Honda’s new naming strategy dictates this scooter as 2024 X-ADV. Even though India will never witness X-ADV launch, it is an interesting proposition nonetheless. Let’s take a look at what’s new and what’s not.2024 Honda X-ADV with Travel pack2024 Honda X-ADV – The ultimate ADV of scootersFor starters, there is not a lot new with 2024 Honda X-ADV. Except for the new colours, of-course. It now gets a red and silver combination colourway that Honda calls Grand Prix Red. This combination gets Red majorly in the front and rear subframe and other areas get Black. Iridium Grey Metallic is an interesting colour with Grey base shade and neon yellow highlights.Matte Ballistic Matte Metallic is the stealthiest of the bunch with a Black shade throughout and silver engine casing. Lastly, we have Paco Blue which looks the most intriguing off the bunch, it has a faded teal shade and the rear subframe gets Black shade. Only Paco Blue and Matte Ballistic Black Metallic shade gets USD forks in gold shade.2024 Honda X-ADV FeaturesWhile Iridium Grey Metallic and Grand Prix Red get Black USD front forks. Speaking of forks, the 2024 Honda X-ADV gets USD front forks and a rear mono-shock unit. It is a non-step-through scooter with a spine in the middle. This is where the fuel tank is and it liberates 21L of underseat storage and a smart top box is optional too.The most striking scooter in the world? In terms of design, 2024 Honda X-ADV is macho and packs a lot of muscle. New Honda Monkey 125cc Lightning Launch Price THB 109k (Rs 2.6 L)

New Honda Monkey 125cc Lightning EditionHonda sells a number of small bikes and scooters, with Monkey being one of the most likeable and practicalHonda Monkey 125cc bike is quite popular in Japan and several international markets as well. In Thailand, Honda has launched a new Lightning edition. This is primarily a visually upgraded version, featuring a new colour scheme and other cosmetic touch-ups.With its exclusive profile, Honda Monkey Lightning edition commands premium pricing. It is available at a starting price of TBH 108,900, which is approximately Rs 2.59 lakh. In comparison, the standard Monkey variant costs THB 99,700 (approx. Rs 2.38 lakh). Honda also offers Monkey Easter Egg edition, priced at THB 109,900 (approx. Rs 2.62 lakh).New Honda Monkey 125cc Lightning EditionHonda Monkey Lightning edition featuresOne of the key highlights of Honda Monkey Lightning edition is the bright yellow colour shade in glossy finish. The unique ways in which the yellow shade is applied across the bike is another major draw. The yellow bits seem to have been applied in a random fashion. But still, the bike comes across as absolutely stunning and adorable. It’s probably the genius of Monkey’s design that allows it to retain its magic in any shade one throws at it.Monkey Lightning edition has the yellow shade on the USD forks, fuel tank, side panels, swingarm and twin rear shock absorbers. What makes the bike even more alluring is the liberal use of chrome. Front and rear fenders, headlamp, instrument console, brake and clutch levers, turn indicators and rear tail lamp are all done in chrome.New Honda Monkey 125cc Lightning EditionAnother interesting update is the checkered seat with quilted pattern. Stickering work on the fuel tank and side panels is also commendable. These have a contrasting shade and complement the bike’s overall look and feel.In terms of hardware, Honda Monkey Lightning edition is largely the same as other variants. It is powered by a 125cc engine that generates 9.2 bhp of max power and 11 Nm of peak torque. While earlier Monkey had a 4-speed gearbox, the current version comes with a 5-speed gearbox. Rated fuel efficiency under test conditions is 70.5 kmpl.Honda Monkey has disc brakes at both ends, with ABS at front. Fuel tank capacity of 5.6 litres seems adequate for urban commutes. Monkey also has capabilities to take on off-road tracks, as evident with the raised front fender and block pattern tyres.Honda Monkey India launch prospectsWhile Honda Monkey seems to have potential for Indian market as well, it is unlikely that it will be launched here anytime soon. The experience with Navi could be a factor in not introducing the Monkey in India. However, Monkey has a completely distinct and adorable profile in comparison to Navi. Enthusiasts around the world are enjoying the unique riding experience made possible by Monkey. One can only hope that Monkey makes it to our shores as well. More

Honda Revo X Facelift in India – Patent Perfection

Honda Revo X facelift patented in IndiaWhile Supra GTR 150 is a more tech-laden and performant offering, Honda Revo X Facelift is a no-frills mid-range underbone scooterFollowing the launch of the MY23 Dio 125, it now appears that Honda India has patented a new scooter. India is one of the largest motorcycle and scooter markets in India. And its logical that Honda will aspire for a scooter portfolio that’s updated and in keeping with current trends. The patent is for the Honda Revo X Facelift underbone scooter. While it could launch in the Asian subcontinent, or Honda is routinely protecting its IP (intellectual property) in the world’s largest 2W market? Let’s take a look.Honda Revo X Facelift scooter Inside the Patent VaultSupra range comprises underbone scooters that the company sells in ASEAN markets like Indonesia. There is a 150cc model, Supra GTR 150, and a 125cc model, Supra X 125. Revo X scooter too, which sits below Supra range. The one Honda patented in India looks like it is a slightly re-designed version of outgoing Honda Revo X . There are slight differences in body panels in the new patent as opposed to outgoing model. It is a proper underbone scooter with a spine in its floorboard and has 17” alloy wheels.Honda Revo X facelift patent detailsHero Honda tried their luck in this segment with Street 100. Most don’t recall the Street 100 anymore as it never struck teh right chord. As of now, Okinawa Okhi-90 is the only underbone-type scooter. But it has a flat floorboard and boasts 16” alloy wheels. In India, scooters are popularly used as unisex vehicles. Underbone scooter design slightly hinders usability for saree-clad users. Honda is highly unlikely to launch Revo X Facelift in India. Underbone scooters can be generalized as motorcycles with under-seat storage. This sort of vehicle was never popular in India. What does it pack – Supra, GTR, and Revo X in a Single Honda ScooterMaybe because Supra GTR 150 has both Supra and GTR in its name, it is more tech-laden. It has a DOHC setup with a 4V per cylinder configuration and a 6-speed gearbox as well. This liquid-cooled engine displaces 149.16cc and it generates around 16 bhp and 14.2 Nm of torque.Honda Supra X 125 only has Supra in its name. The 124.89cc engine that generates around 10 bhp of power and 9.3 Nm of torque. It lacks fancy equipment and packs a 4-speed gearbox. It seems that Supra X 125 is not GTR enough. But Revo X is a step below that and packs a 109.17cc engine with 8.8 bhp and 8.7 Nm, mated to a 4-speed gearbox. This powertrain is likely to remain with facelifted model as well.Honda Revo X facelift vs outgoing modelDid you ever dream of buying a Toyota Supra? One with a 2JZ-GTE twin-turbo setup? Or even buy a Nissan GT-R? Well, you can buy both Supra and GTR in one scooter which ironically, Honda sells. Kudos to the clever name trademarking strategy by Honda Indonesia. Good job! More

That said, the new instrument cluster is of primary importance. There are two digital LCD displays with MY2023 Honda Dio. In contrast, MY2023 Activa doesn’t even get one.Only the Activa 125 gets the smaller LCD screen, shared with MY2023 Dio. There is a new rectangular display that packs Blue backlighting. There is a three-step ECO indicator too, and all of these could have fit into the new display easily. Below this new display, the same old square-ish positive LCD screen remains as is. Reminds me of TVS Ntorq XT’s tacky execution. This square screen shows time, odometer, and fuel level along with distance to empty, average mileage and real-time fuel efficiency. Again, all of these could have easily fit in the new blue-backlit display that MY2023 Honda Dio is packing. To make this instrument area a lot cleaner. Chrome highlights are evident on the headlamp casing, clutch and front brake levers and engine casing. The exhaust pipe is entirely done in chrome. GB350 has brown seat for all colour variants. Honda Activa Records 3 Crore Sales Milestone In 22 Years

Honda Activa Reached 3 Crore Sales MarkHonda Activa touched the 3 Crore units sales milestone and is by far the only scooter in India to achieve this featIndia is one of the largest 2W markets on earth. Scooter sales are not as much as budget commuter motorcycles. Still, Honda has had a strong grip in this space. With its Activa line of 110cc and 125cc scooters, Honda has completely captivated the Indian scooter market in its 22 year long run.Sales for the Activa brand have now crossed a total of a whopping 3 crore units. Activa has had unprecedented popularity and is kind of a default scooter for many buyers in India. Sales numbers reflect that phenomenon perfectly. Also demonstrates just how popular Honda scooters are and how ahead they are from their respective rivals.Honda Activa 3 crore sales milestoneEver since the first Activa hit the road in India in 2001, it has been a popular choice. 2W sales now are significantly greater than what they used to be in the 2000s and early 2010s. That said, it is commendable for Honda Activa as the first Crore units milestone was achieved in 15 years since its debut in 2015.The next two Crore units, among three Crore units achieved recently, came up in just half the time Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) took to hit its first Crore units mark. In half the time taken to reach the 1 Crore units mark, Honda sold twice as many scooters.Honda Activa sales journey in IndiaThis should perfectly show the magnitude of HMSI’s scooter operations in India. Expressing gratitude on achieving this historic milestone, Mr. Tsutsumu Otani – President, CEO & Managing Director, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India said, “We are extremely proud of the Honda Activa’s incredible journey. Achieving the 3-crore customer milestone in just 22 years is a testimony to the unwavering support and trust that our customers have placed in us. HMSI remains committed to deliver exceptional value to our consumers.”Mr. Yogesh Mathur, Director, Sales & Marketing, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India said, “This milestone reaffirms our dedication to drive scooter revolution and thank the 3 crore Indian families for their trust in brand Activa and HMSI. Activa has changed many Avatars since inception continuously upgrading as per changing Customer need. As we strive to meet the evolving customer demand, we will continue to raise the bar and introduce groundbreaking technologies and provide an unmatched ownership experience.”History of India’s highest-selling motorcycleThe first gen Honda Activa hit the Indian market in 2001 and then its preceding model arrived in 2008 with a bigger 110cc engine. Activa 3G arrived in 2014 and so did the first Activa 125. This was the first time Honda had launched a 125cc Activa. LED headlights and DRLs were first on offer with Activa 5G in 2017.Activa 6G came in 2019 to celebrate the 10th year and then it got the BS6 transition and featured a silent starter among others. Now, Honda has dropped the 6G suffix and calls it 2023 Activa. Honda’s first electric scooter is likely to take the Activa name as well. More
