      BMW G310 GS, G310 R BS6 Launched – Now Cheaper Than KTM Duke 390, ADV

      India becomes the first country in the world where the updated BMW G310 GS and G310 R motorcycles have been launched

      New BMW G310 R is priced from Rs 2.45 lakhs and the G310 GS is priced from Rs 2.85 lakhs. This effectively makes them cheaper than rivals KTM Duke 390 KTM 390 ADV in India. All prices are ex-sh.
      Updated G310 GS complies with BS6 norms as well as Euro 5 emission standards. In the Indian market, we have the updated BS6 version of the G310 R naked streetfighter. While 310 GS will take on rivals such as KTM Adventure 390 and Royal Enfield Himalayan, the 310 R will go up against KTM 390 Duke. Below is the official TVC video.

      New G310 GS and G310 R – Key updates
      New G310 GS and G310 R are better looking than their predecessors and pack in a range of additional features. Among the key updates is an all-LED setup, comprising full-LED headlight, LED flashing turn indicators and LED DRL. The motorcycles also utilize a multi-colour concept, which has been a signature feature of BMW GS family. The MotoGP inspired colour theme comprises various colours such as metallic titanium grey, polar white, red and Kyanit blue metallic.
      A number of features have been borrowed from large BMW R 1250 GS models, for example, the aggressive front fascia, signature windscreen, and a short tail. In terms of functionality, new G310 GS has been equipped with adjustable clutch level and handbrake lever. There are four adjustment levels, which can be customized as per the hand size of the user.

      New G310 GS and G310 R engine
      The 313 cc liquid cooled, single cylinder engine has been retained, but it now complies with updated emission norms. The engine is capable of generating 34 hp of max power at 9500 rpm and 28 Nm of max torque at 7500 rpm. Transmission is a 6-speed gearbox. Top speed is rated at 143 kmph. Accelerating from 0 to 100 kmph takes 7.17 seconds.
      2020 BMW G310R and G310GS Colours
      Even though the engine is the same as earlier, it has been equipped with new features such as electronic throttle grip. This will improve throttle response and avoid engine stall at low speeds. Another addition is the self-boosting anti-hopping clutch, which improves safety and rider comfort during fast deceleration.
      As may be recalled, these entry-level motorcycles were launched to make the BMW brand name accessible to a wider audience. These have also effectively fulfilled the wish list of many auto enthusiasts with limited budgets, who had wanted to experience track-focused machines.       2021 BMW G310 GS Officially Revealed – Production Starts

      Launch of the updated BMW G310R and G310GS is scheduled to take place on 8th Oct
      BMW G310 GS, first launched in 2016 gives BMW Motorrad customers an opportunity to experience a sub 500cc motorcycle. Compact, robust and versatile in design, four years since debut, the company is now ready to launch its new 2021 BMW G310 GS.

      First unit of the all new, facelifted G310GS rolled off the production line earlier today. BMW G310GS is manufactured in India, by TVS Motor Company at their plant in Hosur. Overall design has been kept similar to the earlier variant.
      The design revision is replete with a basic colour, and two exclusive style variants. All three colour variants feature metallic titanium grey engine housing covers for the alternator, clutch and water pump. Typical GS colours in white with basic colour plain polar white, and tank side panels in grey, make for a sporty Rallye style appearance. The frame is painted in red, and Kyanit blue metallic for the tank centre cover and front.
      2021 BMW G310GS Production Starts
      Engine
      Engine is same as before. BMW G310 GS features a 313 cc, liquid-cooled single-cyl engine with four valves, two overhead camshafts and electronic fuel injection (FI). Power output is pegged at 25 kW (34 HP) at 9500 rpm, and a maximum torque of 28 Nm at 7500 rpm. Engine is now equipped with an ‘electronic throttle grip‘ (electromotive throttle controller) for improved throttle response. Automatic idle speed increases when starting to prevent any possible sudden engine stalling.
      The cylinder head is rotated by 180 degrees with front intake, and exhaust at the rear for optimal combustion air ducting. The structure supports the motorcycle’s compact vehicle architecture. For international markets, the new BMW G310 GS is now homologated to EU5 standards. While the one in India, which will be launched next week, will be homologated to BS6 standard. The engine also features automatic idle boost and electromotive throttle controller.

      Features
      New BMW G 310 GS’ stance is cemented with a windscreen, high front fender, striking flyline and short, and high rear end. Features that are seen in the bigger GS models. Self-boosting anti-hopping clutch is new. It reduces engine drag torque and improves driving safety, especially when braking involving simultaneous downshifting.
      Significant reduction in operating forces at the clutch lever is also factored in. Hand lever is adjustable in four stages for brake and clutch for both. Largely beneficial for folks with small hands.

      LED Headlights
      Lighting structure includes full-LED headlight and LED flashing turn indicators. The latter for improved night visibility. High beam, low beam and, daytime driving light (depending on the country), is operated from left handlebar controls.
      40 Years GS Edition
      There is a new special edition of 2021 BMW G310GS, called 40 Years GS Edition. While it’s not known, which markets will see the ’40 Years GS’ edition, but there will be a BMW G 310 GS based on R 100 GS’ colour theme in black and yellow. This will have the basic colour cosmic black, and yellow graphics on the tank side panels.

      Pricing has not been revealed yet. For India, official launch will take place on 8th Oct, which is when the prices will also be revealed. Along with the GS, we will also get the new G310R.       After weeks of teasing, BMW India has finally revealed the launch date of their best selling motorcycles
      BMW Motorrad will be launching BS6 variants of its entry-level G 310 R & G 310 GS motorcycles in India on 8th Oct. Launch was expected to take place much earlier, but got delayed due to lockdown. Bookings opened earlier this month.
      What’s new in BMW G 310 BS6 variants?

      Some of the key updates on G 310 twins include sharper and muscular design, full-LED headlamp and turn signals, orange frame and alloys, updated instrument console, golden front suspension, reconfigured exhaust pipe and horizontal rear fenders. Some of these design elements appear to be inspired by features commonly seen on KTM motorcycles.
      Powering the BS6 G 310 twins could be the same BS6 engine that is currently in use with TVS Apache RR 310. It’s a 313cc, single cylinder, liquid cooled, DOC unit that can generate max power of 33.53 bhp at 9,700 rpm and max torque of 27.3 Nm at 7,700 rpm.

      Competitive pricing strategy
      While the BMW brand name commands a premium, the company could employ a more practical pricing policy this time around, especially for the entry-level G 310 R & G 310 GS BS6 motorcycles. To make the G 310 twins attractive to a wider consumer base, BMW is expected to choose a competitive pricing policy. BS6 variants will be priced higher than the BS4 models, but the price gap with rivals will be reduced.
      For example, if we talk about the G 310 R naked streetfighter, its BS4 model had a price tag of Rs 2.99 lakh. In comparison, the bike’s primary rival KTM 390 Duke BS6 retails at Rs 2.57 lakh (ex-showroom). Coming to the G 310 GS adventure tourer, its BS4 model was priced at Rs 3.49 lakh. Its primary rival KTM Adventure 390 BS6 is priced at Rs 3.04 lakh. G 310 GS also competes with Royal Enfield Himalayan that has a starting price of Rs 1.94 lakh.
      BMW G310 R Facelift BS6
      BMW could choose a midway pricing point for the G 310 twins, which is somewhere between the price of the outgoing BS4 models and price of existing rivals. This will make the bikes more accessible to customers who want to go with the BMW nameplate.
      Pre-Bookings for BMW G 310 R & G 310 GS BS6 variants are open for Rs 50k. It can be done online or one can also visit the nearest BMW Motorrad dealership. Customers who opt for the pre-book option can benefit from a special EMI scheme wherein monthly EMI amount is just Rs 4.5k.       BMW M 1000 RR Debuts As A Track Focused Road Legal Motorcycle

      Just like its performance car segment, BMW now gets a separate performance segment for its motorbikes which the same prefix ‘M’
      When it comes to automotive, nothing beats German technology and engineering. That’s why German automotive revered so highly across the world. BMW is one such manufacturer whose quality of products has always been vouched for, not only for cars but also when it comes to motorcycles.

      BMW bikes have been known for impressive performances, the S 1000 RR is a testimony to that. However, it seems the Bavarian automaker isn’t satisfied and wants to reach a different level altogether when it comes to performance-oriented bikes. Hence, BMW Motorrad has now introduced the first of its M range of bikes.
      Dubbed as M 1000 RR, it is the first true track-focused superbike from the German brand. BMW claims that the genes of M 1000 RR have been directly inherited from professional racing. For reference, BMW Motorrad has been offering optional M performance parts and fittings for its bikes since 2018, but now the brand has decided to launch a completely new high-end performance range.

      Design
      Design-wise it looks quite similar to its S range sibling although it does come with its fair share of distinguishing elements. For starters, the addition of M specific winglets made of clear-coat carbon for better aerodynamic forces. These units have been designed in BMW’s wind tunnels in order to provide downforce at higher speeds. The effects of the winglets can be felt while taking those sharp curves ensuring better cornering stability.
      The front wheel has been provided additional load to counteract wheelie. The bike is built on an aluminium bridge frame which is assisted by an updated upside-down fork at front and as a revised central spring strut with blue spring and Full Floater Pro kinematics. According to the company, these changes will help improve drivability and braking as well as anti-squat control.

      In addition to this, the company is also offering an M Competition package that comprises M milled parts package, M GPS lap trigger software, M carbon package, a 220g lighter swingarm, a passenger package including tail-hump cover and a whole lot more.
      Features on offer
      Out of the long exhaustive equipment list, it gets a 6.5-inch TFT instrument cluster which has been borrowed from S1000 RR. However, this unit has been slightly tweaked to get additional readings such as M GPS data logger and M GPS lap trigger. Other notable functionalities include DTC (dynamic traction control), hill start assist, launch control and five riding modes- Road, Rain, Dynamic, Race and Race Pro1-3.

      Performance
      Shifting our focus to its most crucial aspect- performance, it gets an inline four-cylinder 999cc motor which puts out nearly 210 horses of power at 14500 rpm and 113 Nm of peak torque at 11000 rpm. The bike can be redlined past the 15000 rpm mark and produces 5 bhp more than S 1000 RR. This is due to the lighter engine block, titanium connecting rods, titanium valves and modified combustion chamber incorporated in this engine.
      The M 1000 RR weighs just 192 kg thus stressing on the theme of ‘more power, less weight’. There has been no official word on pricing. Upon its launch, it is likely to lock its horns with the Ducati Panigale V4. More

      BMW G310R and G310GS Facelift BS6 Launch in 1st week of Oct

      Customers can also save money, as BMW is expected to launch the BS6 G310 twins at discounted prices. This will be something new in the auto industry, as BS6 variants are usually priced higher than their BS4 counterparts. The reason seems obvious as rival motorcycles are priced much cheaper than the G310 twins.
      Exterior updates

      As revealed in teasers and spy shots, BMW G310 twins get full-LED headlamp and turn signals. It is also likely that BMW will introduce some new colour options for these bikes. Both bikes come with sharper and muscular contours, as compared to the BS4 counterparts.
      On G310R, the tank has been redesigned. Another noticeable feature of the twins is the use of bright orange colour on the frame and alloys. Rear fenders now come in a horizontal design, which appears to be inspired by KTM motorcycles. Other additions include gold coloured front suspension, updated instrument console and reconfigured exhaust pipe.

      BMW G310 twins BS6 engine
      BS6 G310 twins are expected to get the same engine as that of BS6 TVS Apache RR 310. The 312.2 cc liquid cooled, DOHC, single cylinder engine generates 33.53 bhp of max power at 9,700 rpm and 27.3 Nm of max torque at 7,700 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed transmission. BS6 Apache RR310 has a top speed of 160 km/h and can reach 0-100 in 7.17 seconds. BS6 G310 twins are expected to be offered in a similar state of tune.
      Pre bookings for BMW G310R and G310 GS BS6 are open for Rs 50k. To attract customers, BMW has introduced a new EMI plan where EMIs will start at just Rs 4.5k. To avail this special EMI offer, customers need to book the G 310 R or G 310 GS before their launch.
      In this segment, the G310R naked streetfighter will take on the likes of KTM 390 Duke. On the other hand, the G 310 GS adventure tourer will compete with the likes of KTM Adventure 390 and Royal Enfield Himalayan.
      BMW G310 twins BS6 price
      Price of BS6 G 310 twins will be announced at the time of launch. For record, the BS4 G310R was priced at Rs 2.99 lakh whereas BS4 310GS retailed at Rs 3.49 lakh.       BMW R18 Cruiser Motorcycle India Launch Price Rs 18.9 Lakh

      BMW R18 takes its inspiration from the design of the 1965 model R5 and is the first traditional cruiser from the German brand in India
      BMW Motorrad India has launched their flagship cruiser motorcycle in India today. The Heritage-Series bike is BMW’s answer to motorcycles in the cruiser segment from Indian Motorcycles and Harley Davidson. It will also take on the likes of Ducati Diavel 1260 and the recently introduced Triumph Rocket 3 GT.

      This is the first attempt by BMW to bring a traditional cruiser bike to India. Price of standard edition is Rs 18.9 lakhs and that of First Edition is Rs 21.9 lakhs, ex-sh. Mr. Vikram Pawah, President, BMW Group India said, “The all-new BMW R 18 is BMW Motorrad’s much-anticipated entry into the cruiser segment. Fans and motorcycling enthusiasts in India have been eagerly waiting for this day.”
      Design
      BMW R18 draws its design inspiration from the 1965 R5 model with cues taken from the traditional swingarm, fuel tank, the exposed shaft-drive and exhaust pipes. Overall, its design resembles that of a conventional old-school bobber that sits on a double-cradle steel frame. The frame also covers the beautifully sculpted engine which highlights the impressive presence of the bike.
      BMW R18 – Standard vs First Edition
      Its retro look gets further accentuated by a round headlamp, wide handlebars, an exhaust pipe finished in chrome and spoked wheels. BMW will be offering two variants of the R18- a standard completely blacked-out version and a First Edition with more white pinstripes and chrome. The First Edition will also feature further distinguishing elements such as a seat badge with a ‘First Edition’ clasp, a copper-lettered logo on the tank and a Blackstorm metallic paint job.
      Powertrain
      As far as performance is concerned, the R18 is powered by the largest twin-cylinder boxer motor of 1802cc displacement. This engine is capable of generating 91 bhp of power at 4,750rpm and 158Nm of peak torque at 3,000rpm. This unit is mated to a six-speed gearbox with a shaft drive setup.

      Features
      In terms of features, the upcoming cruiser gets an all-LED Lighting setup, an analog instrument cluster, heated grips and an optional reverse gear. The safety equipment consists of ABS, traction control, hill-hold assist and switchable Automatic Stability Control (ASC). The ACS is complemented by MSR which prevents the rear wheel slip in case of aggressive downshifting and acceleration. Additionally, it gets three driving modes- Rain, Roll and Rock.
      Dynamics
      Suspension duties on the motorcycle is carried out by telescopic forks at front and a mono-shock unit at rear. Meanwhile, anchoring duties are carried out by dual discs of 300mm dia and single disc of 300mm dia at rear. The stand on 120/70 R 19 wheels at front and 180/65 B16 at rear.

      New BMW G310 R and GS gets attractive EMI plans from Rs 4,500

      BMW India is getting ready to launch the updated G 310 R and G 310 GS with BS6 engine
      While BS6 mandates were dated for April 1, 2020, owing to Covid-19 pandemic related lockdown, BS6 launch plans for the period were revised. As such, as business operations have flourished, manufacturers have taken the opportunity to introduce BS6 compliant products that had been delayed.

      New BMW G 310 R and GS will soon be launched in India. Pre-bookings are now open. Ahead of launch, BMW India today announced attractive EMI offer for those who plan to buy the upcoming 310s. As per this, if you pre-book either of the two bikes, 310R or 310GS ahead of launch, you will be able to get the attractive EMI plan which starts from Rs 4,500.
      The EMI plan is curated under calculation for a loan under the BMW Bullet Plan. One can get a loan pre-approved before launch at a BMW Motorrad India dealership or online. Ex-showroom prices of the new motorcycles will be announced at launch. BMW India Financial Services has designed customized and flexible financial solutions. Pre-bookings were announced from the start of September 2020.

      BS6 G310
      New BMW G 310 R and BMW G 310 GS bikes are now but obviously BS6 compliant. They feature a 313 cc, single-cyl, liquid-cooled engine. Output figures are expected to remain close to what was available previously, i.e., 34 PS/28 Nm. The 6-speed transmission unit is continued.
      At the time sales of the BS4 units were stopped, the bikes were available at a price of Rs 2.99 lakh, and Rs 3.49 lakh, respectively. A price revision is expected for the BS6 launch. Unconfirmed reports suggest that the BS6 prices will be lower than the BS4 prices.
      BS6 BMW G 310 R Teaser
      The bikes haven’t yet been spotted undisguised, teaser images point to noticeable inclusions. BMW is going with the colour orange on alloys and frame. A horizontal rear fender is KTM inspired. Test vehicles pointed to a gold coloured front suspension setup.
      With sharper design focus, changes will be seen in a newly designed headlamp unit with integrated LED DRLs, and renewed digital instrument console as well. The exhaust pipe has been worked upon.
      For BMW Motorrad, the 310 twins are its smallest displacement bikes. In India, they are the highest volume booster for the brand’s bike unit.       Chinese motorcycle Moto S450RR is a copy Of BMW S1000RR

      Although the bike has a different powerplant, its aesthetics and design seem to be completely ripped off from BMW S1000RR
      Chinese automotive manufacturers have been guilty of plagiarism in the past as far as design is concerned. With many violations and facing various lawsuits across the globe, it looks like they haven’t learned their lesson and wish to continue with the same trend.
      Similar design but different powertrain

      In what seems to be a blatant copy of one of the most popular litre-class sportbike, Chinese auto company Moto has recently revealed its sub-500cc fully-faired motorcycle- S450RR. The new bike seems to be a near replica of the iconic BMW S1000R. With a similar design of the fairing, headlight cluster, colour scheme, body graphics and even the logo sported similar to the German manufacturer, it seems as if the designing team of Moto was running short of visions.
      Surprising part though is that the makers aren’t even trying to conceal the fact that it’s a copy. As with most Chinese automotive brands, there is not much information available about the Moto S450RR. However, we can share whatever little we know. The 2020 Moto S450RR is powered by a 450cc, fuel-injected, parallel-twin engine that exhibits around 24 bhp at 6,500 rpm and 22 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm.

      Dynamics and Features
      Hardware of the bike consists of an upside down USD front fork and a mono-shock suspension at the rear. Anchoring duties are carried out by dual discs at front wheels and a single disc at rear wheels complemented by dual-channel ABS.
      In terms of features, it gets a TFT instrument panel, LED headlamps and tail lamps, clip-on handlebars and a stepped-up seat. The carbon fibre laced sport exhaust pipe also reminds us of the S1000RR. The integrated rearview mirrors, however, look more inspired by Yamaha R1.
      Price

      However, the big difference between the Chinese copycat and the German motorcycle is the price tag. The Moto S450RR has been priced at 50 million Vietnamese Dong which roughly translates to INR 1.60 lakh. This is way cheaper than the nearly INR 20 lakh S1000RR. Even a replica of one of the most iconic sports bike at this price is sure to find buyers. However, it will not be long till BMW Motorrad takes notice of this bike and plans some action against the makers.
      BMW G 310 Twins
      In other news, BMW is gearing up for the launch of the updated G 310 twins– G 310 R and G 310 GS in India. The bike duo serves as the entry-level motorcycles for BMW Motorrad worldwide and is manufactured locally in TVS Motors facility in Hosur. Apart from the mandatory BS6 emission updates, there will also be some cosmetic changes as well.
