    2022 Suzuki Hayabusa Gets With New White Colour Option

    Suzuki Hayabusa got a generation upgrade earlier this year and despite minimal updates, owners suggest that the ride experience has been amplified a few notches higher. Add to that the fully-faired beast looks stunning and aesthetically pleasing to eyes. The latest iteration of the Busa, until now, was earlier available in two paint schemes.
    2022 Suzuki Hayabusa White – New Colour
    The Japanese bikemaker has another colour option to the palette in the form of Pearl Brilliant White with Metallic Matte Stellar Blue accents for the 2022 Hayabusa. Prior to this, the fully-faired sports tourer was available with Glass Sparkle Black with Candy Burnt Gold and Metallic Matte Sword Silver with Candy Daring Red which continues to be offered.
    The latest paint scheme benefits from the white body panels with minor chrome accents which provide a bright and uplifting stance. Accentuating its premium appeal are Matte Stellar Blue accents on the front bezels outlining the headlamp, air scoops on side fairings, and rear seat outline panel. Rest of the bike remains practically unchanged.
    Modifications to Powertrain
    Powering the third-gen Hayabusa is a 1340cc in-line four-cylinder four-stroke engine that pumps out 185 bhp and 150 Nm of peak torque. While the engine displacement has remained the same, major changes have been made to its running gear. For instance, the motor gets new pistons, crankshaft, conrods, and camshaft which have brought in massive changes to the performance of the new Hayabusa.

    Further, addition of a new optimised twin swirl combustion chamber has reduced vibrations at a higher rev range to a considerable extent. The revised engine has been paired with a six-speed constant mesh gearbox via a slipper and assist clutch. All these changes to the powertrain have increased the accessibility of all the power available with a wider torque band.
    Updated Dynamics
    Comfort and stability of the new-gen Hayabusa are taken care of by a suspension setup comprising inverted, oil-damped telescopic front forks and a link type, oil-damped mono-shock at rear. Braking is handled by twin Brembo Stylema discs at front and a single Nissin disc at rear. A dual-channel ABS is a given at this price point.
    The third-gen Hayabusa is also loaded with plenty of tech gizmos, especially rider-aided electronics. The entire electronics is governed by Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (S.I.R.S.) that enables the rider to access 3 riding modes via the power mode selector- Active, Basic, and Comfort.     Hayabusa First Lot Sold Out In India – Bookings Closed Even Before Deliveries Start

    After its global unveil, Hayabusa has now been launched in India. The legendary superbike has been a preferred choice for enthusiasts in the country and that is true for the new gen as well. Even before the deliveries can start, the entire first lot of new Hayabusa in India has been sold out.
    Bookings have now been closed across India. A total of 101 units of 2021 Hayabusa were available for India in the first lot. Deliveries of the new Busa will start from mid next month.
    As may be recalled, Hayabusa was discontinued in India and other parts of the world due to new stringent emission norms. At that time, it was believed that Hayabusa will be relegated to history books for good. However, Suzuki has chosen to resurrect the legend, probably based on consumer feedback and market dynamics.

    New Hayabusa looks sharper, as is evident in the updated front fascia and revised fairing. Other visual enhancements include new LED headlight, sculpted fuel tank, chrome plated twin exhaust and two-part LED tail light. The font used for ‘Hayabusa’ logo is also new, which comes across as bolder and sportier.

    New Hayabusa packs in a range of tech upgrades such as ride-by-wire throttle, traction control, six-axis IMU system, three power mode selector, multi-level engine brake control, ABS cornering package, active speed limiter, six ride modes, launch control and hill hold control.
    New Hayabusa powertrain
    Suzuki has chosen to use the same engine as earlier, a 1340 cc, liquid cooled, inline, four-cylinder unit. The engine has been tweaked to comply with new emission norms, as mandated under BS6 / Euro-5. Addition of new components such as new catalytic converter, fuel intake system and updated exhaust system has played a critical role in achieving emission compliance.
    In its BS6 form, the engine dishes out max power of 187 bhp and peak torque of 150 Nm. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and equipped with two-way quick shifter. Next-gen Hayabusa will offer fuel efficiency of 18.06 kmpl, which is less than 21.5 kmpl of BS4 model.
    New Hayabusa price
    In the Indian market, new Hayabusa is priced from Rs 16.4 lakh (ex-showroom). This is significantly higher than the last known starting price of Rs 13.70 lakh for BS4 model. New Hayabusa will primarily rival Kawasaki Ninja H2 in the Indian market.
    Considering its wide fan following, new Hayabusa is expected to register strong sales after its launch. Sales number will be available once deliveries start. The BS4 model was entirely sold out, something that is evidence to its iconic status. Initially, new Hayabusa will be imported as CBU. Later, CKD option is likely to be utilized.     Updated Design
    The third-gen Hayabusa comes with a series of updates both in terms of looks as well as its functionality. For starters, it comes with a completely redesigned bodywork with an improved ram air intake which enhances the motorcycle’s aerodynamic properties. It comes with new body panels, flyscreen, rear cowl and fairing-mounted wing mirrors. The font face looks more aggressive thanks to more concise fairing adopted this time.
    New Hayabusa receives an updated tail section with freshly designed LED taillight. Although the faired sports bike continues to sport bulbous proportions as before, it now comes with chrome-plated twin exhausts that are sleeker and longer.

    Tipping the scales 4 kilos lighter at 264 kg, the motorcycle is offered with a revised fuel tank design that can hold up to 20-liters of fuel. Bolder fonts for ‘Hayabusa’ logo further accentuate the bike’s sporty character.
    Dynamics & Features
    Coming to its dynamics, 2021 Hayabusa retains the same twin-spar type aluminum frame which is assisted by the latest Kayaba suspension setup. Stopping duties are handled by disc brakes with Brembo’s Stylema calipers. The supersport tourer offers a saddle height of 800mm and a ground clearance of 120mm.
    Along with the hardware setup, new Hayabusa comes equipped with a wide array of electronic aids to complement the riding experience. The equipment comprises features such as a 6-axis IMU, hill start assist, multiple riding modes, quick-shifter, traction control, ABS cornering package, wheelie control, launch control to name a few. Other features on offer include a part digital and part analogue instrument console with a TFT display.
    Performance
    Speaking of performance, it is powered by a revised 1340cc inline four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine as before that returns an output of 187 bhp and 150 Nm of peak torque.     Suzuki Motorcycle is set to bring in the 2021 Hayabusa into India. Scheduled for official launch sometime in April, a YouTube video draws our attention to the changes it will receive over its older counterpart. It is slated to get an enhanced electronics package, improved braking system, and better suspension while engine capacity remains same with power down by around 7 hp.
    Euro 5 compliant engine
    New Hayabusa gets its power via 1,340cc, inline 4 cylinder, liquid cooled, DOHC engine that makes 190 hp power at 9,700 rpm and 150 Nm torque at 7,000 rpm. Power figures see a reduction by 7 hp as against 197 hp offered on its earlier counterpart while peak torque is also lower than before.
    However, torque delivery is stronger than that seen on the older engine. The motor is mated to a 6 speed gearbox. As has been revealed in the video, this engine is capable of accelerating the 264 kg heavy weight bike to cross the 200 km/h mark in a few seconds and then on to touch 270 km/h and even further to a top speed 280 km/h, thus claiming to be the “quickest Hayabusa ever”.
    Official figures state that the new Hayabusa can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and from 0 to 200 km/h in 6.8 seconds to hit a top speed of 299 km/h. Take a look at the top speed run in the video below.

    It receives advanced electronics in the form of 10 levels of traction control, 10 levels of anti-wheelie control, 3 levels of engine brake control, anti-lift control and a 6 axis IMU with cornering Anti-Lock Braking System. The Hayabusa also gets 3 power modes, launch control and hill hold control.
    New Design Elements
    The 2021 Hayabusa continues to sport the same shape as its earlier counterpart but receives stronger crease lines and new design elements with revised LED head and tail lamps, LED position lamps, an analogue dashboard and a new TFT display.
    It gets seat height of 800mm and ground clearance at 120mm while braking and suspension are via updated Showa suspension and Brembo Stylema calipers at the front brake. The sports tourer rides on Bridgestone Battlax S22 tyres. It will be offered in 3 new colour schemes of B5L (Glass Sparkle Black/Candy Burnt Gold), BS5M (Mat Sword Silver/Candy Daring Red), B5N (Pearl Brilliant White/Metallic Mat Stellar Blue).

    The 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa made its world debut exactly a week ago and the introductory Web Edition was sold out in just 3 days. Such is the popularity of the iconic nameplate which is synonymous with speed. A short video capturing the new generation flagship superbike’s exhaust note has surfaced online.

    Before we talk about the exhaust note, let’s recap the motorcycle’s engine specifications. The 2021 Busa employs a 1,340 cc in-line four-cylinder liquid-cooled engine which is an evolution of the previous model’s mill.
    Thanks to strict emission regulations across the world, the new superbike puts out 8 hp and 4 Nm less than its predecessor at 187 hp and 150 hp. That is still a lot of performance to tap into and the Akrapovic exhaust system manages to extract the best sound character out of the engine.
    Web Edition Special
    Whats special in the web edition of Hayabusa – Priced from 21,490 Euros (Rs 18.9 lakh), it comes with a pair of Akrapovic approved titanium silencers that allow a weight reduction of 4 kg and an increase in power of 1.9 kW / 2.6 PS (at 8,400 rpm), brake and clutch levers machined from solid with the Hayabusa logo, stripes for gold-coloured logoed rims and tank pads, carbon look mirror covers and single-seater cover.

    The exhaust note is what one would expect from a big displacement four-cylinder motor. It settles into a smooth and hardly audible idling and has a calm demeanour at lower rpms. As the revs build up, the 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa voices up an aggressive growl which is sure to command attention. While first ride impressions are yet to come, we think the new Busa will maintain its effortless and smooth character.
    What’s new?
    The new Suzuki Hayabusa is based on an improved version of the previous iteration’s twin-spar aluminium frame which is optimized to have an ideal 50:50 front to rear weight distribution. Suspension system is composed of fully adjustable KYB inverted telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. The front wheel is retarded by a pair of larger 320 mm discs fitted with Brembo Stylema calipers while rear wheel is retarded by a single disc with Nissin calipers.
    The styling is evolutionary but the massive front fascia with LED headlights and a redesigned rear cowl with two-part LED taillights are optimized for better aerodynamic efficiency. The new Hayabusa sticks to traditional analog speedo and tachometers but the space between them is filled by a colour TFT screen which incorporates multiple functions.

    As far as electronic systems go, the 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa benefits from a 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit which facilitates cornering ABS, traction control, anti-life control, launch control, hill hold control and so on. The motorcycle is also equipped with a ride-by-wire throttle which enables 6 riding modes (include 3 user defined modes) and cruise control with active speed limiter. Other noteworthy additions include engine brake control and bi-directional quickshifter.
    Launch in India

    The new Suzuki Hayabusa has been the talk of the automotive world around the globe, especially for speed seeking motorcyclists. The bulbous looking superbike made its maiden global appearance a few days ago where the Japanese company revealed all its details.
    Updated Styling
    For starters, the 2021 Hayabusa sports a slightly revised styling with sharper edges while still maintaining the same design lines of the previous-gen model. The front fascia now looks more aggressive thanks to the concise fairing adopted on its front end.
    It also features an updated tail section while it receives a twin exhaust setup embellished in chrome which is much sleeker and longer than before. As mentioned earlier, it retains its bulbous proportions from the outgoing model. The new-gen model packs an additional list of features in its equipment for a more comprehensive riding experience.

    Suzuki had announced the Web Edition of Hayabusa exclusively in Italy. These are limited editions of new 2021 Hayabusa, which are to open for bookings till 15th March. Limited to only 10 units, Suzuki now reveals that all 10 units are already sold out – in just 3 days of being open for booking.

    Speaking of its performance, it derives its power from the same 1340cc inline four-cylinder liquid-cooled motor which is now Euro-5/BS6 compliant. This motor is down on its output and now returns 187 bhp and 150 Nm of peak torque instead of 195 bhp and 154 Nm. It will be paired to a six-speed gearbox which now benefits from a two-way quick-shifter as standard. Fuel-efficiency has also dropped from 21.5 kmpl to 18.06 kmpl.
    The updated motorcycle is based on a slightly tweaked twin-spar aluminum frame and subframe that has resulted in a loss of weight and boasts of a 50:50 weight distribution. The frame is suspended on a Kayaba suspension setup while braking is taken care of by twin disc brakes clamped by Brembo caliper at front and a single-disc held by a Nissin caliper at rear.
    Features on offer
    As mentioned previously, the biggest update will be seen on its equipment with a bunch of new features added. This includes a TFT LCD screen placed between the analogue tachometer and speedometer along with a host of new electronic aids such as a six-axis IMU system, traction control, ABS cornering package, ride-by-wire throttle, multiple ride modes and much more.
    India launch is expected this year. The new Hayabusa, just like its predecessor, is likely to be available as a CKD product although prices are expected to be increased substantially. The upcoming iteration of the superbike is expected to loosen one’s wallet by around Rs 17-18 lakh (ex-showroom) which would make it the most expensive two-wheeler to be assembled in India. More

    2021 Suzuki Hayabusa has not been the best kept secret. From the time its first teaser was revealed a few days ago, there have been constant number of leaks on the internet. From the full hi-res promotional TVC video leak, to now the motorcycle making its appearance on Suzuki Motorcycle Australia’s official website – and all this ahead of its global debut later today.
    Suzuki Motorcycle Australia has now removed the photo from their official website, but not before it was shared on the internet. Hat tip to Siddharth for sharing the update with us before it was removed.
    The latest iteration of the super sports tourer will come with a host of updates over the outgoing model which has been discontinued in international markets since 2019. This includes cosmetics, features as well as mechanical updates.
    Design & Features on offer

    Engine Specs
    Coming to its performance, the new Hayabusa will draw its energy from a larger 1440cc inline four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine instead of the older 1340cc unit. This unit is expected to push out power as high as 200 bhp and is expected to be paired with either a six-speed manual or DCT gearbox. More significantly, this unit now complies with the stricter Euro-5 emission norms which has been achieved with the addition of a new intake, a catalytic converter and an exhaust system to Hayabusa.
    Prospective India Arrival
    As far as its arrival in India is concerned, there has been no confirmation from Suzuki about the same. However, with the rise in larger and more powerful motorcycle offerings in India in recent past, Suzuki might actually launch it in India at some stage. At one point, Hayabusa was the most expensive locally assembled bike in India. Whether it will be offered as a CBU or a CKD product can only be told in time to come. More
