    Resurrecting old brands is a challenging task that comes with significant risks. Mahindra-owned Classic Legends knows that better, as it had to deal with a number of teething troubles initially. Now that Jawa bikes have gained popularity and deliveries have been streamlined, the company is looking to further expand its portfolio. Part of that plan is reviving the Yezdi nameplate, which was quite popular during the 70s to 90s.
    Two Yezdi motorcycle are expected to be launched soon, Roadking and an ADV based on the same platform. These have been spotted multiple times on road tests. It is possible that launch could be scheduled for November 15, which marks the fourth anniversary of Classic Legends.
    Yezdi Roadking Adventure styling and features
    Spotted undisguised recently, Yezdi Roadking ADV could be seen in white colour. Fuel tank has bands in contrasting blue and black shade, which enhance the bike’s sporty profile. Wing-styled Yezdi logo, glossy steel fuel cap and ‘Legendary Yezdi’ engraving on the fuel tank add another layer of uniqueness to the bike.
    It is likely that several more colour options will be available for Roadking ADV. For the white variant, the engine and wheels carry their original metallic finish. Most other components have been blacked out.
    Yezdi Roadking Adventure spied next to Mahindra Mojo
    Similar to features available with Himalayan, Yezdi Roadking ADV has dedicated racks at front and rear. Other key features include round headlamp, turn signals and tail light, large windscreen, fork gaiters, dual front fenders, crash guard for engine and radiator, split seats, spoke wheels and upswept exhaust.
    Users can expect comfortable rides, as the bike has wide, raised handlebar and centrally positioned footpegs. The full-digital instrument console is packed in shockproof casing, an essential feature for extreme off-roading.
    Yezdi Roadking ADV engine and specs
    Powering Roadking ADV could be the 334cc engine currently used with Jawa Perak. The single-cylinder, liquid cooled, DOHC motor churns out 30.64 ps of max power and 32.74 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a constant mesh 6-speed gearbox. In comparison, Royal Enfield Himalayan is powered by a 411cc, air cooled, single cylinder, SOHC motor. It makes 24.3 ps / 32 Nm.
    Yezdi Roadking Adventure
    Yezdi Roadking Adventure will have standard telescopic forks at front and swingarm rear suspension. Wheels could be 19-inch and 17-inch units at front and rear, respectively. Both ends will have disc brakes and single-channel ABS could be offered as standard. Roadking ADV will be competitively priced to improve its chances against Himalayan. It could be offered in the price range of Rs 1.75 lakh to Rs 2.10 lakh.
    It’s good to see that Himalayan will finally have some company. The Yezdi nameplate has significant brand value and can emerge as a viable option against select Royal Enfield motorcycles. While Jawa alone hasn’t caused any major trouble for Royal Enfield, things could change with launch of Yezdi motorcycles. More

    Yezdi Roadking ADV 350 Spied Closely – New Details Of Himalayan Rival

    Classic Legends has taken upon itself to revive iconic motorcycle brands from yesteryears. It started with the Czech brand Jawa in 2018 and it will continue with Yezdi and the iconic British nameplate BSA in the coming future. The latter will specifically cater to buyers in the UK market.
    The Indian two-wheeler manufacturer filed a trademark for the ‘Roadking’ moniker in India which will likely be the first motorcycle under the Yezdi brand. A test mule of a motorcycle which is presumed to be a Yezdi has been spotted on a couple of occasions previously. Based on the Roadking, a new ADV will also be launched, that will take on the Royal Enfield Himalayan.
    Yezdi Roadking ADV 350
    At the first glance, the motorcycle reminds us of Royal Enfield Himalayan. In all possibilities, it will be positioned as an entry-level adventure bike against the off-roader from the Chennai-based bikemaker. Signature ADV styling highlights of this bike include a beak-like front mudguard, a taller handlebar, a large windscreen, a raised tail section and multi-purpose tyres.
    The ADV also gets mountings to accommodate accessories such as a luggage rack and pannier boxes. It gets an all digital instrument cluster which is encased in a way which is usually seen on rally motorcycles. Take a look at the detailed video by The Fat Biker below.

    Both Yezdi motorcycles will share the same underpinnings which will include telescopic front forks and twin shock absorbers at rear. However, the ADV derivative is expected to offer greater travel than the scrambler version. Braking duties will be handled by disc brakes at both ends complemented by a single-channel ABS as standard.
    Engine Specs
    The new Roadking and its ADV sibling will be manufactured under the same roof as their Jawa cousins at the company’s production facility in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh. They are expected to be powered by a new Perak based 350cc engine. It will be a single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor which will deliver power in the 30 PS range. It is likely to be coupled with a 6-speed constant mesh transmission.
    Upcoming Yezdi Roadking
    The upcoming Roadking is expected to be a neo-retro scrambler which has been testified with the earlier spy shots. Speculative design renderings have also suggested that it could possibly be a scrambler. A testing prototype of Roadking has been spotted again revealing crucial details about the upcoming scrambler. It is most likely to be underpinned by the same platform as Mahindra Mojo and its Jawa cousins.
    Yezdi Roadking ADV 350cc
    Some of its key styling highlights which give it a retro appeal include a round headlamp, short front fenders, circular taillamps, spoked wheels, circular rearview mirrors, almond-shaped fuel tank, a single-piece cantilevered seat and fork gaiters. In comparison to its modern classic counterparts from Jawa, Roadking could be offered with a slightly taller handlebar.
    Unlike the previous spy shots of Roadking, the current set of images reveal a finished upswept exhaust. The riding posture also seems fairly comfortable with an upright stance thanks to centre-set footpegs and a straight handlebar.     Launched in 2018, Jawa motorcycles have emerged as popular options for retro enthusiasts. While existing models continue to deliver consistent sales, Jawa is looking to further boost numbers by expanding its portfolio.
    Jawa range will be extended to include new products, one of which will be a cruiser bike. This was recently spotted on road test in Pune. Thanks to Suyog Phadtare for sharing the exclusive spy shot of new Jawa cruiser.
    Jawa cruiser styling and features
    Just like other Jawa bikes, the cruiser focuses on retro styling bits. Some key features include round headlamp and rear-view mirrors, tear-drop shaped fuel tank and turn signals, broad rear fender, and comfy wide seat.
    Dimensionally, Jawa cruiser appears to be around the same size as Perak. It is possible that it could share the same platform as that of Perak, with a bit of tuning. The upcoming Jawa Cruiser has a pillion seat, which is much larger than any other Jawa motorcycle on sale today. Also, the rear suspension setup is that of twin-shocks, instead of a monoshock that is seen on Perak.
    New Jawa Cruiser Spied
    Side profile is pretty skeletal with just the radiator, engine and side cover. The bike has dual exhaust pipes in a sober, minimalistic design. Users can expect a throaty aural experience, similar to or even better than existing Jawa motorcycles. The test mule spotted had a dark theme, evident in blacked-out parts such as crash guard, exhaust, engine, and wheels. At launch, the bike is likely to be offered in multiple colour options.
    Talking about ergonomics, Jawa cruiser has a comfortable, upright riding stance. The bike has raised, wide handlebar and forward set footpegs. The wide seat with ample cushioning should ensure optimal comfort for both rider and pillion.
    Footpegs for pillion are also placed in a forward position. It is possible that Jawa cruiser may get Bluetooth-based connectivity features. The test mule was spotted with inverted speedo, which is already offered with existing Jawa bikes.

    Jawa cruiser has standard telescopic forks at front and dual rear shock absorbers. The bike could be offered with options for both alloy and spoke wheels. It will have disc brakes at both ends, integrated with dual-channel ABS. Upon launch, it might not have any direct rival in the 350cc segment. In the price segment, it will continue to rival the range of 350cc motorcycles from Royal Enfield. If Bajaj Avenger 400 is launched, that could also be a potential rival.

    After Jawa, Mahindra-owned Classic Legends is working to revive other iconic motorcycle brands such as Yezdi and BSA. Yezdi is expected to focus on Indian market, whereas BSA will target European markets, starting with UK.

    Another rival is expected to emerge soon in the form of new Yezdi motorcycles. There will be a scrambler version, likely to be called Roadking as well as an adventure motorcycle rivalling Himalayan. Both motorcycles are expected to use the same platform and engine.
    Upcoming Yezdi Adventure Motorcycle
    In terms of equipment and features, Yezdi adventure motorcycle looks familiar to Royal Enfield Himalayan. Even though the bike has a modern design, some retro flavour is evident in features like circular headlamp. Other key features include tall visor, fork gaiters, raised front fender, and larger front wheel.
    Rear tyre is shorter and wider, which is similar to that of Royal Enfield Himalayan. Both wheels are spoke units. On Himalayan, the front wheel is 21-inch whereas the rear measures 17-inch. Digital rendering artist, Pratyush Rout has created a few renders of the upcoming Yezdi adventure motorcycle, based on the recent spy shots.
    Upcoming Yezdi Adventure Motorcycle
    In other matching details, Yezdi adventure motorcycle gets racks at both front and rear. These can support a wide variety of luggage including panniers. Other key features include sporty rear view mirrors, sculpted fuel tank, tank shrouds, upswept exhaust, split seats, short tail section and circular tail lamp and turn indicators.
    It is evident that Yezdi adventure motorcycle offers a comfortable, upright riding stance. Foot pegs are almost perpendicular to the rider seat. Handlebar is ergonomically placed, ensuring the least effort for the rider. These features will come handy when riding on highways or long off-road tracks.
    Yezdi adventure motorcycle engine
    It is possible that Yezdi ADV motorcycle could borrow the 293 cc, single cylinder, liquid cooled engine from Jawa. This unit is capable of generating 27.33 ps of max power and 27.02 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 6-speed constant mesh transmission. To be a better match for Himalayan, Yezdi ADV could get the 334cc unit from Jawa Perak. This unit churns out 30.64 ps / 32.74 Nm and is mated to a 6-speed transmission.
    Upcoming Yezdi Adventure Motorcycle
    In comparison, Royal Enfield Himalayan gets its power from a 411cc, air cooled, single cylinder, SOHC motor. It generates 24.3 bhp at 6500 rpm and 32 Nm @ 4000-4500 rpm. It is mated to a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox. Yezdi ADV motorcycle has standard telescopic forks at front and monoshock rear suspension. Both wheels have disc brakes and are likely to be offered with dual-channel ABS.
    It is being speculated that Yezdi motorcycles will be the most affordable range from Classic Legends. This could provide a definitive advantage to these motorcycles. For reference, Jawa range starts at Rs 1.78 lakh for single-channel ABS and Rs 1.87 lakh for dual-channel ABS. Perak is available at a starting price of Rs 2.06 lakh.     It seems Classic Legends have taken upon itself to revive iconic yesteryear motorcycle brands that have been left defunct for many years. They have sucessfully revived the Jawa brand with launch of two motorcycles. Next, they have plans to revive BSA and Yezdi brands. Of the two, BSA will focus on export markets like UK, while Yezdi will be launched in India.
    Motorcycles Under Yezdi Brand
    Earlier this year in March, the first test mule was spotted which is believed to be of the upcoming Yezdi Roadking. The same test mule has now been spotted by automotive enthusiast Shreya Patil and Abhijit Patil on the Mumbai – Pune highway. But along with the Roadking, another test mule has been spotted alongside. This one looks like a ADV motorcycle, which will rival the likes of Royal Enfield Himalayan.
    New Yezdi ADV Spied – Royal Enfield Himalayan Rival
    New Yezdi ADV motorcycle features an upright riding stance, spoked wheels, bigger front wheel, wider rear tyre, round headlamps, mountings to accommodate off-road accessories / panniers near the fuel tank as well as at the rear seat, digital instrument cluster, high ground clearance, front and rear disc brake with dual ABS, etc.
    Roadking test mule on the other hand, is being developed on the same lines as a scrambler. The bike could also sport the LED lighting at the front and rear, a digital console and dual channel ABS with raked telescopic front forks and front and rear disc brakes.     Other features could include twin black gas shock absorbers, spoked wheels and circular shaped rear view mirrors. As seen on other scramblers in its segment, the new Jawa model could also receive tall set handlebars and rear set footpegs for a more upright riding stance. Colour options could include Grey, Maroon, Black.
    It is being speculated that Yezdi bikes will undercut their Jawa cousins which can leave a big impact on the modern retro motorcycle segment in India. The new Yezdi bikes can share several commonalities with its Czech counterparts like engine and platforms in order to keep production costs in check. It is also a possibility that both ranges of motorcycles are retailed under the same roof.
    The upcoming Yezdi motorcycles could be powered by the same engine which is on offer with Jawa motorcycles. This is in the form of 300cc single cylinder unit on offer with the Jawa and 42. It may also be powered by a larger 334cc engine that powers the Perak making 30 hp power. Both these engines will get mated to a 6 speed manual as standard.

    Legacy of Yezdi
    Yezdi was a famous motorcycle brand back in the 1970s and 80s which was developed by Ideal Jawa (India) Limited. The Mysore-based company sold licensed Jawa motorcycles in India from 1960 which was rebranded into Yezdi in 1973. The range offered under this brand consisted of models such as Monarch, CL 2, Roadking and 350 which were based on older two-stroke Jawa bikes. The motorcycles were discontinued in mid-1990s due to the arrival of stricter emission norms.
    If previous reports are also to be considered then Classic Legends might also develop and manufacture an electric motorcycle under the Yezdi moniker. With retro middleweight motorcycles being the talk of the town in recent times, manufacturers have realised that this segment might give them good returns in the long run. More

    Based on sightings of Jawa branded versions of Bristol motorcycles, it’s apparent that both entities have some form of agreement between them. Bristol Motorcycles is a Philippines based company that manufactures several bikes in 250cc to 650cc segment.
    Bristol Motorcycles is just around three years old, having commenced operations in 2018. The Jawa-Bristol arrangement could be something similar to what Jawa has with Mahindra-backed Classic Legends that sells Jawa motorcycles in Indian market.
    Bristol Bobber based Jawa 650 – key features
    Earlier, we had seen rebadged versions of Bristol Veloce 500 and Bristol Venturi 500. In their Jawa branded versions, these are called RVR500 and RVM500, respectively. While Veloce is a scrambler, Venturi comes across as an Adv motorcycle. Original Bristol and their Jawa rebadged versions are largely the same. This is likely to be the case with Bristol Bobber as well.
    Talking about Bristol Bobber 650, the bike sports a retro look and feel. Some key features include round headlamp and rear view mirrors, tear-drop shaped fuel tank, turn indicators and rear tail lamp, single piece seat, and broad rear fender.
    Jawa 500cc Scrambler
    Use of spoke wheels further enhances the motorcycle’s retro flavour. Handlebars are placed at an ergonomic position, which should ensure comfortable rides for most users. Customers can choose from colour options of black, dark grey, light grey and red.
    For European markets, Jawa branded Bristol Bobber could get a new set of colour options. Another likely change could be in engine emissions. As Europe currently follows Euro 5 emission norms, the bike has to be compliant with those standards. If emission standards in Philippines don’t match Euro 5 standards, the engine and exhaust system may have to be tweaked accordingly.
    Bristol Bobber engine and specs
    Bristol Bobber is powered by a 649cc, liquid cooled, DOHC parallel twin, 8-valve motor. It is capable of generating 69 hp of max power at 8500 rpm and 62 Nm of peak torque at 7000 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed transmission.
    Jawa 500cc Adventure Motorcycle
    The bike measures 2,245 mm in length, 940 mm in width, 1,040 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 1,505 mm. Seat height and ground clearance is 740mm and 130mm, respectively. It weighs 225 kg and can carry 14.5 litres of fuel. Fuel efficiency is 16 kmpl and rated max speed is 165 kmph.
    Suspension system comprises KYB Telescopic forks at the front and dual shock absorbers at the rear. Braking duties are performed by 345mm disc at the front and 280mm disc at the rear. Dual-channel ABS is offered as standard.
    It is unlikely that Bristol motorcycles or their rebadged versions will be launched in India. Classic Legends managed Jawa India, however, may choose to introduce a larger capacity bobber or other motorcycles in the Indian market.     Jawa 500cc Adventure Motorcycle Debuts As A Rebadged Bristol Venturi 500

    A few days back images of a scrambler wearing a Jawa branding had gone viral in the motorcycling community. This Jawa branded 500cc motorcycle was essentially a rebadged Bristol Veloce 500. Bristol is a Philippines based motorcycle manufacturer which has inked some sort of a deal with Jawa, the original brand from Czech Republic.
    This bike has no relation with the Jawa motorcycles made and sold in India by Classic Legends, a Mahindra & Mahindra backed entity. The Indian company bought the rights of the Jawa brand in India and launched its first motorcycle in 2018. The bikemaker currently has three products that are exclusively manufactured in India. These are Jawa, Forty-Two and Perak.
    Now, coming back to the original Czech entity, Jawa is looking to expand its footprints across Europe and hence will be extending its lineup by introducing new models in the near future. Another such model is Bristol Venturi 500, which has also been launched in Lithuania, Europe. Venturi is an adventure bike and is based on the same architecture and engine as Veloce 500.
    Design
    The latest images shared by Jawa Lithuania, show both the adventure bike and its scrambler sibling standing side by side to each other. While Jawa calls its version of the scrambler as ‘RVR 500’, the adventure tourer is likely to be christened as ‘RVM 500’ as inscribed on the bike’s fuel tank. Both bikes apart from the frame and engine share a lot in common in terms of features and design.

    RVM 500 looks nearly identical to Venturi 500 and only differs in the livery and decals. It gets a traditional beak and tall windscreen upfront as in contemporary adventure motorcycles. The front end of the bike wears a familiar look to BMW G310GS. It flaunts a V-shaped headlamp and a muscular fuel tank upfront while the tail section gets a luggage mounting rack and rear tyre hugger.

    Unlike Veloce 500, RVM 500 gets split-style seating and the dual exhaust pipes are housed onto a single canister. The adventure bike, however, rides on the exactly same 18-inch front and 16-inch rear wire-spoked rims shod by Metzeler Tubeless tyres with a block pattern. Both motorcycles even get a similar handlebar.
    Mechanical Specifications
    Diving deep into its specifics, RVM 500 is underpinned by a dual-beam, Diamond shape steel frame that is suspended on inverted telescopic forks at front and a mono-shock at rear from KYB. Braking duties are handled by dual discs up front and a single disc at rear which are assisted by a dual-channel ABS from Nissin. Other features include a fully digital instrument console and a USB charging port.
    Jawa Europe also has the India-made Jawa Classic on sale
    RVM 500 adventure bike will be powered by the same 471cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine as offered in Veloce 500. This motor pumps out 47 bhp at 8,500rpm and a peak torque of 43 Nm at 6,500rpm and is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.     Jawa is actively working on several products including a Yezdi RoadKing revival, and is also gearing up to explore the higher echelons of the lucrative medium displacement world. Now, photos of new motorcycle have surfaced online. These are wearing Jawa badging. The motorcycle derives inspiration from Honda’s design language.
    There is a badging of ‘RVR500’ just below the fuel tank. Two colour options are seen. The green one has brown seat while the red one has black seat. The interesting wheels with conventional orientation of the spokes definitely stand out.
    Bristol Veloce 500

    The same motorcycles which have been spied with Jawa badge, are exactly same as Bristol Motorcycles – a Philippines based motorcycle manufacturer. It is sold as Bristol Veloce 500. It is priced at about PHP 348k, which is approx Rs 5.2 lakhs as per today’s conversion rates.
    Specifications
    Bristol Veloce 500 is equipped with a liquid-cooled, parallel twin-cylinder (as evident by the twin exhaust downtubes) 471cc engine. Power output is rated at 35 kW (47 hp) @ 8500 rpm and 43 Nm @ 6500 rpm. Transmission is taken care by a 6 speed gearbox.
    New Jawa 500cc Scrambler Spied
    Other highlights include upside-down telescopic front forks, twin-exhaust canisters, monoshock rear suspension, and a single rear disc brake. It is equipped with a fully digital instrument console and dual-channel ABS. The meaty tyres with pronounced buttons give the motorcycle a mild scrambler appeal.
    Bristol Veloce 500
    Dimensions
    Bristol Veloce 500 is 2156mm long, 850mm wide and 1177mm tall. It has a wheelbase of 1460mm and a seat height of 760mm. Kerb weight is at 173 Kgs, while ground clearance is at 190mm. Front Tyre size is 110/80-18 while at the rear is 160/60-17. Full specs can be seen in the table below.
    Is it coming to India?
    Nothing much is known about this motorcycle with Jawa branding and its India launch. It is likely that Jawa brand has partnered with some other company to rebadge the Bristol Veloce 500 and sell it in a select country.

    For now, Jawa is busy establishing itself in India as well as Europe. Exports of their existing range of motorcycles started a few months ago. The company is also reportedly working on a pure electric motorcycle as well as revival of BSA brand for the UK market.
    With an established dealership network across the country, expanding its portfolio to cover a wider range of audience is the logic way forward for Classic Legends. Will the 500cc Jawa scrambler come to India, only time will tell. More
