have higher numbers in terms of things like power output, acceleration, top speed, etc. Creon Concept showcased at 2018 Auto Expo was equipped with triple battery packs that generated 12 kW of power. The scooter’s range was claimed at around 80 km and it could accelerate from 0 to 60 kmph in 5.1 seconds. For practical purposes, TVS new electric scooter could utilize a tweaked version of the existing powertrain used with new iQube. Top-spec variant of the new iQube is equipped with dual battery packs. These are IP67 rated against dust and water. The battery packs are enclosed inside high strength aluminium extrusion casing, which ensures effective protection against the elements.TVS Creon ConceptiQube utilizes a 4.4 khW motor that can accelerate from 0-40 kmph in just 4.2 seconds. New TVS Scooter Patent Leaks – Powered By Hydrogen

TVS is the first mainstream two wheeler manufacturer to implement Hydrogen powertrain on a scooter prototypeImage for representation purpose onlyTVS Motor sold 2,99,658 units in July 2022 constituting both domestic and export sales with a steady 14.06% growth YoY. TVS was in the spotlight recently because of the launch of their new motorcycle Ronin. They are back in the news, this time for a patent leak.TVS is developing a new prototype scooter that is powered by hydrogen. You might have heard of hydrogen fuel-cell-powered cars like Toyota Mirai. Or other hydrogen-powered concept vehicles like Suzuki Crosscage and Honda’s unnamed prototype. This is probably the first time a mainstream two wheeler brand is trying something like this.Yamaha, along with Toyota has designed a 100% hydrogen-powered V8 engine. But the concept of hydrogen fuel-cell on a modest scooter and aimed at masses, was unheard of. But TVS is implementing it on the iQube scooter with easy assembly and maintenance in mind. As good as EVs are, charging time is still a fly in the ointment. Hence, manufacturers have been slowly experimenting with substitutes. Honda is even working on flex-fuel technology too for budget vehicles.TVS iQube HydrogenIn the patent drawings of TVS iQube hydrogen, we can see the basic layout of the entire powertrain, except for the motor. We can see an electric battery at the floorboard which suggests that TVS might be considering hydrogen fuel cells as a range extender to an already existing EV platform.TVS iQube HydrogenSpeaking of hydrogen, we can see two canisters holding this compressed gas at the front, held in place by the front downtube. Fuel cells are housed under the seat, where a battery would be in a conventional EV. We can also see other components required to regulate gaseous fuel like pressure regulator, flow-meter and shut-off valve, all taking their respective place near swingarm.Hydrogen fuel cells are the party piece of this powertrain. It generates electricity when hydrogen is pumped into Anode and gets split by reacting with the catalyst to form electrons and protons. These electrons flow towards Cathode by completing the electrical circuit. Hence creating electric current to power the motor, and propel the vehicle. It doesn’t end there. At cathode, hydrogen and oxygen combine to form the by-product, water.Implications Of Hydrogen In IndiaHydrogen fuel cells promise zero carbon footprint like EVs. But negate the charging time and infrastructure that is currently plaguing EVs. Normal hydro-carbon fuel stations and existing fuel transportation systems can be readily used or slightly modified to accommodate hydrogen fuel supply and workflow. Looking at the upsides, most countries are considering hydrogen to be better than EVs.But it is not all sunshine, though. Right now, hydrogen is vastly created by splitting water molecules with very high energy inputs. We are wasting a lot of electricity to make hydrogen and then we are using it to generate significantly less electricity to run the vehicle. The secondary losses are a lot more which EVs are not associated with. And coming to the “green” part, electricity to split water molecules comes from coal mostly and hydrogen is distributed by transportation burning diesel fuel. Hydrogen has potential, but we have to find an economical and renewable way to produce it and supply it.Source More

TVS Motor Sales July 2022 – Jupiter, Apache, Ntorq, iQube, XL100

TVS Motor reports YoY growth for two wheeler domestic sales and exports; MoM total 2W sales improveImage – MRD VlogsFor July 2022, TVS Motor found a spring in its step where domestic sales and exports are gauged. Total motorcycle sales last month rose to 1.5L units, up from 1,38,772 units. Volume gain stood at 11.5k units at 8.34 percent. Where business is concerned, motorcycles make up much of its sales volume. Apache, Raider, Sport, Star City, Radeon were top selling motorcycles from TVS.Scooter sales improved noticeably last month, up at 1,10,19 units from 73,811 units. Volume gain stood at 36,385 units at 49.29 percent growth. Jupiter and Ntorq continued to be best-selling scooters from TVS. TVS iQube electric scooter sales in July 2022 were at 6,304 units. This is the highest ever monthly sales reported by iQube.TVS Motor Sales July 2022 – Two WheelersWhile most categories are reported in the green, TVS XL 100 moped sales continue to lose their footing. Sales are down to 39,122 units from 50,145 units at volume loss of 11k units. Sales decline stands at 22 percent. In fact, TVS moped sales have been on a decline for months together.Of total two-wheeler sales, volumes in the domestic market far exceeded exports last month. 2W domestic sales crossed the 2 lakh units mark at 2,01,942 units. Sales growth stood at 15.28 units, up from 1,75,169 units at volume gain of 26,773 units.TVS Motor Sales July 2022 vs July 2021 (YoY)Two wheeler exports too are up at 97,716 units from 87,559 units. Volume gain was reported at just over 10k units at 11.6 percent growth. Total 2W sales fell just shy of 3L units. At 2,99,658 units, growth is reported at 14 percent, up from 2,62,728 units. Volume gain is reported at almost 37k units.Total TVS 3W sales for July 2022Three-wheeler ales on the other hand are a mix of low volume and decline. Domestic 3W volume is small at 665 units. This however is an improvement YoY, up from 553 units. Growth is reported at 20 percent at volume gain of 112 units. It’s no surprise though that ICE 3W sales face tough competition from e3W manufacturers. A segment where sales is improving, and even more positive is that fact that the market is peppered by a long list of manufacturers who are new to the trade.3W exports fell to 14,316 units, down from 15,574 units. Volume loss stood at 1,258 units at 8 percent decline. Total 3W sales is down at just below 15k units from 16,127 units. Volume loss stood at 1,146 units at 7.11 percent decline. Despite the slowfooting on the 3W front, total domestic sales and exports remained in the green.TVS Motor Sales July 2022 vs June 2022 (MoM)TVS MoM sales growth for July 2022Total domestic sales stood at 2,02,607 units, up from 1,75,722 units. TVS Apache 310 ADV Render Based On BMW G310GS – New Fiero ?

TVS Apache 310 ADV if launched, will be powered by the same 312cc as the BMW G 310 GSTVS Apache 310 ADV As Fiero 310 – RenderTVS recently launched the Ronin scrambler-style motorcycle in India. It comes with a unique mix of characters from scrambler, cruiser and street bikes in one. It doesn’t blend together well though as it tries to place its feet (tyre, in this case) on three different boats at the same time.Ronin launch left us thinking as to why TVS did not launch an ADV, which is all the rage in India currently. So much so, that manufacturers like Honda and Suzuki are making pseudo ADVs just to go halfway at least towards the adventure-tourer genre.Compared to creating Ronin, TVS could have created an ADV motorcycle using far less resources. They could have used the current Apache 200 platform to make an ADV to rival the likes of Hero Xpulse 200 or used their Apache 310 platform and made something to take on KTM 390 ADV.TVS Apache 310 GS ADVUntil now, it was believed that TVS was not launching an ADV based on the 310 platform because BMW had one on offer on the same platform. It is on this platform that TVS had a fully faired motorcycle on offer, while BMW had a naked and ADV on offer. But with the recent launch of BMW G 310 RR, which is basically a rebadged Apache 310, it is likely that we will get to see a rebadged Apache 310 ADV, based on G310GS.TVS Apache 310 ADV As Fiero 310 – RenderRendering artist Pratyush Raut has digitally imagined TVS Apache 310 ADV, and given it the name TVS Fiero 310. You can call it TVS Apache GS 310, but we doubt if BMW will be happy to share their GS tag. Please note that the renderings in this post are created by an independent artist and are not commissioned or approved by TVS.This reverse-inclined 312.2 cc firecracker single-cylinder engine makes 33.52 bhp of power at 9,700 RPM and 27.3 Nm of torque at 7,700 RPM. It is mated to a slick-shifting 6-speed gearbox and gets modern technology like ride-by-wire throttle enabling creep mode. TVS Apache GS 310 ADV weighs a decent 174 kg which increases the power-to-weight ratio when compared to other track-focused machines.Specs & PricingIt gets a low 810 mm seat height helping shorter riders to get on and off the motorcycle. BMW recently updated the colour schemes on the G 310 GS. Our render of TVS Apache 310 GS gets three shades inspired by TVS Apache RR 310. A Slick Red, which resembles the Racing Red colour, a Stealth Black resembling the Titanium Black colour TVS offers on Apache RR 310.TVS Apache 310 ADV As Fiero 310 – RenderThe third colour is something of our own imagination which we call, Minimalist White. Unlike the other two shades that play with black and red splashes on the trellis frame, tank and other places, Minimalist White is entirely blacked out: Except for the fuel tank that gets a white shade and the red frame tubes. This looks the best according to me at least as it brings out the purest colours on earth, Black, White and Red.TVS hasn’t confirmed if they have an ADV on their cards yet. But it is a glaring omission from one of the largest mainstream motorcycle manufacturers in India. If TVS goes this route and launches a rebranded BMW, it could be priced lower than the G310GS, which is priced at about Rs 3.1 lakh, ex-sh currently. More

TVS iQube Electric Scooter Sales Near 5k – Production To Increase

TVS bullish on electric mobility; EVs expected to capture 30% of scooter market and around 35% of three-wheeler segment by 2025Image – Gentleman bikesWith huge unlocked potential in electric two-wheeler and three-wheeler segments, TVS has been making huge investments in this space. After last year’s investment of Rs 1,000 crore, TVS Motor has announced another 1,000 crore investment this year. Most of the funds will be utilized for capacity expansion and development of new EV products.TVS senses a big opportunity in EV space, as there’s no clear winner at this point of time. It’s a constant battle, as dozens of EV companies have forayed into EV space. TVS has potential to become one of the top EV companies, as it has technical capabilities, abundant resources and the advantages that come with a pan-India dealer network. TVS is currently in top 10, but trails behind Okinawa, Hero Electric, Ola Electric, Ampere and Ather.25k monthly production by 2022 – 50k by 2023TVS recently launched upgraded iQube that has received significant number of bookings. TVS Motor MD Sudarshan Venu has said that they will be launching another new EV later this year. In June 2022, iQube posted its highest ever monthly sales till date, recording 4,667 units. Last 12 month avg sales of iQube has increased to 1,546 units while that of Bajaj Chetak for the same period is 1,121 units. With fresh investments, TVS aims to increase iQube electric scooter production to 25k units per month by the end of this year. This will be more than twice the existing production capacity figures. By 2023, TVS will aim to increase production capacity by 100%, making it 50k units per month. This will entail production capacity of around 5-6 lakh units per year.Bajaj Chetak vs TVS iQube electric scooter sales – last 12 monthsA significant percentage of the investments made by TVS have been routed through its overseas subsidiaries. For example, around Rs 1,100 crore have been channelled through TVS Singapore. These funds have been invested in other subsidiaries such as Swiss e-Mobility Group (SEMG) that received around Rs 750 crore. TVS had acquired SEMG earlier this year with a 75% stake in the company.Another trench of funds of Rs 130 crore was allocated for EGO Corporation. This Swiss-based e-bike company was acquired by TVS last year in an all-cash deal. Remaining funds were transferred to Norton Motorcycle. Till date, TVS Motor’s total investments routed through TVS Singapore were at Rs 1,892 crore in FY22. In the year ago period, the numbers were at Rs 809 crore. In addition to investment in its subsidiaries, TVS also allocated funds worth Rs 730 crore for capital expenditure in FY22. As compared to last year’s figures, YoY growth is 31%. The total of investments and capital expenditure by TVS in FY22 works out at around Rs 2,100 crore. Due to these massive investments, TVS free cash flow had turned negative. This was despite improved operating performance, powered by higher sales and cost reduction. This shows that the company is bullish on EV space and has made aggressive plans to establish a strong presence.Focus on ICE segment tooWhile TVS has been making massive investments in EV space, it is not being done at the expense of its mainstream internal combustion engine (ICE) portfolio. TVS is working to revamp its ICE portfolio with entry into new segments. TVS is currently popular for its affordable commuter bikes and performance-oriented Apache range. The company is planning to introduce new premium lifestyle products, like new Ronin. The company is hopeful that market sentiments will remain favourable, which will help achieve desired growth in both ICE and electric mobility segments.Source More

TVS Apache 310 Owner Modifies His Motorcycle To Look Like BMW G310RR

BMW G310RR has been officially launched in India at a starting price of Rs 2.85 lakh – Rs 20k more than TVS Apache RR 310TVS Apache 310 Modified to look like BMW G310RRBMW Motorrad had developed a winning formula in collaboration with TVS. This formula of a 310cc platform that both companies could utilize, has worked wonders for both. TVS created Apache 310, a fully faired track focused road bike while BMW created G310R, a naked street bike and G310GS, an adventure tourer. Now a 4th motorcycle has been launched on this platform.BMW has launched a fully-faired and track-focused machine named G310RR. This baby RR model is based on TVS Apache RR 310. BMW was expected to make at least some design changes on the G310RR. But that is not the case.TVS Apache 310 Owner Modifies MotorcycleAll four motorcycles are manufactured by TVS at their plant in India. In the past, we saw TVS and BMW keeping their 310cc motorcycles very different from each other. In fact they were serving different segments. BMW even priced their motorcycles a lot more, which were later reduced. This is the first time both manufacturers have entered in the same segment of motorcycle. When BMW had first announced the launch of G310RR, many expected it to be a different machine than Apache 310. But the G310RR is the same as TVS Apache 310, with a new colour, more price, and minus a few features. What the BMW G310RR has, and TVS Apache 310 does not, is a quickshifter.[embedded content][embedded content]Of course some fans were not happy. But this has made the job easier for those Apache 310 owners, who like the BMW badge more. One such owner is Arman Zunaid, who has successfully modified his Apache 310 motorcycle to look like the BMW G310RR Style Sport variant, that has an ex-sh price tag of Rs 2.99 lakh. Apache 310 has a price tag of Rs 2.65 lakh, while the BMW livery wrap costs about Rs 10k.In the video above, Arman explains in detail the differences between the Apache 310 and the new G310RR. He claims that the only feature missing in his Apache 310, and is present in the G310RR, is a quickshifter. Please note that Rushlane is not responsible for content from external sites.Specs & CompetitionBMW G310RR gets the same 312.2cc engine making 33.52 bhp of power at 9,700 RPM and 27.3 Nm of torque at 7,700 RPM in Race and Track mode. In Rain mode and Urban Mode, this engine only makes 25 bhp and 25 Nm. It also gets the same 6-speed gearbox. This engine is also mounted on the same trellis frame too. This reverse inclined motor is first in the segment that helps mass centralization and centre of gravity.BMW G310RRBMW has only made changes to colour scheme and graphics while the rest of the machine is identical to Apache RR 310 it is based on. If you ask us, it is not a bad thing as TVS Apache RR 310 was a banger, to begin with. Priced at Rs. 2.85 lakh (ex-sh), BMW G310RR competes with KTM RC 390, TVS Apache RR 310 and Kawasaki Ninja 300.But the Rs. 20,000 increment for the BMW badge is a little illogical. Especially when the same Rs. 20,000 can be spent on TVS’ brilliant BTO packages that gets fully adjustable front USD forks and rear monoshock from KYB. This adjustable suspension has been completely given a miss by BMW. The German brand has in fact deleted some TVS exclusive features that worked only through their proprietary software like SmartXonnect. So, Bluetooth connectivity and all associated features are gone for Rs. 20,000 – 35,000 addition. Value for money? More

Bajaj Avenger 220 Vs New TVS Ronin 225 Vs Dominar 250 – Compared

TVS Ronin has multiple personalities and a cruiser is one of them tooNew TVS RoninEver since TVS Ronin was launched, we have been scratching our heads a little as to where the product lands. We compared it to Bajaj counterparts like Pulsar 250 and Dominar 250. But Bajaj’s products aren’t trying to be the Jack of all trades. They’re razor-sharp in their product placement.Pulsar N250 is a street motorcycle and Pulsar F250 is a semi-faired motorcycle with relatively sharp handling and offers some wind protection. If we look at Bajaj Dominar 250, it has long-leggedness with a 6th gear and is pitted as a power cruiser. But Ronin aims to be a scrambler, a cruiser and a street bike in one. To compare its versatility, we pit it against a proper low-slung cruiser from Bajaj, the Avenger 220 Cruise.Bajaj Avenger 220 Vs New TVS Ronin 225Both engines displace around 220cc but that’s where similarities end. Ronin is a newer machine and it shows in the spec sheets. Ronin makes 20.4 PS at 7750 RPM whereas Avenger makes 19 PS at 8500 RPM. TVS has tuned Ronin’s engine to make more torque at less RPM. It makes 19.93 Nm at 3750 RPM while Avenger makes 17.55 Nm at 7000 RPM.Even though both motorcycles get 5-speed gearbox, Ronin gets a slip and assist clutch which aids rider comfort and ensures smooth shifts. In terms of features, Ronin gets adjustable clutch and brake levers, USD forks at front from Showa, mono-shock suspension at the rear, switchable ride modes, disc brakes at both ends and dual-channel ABS option.Bajaj Avenger 220 vs TVS Ronin 225 vs Bajaj Dominar 250Other features include 17” alloy wheels, tubeless all-terrain tyres with block pattern, LED lighting throughout, SmartXonnect system with Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, notification alerts and voice assistant too. TVS Ronin absolutely stomps Bajaj Avenger in terms of features.Bajaj Avenger AdvantagesBajaj Avenger series is often called ‘sasta Royal Enfield’. But Avenger is more of a low-slung cruiser than Royal Enfields. Same attributes hold true when pitted against Ronin too. Avenger gets a 737mm low-slung seating position, it has long handlebars that easily fall into hands, it has immensely supportive and cushioned seats, front set foot pegs, a 1490mm long wheelbase ensuring straight-line stability, 15” wheels at back and more.It would help Avenger if it gets tubeless tyres, modern feel-good features, modern hardware and components and smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth. As of now, the closest thing Avenger gets in terms of Bluetooth is the blue illuminated Bajaj logo that lights up for no reason apparently and mimics a Bluetooth logo.In terms of pricing, Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise is cheaper than Ronin. It is priced at Rs. 1,38,368 (ex-sh). Whereas TVS Ronin prices start from Rs. 1,49,000 (ex-sh) for SS variant and go all the way to Rs. 1,70,750 for (ex-sh) TD variant.
