Royal Enfield Himalayan Scram 411 Custom – Modified To Race

Commissioned by Royal Enfield, this customized Scram 411 Supermoto edition was to debut at Glemseck 101 race meetRoyal Enfield Himalayan Scram 411 CustomWith their simple, yet robust architecture, Royal Enfield bikes are easy to modify and can support a wide variety of body styles. Latest custom project involves Himalayan Scram 411 that has been transformed into a Supermoto racing machine. Commissioned by Royal Enfield, this custom project has been executed by Germany-based Crooked Motorcycles. Images are credited to Bike Exif.Key objective of this project was to showcase the creative prowess of team Crooked. The challenge was to achieve an entirely new look, without losing out on the core character of Himalayan Scram 411. Moreover, everything needed to be done in a time period of just three weeks.Himalayan Scram 411 Supermoto – SuperScramCustom-made SuperScram has such an unconventional design that calling it radical will be an understatement. Much of the bike’s body panelling has been removed and replaced with custom-made panels. The primary choice of metal here is aluminium, which is easy to mill into the desired shape. Unlike stock Scram 411 that has a curvy fuel tank and body panelling, SuperScram has straight-cut panels with sharp profile. Some deep-level modifications were performed such as removal of subframe and replacing it with a custom bodywork. The stock fuel tank has been entirely removed and there’s a new custom fuel tank built under the seat. It comes with a snazzy pop-up filler cap. The underseat fuel reservoir not only helps achieve a sleek look and feel, but also lowers the bike’s centre of gravity.Royal Enfield Himalayan Scram 411 CustomAt front, the bike has bright Supernova LED headlight. Tail lights are custom-made and placed in the lower section of rear fender. Parts like license plate, speedometer and turn signals are missing on purpose, as this is more of a display machine.SuperScram aftermarket upgradesWhile the 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel combo has been retained, SuperScram Supermoto gets Metzeler Sportec M9 tires. Scram 411 stock low-mounted fender has been replaced with a Husqvarna enduro unit. Suspension and braking apparatus have been retained, but the bike gets additional equipment such as Probrake levers and LSL handlebars. These help achieve a sportier look and feel.Other upgrades include short-stroke throttle, Biltwell Inc. grips and a CNC-machined start button seamlessly integrated into the bodywork. The saddle is another key highlight, which appears like a nano runway. The custom Alcantara seat stretches all the way from the steering head to the bike’s rear fender. It is functionally relevant though, as it allows easy movement of the rider. The bike gets a custom exhaust that runs parallel to the seat.Colour theme is predominantly black, with contrasting bits of yellow. The black shade comes in glossy finish across most parts. Components like the engine are also blacked out. There are no performance upgrades in this customization project.Source More

2006 Chevrolet SSR Is Our Bring a Trailer Auction Pick of the Day

    • The Chevrolet SSR convertible V-8 pickup truck is one of the highlights from an era obsessed with retro styling.• In typical GM fashion at the time, the first SSR looked good but had tepid performance. This later version has a 6.0-liter LS2 V-8 pumping out 390 horsepower and a six-speed Tremec manual to stir up those horses.• With four days to go, bidding for the online auction sits at just $16,000.When automotive archaeologists pen the chapter on the early 2000s, they’ll wonder if there was some kind of rift in the space-time continuum. All of a sudden, the roads were full of pseudo-1930s, ’40s, and ’50s machinery, from the Chrysler PT Cruiser to the Ford Thunderbird to the Plymouth Prowler. Few of these throwbacks were actually good, but they were at least fun. And when it came to reimagining a 1950s hot-rod pickup for the 2000s, General Motors (eventually) got it right. Today’s pick from the Bring a Trailer auction site—which, like Car and Driver, is part of Hearst Autos—is this low-mileage Chevrolet SSR, in the ideal specification. More on the SSRChevrolet first showed the SSR as a concept at the Detroit auto show in 2000. It was styled by GM’s Andre Hudson and the go-ahead to build a working prototype was given by Ed Welburn, later GM’s global head of design. SSR stood for Super Sport Roadster, and the vehicle brought some much-needed excitement to the show. At the time, the Camaro was just two model years from a long pause, and bow-tie enthusiasts wondered what would replace it.Bring a TrailerThe SSR wouldn’t, but it was fun nonetheless, and the public clamored for a production version. Inspired by the 1947–1955 “Advance Design” pickup trucks, it was a street rod available at your local dealership, ready to line up at the dragstrip and . . . disappoint. The 2003 SSR looked and sounded the part but, like the Plymouth Prowler, was more show than go. The 5.3-liter Vortec V-8 made 300 horsepower, but with its Chevy Trailblazer underpinnings and power-folding hardtop, the SSR clocked in at a portly 4700 pounds. Imagine putting a grand piano in the trunk of a Corvette. Quarter-mile times were nearly sixteen seconds. But hold your boos, because GM took the criticism to heart and heated up their factory hot rod with the 6.0-liter V-8 the original concept had promised. When Car and Driver tested this improved version in 2005, we came away feeling a wrong had been righted. The combination of this engine and the six-speed tranny gives the SSR some rabid bite to go along with an already hairy bark . . . GM should have put a bigger, more powerful engine and a manual transmission in the SSR right from the start. Now with 390 horsepower at 5400 rpm and peak torque of 405 pound-feet at 4400 rpm, the SSR romped to 60 mph in 5.5 seconds and through the traps in 14.1 seconds at 100 mph. That’s more like it.Even better, whereas the SSR initially was a four-speed automatic only, there was now an optional six-speed manual gearbox. Never was $815 better spent than equipping GM’s concept-come-to-life with a meaty shift action as satisfying as wielding a steak knife. This SSR is one of these later versions and has just 2900 miles on the odometer. That’s not so low that you can’t enjoy it as a weekend cruiser in the summer, a use for which the SSR’s limited practicality would be well paired. There’s a small ding to be attended to, but the silver exterior and black interior otherwise present well.As a quirky machine from an oddly backward-looking time, the SSR is certainly a conversation starter. Fitted with the best possible powertrain, this one’s got the driving experience to match its looks. Don’t let it get away—rifts in the space-time continuum only come along every so often. This content is imported from OpenWeb. 2023 Rivian R1S and R1T Get Less Choice of Configuration, Better Range Numbers

Rivian’s biggest battery pack promises over 400 miles of range, but now it can no longer be paired with the quad-motor configuration. The automaker says the change is necessary to simplify production for its scaling business model. EPA has revised estimates for R1T and R1S models equipped with the quad-motor setup and second-largest battery pack.Domestic EV automaker Rivian has announced that it’s canceling one of the battery and drive motor configurations for the R1T pickup and R1S SUV. For the 2023 model year, buyers were finally going to have the option to spec their factory order with both the gutsy quad-motor setup and the biggest battery option: a 180.0-kWh unit dubbed the “Max” pack. The combination was certainly enticing, as the former was able to rocket us to 60 miles per hour in 3.0 seconds—the quickest pickup we’ve ever tested—and the latter promises more than 400 miles of range. Unfortunately, Riv has axed plans to produce such a combo, leaving quad-motor models to soldier on with the “Large” 135.0-kWh battery pack.RivianNotably, the Max battery pack has already been delayed, so this cancellation is another blow to potential customers who want the most Rivian has to offer. According to a report by InsideEVs, the young company sent an e-mail to customers who already reserved such a build, stating that such a change “supports our continued focus on simplifying the production process as we scale.” As a reminder, Rivian is still relatively new in the marketplace; the R1T was launched in 2021 and the R1S was launched just this year. Range ChangesIn addition to the loss of the aforementioned powertrain and drivetrain pairing, Rivian’s duo also gets new EPA ratings. R1T models equipped with the quad-motor setup, Large battery pack, and 21-inch wheels saw its EPA estimated range climb from 314 to 328 miles. Meanwhile, R1S models in the same spec are up from 316 to 321 miles. RivianWhile the increased battery size and extra 80 or so miles of range would surely be appreciated, we were still thoroughly impressed by the quad-motor acceleration and all-terrain capability provided by both the R1T and the R1S. We’re interested to see how a model equipped with a dual motor and the Max battery pack compare, and if the increased range offsets the decrease in performance and versatility. This content is imported from OpenWeb. Kawasaki Ninja 300 Price Cut – Z650 Benefits Of Rs 35k Offer

Price reduction is likely aimed at clearing existing inventory to make way for MY23 version of Kawasaki Ninja 3002022 Kawasaki Ninja 300Year-end discounts are quite common, as OEMs and dealers try to clear inventory as much as possible. Working on those lines, Kawasaki has reduced price of Ninja 300 by Rs 10,000. From the earlier price of Rs 3.40 lakh, the bike will now be available at a starting price of Rs 3.30 lakh (ex.sh).Price cut for Kawasaki Ninja 300 will be applicable till December 31, 2022 or till stocks last, whichever is earlier. Next year, Kawasaki is expected to launch the MY23 version of the bike. It will continue to rival the likes of KTM RC 390, BMW G 310 RR and TVS Apache RR310.Impact on salesFor a bike that costs Rs 3.40 lakh, a price reduction of Rs 10k is not significant. In percentage terms, it works out at around 3%. It may work as an incentive for true-blue Ninja enthusiasts, but unlikely to impact folks who have non-partisan views. However, if the inventory is not too big, the Rs 10k price cut can potentially achieve its objective.Even with the price cut, Ninja 300 will continue to be the most expensive bike in its class. KTM RC 390 is priced at around Rs 3.18 lakh whereas BMW G310RR retails at around Rs 3 lakh. Most affordable is Apache RR310, available at a starting price of Rs 2.65 lakh.2022 Kawasaki Ninja 300 price cut by Rs 10,000For the price cut to be more effective, a reduction of 5-10% could have delivered better results. A price tag closer to the 3-lakh mark would have been perceived as more beneficial from the customer’s point of view. A recent example is that of Honda CB300F, where prices have been reduced by a massive Rs 50,000. It has effectively reduced the starting price to around Rs 1.75 lakh. This is likely to have a better impact in terms of boosting sales.2022 Kawasaki Z650 discounts / benefits of Rs 35,000In addition to cutting price of Ninja 300, Kawasaki has also announced benefits of up to Rs 35,000 with the purchase of Z650. It is currently priced at Rs 6.43 lakh, ex-sh. It is powered by a 649cc parallel twin LC engine that delivers 68 PS of power and 64 Nm of torque.Kawasaki Ninja 300 MY23 expected featuresCosmetic enhancements and some tech upgrades could be the key focus areas for Kawasaki Ninja 300 MY23 version. Some new colour options can also be introduced. In its current form, Ninja 300 is offered in colour options of Lime Green, Candy Lime Green and Ebony. The Ebony colour is essentially an all-black theme with contrasting dark green highlights. Among the three, the Lime Green probably has the sportiest profile with a vibrant mix of black, green, white and red.It remains to be seen what kind of hardware changes are introduced with Ninja 300 MY23. Ninja 300 is powered by a 296cc, liquid cooled, parallel twin motor that generates 39 PS of max power at 11,000 rpm and 26.1 Nm of peak torque at 10,000 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and assist and slipper clutch. The engine has advanced features such as fine-atomizing injectors, dual throttle valves and hard Alumite coating on pistons. These work to improve ride dynamics, durability and fuel efficiency. Ride quality and overall experience could be further improved with Ninja 300 MY23. More

New Bajaj Platina 110 ABS At Dealer Showroom – First Walkaround

Displacing 115.45 cc, Bajaj Platina 110 ABS engine makes 8.44 bhp of power and 9.81 Nm of torque and is mated to a 5-speed gearboxNew Bajaj Platina 110 ABSCompetition leads to better products for end consumers. This has stayed true in almost every segment. To create competition there has to be someone to take the leap of faith or take the first step. That’s exactly what Bajaj has done with Platina 110 ABS.By launching Platina ABS, Bajaj has introduced the safety net of ABS in 110-115cc budget commuter segment. As seen in top 10 motorcycle sales charts, Hero Splendor and Honda CB Shine secure the top spots while Platina takes 5th spot with 33K units in its name.Bajaj Platina 110 ABS WalkaroundPriced at Rs. 72,224 (ex-sh), Bajaj Platina 110 ABS is a good buy when rivals are considered. Post-launch, display units have started to arrive at dealerships. Thanks to BikeDirector channel, we now have a detailed walkaround to understand what this new vehicle offers. Let’s take a look. This segment-first ABS safety net is likely to bring increased sales for Bajaj. The company has received feedback regarding better braking hardware as the target demographic faced a lot of panic braking situations. Roads are filled with random idiocies and unregulated factors result in panic braking situations which further lead into wheel locking and skidding. These are major concerns and often lead to accidents.[embedded content][embedded content]Now that Bajaj has introduced ABS in this budget commuter segment, it is highly likely that rivals will take notice and implement similar tech. Speaking about the motorcycle in question, the walkaround video gives good insights. For starters, design and powertrain are identical to the Platina 110 ES model, without ABS.We get a fairly stylish design when commuter standards are concerned. Alloy wheel differs from Platina 100 and gets an option of disc brake as well. Headlight assembly gets a black surround and a semi-transparent visor, which is opaque on lower trims of Platina 100. It gets a long seat which should appeal to the target demographic. We now have ABS stickers on front telescopic forks which is a visual identifier as opposed to other variants in Platina 110 lineup. The digital instrument cluster offers a fair amount of information and even displays ABS indications as well.Specs & FeaturesComponentry is kept identical to standard Platina 110, except for the new ABS hardware. The overall motorcycle weighs in at just 119 kg and is very manoeuvrable by an average person. Combining this lightness with a 115.45 cc single-cylinder engine, one can expect impressive fuel economy figures. This fuel injected engine is capable of making 8.44 bhp of power at 7,000 RPM and 9.81 Nm of torque at 5,000 RPM. It is mated to a 5-speed gearbox connected to rear wheels via a chain drive. Bajaj Platina 110 ABS retains the 11L fuel tank from the outgoing model and offers a decent tank range. More
