New Suzuki Electric Scooter Officially Teased Ahead Of Launch Tomorrow

New Suzuki Electric ScooterSuzuki has previously announced that it is working on an electric scooter for India and this could very well be it
The welcoming response received from the Indian audience for sporty automatic scooters like Honda Dio, Yamaha RayZR, Aprilia SR series and TVS NTORQ has apparently made Suzuki pause and take notice. While the Japanese brand does cover the premium automatic scooter segment with its stylish Burgman, there still is a void in its portfolio when it comes to a sleek and sporty offering.
New Suzuki Electric Scooter – Design
A video has emerged online containing a few key details of what looks like an upcoming Suzuki automatic scooter. The low quality images point towards a sporty offering which looks set to be pitted against the aforementioned competitors.
Just like its intended rivals, the new Suzuki scooter features an edgy front apron with integrated headlamp (possibly appointed with LED elements). A small visor and clear lens turn indicators are located on the handlebar cowl.
The tail is characterized by a unique split brake-light setup. The video goes on to reveal the scooter’s fully digital dashboard which is reported to have Bluetooth connectivity. Other noticeable elements are split grab rails, simple-looking rear-view mirrors, engine kill switch and bright colour options. The video claims that the new product is aimed at Gen-Z and ends with the caption, “Zipping is the new cruising”.
The rear wheel setup matches that of the Burgman electric scooter test mule
    Technical details
The powertrain details are not clear as of now but we hope to have a better idea in a matter of few hours – as Suzuki Electric scooter launch is scheduled for tomorrow; 18th Nov, 2021. The lightening logo built into the wordings “More…Per…” at the end of the video suggests that the scooter could be housing a completely or partially electrified propulsion system.
The lightening logo in the letter ‘O’ of the word ‘MORE’ – hints at the scooter being electric.
It is to be noted that prototypes of electric version of Burgman were spied testing in the country on more than one occasion. Those could have been the development mules for this new Suzuki scooter.
That said, if the two wheeler were to be equipped with a conventional IC engine, then the Burgman’s 125 cc air-cooled, fuel-injected unit mated to a CVT is the most likely candidate. The motor produces 8.7 hp and 10 Nm of torque. Take a look at the teaser video below.

    Will it work?
After struggling to make inroads during the initial years as an independent brand, Suzuki has now found its rhythm in the highly competitive Indian two wheeler market. While the Gixxer series has managed to carve a niche for itself in the mid-premium compact displacement motorcycle space, the brand’s Access and Burgman Street achieved the same feat in the scooter segment.
The new model is a part of Suzuki’s efforts to consolidate its progress in the market. We expect the new Suzuki scooter to be packed with best-in-segment features, and carry a very tempting price tag. Stay tuned as we bring you more updates. More

Suzuki Burgman Electric Debut Likely On 18th Nov – Chetak, iQube Rival

Suzuki Burgman Electric ScooterSuzuki Burgman electric scooter has been spied testing multiple times on public road – Launch is expected soon
Suzuki Motorcycle India Ltd has been having tremendous success with products that are specifically designed and developed for our market. The Suzuki Gixxer series kick started the upward progress for the Japanese two wheeler marker in India. Subsequent India-spec Suzukis, the Access, Burgman and Intruder, too quickly emerged as popular choices in their respective segments.
With demand for electric vehicles on the rise, Suzuki also has plans to enter this segment. Of the top two wheeler brands in India, Bajaj and TVS have already entered this segment with Chetak and iQube respectively. Hero MotoCorp has announced their plans to launch electric scooter in 2022. Honda and Yamaha also have plans to enter this segment.
    Suzuki Burgman Electric Launch
Of the remaining big two wheeler brands, Suzuki is likely to be the next one to enter the electric two wheeler segment. Their Burgman electric scooter has been regularly spied testing in the NCR region. Earlier today, Suzuki two wheeler has shared a block your date email for 18th Nov. It is likely to be the global debut date of the Burgman electric scooter.
The electric version of the Burgman Street 125, sports the same design as seen on its petrol counterpart. It will be seen in a striking white and blue colour scheme to set it apart from its fossil fuel counterpart. It will ride on 12 inch front and 10 inch rear wheels. It will receive telescopic front fork and twin shock absorber at the rear along with disc brake in the front and drum brake at the rear with CBS.
    Suzuki Burgman Electric Teaser?
Suzuki Burgman Electric scooter will continue to sport other features from its petrol powered counterpart that include a muscular body, LED head and tail lamps with LED turn indicators, tall windscreen, large and comfortable seating. It will also receive a fully digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity.
Suzuki Burgman Electric Made In India
Suzuki will continue with the strategy of designing its products specially for India with global technology platforms as base. The Suzuki electric scooter which is set to enter our market, will adopt an India-spec design package while the electric powertrain and battery will be shared with global models. The upcoming automatic two wheeler is the first proper electric scooter by the firm. Suzuki has been selling e-Lets in Japanese market for sometime now but with a range of just 30 km, it’s not exactly a global urban electric vehicle.
Suzuki would be focusing on developing a Lithium-ion battery pack for the automatic scooter in question. The performance levels of this electric scooter would be somewhere between the 110 cc and 125 cc segment standards. It will rival the likes of Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube, Ather 450x, Ola S1, and many others from Hero Electric, Ampere, Okinawa, etc.
    Suzuki Burgman Electric Scooter
Just like the India-spec Burgman and Intruder, the new Suzuki electric scooter for India is designed by the company’s local styling team. Suzuki feels that a typical prospective customer is willing to pay up to 20% more for an electric scooter over an IC-engined model with similar performance. That would be the price target for the new green scooter. In terms of numbers, the target price tag would be approx Rs 1 lakh. More

Satoshi Uchida, Managing Director, Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd. said, “We continue to experience a very strong demand both from the Domestic and Overseas Markets. However, Supply Chain constraints being experienced in the Country and across the Globe have impacted our efforts to cater to the heightened demand. We are hopeful that the situation will improve and we shall be able to fully cater to the demand.”

    Indian auto industry recovery
Demand from the domestic market is being supported by a strong growth in retail sales which have shown some movement in recent months. As the Indian auto space continues to show signs of recovery, overall sales is expected to be impacted positively. Decrease last year was primarily due to the increasing spread of Covid-19 pandemic. The total standstill that befell the industry resulted in weakening demand for vehicles.
Suzuki can draw much from its growing base of valued clients for their continued confidence. With industry wide recovery being a slow process, the coming months will be under close scrutiny. While there’s no new product launch around the corner, this isn’t necessarily a niggle. A fair amount of new sales is generated through the distribution of new products and packages of existing products. And with festivities being the flavour of the season, one can expect a bouquet of festive packages.
    Strong demand in market
Following slow recovery from Covid-19, the auto industry finds itself gripped with another formidable wall that it can’t power through. Supply chain disruptions when it comes to acquiring critical parts/chips. And there’s rather little anyone can do about this other than continue to improve procurement channels as production starts to bridge the supply gap. But this will take a while longer.
This, in turn, has adversely affected the overall performance of our products.Auto manufacturers continue to participate in the new products development activities but being able to supply new vehicles in timely manner is an altogether diff matter. Auto manufacturers continue to take every opportunity to look for alternatives for the current supply chain crisis. More

Most recent announcement comes from Suzuki Motorcycle India, which has increased prices of its Gixxer range. One of the popular brands in Suzuki’s portfolio, Gixxer range comprises naked and faired versions of 155cc and 250cc Gixxer.
    Suzuki Gixxer new price list
Price of entry-level Gixxer 155 and Gixxer SF 155 has been increased by Rs 2,000. In comparison, Gixxer 250 and Gixxer SF 250 have become costlier by Rs 3,500. Intruder had become costlier by Rs 2,073. In this latest round of price hike, only Gixxer range has been covered. It is not certain if Suzuki will announce price hike for its other two-wheelers in the near future.
    Suzuki Gixxer SF 250
Gixxer 155 and Gixxer 250 engine
Latest price hike for Gixxer motorcycles is purely due to rise in input costs. No new updates or features have been introduced by the company. Gixxer 155 and Gixxer SF 155 get their power from a 155cc SOHC, air cooled motor. It is capable of generating 13.6 ps of max power at 8000 rpm and 13.8 Nm of peak torque at 6000 rpm. It is mated to a 5-speed transmission.
Gixxer 250 twins are powered by a 249cc SOHC, oil cooled motor that makes 26.5 ps at 9300 rpm and 22.2 Nm at 7300 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Just a few months back, Suzuki had announced a recall for Gixxer 250 twins. It was based on customer feedback, many of whom had reported experiencing excessive vibrations. Upon investigation, it was found that the vibrations were due to incorrect placement of balancer shaft in the engine.
A total of 199 units were covered in this recall program. These were manufactured between the period from  August 12, 2019 to March 21, 2021. Users had reported that fixing the issue required just a couple of hours of repair work at the service centre. More
