Honda NX500 Launched In India – Best Multi-Cylinder ADV For Rs. 5,90,000?

Honda NX500 LaunchedThe direct rivals of Honda NX500 launched, are Benelli 502 and 502X along with Kawasaki Versys 650 and to some extent Triumph Tiger Sport 660ADV segment is currently on the rise with more additions than before. However, within 300cc to 500cc segment, there are little to no multi-cylinder ADVs for sale. Honda is fixing that by launching NX500 in India, sold exclusively through their premium BigWing dealerships. Honda NX500 launched, costs Rs. 5.9 lakh (ex-sh). There are three colours – Grand Prix Red, Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic and Pearl Horizon White.Honda NX500 Launched In IndiaIt has to be noted that NX500 is CB500X’s replacement, considering brand positioning and pricing. At the end of its life-cycle, CB500X was priced at Rs. 5.8 lakh (ex-sh), down from its initial pricing of Rs. 6.87 lakh (ex-sh). We have to also note the fact that CB500X was a locally assembled CKD model and was initially priced close to Rs. 7 lakh (ex-sh).In contrast, Honda is importing NX500 as a CBU model, which costs less than CB500X CKD model, despite packing significantly more premium features and hardware. This is interesting to see, which shows that Honda is rethinking its pricing strategies for Indian market. The Rs. 5.9 lakh (ex-sh) pricing for NX500 is reasonably justified, being an import and packing all the extra features over CB500X.For the money, Honda is offering a crossover vehicle. The design theme for Honda NX500 launched, is called “Daily Crossover”, where the bike doesn’t look out of place, whether it is in the city, winding road, highway or gravel trail. A do-it-all proposition, if we may. The bike gets a compact adventure styling to have an imposing, yet nimble silhouette.Honda NX500 ConnectivityAll-LED headlights, tail lights and turn indicators look premium and perfectly accentuate bike’s overall styling. The fairing has a dual-tone effect with black elements to cut down on visual bulk. There is a non-offensive rear subframe with a single-piece seat. Seating posture is upright and there is a decently tall windscreen too.Specs and performanceHonda is even offering a 5-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity along with IOS and Android compatibility. Switchgear is extensive with buttons to control instrument cluster. Honda RoadSync enables navigation, call and music controls from a connected phone. There is an emergency stop signal too.Componentry includes 19-inch front and 17-inch rear aluminium wheels wrapped with 110-section front and 160-section rear tyres, Showa 41mm SFF-BP USD telescopic front forks, Pro-Link mono-shock rear suspension, dual 296mm front disc and single 240mm rear disc, dual channel ABS and has a 17.5L fuel tank. All this is mounted on a steel diamond frame.Honda NX500 FasciaHonda NX500 launched, gets a 471cc parallel twin-cylinder engine with DOHC setup and liquid cooling that generates 47 bhp at 8,600 RPM and 43 Nm torque at 6,500 RPM. This engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and gets a slip and assist clutch along with traction control. The Rs. 5.9 lakh (ex-sh) is introductory and can change at Honda’s discretion. More

Honda Activa Electric Debut Likely Next Month – Launch in H1 2024

Image for illustration purpose.Activa electric will be based on the existing platform and come with a fixed battery setupAlthough late in the two-wheeler EV race, Honda is getting ready to shake up things with multiple new launches. For Indian market, Honda’s first offering will be an electric version of its top selling Activa scooter. Active electric is expected to make its global debut at upcoming Customer Electronic Show (CES). The event is scheduled to be held in Las Vegas, USA, from 9th to 12th January 2024.Activa electric – What to expect?Honda has been working on Activa electric for a long time. It appears that the project has been delayed. In 2020, Honda had even dismissed talks about the launch of Activa electric. Primary constraints pointed out by Honda at that time included the battery pricing and lack of adequate charging infrastructure. As things have evolved significantly over the last three years, Honda is getting ready to launch Activa electric.Honda Activa Electric Scooter TeasedAt 2024 CES, Honda will be showcasing a range of new products including its EV series models meant for global markets. Some of Honda’s newest technologies and innovations will also be showcased. Activa electric will be one of the key products to be showcased at the event. It is likely to be unveiled as a concept. Activa electric will play a key role in achieving Honda’s electrification goals. The company has plans to achieve 100% electrification via EV and FCEV vehicles by 2040.Activa electric will be getting a fixed-battery setup. It will have a top speed of around 50 kmph. Honda will focus on range, instead of prioritizing things like speed and performance. A fixed battery setup could be a disappointment for folks living in multi-storey apartments that don’t have charging infrastructure. But not for long, as Honda will introduce its second electric scooter, soon after launching Activa electric. The second electric scooter will be a high-performance e-scooter and come with swappable battery setup. It will be based on a born-electric platform. In comparison, Activa electric will use a tweaked version of the existing platform in use with ICE Activa.Activa electric India launchPost its global debut, Activa electric could be made available in India by the first half of 2024. Activa is currently the top selling scooter in the country. It makes sense to use the same brand name to power the electric version. India is likely to be the first country to get Activa electric. Honda will also be actively targeting export markets.Talking about competition, the electric two-wheeler segment already seems crowded in India. However, the majority of the sales is contributed by the top 4-5 brands. Bestselling startups in this space include Ola Electric, Ather Electric and Greaves Electric. Established players include TVS Motor, Bajaj Auto and Hero MotoCorp. Activa electric will take on rivals such as Ola S1, TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak and Ather 450X. More

Honda Diabolus Is A Custom CL300 Scrambler With Square Headlights

Honda Diabolus Custom CL300 Scrambler By K-SpeedThe Honda Diabolus custom CL300 Scrambler share its 286cc single-cylinder engine with CB300R that generates 31 bhp of power and 27.5 Nm of torqueRetro classic motorcycles are currently all the rage. Among this broad umbrella, scramblers have seen quite a bit more uproar among enthusiasts when compared to just classic motorcycles. Honda’s CL lineup caters to this demographic. Renowned motorcycle modder K-Speed has created Diabolus based on Honda CL300 Scrambler.Honda Diabolus Is A Customised CL300 ScramblerThailand-based K-Speed Customs has revealed Honda Diabolus, which is a customised CL300 Scrambler. K-Speed has envisioned a purpose-built authentic Scrambler style motorcycle that pays tribute to old legends. The kit is shown with CL300, but can also be implemented on the larger Honda CL500 as well.Said Honda CL300 has been patented in India too. There may be launch intentions, but can very well be just Honda’s standard patenting exercise. CL300 shares its engine with CB300R sold in India which recently got a significant price cut. With new pricing, CB300R is an apt rival to Triumph Speed 400.What K-Speed has done with CL300 is really commendable. It brings a culmination of raw, minimalistic and wild design language that looks better than what Honda had intended. Honda’s round headlight is replaced with a sleek square LED unit with a grill, situated slightly below its triple tree.Honda Diabolus Custom CL300 ScramblerStock front mudguard is replaced with a tall off-road style unit. Handlebar is different and features retro switchgear too. Standard bike’s frame, fuel tank and engine are unchanged. There is a substantial bash plate. Exhaust is now routed from the side into an up-swept twin end can design.Off-road ready retro scramblerIn standard bike, exhaust is routed below the engine and then goes up, ending in an upswept design. Seat has a similar pattern on upholstery, but is a custom single-seater unit. Rear fender is significantly smaller and lends a tidy appearance, displaying its substantial tyres proudly. Speaking of tyres, these are knobby ones that will perform much better on trails than stock ones. What is more attention-grabbing about this Honda Diabolus custom build is its wire-spoke wheels. For starters, these replace the alloy units on standard CL300. I have seen many wire-spoke wheels. However, these have been stylised quite a bit. Rear subframe and round-section swingarm are retained.Honda Diabolus Custom HandlebarOther components like RSU telescopic front forks with gaiters, rear dual-shock absorber setup, re-positioned round speedometer, custom bar-end ORVMs grab attention. This single-cylinder 286cc DOHC 4V engine generates 31 bhp and 27.5 Nm on CB300R. A 6-speed gearbox and slipper clutch are standard too.Ergonomics look upright and should allow rider to push the machine to its limits on an off-road trail. Honda Diabolus customised CL300 Scrambler by K-Speed is one of the best mods on Honda’s CL range ever. I wish more manufacturers brought back square headlights that look properly retro and nostalgic.
