Image – ThrustzoneKTM has been in a transition phase for the past few months with new models replacing their predecessors. The latest to join this list is the new-gen RC 390 which has been launched at a price of Rs 3.14 lakh (ex-showroom). It is the final model of the locally built RC lineup to launch in India.Earlier last year, the Austrian brand launched new-gen models of RC 125 and RC 200 in the country. However, the new KTM RC 390 continued to face multiple delays – likely due to chips shortage. Like its smaller siblings, the new-gen RC 390 has undergone a significant amount of updates both in terms of fashion and function.2022 KTM RC 390 Launched- DesignFor starters, like RC 125 and RC 200, RC 390 now receives a single-piece headlamp, flanked by integrated LED DRLs and turn indicators on side encasings, a larger front windscreen and a more muscular fuel tank. Other visual updates include completely redesigned bodywork, revised body graphics, sharper rearview mirrors and a two-piece front fender.A wider front fairing ensures that the new RC 390 gets better aerodynamics than its predecessor. Aerodynamic qualities are further enhanced thanks to the revised side fairings which include air vents to ensure optimized airflow. Other styling details include new body graphics, a raised tail section with new split-style seats and a side-in upswept exhaust muffler. Below is a first look walkaround of the new KTM RC 390, credited to Thrustzone.[embedded content][embedded content]Ergonomics of the faired sports bike seems to have eased to a certain extent due to the presence of an adjustable clip-on handlebar which is 15mm higher in its stock settings. However, riding posture still remains very much committed thanks to rear-set footpegs and a large fuel tank in between the rider and handlebar. The bike has a 322kg gross wt while its kerb weight is pegged at 155kg.Specs & FeaturesRC 390 gets the same steel trellis frame, however, like its other two siblings, the fully-faired sports bike gets a new bolt-on rear subframe for better on-road dynamics. Suspension setup comprises USD forks at front and a mono-shock unit at the rear with a braced alloy swingarm. The entire setup is adjustable. Braking duties will be handled by 320mm front and 230mm rear disc brakes aided by a dual-channel ABS sourced from Bosch.Powering the new RC 390 is a familiar 373.27cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled petrol engine that pumps out 43 bhp at a peak torque of 37Nm at 7,000rpm. The motor is linked to a 6-speed gearbox via a slip and assist clutch. The bike measures 1,965 mm in length, 799 mm in width, 1,145 mm in seat height and its wheelbase is 1,347 mm.When it comes to features, RC 390 is packed with gizmos like an all-LED lighting system, a digital TFT instrument console, Bluetooth-based connectivity features via KTM My Ride app, traction control, a standard quick-shifter and cornering ABS. The latest iteration of the ADV made its debut in the US market earlier in January this year. The motorcycle undergoes a few yet significant updates. Priced at Rs 3.28 lakh (ex-showroom), the adventure tourer has received some aesthetic as well as functional upgrades. KTM is also offering attractive finance offers, with EMI starting from Rs 6,999 per month.2022 KTM 390 Adventure: Styling UpdatesStarting with aesthetics, visual updates on the new 390 Adventure are in line with the Dakar winning KTM FACTORY RALLY machines. In terms of overall design, the 2022 KTM 390 ADV is more or less similar to the current model flaunting the same rugged styling adventure bikes are associated with. The most noticeable styling update is the addition of two new paint schemes- a grey/black scheme and a blue scheme, both offered with orange accents and body graphics. Both these colour options are inspired by larger models in the KTM lineup, for instance, Adventure 890.The updated adventure tourer gets new tank shrouds and rear side panels which are slightly wider than the saddle. This ensures better control to the rider and also reduces wear and tear. Headlamp bezel of the new 390 ADV has been reduced to make the front end slightly lighter. Along with this, shape of the fuel tank has also been optimised to ensure freedom of the rider’s movement and control.2022 KTM 390 Adventure launched in IndiaFeatures on offerOther than this, styling of 390 Adventure remains unchanged. It gets the same split headlamp setup, a front visor, a raised tail section, a chunky underbelly bash plate and split-style seats. The Austrian bikemaker also hasn’t made any significant updates to the equipment with features like all-LED lighting, an adjustable windscreen and a standard 12V charging port included in the package. It is also equipped with a fully coloured TFT instrument display which is enabled with smartphone connectivity and optional turn-by-turn navigation. The most prominent update is the employment of new cast aluminium wheels which get five spokes instead of six. As a result, the wheels are now more resistant to impact and also add to the stiffness of the bike. No changes have been made to either the suspension or braking setup featuring non-adjustable inverted front forks, a WP Apex rear mono-shock and single disc brakes at both ends aided by a dual-channel ABS with off-road mode.Powertrain department of the new 390 Adventure also remains intact with the adventure tourer drawing its power from a familiar 373.2cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor. 2023 KTM Duke Electric Motorcycle – Render Based On Leaked Sketch

Instead of going full power like its current motorcycle range, KTM’s EV strategy will initially focus on developing smaller, affordable units2023 KTM Duke Electric – RenderWith the shift to electric inevitable, popular brands like KTM are busy creating an entirely new portfolio. Things will be challenging, as it’s an entirely new tech. KTM will try to leverage its expertise in areas like design, ride dynamics and brand positioning to stay ahead in the electric two-wheeler segment.A basic sketch was shared by KTM in their annual report. Taking that as reference, automotive rendering artist Pratyush Rout has created a production spec version of the 2023 KTM Duke electric, called the DUK-E.2023 KTM Duke Electric MotorcycleIn terms of power output, KTM E-Duke will be comparable to entry-level 125 Duke. It will have a 5.5 kWh battery pack, supplying power to a 10 kW (13.4 bhp) motor. Range is not officially revealed, but it is likely to be around 100+ kms on a full charge. The battery pack will be a fixed unit, indicating that users won’t have access to benefits possible through swappable battery network. From a design perspective, KTM E-Duke has some of the signature features of existing KTM motorcycles. It has an aggressive front fascia with sharp headlamp, low-set handlebar, sculpted tank design, sporty side panels and short tail section. Based on the colour theme, the bike will have differently coloured wheels at both ends. Sporty graphics can be seen on the tank and side panels.KTM Duke Electric Motorcycle – Sketch from KTM annual reportOverall, the bike has a largely barebones structure if we choose to ignore the side fairing. It helps to keep the weight in check, which in turn contributes to optimizing range. Side fairing may also help in a way by improving the bike’s aerodynamic properties. Shape of the faring suggests that it is designed to channel air, probably to cool down the battery pack and other linked parts.KTM E-Duke launchEven though KTM electric bike development has been confirmed, a timeframe for launch has not been provided. In view of prevailing market trends, it is likely that KTM’s first electric motorcycle will be launched next year. Shortage of auto parts has gotten worse with the ongoing conflict situation and consumer sentiments have also been impacted. It is not certain if KTM will introduce the E-Duke in India. KTM has a significant fan following here, but the response may vary in case of its electric two-wheelers. KTM is likely to initially focus on European markets, where the level of awareness and acceptance for EVs is much higher. The focus will be on young customers who are looking for affordable, environment-friendly ways of mobility.2023 KTM Duke Electric – RenderIn case KTM decides to bring E-Duke to India, it is likely to be manufactured by Bajaj Auto. The company has already designated a new facility in Pune, which will cater exclusively to production of electric vehicles. An investment of Rs 300 crore has been allocated for this facility. Other electric two-wheelers from KTM and Husqvarna as well as Bajaj’s own EV products will be manufactured at this plant. More
