    2021 Suzuki Hayabusa Production-Spec Model Leaks Ahead Of Debut

    Suzuki Hayabusa commands a different name and respect altogether in the superbike segment globally. The speed monster from Suzuki is slated to get a major update soon, proof of which was seen recently in a teaser video shared by the Japanese auto giant.
    Shortly days after it was globally teased, images of the production-spec model of new Hayabusa seems to be doing rounds on the internet, thanks to a leaked brochure. Images of the latest iteration of the faired superbike were first seen on Instagram handle @hayabusa_taiwan.
    Styling & Expected Features
    From the leaked images, it appears that the new Hayabusa model still maintains design lines of its previous-gen model. Revisions have been made to add a more aggressive front fascia by adopting more concise fairing.
    The exhaust design has also been changed which is longer and chrome-plated now. According to reports from several foreign media houses, the new-gen Hayabusa will come equipped with LED headlights, a new tank, and a more aerodynamic front fascia.

    Coming to dynamics, it will be built on the same twin-spar type aluminum frame assisted by the latest Kayaba suspension system. From the images seen on the teaser recently, the bike was seen clocking a speed of around 180mph (290kph) on an analogue speedometer flanked by a TFT screen which is expected to read out plenty of ride data.
    Apart from this, the new 2021 Hayabusa will be packed with plenty of electronic aids such as IMU-based features such as Hill Start Assist, ABS cornering package, traction control, multiple riding modes and more.
    Expected Engine Specs
    Rumours are rife that the updated Hayabusa will draw its power from a larger 1440cc inline four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine instead of the older 1340cc unit. There is still ambiguity regarding its exact specifications but it is expected to dish out a massive 200 bhp.
    More importantly, this unit will comply with the latest Euro-5 emission norms. This has been achieved with the addition of a new intake and exhaust system to Hayabusa. Patent filings revealed earlier showed significant improvements made to its exhaust setup including catalytic converters in order to tackle stricter emission norms.
    International Debut & Prospective India Launch
    More details about the new-gen Suzuki Hayabusa will be revealed on its official debut which is slated for February 5, 2021. From the looks of it, it seems Suzuki is very keen on reclaiming the most coveted title of being the fastest production motorcycle in the world which it held for decades. Upon its launch, it will directly lock horns with its immediate Japanese rival- the supercharged Kawasaki Ninja H2.
    Its India launch is still very uncertain. At one point, it was the most expensive locally assembled bike in the country. If at all Suzuki decides to bring it to India, it most likely will arrive imported via the CKD or CBU route. More

    There has been a lot of talks about reincarnation of the Suzuki Hayabusa over the last few years. Finally, the company has announced that the new generation flagship will make its virtual world premiere on February 5. Suzuki has released a teaser video of the two-wheeled locomotive as a build up to the launch.

    The teaser video gives us a short glimpse of the 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa zooming past the camera in a dimly lit banked test track. Usually, a steeply banked test track is used to test a vehicle’s high-speed stability. It seems like Suzuki wants to reclaim the coveted record of world’s fastest road-legal production motorcycle with its upcoming crown jewel.
    Official details about the motorcycle are scarce and the teaser video only gives up the lighting signature of the 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa. Core character of the original models’ design is expected to be retained and that means an imposing front fairing, smooth surfaces, and a long wheelbase. It is reasonable to assume that the superbike will feature full LED illumination.
    Specifications
    As per previous international reports, the 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa is not going to be a grounds up new product but rather a heavily overhauled version of its predecessor which is no longer on sale.     The engine architecture is also reported to be retained but the four-cylinder, in-line, liquid-cooled motor’s displacement is likely to be increased to around 1,440 cc. The increase in displacement would allow the company to comply with the latest emission norms without having to compromise on outright power output. Speaking of power, the 2021 Hayabusa is estimated to dish out upwards of 200 hp. Recent patent leaks indicate massive improvements to exhaust system.
    In terms of performance, latest generation of the iconic grand tourer would be aiming to surpass the Kawasaki Ninja H2. The teaser video showed the motorcycle’s traditional analog speedometer indicating a speed of 189 mph (288 kmph). The Hayabusa is known for smooth and effortless performance with a propensity for violence when called for, and we have no reason to suspect the new motorcycle will be any different.
    The 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa will pack state-of-the-art electronic systems including IMU supported cornering ABS and traction control. The top variant could also offer active suspension as an option.

    Will it come to India?
    The previous generation Suzuki Hayabusa was one of the most expensive motorcycles to be locally assembled in India.     Rumors of next generation Suzuki Hayabusa started doing rounds even before the second gen model rode into sunset in 2018 as global emission standards tightened. Suzuki wasn’t in a hurry to replace its iconic flagship and the only hint that a successor could be in the works came in the form of the concept GSX design study.

    Earlier this year, a leaked patent brought the Busa back to focus, and now, we have a speculative rendering of the final product which is just a few months away from its world premiere. As we can see, the 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa is likely to borrow its styling cues from the 5-year-old Concept GSX.
    The third gen Hayabusa would be sporting LED headlamp, aerodynamically optimized front fascia new tank and tailpiece. However, the unmistakable large-displacement GT shape will not be fiddled with.

    What’s new?
    The 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa is not going to be a clean sheet design. Instead, the new motorcycle will emerge as a heavily improved version of the now defunct second gen model. The twin-spar aluminium frame is reported to be carried forward but with significant changes including latest Kayaba suspension system.
    According to Japanese media, the new Busa’s engine will carry forward quite a few components from the previous iteration but will have a larger displacement of around 1,440 cc. The larger displacement has now become a common technique for OEMs to comply with the Euro5 emission standards without having to forgo on power output. The new in-line four-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor is estimated to dish out around 200 hp just like the older unit but expect the torque and rideability to be improved.
    The patent filings showed that the exhaust system, catalytic converters in particular, will undergo significant upgrade to tackle the stringent emission norms.

    Being a flagship motorcycle, the 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa will loaded with modern electronic gizmos that are aimed at keeping all those horses from making a mockery of the rider. Thanks to the IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit), the new grand tourer will offer cornering ABS, traction control and several other features. Hill start assist, a color TFT dashboard, multiple riding modes are some of the other key highlights reported.
    Launch
    The 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa is expected to be unveiled towards the end of this year before going on sale in international markets sometime in first half of 2021. If Suzuki India decides to bring the new one to our shores via CKD route like it did for the previous model, we would be having an attractively priced superbike.
