Triumph Speedmaster 400 renderTo push volumes in middle-weight motorcycle segment, Bajaj Auto is planning a new Triumph 400, updated 390 range and moreThe strategic partnership between Bajaj and Triumph has resulted in the much-needed portfolio expansion of Triumph brand to incorporate affordable motorcycles. The company has launched two motorcycles on the new 400cc single-cylinder platform. Bajaj Auto CEO, Rajiv Bajaj, has revealed that there is a new Triumph motorcycle to be revealed later this year.Rajiv Bajaj Confirms New Triumph 400 LaunchThe company is expected to go on a product offensive in premium middle-weight motorcycle segment. Speaking to CNBC TV18, he said “There will be at least one more Triumph to be introduced later this year and there are several in development”. There is a very good probability of Bajaj referring to Thruxton 400.Triumph Thruxton 400 bikini fairing spied. Image – Auto StreetTriumph Thruxton 400 is a semi-faired motorcycle that has been spotted testing already. It bears the design of the iconic Thruxton R with its bikini fairing. Said motorcycle will be positioned on a similar 400cc platform as Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X. It will bear the iconic charm of a Cafe Racer genre and will be a unique proposition at around 2.5 lakh (ex-sh).Rajiv Bajaj has also hinted at several other Triumph motorcycles being in development. Probable motorcycles would cater to multiple genres. After Roadster, Scrambler and Cafe Racer, there could be a Bobber with Bonneville or Speedmaster name, a fully-faired machine with Daytona name, or even a capable ADV with Tiger Sport name.Triumph Thruxton 400 RenderPushing the middle-weight segment envelopeAccording to Rajiv Bajaj, middle-weight motorcycle space is the most lucrative segment in the world. Bajaj aims to be in the top three of any given segment. Within middle-weight motorcycle segment, Bajaj currently sells Dominar 400 and the recently launched Pulsar NS400Z along with Speed 400 twins and the 390 range with partner brands like Triumph, Husqvarna and KTM.Currently, this segment is dominated by Royal Enfield with a slew of 350cc and 450cc motorcycles. Bajaj aims to inch closer towards Royal Enfield’s numbers. Bajaj mentioned that the company aims to reach the 35,000 motorcycles per month mark in this segment. Which is about half the volume of what Royal Enfield is currently pushing. To meet this goal, Bajaj is on the verge of launching multiple new motorcycles. We should expect a new 390 Adventure, 390 Enduro and new RC 390 under the KTM brand. Under their own Bajaj brand, we can expect a new Dominar with updated features or even a fully faired version of Pulsar NS400Z (RS400Z ?).The Z in the recently launched Pulsar NS400Z is a hint that there will be more motorcycles launched with this suffix. Currently, Pulsar NS400Z is only on sale in India and is soon to be launched in Latin American markets. In India, Bajaj has struck a tremendously aggressive price point of Rs. 1.85 lakh (ex-sh) and is offered in a sole variant with all features as standard. Also read – Bajaj Plans 5-6 CNG motorcycles by 2025Source More

Triumph 400 New Custom Colour. Image – Ramaswami120Along with the new custom paint jobs, users can also choose from two distinct set of graphics for the fuel tankTriumph’s lowest priced bikes, Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X, have emerged as popular options in the sub-middleweight motorcycle segment. While no one’s questioning the attractive design and powerful performance of these bikes, only three colour options are available for each bike.Four new custom shades for Speed 400, Scrambler 400XApparently, consumer tastes and preferences are a lot more diverse when it comes to their favourite colour. As a fix, a Triumph dealership in Pune is offering custom colour options for Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X.Triumph 400 Custom ColoursWhile factory shades for Speed 400, Scrambler 400X are pretty good, the timeless design of these bikes can surely accommodate a lot more experimentations with the colour palette. Something similar is now being done by the Pune-based BU Bhandari Triumph dealership. One of the custom colours that stands out is a radiant Yellow shade. It presents a pretty picture in combination with the golden coloured USD forks. The Yellow shade is probably the most attractive among the custom colours being offered for Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X. Other colour options on offer include a white, silver and a black & red dual-tone colour scheme.Triumph 400 Custom ColoursThe application of the custom shades is limited to the fuel tank. It will appeal even more to users who are especially interested in a particular colour shade.Triumph 400 Custom ColoursNew custom graphics for Speed 400, Scrambler 400XAlong with the new colour shades, users can also choose from two distinct graphics options. Triumph Speed 400 Swingarm Breaks – Owner Shares Details

Triumph Speed 400 Swingarm BreaksThe 4 days old Triumph Speed 400 swingarm breaks within 560km reading on odometer while riding on smooth tarmac returning from Solang to ManaliTriumph India is on the verge of expanding its global presence by launching affordable single-cylinder motorcycles in partnership with Bajaj. Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X are the first launches with Thruxton 400 in the pipeline. In a rather shocking turn of events, a 4 days old Triumph Speed 400 has had its swingarm broken in two.4 Days Old Triumph Speed 400 Swingarm Breaks In TwoEsteemed motoring journalist Jeremy Clarkson once introduced an old Toyota Corolla hatchback as the world’s fastest car. Sure, it only had a 1.8L petrol engine and no modifications at all. Reason was, it being a rental vehicle. He further elaborated that said rental car had 140 bhp from the moment he started the engine till the moment he crashed it.Triumph Speed 400 Swingarm BreaksWe mention this reference because the 4 days old Triumph Speed 400 with a broken swingarm is a rental vehicle too and this particular incident seems to have happened in the hands of a client. Owner of said Speed 400 is Abhinav Sood, who runs a motorcycle rental business over the past 10 years with over 130 motorcycles in possession.Of these 130, 8 motorcycles are from Triumph and only one of them has had swingarm breaking issue. Abhinav Sood explained on their Facebook post that motorcycle in question had clocked just 560 km on the odometer in 4 days of ownership. This is normal mileage for a rental vehicle.Triumph Speed 400 Swingarm BreaksHe further explained that this incident happened on a smooth tarmac while returning to Manali from Solang and was not an off-road situation. Mr Sood further claims that the motorcycle was not abused at all and there is nothing that hit this swingarm to break it. He did mention a sliding situation where this motorcycle seems to have fallen and caused this.Spare parts availability of Triumph 400s is very difficultOwner Abhinav Sood raised concerns for safety of his clients who often go to challenging spots in Himalayas like Zanskar, Sach Pass and Ladakh. Many of his clients usually carry luggage and even camping equipment and the swingarm breaking issue puts him in a difficult position to rent out Triumphs.Triumph uses the same cast-aluminium swingarm on Scrambler 400X as well, which is designed to take on beaten paths. There must have been robust engineering on this swingarm to test Scrambler 400X’s hypothetical jumps and landings along with sustainability in harsh terrain where Scrambler 400X is advertised to go.Triumph Speed 400 Swingarm BreaksSocial media users of the said group where this post has been shared, comments section suggest that Bajaj and Triumph should acquire this particular unit from Abinav Sood running BRM Expeditions and perform rigorous testing. One user claims that this would determine if this swingarm needs re-engineering with material choice or metallurgical process. Also, owner Abhinav Sood raised serious concerns regarding lack of availability of spare parts for this brand-new product. Supporting vehicle owners with spare parts is crucial to retain the trust of said owners.Source More
