      The 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa made its world debut exactly a week ago and the introductory Web Edition was sold out in just 3 days. Such is the popularity of the iconic nameplate which is synonymous with speed. A short video capturing the new generation flagship superbike’s exhaust note has surfaced online.

      Before we talk about the exhaust note, let’s recap the motorcycle’s engine specifications. The 2021 Busa employs a 1,340 cc in-line four-cylinder liquid-cooled engine which is an evolution of the previous model’s mill.
      Thanks to strict emission regulations across the world, the new superbike puts out 8 hp and 4 Nm less than its predecessor at 187 hp and 150 hp. That is still a lot of performance to tap into and the Akrapovic exhaust system manages to extract the best sound character out of the engine.
      Web Edition Special
      Whats special in the web edition of Hayabusa – Priced from 21,490 Euros (Rs 18.9 lakh), it comes with a pair of Akrapovic approved titanium silencers that allow a weight reduction of 4 kg and an increase in power of 1.9 kW / 2.6 PS (at 8,400 rpm), brake and clutch levers machined from solid with the Hayabusa logo, stripes for gold-coloured logoed rims and tank pads, carbon look mirror covers and single-seater cover.

      The exhaust note is what one would expect from a big displacement four-cylinder motor. It settles into a smooth and hardly audible idling and has a calm demeanour at lower rpms. As the revs build up, the 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa voices up an aggressive growl which is sure to command attention. While first ride impressions are yet to come, we think the new Busa will maintain its effortless and smooth character.
      What’s new?
      The new Suzuki Hayabusa is based on an improved version of the previous iteration’s twin-spar aluminium frame which is optimized to have an ideal 50:50 front to rear weight distribution. Suspension system is composed of fully adjustable KYB inverted telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. The front wheel is retarded by a pair of larger 320 mm discs fitted with Brembo Stylema calipers while rear wheel is retarded by a single disc with Nissin calipers.
      The styling is evolutionary but the massive front fascia with LED headlights and a redesigned rear cowl with two-part LED taillights are optimized for better aerodynamic efficiency. The new Hayabusa sticks to traditional analog speedo and tachometers but the space between them is filled by a colour TFT screen which incorporates multiple functions.

      As far as electronic systems go, the 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa benefits from a 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit which facilitates cornering ABS, traction control, anti-life control, launch control, hill hold control and so on. The motorcycle is also equipped with a ride-by-wire throttle which enables 6 riding modes (include 3 user defined modes) and cruise control with active speed limiter. Other noteworthy additions include engine brake control and bi-directional quickshifter.
      Launch in India

      The new Suzuki Hayabusa has been the talk of the automotive world around the globe, especially for speed seeking motorcyclists. The bulbous looking superbike made its maiden global appearance a few days ago where the Japanese company revealed all its details.
      Updated Styling
      For starters, the 2021 Hayabusa sports a slightly revised styling with sharper edges while still maintaining the same design lines of the previous-gen model. The front fascia now looks more aggressive thanks to the concise fairing adopted on its front end.
      It also features an updated tail section while it receives a twin exhaust setup embellished in chrome which is much sleeker and longer than before. As mentioned earlier, it retains its bulbous proportions from the outgoing model. The new-gen model packs an additional list of features in its equipment for a more comprehensive riding experience.
      Web Edition
      Suzuki had announced the Web Edition of Hayabusa exclusively in Italy. These are limited editions of new 2021 Hayabusa, which are to open for bookings till 15th March. Limited to only 10 units, Suzuki now reveals that all 10 units are already sold out – in just 3 days of being open for booking.

      Mechanical Specificatons
      Speaking of its performance, it derives its power from the same 1340cc inline four-cylinder liquid-cooled motor which is now Euro-5/BS6 compliant. This motor is down on its output and now returns 187 bhp and 150 Nm of peak torque instead of 195 bhp and 154 Nm. It will be paired to a six-speed gearbox which now benefits from a two-way quick-shifter as standard. Fuel-efficiency has also dropped from 21.5 kmpl to 18.06 kmpl.
      The updated motorcycle is based on a slightly tweaked twin-spar aluminum frame and subframe that has resulted in a loss of weight and boasts of a 50:50 weight distribution. The frame is suspended on a Kayaba suspension setup while braking is taken care of by twin disc brakes clamped by Brembo caliper at front and a single-disc held by a Nissin caliper at rear.
      Features on offer
      As mentioned previously, the biggest update will be seen on its equipment with a bunch of new features added. This includes a TFT LCD screen placed between the analogue tachometer and speedometer along with a host of new electronic aids such as a six-axis IMU system, traction control, ABS cornering package, ride-by-wire throttle, multiple ride modes and much more.
      India launch is expected this year. The new Hayabusa, just like its predecessor, is likely to be available as a CKD product although prices are expected to be increased substantially. The upcoming iteration of the superbike is expected to loosen one’s wallet by around Rs 17-18 lakh (ex-showroom) which would make it the most expensive two-wheeler to be assembled in India. More

      2021 Suzuki Hayabusa has not been the best kept secret. From the time its first teaser was revealed a few days ago, there have been constant number of leaks on the internet. From the full hi-res promotional TVC video leak, to now the motorcycle making its appearance on Suzuki Motorcycle Australia’s official website – and all this ahead of its global debut later today.
      Suzuki Motorcycle Australia has now removed the photo from their official website, but not before it was shared on the internet. Hat tip to Siddharth for sharing the update with us before it was removed.
      The latest iteration of the super sports tourer will come with a host of updates over the outgoing model which has been discontinued in international markets since 2019. This includes cosmetics, features as well as mechanical updates.
      Design & Features on offer
      For starters, the 2021 Hayabusa flaunts a new styling with sharper edges although it still maintains design lines of its previous-gen model. Changes have been incorporated to its front fascia which looks more aggressive, thanks to the concise fairing adopted.

      It is offered with a newly designed LED headlight, a new fuel tank, and a more aerodynamic front fascia. Speaking of its hardware, it is built on the same twin-spar type aluminum frame assisted by the latest Kayaba suspension setup. The promotional video showed that the new Hayabusa could clock a speed as much as 180 mph (290 kmph) as indicated on its analogue speedometer along with a TFT screen on its instrument panel.
      The 2021 Hayabusa will come equipped with an array of electronic aids to complement the riding experience. This includes IMU-based features such as Hill Start Assist, ABS cornering package, traction control, quick shifter multiple riding modes, wheelie control and more.

      Engine Specs
      Coming to its performance, the new Hayabusa will draw its energy from a larger 1440cc inline four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine instead of the older 1340cc unit. This unit is expected to push out power as high as 200 bhp and is expected to be paired with either a six-speed manual or DCT gearbox. More significantly, this unit now complies with the stricter Euro-5 emission norms which has been achieved with the addition of a new intake, a catalytic converter and an exhaust system to Hayabusa.
      Prospective India Arrival
      As far as its arrival in India is concerned, there has been no confirmation from Suzuki about the same. However, with the rise in larger and more powerful motorcycle offerings in India in recent past, Suzuki might actually launch it in India at some stage.       There has been a lot of talk about the all new Suzuki Hayabusa which is scheduled to be unveiled on February 5. The expectations are high from the third generation model which is touted to restore the iconic nameplate to its former glory. A promotional video of the flagship motorcycle has been leaked ahead of the world premiere, giving us a clear idea on what to expect.
      2021 Suzuki Hayabusa – Design
      It has been said that the 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa will be an evolution of the previous generation model rather than a grounds up product, and this reflects in the styling as well. The iconic heavy duty GT retains the instantly recognizable design traits such as a bulbous body work with smooth flowing surfaces.

      The front fascia receives the modernized three-part lighting signature with trademark air vents. The redesigned side panels feature massive air vents and an edgier appeal. The pillion seat cowl appears to be larger than before and house twin boomerang-shaped LED taillights. The overall bodywork is more aerodynamic than before.
      Features
      Not much is know about the detailed equipment list of the 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa but from the video we can tell that it is equipped with LED headlights and an instrument console with analog dials and a TFT multi-info display. The superbike also receives Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS) with multiple engine mapping.

      Suzuki Sales Jan 2021 Post Growth – Access, Intruder, Gixxer Prices Increased

      Suzuki, like many other automakers, has increased prices of its products in India due to rise in production costs

      Suzuki Two wheelers reported wholesales at 57,004 units in January. Growth is reported at 1.77 percent, up from 56,013 units at volume gain of 991 units. MoM gain stood at 27.32 percent, up from 44,773 units at volume gain of 12,231 units. Exports were at 7,865 units in Jan 2021, as against 9,839 units in Jan 2020 – declining by 20%.
      Having started the year on a strong note at sales upward of 50k units, the company cements its position among the big 7 at 6th spot, beating Yamaha India to it. Suzuki’s two wheeler market here is important to the manufacturer from a global perspective as sales in India is among the highest in any international market.

      Suzuki Motorcycle India has announced a price hike on all its motorcycles as well as on their best selling two wheeler – Access scooter. Price of Access scooter has been increased by Rs 186 for all variants, and now costs in the range of Rs 70,686 to Rs 78,786, ex-sh.

      Starting with its entry-level sporty commuter motorcycle, Suzuki has increased prices of Gixxer and Gixxer SF by over Rs 2,000. The naked roadster is now offered at a price of Rs 1,16,700 while its fully-faired sibling is priced at Rs 1,27,200. Prior to the latest price hike, Gixxer and the Gixxer SF were offered at prices of Rs 1,14,687 and Rs 1,25,156 respectively.

      Moving up the lineup, Suzuki has also scaled up the prices of its quarter-litre Gixxer offerings as well. After the latest price revision, Gixxer 250 and Gixxer SF 550 are offered at respective prices of Rs 1,67,700 and Rs 1,78,400. In comparison, the motorcycles were pegged at Rs 1,65,627 and Rs 1,76,326 prior to the hike in prices. The MotoGP Edition of Gixxer SF 250 is now available at Rs 1,79,200 instead of Rs 1,77,127.
      Price Increase of Intruder
      Lastly, the Japanese automaker has also increased prices of its cruiser bike Intruder. The cruiser is now retailed at Rs 1,24,400 and as opposed to Rs 1,22,327 prior to this development. While, in terms of its specifications, it rivals the Bajaj Avenger 150 Street, however, its price puts it against Avenger 220 Cruise. Price hike of all Suzuki bikes has been in the range of Rs 2,013 to Rs 2,074.
      There have been no cosmetic or mechanical changes made to these models what-so-ever. The rise in prices could be attributed to an increase in input costs which has resulted in an increase in production costs. Many other manufacturers too have had to increase the prices of their models in the past month. All prices mentioned are ex-showroom.
      Specifications
      Suzuki Gixxer, Gixxer SF and Intruder are powered by a BS6 compliant 155cc single-cylinder, fuel-injected, air-cooled engine. Paired with a five-speed gearbox, this unit churns out an output of 13.4 bhp and 13.8 Nm of peak torque. On the other hand, the quarter-litre Gixxer offerings are powered by a 249cc single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine which pushes out 26 bhp and 22.2 Nm of peak torque.       Suzuki Hayabusa commands a different name and respect altogether in the superbike segment globally. The speed monster from Suzuki is slated to get a major update soon, proof of which was seen recently in a teaser video shared by the Japanese auto giant.
      Shortly days after it was globally teased, images of the production-spec model of new Hayabusa seems to be doing rounds on the internet, thanks to a leaked brochure. Images of the latest iteration of the faired superbike were first seen on Instagram handle @hayabusa_taiwan.
      Styling & Expected Features
      From the leaked images, it appears that the new Hayabusa model still maintains design lines of its previous-gen model. Revisions have been made to add a more aggressive front fascia by adopting more concise fairing.
      The exhaust design has also been changed which is longer and chrome-plated now. According to reports from several foreign media houses, the new-gen Hayabusa will come equipped with LED headlights, a new tank, and a more aerodynamic front fascia.

      Coming to dynamics, it will be built on the same twin-spar type aluminum frame assisted by the latest Kayaba suspension system. From the images seen on the teaser recently, the bike was seen clocking a speed of around 180mph (290kph) on an analogue speedometer flanked by a TFT screen which is expected to read out plenty of ride data.

      More importantly, this unit will comply with the latest Euro-5 emission norms. This has been achieved with the addition of a new intake and exhaust system to Hayabusa. Patent filings revealed earlier showed significant improvements made to its exhaust setup including catalytic converters in order to tackle stricter emission norms.
      International Debut & Prospective India Launch
      More details about the new-gen Suzuki Hayabusa will be revealed on its official debut which is slated for February 5, 2021. From the looks of it, it seems Suzuki is very keen on reclaiming the most coveted title of being the fastest production motorcycle in the world which it held for decades. Upon its launch, it will directly lock horns with its immediate Japanese rival- the supercharged Kawasaki Ninja H2.

      Suzuki Sales, Exports Break Up Dec 2020 – Access, Burgman, Gixxer, Intruder

      December 2020 turned out to be a mixed bag for Suzuki Motorcycle India, as YoY growth is positive whereas MoM growth is negative

      A total of 44,756 units were sold in the domestic market in December 2020, which is YoY growth of 0.99%. Sales during the corresponding period in 2019 stood at 44,318 units. MoM sales are down -22.05%, as compared to 57,417 units sold in November 2020.
      In exports, Suzuki has negative YoY growth and positive MoM growth. A total of 6,946 units were exported in December 2020, which is YoY de-growth of -12.99%. Exports during December 2019 stood at 7,983 units. MoM numbers are up 2.22%, as compared to 6,795 units exported in November 2020.
      Access leads in domestic market
      Access has consistently ranked among the top ten bestselling two-wheelers in the country. It is the company’s primary volume generator in the domestic market. A total of 40,154 units were sold in December 2020. YoY sales are up by 7.09%, as compared to 37,495 units sold in December 2019.
      In numbers, Access contributed close to 90% of the company’s domestic sales in December 2020. However, MoM sales are down by -11.91%, as compared to 45,582 units sold in November 2020.

      At number two is Burgman with 2,666 units sold in December 2020. The scooter has lost almost half its sales, as compared to 5,188 units sold in December 2019. MoM sales are also down by -70.63%, as compared to 9,078 units sold in November 2020. Burgman’s percentage share in the pie was 5.96% in December 2020.
      Gixxer takes the third spot with 1,651 units sold in December 2020. YoY sales have improved by 17.68%, as compared to 1,403 units sold in December 2019. Percentage share stands at 3.69%. MoM sales have declined by -23.03%, as compared to 2,145 units sold in November 2020.
      At number four is Gixxer 250 with 224 units sold in December 2020. Both YoY and MoM growth are negative at -3.45% and -47.54%, respectively. Next is Intruder with 61 units sold in December 2020. MoM growth is down by -67.03%, as compared to 185 units sold in November 2020.

      In overseas markets, Gixxer takes the lead with 3,326 units exported in December 2020. YoY numbers are down by -32.86%, as compared to 4,954 units exported in the corresponding period in 2019. MoM numbers are also down at -27.25%, as compared to 4,572 units exported in November 2020.
      At number two and three in the list are Burgman and Gixxer 250, both of which have positive YoY growth in December 2020. Respective export numbers are 1,890 and 1,046 units, which is YoY growth of 61.26% and 1075.28%. Both also have positive MoM growth at 269.14% and 125.92%, respectively.
      Other bikes in the list include Hayate (480 units), Lets (96) Intruder (96) and Access (12). Excluding Access, all have negative YoY growth. In MoM terms, Intruder has positive growth, whereas Hayate and Lets have negative growth. More

      There has been a lot of talks about reincarnation of the Suzuki Hayabusa over the last few years. Finally, the company has announced that the new generation flagship will make its virtual world premiere on February 5. Suzuki has released a teaser video of the two-wheeled locomotive as a build up to the launch.

      The teaser video gives us a short glimpse of the 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa zooming past the camera in a dimly lit banked test track. Usually, a steeply banked test track is used to test a vehicle’s high-speed stability. It seems like Suzuki wants to reclaim the coveted record of world’s fastest road-legal production motorcycle with its upcoming crown jewel.
      Official details about the motorcycle are scarce and the teaser video only gives up the lighting signature of the 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa. Core character of the original models’ design is expected to be retained and that means an imposing front fairing, smooth surfaces, and a long wheelbase. It is reasonable to assume that the superbike will feature full LED illumination.
      Specifications
      As per previous international reports, the 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa is not going to be a grounds up new product but rather a heavily overhauled version of its predecessor which is no longer on sale.
