Electric SUV Breaks Down 10 Hours After Delivery – Owner Demands New Car

Tata Nexon EV breaks down on delivery dayAlthough such cases are rare, the one at the receiving end is bound to experience a lot of anger and frustrationWhen things don’t work out as expected after taking delivery of a car, the trust that one has in the brand is deeply shaken. A Tata Nexon EV owner in Ahmedabad had to go through a similar experience recently. As the matter has not been resolved as per the expectations of the owner, he has shared his experience on his Twitter handle. Hopefully, all stakeholders should be able to come to an agreeable solution in the coming days.Nexon EV breaks down after deliveryAccording to the owner, he had taken delivery of Tata Nexon EV from Progressive Cars in Ahmedabad on July 14, 2023. The owner has mentioned the time of delivery at 1:30 PM. After taking delivery, the owner drove the car for around 15 to 20 km. At around 11 PM on the same day of delivery, the vehicle experienced a breakdown. The owner has posted an image of the car’s instrument console, which shows a ‘Critical Alert’ notification. The message also asks the user to contact the service centre.Tata Nexon EV breaks down on delivery dayThis sudden breakdown was surprising, as the battery indicator was still showing an available range of 201 km. The notification did not provide any more details. As there was nothing the owner could do to fix the issue, the car had to be towed to the car dealer workshop. The next day, the dealer informed them that they had identified and fixed the issue. The problem was with the PSA, which had to be replaced.Owner demanding new car or full refundAlthough the problem has been fixed, the owner does not want to keep the car anymore. He has stated that he does not want to drive a car that developed problems in just 10-11 hours after taking delivery. For the owner, it is more of a psychological issue than anything else. It happens when one’s expectations are shattered.Tata Nexon EV breaks down on delivery dayThe Tata dealership had tried to assure the owner that there is no longer any issue with the car. They even offered extra perks and benefits and requested the owner to take delivery. But the owner has refused such offers and insists on a new car or full refund. As of now, the car is parked at the dealership and waiting for the owner to take delivery. It appears to be a stalemate, even after more than 20 days of the breakdown incident. Tata Nexon EV comes with 8 years / 1.6 lakh km of battery and motor warranty. This is good enough to ensure complete peace of mind for users. It remains to be seen how things work out in this case. It will be tough for the dealership to provide a new car or issue a refund, as the delivered car will then instantly become a second-hand car. Users can probably look at the bigger picture and ignore small issues and obstacles that may come along the way. More

Tata Electric Double Decker Bus Patent – India

Tata electric double decker busSwitch already supplies double-decker electric buses for BrihanMumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) – Now Tata Motors Joins the Electric Bus RaceDouble decker buses have proved to be one of the smartest mobility solutions as they take almost twice the passengers that their single-deck counterparts can seat. In a number of cases our single-deck buses are already hauling almost twice the passengers as compared to their official seating capacity. There is a novelty factor in a double-decker bus and will prove to be quite an attraction as well. Tata Motors, India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer is betting on this genre too and has patented its design in India. Let’s take a look.Double Decker: The New Face of Urban MobilityWe recently saw Switch EiV22 electric double-decker bus that BrihanMumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) procured. The name is Switch EiV22 and it pays tribute to iconic red double-decker ICE buses of Mumbai. For India, Switch didn’t just import an electric double-decker bus from UK and call it a day.Instead, Switch transformed a 9m single-deck bus into a double-decker with extensive re-engineering of chassis, suspension and body. It is highly likely that Tata Motors will take a similar approach with its first double-decker electric bus.Tata electric double decker bus patent detailsTo have a baseline, Tata Motors already has multiple 9m and 12m electric buses in its Indian lineup. These buses are available within Ultra, Urban and Starbus range of Tata Buses. These lineups further have AC and non AC variants along with low floor options. Tata offers both 400mm low floor height variants and 900mm floor height variants as well.A couple of years ago, Tata made headlines suggesting development of quad axle buses for ultimate comfort. But the patent image shows only two axles. The patent image doesn’t look like a 12m bus. So, a 9m length bus with a double-decker layout is highly likely. The colour is red, which is a nice touch. What to Expect: Double the Space, Smart Design, Smarter CommuteA wheelbase of 4,920mm, a floor height of 900 mm, and overall width of 2,340mm is highly possible. Switch EiV22 is a 9m bus with 900mm floor height as well. So, this is likely to be a sweet spot for India and what Indian bus manufacturers seem to be aiming at. Powertrain options will probably be similar to Tata Ultra electric buses too. We’re talking about 245 kW peak power (329 bhp) and 145 kW (194 bhp) continuous power along with 3000 Nm peak torque and 1145 Nm continuous torque from its motor/generator. A large 124 kWh battery with 150 km of range and 75 km/h top speed like its Ultra 9m electric bus is probable.Tata’s 12m Starbus lineup offers 250 kWh battery with 200 km of range. Tata Electric double decker bus batteries will be scalable and Tata will offer bespoke solutions depending on orders. Export potential is high too. More

Raptee Electric Bike Design Patent – Ultrviolette F77 Rival

Raptee electric bikeIn terms of performance numbers and overall expected product, Raptee electric bike will target Ultraviolette F772W EV space has seen growth in recent years. Most of this growth is in the electric scooter space. Electric motorcycles have seen fewer entrants. Raptee Electric Motorcycles intend to change that with a new offering. The brand first made its appearance at 2020 Auto Expo.Later on, we saw Raptee’s first set of prototypes trundling on the roads. Raptee’s design patent reveals what the motorcycle will look like in production-spec guise. At first sight, Ultraviolette F77 is its main intended rival. Let’s take a look.A Fusion of Styles: Street-Naked, Sportsbike Appeal – Raptee Electric Bike design patentRaptee design patent reveals a mix of a street naked and a sports machine. Akin to Ultraviolette F77. The headlight is that of a street naked motorcycle, while lower body features a fairing like a sportsbike. For the first time, Raptee electric bike headlight can be seen.It features an interesting LED DRL signature that has horizontal elements. Said fairing will get sleek LED turn indicators and by the looks of it, they double up as DRLs. Conventional LED turn indicators are visible at their conventional spots. Fairing is muscular, yet angular in design, and screams a lot of aggression.Raptee electric bike design patentFront fairing is open and this is where the radiator will sit for optimum battery cooling. Instrument screen will double up as a faux fly screen. There are no clip-on handlebars and ORVMs are run of the mill. There are split seats, and split grab rails. Prototypes were seen with chain drive and custom aluminium swingarms.Production version might retain them. The concept, and patent feature USD telescopic front forks, while first set of prototypes had RSU front forks. Single disc setup is present at both ends.Performance on Point: Accelerating 0-60 km/h in Under 3.5 Seconds – What will it pack?Electric motorcycle space is still young, unlike electric scooter space. At the entry level end, we have Pure EV ecoDryft, Odysse Vader and the likes. At mid level, we have Tork Kratos, Matter Aera, HOP OXO and the upcoming Oben Rorr. But there is a premium upper tier electric motorcycle segment where Ultraviolette F77 is currently moving along as a sole offering. This is the party that Raptee will crash, accompanied by Magron Novus. Raptee electric bike features a battery large enough to cover 150 km of real world range. Top speed is 135 km/h and acceleration figures include 0 – 60 km/h in under 3.5 seconds. 0 – 80% charge comes in to 85% (promised) with a CCS2 charging socket. All of these numbers point towards Ultraviolette F77. We hope Raptee tackle Ultraviolette in terms of pricing. As of now, F77 costs between Rs. 3.8 lakh and 5.5 lakh (ex-sh). More

Made in India Tesla electric car could be priced from Rs 20 lakh

Tesla India Factory could soon be realityAfter failed negotiations from last year, new report reveals that Tesla India factory could soon be a realityTesla is in talks with the Indian Government to set up a manufacturing facility here. A recent report mentions that Tesla is highly likely to set up a plant here instead of just importing vehicles for sale.Last year, Tesla intended to get special incentives in import taxes from the Indian Government. This was to import Tesla cars to India from abroad, most likely from their nearest manufacturing plant in China.Tesla India Factory – Could be a reality soon! Now Tesla not only intends to manufacture vehicles in India, but to make its Indian plant a global export hub. The narrative from last year and now, seems to be the result of a high-level meeting between Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the USA, last month. After this meet, Elon Musk expressed that Narendra Modi is pushing the company to invest heavily in India. He clarified that Tesla intends to invest in India and was figuring out the timing. He assured that Tesla would be operational in India as soon as humanly possible.Because Tesla’s newest plans are aligned with the “Make In India” initiative, we could see “Made In India” Tesla vehicles exported to multiple markets. Reports mention a potential production capacity of 5 lakh units per annum with starting prices from as low as Rs. 20 lakh (probably ex-sh).What to expect? If we look at Tesla’s current portfolio, which include Model S, 3, X and Y, there are no vehicles at the Rs. 20 lakh price point. Their most affordable currently, is Model 3 which starts from USD 40,240 which roughly translates to INR 33 lakh with today’s conversion rates. Tesla is working on launching a smaller electric car, which will sit below the Model 3.It is likely that India will get this car. So, if the Rs. 20 lakh price point turns out to be a reality, we could be looking at an India-specific vehicle that will be the company’s most affordable. This could be a new milestone for Tesla and could benefit the brand in other ASEAN countries too. To get its maiden vehicle at this price point, Tesla could heavily invest in local battery manufacturing as well.India’s charging infra could see a huge boost if Tesla intends to invest in its Supercharger network too. All in all, India is climbing up the ranks and becoming a global automotive hub.Source More
