      New KTM 390 Enduro Spied Testing Ahead Of Launch

      New KTM 390 EnduroThe new KTM 390 Enduro is set to debut at 2024 EICMA show alongside other motorcycles based on company’s 390, 990 and 1390 platforms
      It is raining ADVs in India, especially in the mainstream segment. We are awaiting Kawasaki KLX 230 S, Hero Xpulse 210, Xpulse 440, Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Raid among others. From the house of KTM, there are two incoming ADVs, based on its top-tier 390 platform. The new spy shots show upcoming KTM 390 Enduro in production spec avatar. Let’s take a look.
      New KTM 390 Enduro Spied Testing
      The term ADV encompasses a broader range of motorcycles within it. From within KTM’s lineup, we only had the Adventure model, based on 390 and 250 platforms, which is more of an upright long-distance tourer, rather than a true-blue off-roader.
      So, KTM identified this and has formulated a more off-road-worthy vehicle based on the 390 platform. That is where the 390 Enduro comes into action, featuring fewer body panels without a fairing to break when it falls while off-roading, which is a common occurrence, even for seasoned off-road enthusiasts.
      We can see a small headlight, followed by a large beak, which protects the components above while landing from a jump. Even though we said fewer body panels, 390 Enduro has muscular and angular tank shrouds for a macho appeal. Fuel tank shape is quite unique with a bulging top and bike’s keyhole is on the fuel tank as well.

      There are frame sliders installed, which look like standard fitment. They protect the motorcycle when it falls. These spy shots are credited to automotive enthusiast Narinder Tandon. Notable elements seen on these spy shots are many. 390 Enduro features the same main frame as new 390 Duke, while the rear subframe is new and accommodates a relatively flat seat.
      What to expect?
      There is an extended tail section that houses bike’s rear registration plates and LED winkers. Components include 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wire-spoke wheels wrapped with dual-sport tyres, USD telescopic front forks from WP that we hope are adjustable for compression and rebound, a rear mono-shock setup, single disc setup at both ends with dual-channel ABS, among others.
      Where features are concerned, 390 Enduro will get switchable ABS on rear wheel, a 5-inch TFT digital instrument cluster with music control and Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation, and a host of controls on left switchgear to control it, all LED lighting, a USB charging port and adjustable brake and clutch levers, among others.

      Powertrains-wise, we can expect the same 398.63cc, DOHC 4V, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine generating around 46 hp of peak power and 39 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox, a slip and assist clutch and a bi-directional quick shifter.       Developing electric versions of existing models has proven to be a successful strategy for automakers. Tata Motors has been leading the charge in this area for some time, and now other manufacturers are following suit. Kia India appears to be the latest to adopt this approach, as indicated by the first-ever spy shots of a Sonet EV test mule.

      Sonet has been a very popular offering in the sub 4m SUV segment. It is currently powered by either Petrol or Diesel engines. For the first time, a Kia Sonet test mule has been spied on ahead of its official launch in 2025.

      For starters, this particular test mule is fully camouflaged and was spied with additional structural camouflage at the rear too. We could not spot any visible tailpipe on this test mule, suggesting that it might be a fully electric vehicle that is based on ICE version of Sonet. Launch likely to happen in 2025.
      We did not see any major change in design, which is logical as it keeps costs down as there are more shared parts between EV and ICE versions. Even the alloy wheels looked like they were the same 16-inch units, offered with ICE Sonet.

      At the rear, this test mule suggested that it has the same connected LED tail light signature as ICE Sonet. There might be an EV-specific rear bumper to establish some design distinctions. The new spy shots showed upcoming Sonet EV’s right side and rear section. We couldn’t spot any charging ports, suggesting it may be present where ICE Sonet has its fuel filler.

      At the front, Kia Sonet EV seems to be carrying over the lighting elements, which is understandable too. Attributes like front parking sensors and 360-degree cameras are expected to carry over too. Other than that, we can see roof rails along with other elements similar to ICE Sonet.

      What to expect?
      On the inside, we can expect Sonet EV to carry over a lot of elements from Sonet ICE. Like the dual 10.2-inch displays supporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bose premium speakers, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, a single-pane sunroof, auto climate control with rear AC vents, air purifier and Level-1 ADAS among others.

      Feature add-ons might include an electric parking brake, adjustable regenerative braking and all-four disc brakes as standard, among others. Battery specs are not known as of now, but around 45 kWh pack with 450 km of claimed range sounds feasible. There will be a single motor driving front wheels and the possibility of a frunk (front trunk) is less.

      Expanding the horizon of its electric vehicle portfolio, Mahindra Auto has been taking great strides. In 2022, the company showcased five of its upcoming born-electric electric cars. Of these, BE.05 and XUV.e9 seem to be closing production and a grand global debut might be away as suggested by the recent spy shots.

      These spy shots show Mahindra BE.05 and XUV.e9 during what seems like TVC shoots somewhere outside India. These units were fully undisguised and showed their exterior design elements in fully production-spec form. We should expect a TVC soon and before that, let’s take a look at what the spy shots show.

      With global aspirations, Mahindra Auto has carved out a range of stunning electric SUVs that should launch sometime next year. Based on their born-electric INGLO platform, Mahindra is eyeing to dominate the Indian electric SUV market and then expand their EV production expertise to include global markets as well.

      Squared-off wheel arches with chunky wheel claddings along with side body claddings are both finished in a gloss black. Wheels look like they are around 19-inchers in size. Design is of a 5-spoke type, but there are aerodynamic patterns, looking very futuristic. The fixed glass roof ends in a split spoiler design and a similar effect is mimicked on the rear bumper too.

      Front door gets flush pop-out door handles. LED tail lights are connected in design and have a massive signature. At the front, we can see a massive C-shaped LED DRL signature with an illuminated BE logo. Front also has an open grill that channels air through its bonnet, which is a neat touch.

      Where XUV.e9 is concerned, we can see two shades of it in the spy shot. One in a Golden colour and the other in a ravishing Red. It boasts a massive fascia with a closed-off grill, vertically laid-out headlights, and connecting LED DRLs. Pop-out front door handles and large aerodynamic wheels are notable elements.

      What do they get on the inside?
      On the inside, Mahindra is giving BE.05 cockpit-like feel with a pronounced split in the middle. Other notable elements include a floating centre console and dual 10.25-inch screens, a new steering wheel with an illuminated logo, a large HUD and more. XUV.e9, on the other hand, one-ups BE.05 with a triple screen layout, but lacks the cockpit-like feel.

      Powertrain details are not known yet. However, speculations suggest BE.05 and XUV.e9 could get battery packs between 60 kWh and 80 kWh, mated to either a single-motor RWD or dual-motor AWD setups. As of now, Mahindra is active in a few global markets selling vehicles like Pik-Up range, Scorpio N and XUV700. The upcoming XUV.e8 (XUV700 EV), XUV.e9 (XUV700 EV Coupe) and BE.05 are likely to join the list of exported cars from Mahindra.

      2025 Tata Harrier EV has been spotted multiple times on road tests since the concept was unveiled at the 2023 Auto Expo. This recent test vehicle was clicked in Jabalpur, MP, while stationed in a parking lot. Tata Harrier EV is expected to be launched by the end of this current financial year.

      In terms of its design and styling, Harrier EV closely mirrors its ICE sibling. Design features seen with the concept have been implemented in the production model in most parts. Some of the key highlights include Bi-LED projector headlamps, sequential LED DRLs and centre position lamp and front LED fog lamps. Changes for Harrier EV will include a closed-off grille and refreshed lower fascia.

      Side profile is largely the same as the ICE model. But this test vehicle has a different design for the alloy wheels in comparison to that of test vehicles spotted earlier. The wheels have R17 235/66 Apollo tyres. 2025 Tata Harrier EV has conventional door handles, thick body cladding, blacked-out pillars and ORVMs with integrated turn indicators.
      The charging port is installed on the left, just above the rear wheel. Rear profile seems familiar to that of ICE Harrier. The connected LED tail lamp with welcome and goodbye animation will be the same. Most features on the inside are the same as the ICE Harrier. It includes the dashboard, steering wheel, AC vents, door trims and centre console. One of the key highlights is the 12.3-inch centrally mounted touchscreen infotainment system.

      Various other features will be common such as voice-assisted panoramic sunroof with mood lighting and personalized lighting on the dashboard. 2025 Tata Harrier EV has the multifunction steering wheel with illuminated logo in the centre. It will be getting the new-gen central control panel and persona themed interiors. Interestingly, there is a roof mounted fan in this test mule. Probably for cabin air circulation when it is getting tested for range without AC.

      Improved safety
      Tata Motors will position the Harrier EV as a more premium product in comparison to the ICE Harrier. Accordingly, it will be getting some additional features. Safety will be enhanced with some new additions to the ADAS kit.
      Existing ICE Harrier offers ADAS features such as forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking and adaptive cruise control. There’s traffic sign recognition, high beam assist, lane departure warning and blind spot detection. Users also benefit from lane change alert, rear collision warning and rear cross traffic alert.

      Performance boost with AWD
      2025 Tata Harrier EV will have AWD option, something that’s missing on the ICE Harrier. This will be another good reason why users may want to choose the EV version over the ICE model. Harrier EV will be based on Tata’s acti-ev pure EV architecture that also supports FWD and RWD. It is expected to get a 60-80 kWh battery pack. Certified range could be around 500 km and will support fast charging. Launch price could be around Rs 30 lakhs and will rival upcoming XUV700 EV.

      As compared to the ICE Creta, the Creta electric has a new steering wheel. It has a 3-spoke design and is a completely circular unit. In comparison, the ICE Creta has a flat bottom steering wheel.

      While the interiors seem familiar, one can see exclusive ‘CRETA electric’ badging on the upholstery. Creta EV could get new interior theme options and more dynamic choices for ambient lighting. However, such features are not evident with this specific spy image.

      Most other features in the front row are largely the same as the new Creta. Some of the key highlights include a curvy dashboard, horizontally placed AC vents and dual 10.25-inch screens for the infotainment and instrument console.

      The central console of the test mule is still a work in progress setup, but it’s evident that most of the panel buttons are borrowed from the ICE Creta. Presence of physical buttons on the central console makes practical sense, although the polished interior aesthetics are slightly compromised in the process.

      Equipment list
      Creta EV will borrow most of the equipment from the ICE Creta. The latter has dual-tone interiors, leather wrapped steering wheel and gear knob and 8-way power adjustable driver seat. Depending on the variant, upholstery options include fabric and leatherette. Creta EV will get a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone automatic temperature control, front ventilated seats and electric parking brake with auto hold.
      Gear selector is likely to be on the stalk behind steering wheel, like in Ioniq 5. There will be a rotary dial for selecting traction control modes. Users can access smartphone wireless charger, cruise control, keyless entry, rear AC vent and USB charging ports. A comprehensive range of safety features will be available with Creta EV.

      The list includes 6-airbags, electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, hill start assist control, rear disc brakes and tyre pressure monitoring system. Hyundai Creta EV will have automatic headlamps, headlamp escort function, day and night IRVM, rear parking sensors and camera and front parking sensors. A comprehensive range of ADAS features will be offered with Creta EV.
      Creta EV – Range, performance
      While there is no official confirmation, it is estimated that Creta EV will have a range of around 450 km. With an advanced regen braking system, users can expect a good real-world range of around 350 km. Creta EV is expected to be equipped with a 45-kWh battery pack. The electric motor will generate around 138 hp and 255 Nm of torque. Hyundai will ensure that Creta EV delivers a better overall performance than the ICE Creta. More

      Indian car buyers have been slowly adopting electric vehicles in their lives. The projected EV penetration in the market might not be as much as much as that of a new ICE vehicle. But more manufacturers are willing to experiment in the mainstream electric car segment.
      Kia Carens Facelift
      Latest entrant on this list is Kia with their upcoming Carens EV. Launched in 2022, Kia Carens will soon get a facelift with exterior revisions, as seen in the recent spy shots. Alongside Carens facelift, Kia India seems to be testing Carens EV as well, as indicated by the recent spy shots.
      What sets this particular test mule apart from previous ones is the fact that there is no visible exhaust lurking from underneath the rear bumper. There seems to be a new sophisticated suspension setup on this particular test mule, designed to bear additional weight of an electric car’s battery packs.
      Kia Carens Facelift Spied
      Beyond the suspension, there is a silver element which might be Carens EV’s battery pack. Carens EV will boast lower ground clearance as opposed to Carens’ 195 mm. We can expect around 45 kWh battery powering a sole electric motor powering front wheels only. There’s a good probability that Kia Carens EV will share powertrains with upcoming Creta EV.
      In these spy shots, we don’t see a rear electric motor as well. Where rivals are concerned, upcoming BYD eMax 7, seems to be the only one, going by size and seating layout is concerned. Speaking of, Kia Carens EV might come with both 6S and 7S options, expanding versatility.

      Design changes
      Like many electric cars sold in India, Kia Carens EV will share its sheet metal and platform with its ICE counterpart, the upcoming Carens facelift. Both Carens facelift and Carens EV are likely to get similar lighting elements along with most of the interiors attributes, features and creature comforts.
      While both will get EV5 inspired makeover, Carens electric may get certain distinguishing elements of its own. Like a closed-off grill, similar to Kia EV9 flagship electric SUV, which is slated to launch in India on October 3rd. Hyundai is also testing their first mass-market electric car, Creta EV, which will go on sale before Kia Carens EV.

      After launching Thar Roxx in India, Mahindra Auto is taking decent strides in expanding their portfolio. Soon, the company will launch a slew of EVs, starting with XUV.e8 (XUV700 EV), which has been spied in close-to-production form. These spy shots show car’s interiors and the massive triple-screen layout it will come equipped with. Let’s take a look.

      One of the most popular car manufacturers in India, Mahindra Auto, has been expanding its portfolio with innovative and trendy products. Based on their newly developed born-electric INGLO platform, Mahindra has showcased as many as five products spread across BE and XUV.e sub-brands.
      Mahindra XUV700 EV (XUV.e8)
      First of these five to launch, is likely to be XUV.e8, which is an electrified version of XUV700 ICE SUV already on sale. Test mules of Mahindra XUV700 EV have been frequent owing to intensified testing. The latest spy shots are thanks to automotive enthusiast Deepen Patwa who spotted this test mule in Nashik.
      Where design is concerned, Mahindra XUV.e8 is very closely associated with XUV700. Previous test mules have confirmed the same and the only design changes are likely to be concentrated at the front with a brand new fascia. New spy shots show car’s exteriors from the side and a glimpse of XUV.e8’s interior.

      From the side, Mahindra XUV.e8 electric car gets a new set of alloy wheels, which have been spotted before. We can see similar flush door handles along with a charging port at the same location as XUV700’s fuel filler. Powertrain-wise, Mahindra XUV700 EV may get up to 80 kWh battery with around 500 km of claimed range. Previous spy shots have confirmed a rear motor on XUV.e8, hinting at a dual-motor AWD setup too.
      Triple display bonanza
      Main highlight of these spy shots is the dashboard which can be seen with minimal camouflage. The dashboard is dominated by three 10.25-inch (speculated) screens. Centre one is the main infotainment screen and will support touch inputs along with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay projection.

      The driver’s display will be a non-touch panel and will show car’s instrumentation along with a few vehicle-related details along with navigation info. The third screen will also be a touch panel, dedicated to front passenger. The functions of this display are still unknown and it is interesting to see how Mahindra implements it.
      Will this display act as an extension of main infotainment screen? Will it be a hybrid of both infotainment and instrumentation? Or, is it just a gimmick? Only time will tell. In these spy shots, this third display seems to be showing music or radio controls. Also, the driver looks like he is operating instrument screen by touch, which might not be the case. More

      2025 Hyundai Inster EV XRT Offroad Version Spied – Punch EV Rival

      As part of its EV portfolio expansion plans, Hyundai has been introducing mass-market products. One of these is the Inster EV, which is based on the Casper compact crossover sold across international markets. Latest spy shots reveal that Inster EV could also get an off-road model.
      Hyundai Inster EV off-road version – What to expect?
      To achieve a powerful road presence, Inster EV off-road version uses some additional equipment. The test mule can be seen with a large roof rack that can be offered as an optional feature.

      It appears to be a heavy-duty unit with broad pillars supporting the top storage section. This roof rack can be useful for campers and long-distance touring. The standard Inster model already has a boot space of 238 litres. With the rear seats folded, the boot space can be increased to 351 litres.
      Another change is the use of new wheels with rugged styling. These are entirely different from the low-drag, aerodynamically designed units seen with the standard Inster model. The rugged wheels are likely to have greater strength as well. Depending on the variant, the standard Inster is offered with wheel sizes of 15-inch and 17-inch. The off-road version seems to be using 17-inch wheels.

      Side profile seems largely the same as the standard model. Only some additional rubber moulding can be seen on the side cladding. Inster EV has a conventional front door handle, whereas the rear door handles are mounted on the C pillar.

      ORVMs of the test mule are body coloured, similar to the standard model. Front and rear sections are heavily camouflaged, making it difficult to identify the changes. Only the lighting elements are visible and these appear to be the same as that of the standard model.

      XRT variant possibilities
      Hyundai offers the XRT package for several of its SUVs such as Santa Fe, Palisade and Santa Cruz. In the electric segment, the Ioniq 5 XRT will be launched soon. The XRT package focuses primarily on bolder styling, with blacked-out parts.
      The black treatment is applied to parts such as the front grille and alloy wheels. Hyundai XRT models also have thick black cladding and XRT badging across exteriors and interiors. Many of these features seem to match the updates seen with the off-road version of Inster EV.

      Performance boost?
      While the off-road version of Inster will have relatively better off-roading capabilities than the standard model, it is not certain if the former will be getting a performance boost. The standard Inster EV has battery options of 42 kWh and 49 kWh (long-range model). Power output is 97 PS and 115 PS, respectively. Torque of 147 Nm is common for both models. Range is 355 km (WLTP) for the long-range model. When using a 120 kW DC fast charger, 10% to 80% charge can be achieved in around 30 minutes.
