      Hero MotoCorp Model Wise Sales Feb 2021- Splendor, Passion, Destini, Maestro

      The two-wheeler segment in India continues to find many takers despite a brief lull caused due to the Covid-19 pandemic. With a revival of demand, sales of two-wheelers have increased as well. Hero MotoCorp, as we all know, leads this segment in India by a fair margin.
      Domestic Sales- Splendor, HF Deluxe Lead
      The company sold as many as 4,84,405 two-wheelers in February 2021 which is slightly more than what it sold during the same period in 2020. In February last year, the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer sold 4,80,849 units. Thus it recorded an overall growth of 0.74 percent in the domestic market.
      Hero’s entry-level motorcycle Splendor continued to lead the charts with a sales figure of 2,47,422 units last month against last year’s 2,15,196 units. Thereby, it registered YoY growth of 14.98 percent. It was followed by another entry-level bike from Hero- the HF Deluxe which raked in 1,26,309 units last month as opposed to 1,75,997 units sold in February last year. This resulted in a YoY decline in sales by 28.23 percent.
      The brand sold 34,417 units of Passion Pro last month which is slightly lesser than the previous year’s 34,797 units. This translates to YoY degrowth of 1.09 percent. Glamor registered a decline in sales by 23.43 percent as it registered sales of 27,375 last month which is 8,377 units less than what Hero sold during the same period last year.

      Scooters Post Strong Numbers
      The manufacturer’s scooters Pleasure (23,106 units), Destini (12,031 units) and Maestro (5,899 units) occupied the fifth, sixth and seven spots respectively. All three scooters registered sizable YoY growths of 173.93 percent, 64.72 percent and 180.64 percent respectively.
      Hero’s latest addition to its armoury- Xtreme 160R, took the fourth spot with sales of 4,985 units. The previous iteration of the sporty commuter motorcycle recorded sales of 605 units in February 2020, thus resulting in YoY growth of 723.97 percent. The company’s sole adventure tourer Xpulse 200 registered sales of 2,861 units.
      Export Numbers Grow
      Hero fared slightly better in exports in terms of YoY growth. In February this year, it shipped 21,034 units to overseas markets in comparison to last year’s 18,046 units. This resulted in a growth of 16.56 percent. Splendor recorded the highest exports of 6,631 units against last year’s 5,993 units during the same month. Therefore, it recorded a YoY growth of 12.71 percent.

      Xtreme 150 which was discontinued in India last year, continues to be shipped overseas. Last month it recorded sales of 3,229 units which translated to a massive YoY growth of 797 percent. HF Deluxe (2,444 units) registered YoY degrowth of 24.71 percent while Xpulse 200 recorded a healthy YoY growth of 168.97 percent.       SuperSoco Electric Scooter India Launch Plans – Bajaj Chetak Rival

      India’s electric two wheeler market is growing by leaps and bounds. The electric two wheeler market in FY2020 stood at around 1.52 lakh units and is likely to grow at a CAGR of around 25 percent during the period FY 2021-26. The segment is currently ruled by the likes of Hero Electric, Okinawa Autotech Pvt. Ltd, Ampere Vehicles, Ather, etc, and new comers are also making a bee line for this segment noting the demand prospects.
      One such new comer into the Indian electric vehicle segment is Perth based e-scooter maker Vmoto. The electric two wheeler manufacturer has signed an agreement with Bird Group for the distribution of SuperSoco CUmini and SuperSoco CUx.
      Vmoto is an Australian electric motorcycle maker that have a joint venture with SuperSoco of China to form a company called Vmoto Soco. Bird Group is the parent of Bird Automotive which is one of the leading premium car dealership outlet in India for BMW and MINI range.
      Bird Group to distribute CUX and CUmini range
      According to a study conducted by Bird Group, even as Vmoto have three electric two-wheelers, namely TS Street Hunter, TC Wanderer and CUmini in their lineup, the SuperSoco CUmini and SuperSoco CUx were ideally suited for the Indian markets.

      Bird Automotive also has exclusive distribution rights of Segway Personal Transporters. The company has over 500 corporate customers and a host of individual buyers along with a strong relationship with the Government of India. The company had showcased a SuperSoco electric scooter the 2020 Auto Expo where it was codenamed ES1+.
      Bird Group will initially bring in 20 units of the CUmini e-scooter for trials and these will be used under a government led ride sharing project in New Delhi. In its first year of operation, Vmoto targets orders of 10,000 units with total value at around AUD 13.8 million (Rs 77.5 crores).
      SuperSoco CUmini and CUx
      The SuperSoco CUmini is an entry level model and receives a minimal design. Soco CUx on the other hand is a light weight scooter designed for shorter distances. It rides on 12 inch wheels and gets colour options of red, black, gray and white.
      SuperSoco Electric Scooter
      The CUmini receives features such as LED tail lamp and rear turn signals, keyless start with remote and a monochrome LCD instrument cluster. The SuperSoco App allows riders to access the bike, gain vehicle status control and GPS location along with alarm status, movement history and navigation data.
      The CUmini is powered by a 0.6 kW electric motor along with a 0.96 kWh battery pack with NCM technology and a FOC 3.3 control unit. The battery pack is removable for easier charging and weighs a total of 7.2 kgs. Charging from 0 – 100 percent is accomplished in around 7 hours to offer a range of 60 – 70 kms while top speed is rated at 45 km/h. SuperSoco CUmini uses less than 1.6 kWh per 100 kms.

      2021 KTM RC 125 Side View Spied – Pillion Seat Higher Than R15 V3?

      KTM had commenced trial production of the next generation RC 200 at the end of last year. We expected the updated faired motorcycle to make its debut by the first quarter of this year. However, there are no signs of the motorcycle as of now.
      Although, on a couple of instances, the new RC 200 has been spotted testing on Indian roads in recent months which suggests that the motorcycle is still in its developmental phase. Another set of spy shots of the upcoming faired sports bike has emerged online where a test mule is seen conducting pre-launch tests.
      RC 200 Revised Styling
      Even though the prototype was wrapped under heavy camouflage, we could notice certain design aspects which had been taken over from RC 390. One thing is for sure, that the upcoming RC range will wear a completely different top hot compared to its predecessor.
      The biggest variation noticed is the single-piece headlamp as opposed to a twin-pod headlamp cluster. The halogen unit is flanked by a similar LED DRL strip on its borders. In addition, it also gets a taller windscreen and new LED turn indicators which are integrated onto the wing mirrors.

      The revised windscreen has been designed not only to provide better protection from the wind but also to enhance its aerodynamic properties. The new split seating setup is certainly not as attractive as the previous model but looks more convenient and hopefully more convenient.
      The spy shots indicate a more compliant riding position which includes handlebars fitted closer to the rider and center set footpegs that offer an upright riding stance. Other notable changes witnessed are redesigned 5-spoke alloy wheels finished in Electric Orange, slimmer fairing and proper split grab rails. Pillion seat has been raised significantly.
      New Features
      In addition to all the updates mentioned above, the upcoming RC 125 / 200 also gets a new underbelly exhaust setup and a new rear subframe. Previous spy pics also revealed that the bike will get new body graphics and decals that will accentuate its sporty appeal. The latest spy pics also reveal a new and larger TFT digital instrument console which is expected to feature smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth.

      RC 200 Updated Design
      Not only RC 200 but the Austrian bikemaker is looking to completely overhaul its entire RC lineup in India including RS 125 and RC 390. Latest spy shots of RC 390 also suggest a completely revamped design. The new generation faired sports bike also features a heavily redesigned front end with dual projector headlamps being replaced by a single headlamp unit. However, unlike its smaller sibling, it gets a full LED lighting setup.
      Like RC 200, front fairing of RC 390 also looks revised which gives it a sharper look and improved aerodynamic efficiency. The shape of the fuel tank has been altered too which also seems to have improved rider ergonomics. The split seat setup of RC 390 is uncannily similar to its smaller sibling although the pillion seat still looks very inaccessible for its height. RC 125, on the other hand, is likely to wear a similar look to RC 200 which would feature a compact fairing.

      Updated RC Lineup Powertrain
      As far as performance is concerned, all three motorcycles are expected to carry forward their respective powertrains. RC 125 will be powered by a 125cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine which pushes out 14.5 bhp and 12 Nm of peak torque. RC 200 will draw its power from a 199.5cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that pumps out 24.6 bhp and 19.2 Nm of torque.
      And finally, RC 390 would derive its energy from the same 373cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that churns out 44 bhp and 35 Nm of torque. While RC 125’s motor is likely to be paired with a 5-speed transmission, the other two are expected to be offered with a 6-speed gearbox. All three bikes will be built on a Trellis frame suspended on USD WP forks at front and a mono-shock unit at rear. More

      Royal Enfield Classic 350, 650 Twins Sales Decline Ahead Of New Launch

      Royal Enfield 650 Twins have registered consistent numbers every month. However, February 2021 seems to be an exception, as YoY domestic sales have declined by a staggering -86.35%. As compared to 2,080 units sold in February last year, sales are down to just 284 units in February 2021.
      650 Twins facelift launch soon
      The drop in sales in February is likely due to the upcoming launch of facelift editions of 650 twins. A similar phenomenon can also be seen in case of top selling Classic 350, wherein sales have declined by -13.75%. As compared to 41,766 units sold in February last year, sales are down to 36,025 units in February 2021. Next-gen Classic 350 is also expected to be launched soon.
      Of these, it is the 650 Twins which are expected to be launched first. This will be a minor facelift, which will come with new colour options, tubeless tyres, alloys, tripper navigation, etc. It is likely that the new 650 Twins are launched this month. Classic 350 new gen is expected to be launched next month, in April 2021.
      650 Twins facelift key updates
      Updates on 650 twins facelift versions will be largely cosmetic in nature. It could be something similar to the updates introduced with 2021 Himalayan that was launched earlier this year in February. As may be recalled, 2021 Himalayan has new colour options, some mild visual improvements, tan coloured seat, and Tripper navigation.

      Talking about 650 twins facelift, the motorcycles could get new colour options similar to the ones available in Italian market. Leaked images had revealed seven new colour options for Interceptor. Out of these, colour options of Baker Express, Glitter and Dust and Orange Crush are already available with the existing variant.
      For Continental GT, five colour options were revealed – GT Red, British Racing Team, Cookies and Cream, Venture Black and Blue and Mister Clean. The last one is already available with existing Continental GT.
      It is possible that Royal Enfield may introduce some minor visual updates for 650 twins. Some features may also be updated based on consumer feedback. In terms of functionality, 650 twins facelift versions are expected to be equipped with Tripper navigation system.
      Tripper navigation was first introduced with Meteor 350 and recently with updated Himalayan. It’s quite useful, as it does away with the need to use the smartphone screen to access turn-by-turn navigation. Tripper is expected to be standard equipment on most of the upcoming new / updated Royal Enfield motorcycles.
      650 Twins engine specs
      650 twins facelift will continue using the same engine as earlier. The 648cc air-cooled parallel-twin motor is capable of delivering 47 bhp of max power at 7150 rpm and 52 Nm of peak torque at 5250 rpm. This is mated to a 6-speed gearbox, integrated with slipper clutch.
      With the updates, one can expect a slight bump in prices of 650 twins facelift versions. Existing Interceptor 650 is available from Rs 2.54 lakh to Rs 2.91 lakh whereas Continental GT is priced in the range of Rs 2.69 lakh – Rs 3.07 lakh. More

      In case motorcycles aren’t your cup of tea because they feel too safe for you then the upcoming example will surely be of interest to you. Chinese conglomerate Alibaba is known to develop some weird and out-of-the-world vehicles that run on battery. Recently, they revealed an electric motorcycle that rolls on a single wheel.
      Sounds strange right when you think from the perspective of its dynamics. However, it seems to function properly without any hiccups. From the looks of it, this one-wheeled motorcycle seems a working equivalent of an electric unicycle with an un-functional equivalent of a small naked sports bike.

      Features & Specifications
      The body is built on a conventional Steel Trellis frame and also gets a faux fuel tank. The designer needs to be commended sheerly for his/her efforts. From a certain angle and distance, this bike also resembles a certain Ducati. However, all is not well, as things start to get tight and nervy when the rider decides to hop on board and cruise it on roads.
      The first notable mention is that this thing measures only 40 kg and hence, ride stability might not be its strongest suit. However, it does provide the rider with great agility. It receives 2 kW of power which offers a top speed of 30 mph (48 km/h).
      Alibaba one wheel electric motorcycle
      The batteries are located at a place where one would find a battery at a conventional electric motorcycle. The electric unicycle is powered by an electric motor paid with a 1.36 kWh of battery made by Panasonic.
      The manufacturer claims a single-charge range of around 60-100 km. The company says it takes around 3-12 hours for its battery to get fully juiced up. These figures for a bike of this definitely look very optimistic.
      Confusing Dynamics
      One might wonder as to how to operate it smoothly as balancing such a thing is no small task. We suspect that like in a segway, the rider needs to lean forward or backward and the vehicle self balances.

      However, the strangest aspect of this electric unicycle is that its handlebar gets a brake lever which makes us scratch our heads. If it is indeed a self-balancing vehicle and the motor always speeds up or slows down depending centre above it, then applying brakes would throw the rider towards the front.
      We would certainly like to learn more about this one-wheeled bike and its mechanisms in detail. It has been priced at USD 1,850 which is equivalent to INR 1.34 lakh. Mass-market commercialisation is still a far-off dream for such kind of mobility. At this price, a proper electric scooter or motorcycle would be our preferred choice. More

      Komaki Electric Vehicle Division, a unit of bearing and shaft manufacturer KLB Komaki Pvt. Ltd., has kick started 2021 on a busy note. Within the first three months, the company has launched two high-speed electric scooters (TN95 and SE) and an electric motorcycle (M5), expanded its dealership network in Kerala, and now is gearing up to introduce its fourth high-speed product. The new Komaki MX3 electric commuter motorcycle has been unveiled ahead of imminent price announcement.
      Komaki MX3
      The Komaki MX3, unlike the M5, is a full-sized commuter motorcycle with regular 17-inch wheels. While the styling could be described as conventional but there is an underlying quirkiness. With a long seat, alloy wheels, telescopic front suspension, twin rear shock absorbers, and a box section swingarm, the Komaki MX3 adopts the proven commuter motorcycle formula. It is available in three colour options – garnet red, jet black and deep blue.

      The battery is located in the place of a traditional IC engine and motor is a hub-mounted BLDC unit. Interestingly, the MX3 features a slightly larger rear disc brake rotor compared to the front one, and the company has revealed that the bike is equipped with regenerative braking as well.
      Equipment
      The Komaki MX3 electric motorcycle is equipped with LED headlamp, taillight and turn indicators. There is also a self diagnose and repair switch to enhance reliability, three speed modes which can be controlled by means of a switch, parking and reverse assist, fully digital colour LED instrument console, built-in Bluetooth speaker and so on.

      Specifications
      Komaki has not revealed the specifications of the powertrain but has announced that the MX3 will be equipped with a removable lithium-ion battery pack which is good enough for a range of 85-100 km. Charging the battery fully is estimated to consume 1 to 1.5 units of electricity.

      The specifications of the BLDC motor has not been revealed yet but we estimate it to be rated at 3 kW. Top-speed is expected to be around 70 – 80 kmph. Komaki has not officially revealed the motor specifications of its existing products that are already on sale. There is no information about the warranty either.
      Two wheeled EV market
      The two wheeled EV market in India has been steadily gathering post lockdown as more and more people are inclined towards cheap-to-run means of personal mobility. As of now, this space is mostly crowded by startups with minimal or zero experience in mobility sector.

      The critical components for the products are predominantly imported from China rather than being engineered and manufactured locally. The mainstream two wheeler OEMs seem to be still some time away from actively participating in this fast growing segment. More

      Chinese automotive manufacturers ripping off designs from prominent international models is very well known. Their choices of counterfeits are usually premium automotive brands such as BMW, Kawasaki and Ducati and not usually an Indian brand.
      However, it seems that one of the Chinese automakers has indeed ripped off a very popular Indian model. Hanway’s G30 adventure motorcycle looks like a perfect rip-off of our very own Royal Enfield Himalayan. We say ‘perfect’ because it hasn’t done a bad job in its styling nor the added features it has been provided.
      The Chinese bikemaker is offering G30 in two variants- standard and G30-X. The latter is equipped with wire-spoke wheels wrapped around by tubeless tyres, panniers and a TFT instrument console. Prices of the adventure tourer have been pegged at CNY 17,280, which roughly translates to INR 1.92 lakh making it cheaper than its original inspiration.
      G30 Mechanical Specs & Features
      Unlike Himalayan, G30 employs a 249.2cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that generates an output of 26 bhp at 9,000 and a peak torque of 22 Nm at 7500rpm. It claims a fuel efficiency figure of 32.2 kmpl while it can clock a maximum speed of 128 kmph.

      The engine, like in Himalayan, sits on a duplex split double-cradle chassis. This frame is suspended on 35mm USD forks at front with a 120mm travel and a mono-shock at rear with 42mm travel.
      G30 rolls on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear spoke wheels that are wrapped around by tubeless dual-purpose tyres. Such tyres are usually seen on more premium adventure tourers such as Kawasaki Versys 650 and Suzuki V-Strom 650 XT. Anchoring duties are handled by a 280mm front disc and a 240mm rear disc. Its saddle is accessible at 800mm which is identical to Himalayan while it offers a ground clearance of 185mm.
      As far as features are concerned, G30 gets a twin-pod LCD instrument console with a full TFT screen, LED headlights with DRL, a 5V 2A charging port, a 19-litre fuel tank and dual-channel ABS. Maybe, Royal Enfield could look to bring in these changes for Himalayan’s next update.

      Himalayan Specs
      The major difference between G30 and Himalayan is that the latter is powered by a 411cc, single-cylinder engine that produces 24.3 bhp at 6,500rpm and 32 Nm of peak torque at 4,500rpm. This motor is coupled with a 5-speed gearbox.
      It rolls on 21-inch and 17-inch front and rear wire-spoke wheels respectively. Its suspension setup consists of 41mm telescopic forks at front and a mono-shock at rear with a travel of 200mm and 180mm respectively. It also has a smaller fuel tank capacity of 14 litres. More

      Top 10 Scooter Sales Feb 2021 – Activa, Jupiter, Dio, Pleasure, Fascino

      As may be recalled, the top ten scooters had registered YoY growth of 5.26% in January 2021. In February, total sales of top ten scooters was 4,14,431 units. Sales during the corresponding period last year were 3,91,918 units.
      Activa leads, but growth slackens
      Honda Activa continues to be the most preferred scooter with 2,09,389 units sold in February 2021. However, YoY growth has turned negative at -6.09%, as compared to 2,22,961 units sold in February last year. Activa commanded a market share of 50.52% in February 2021. Activa leads by such a huge margin that even the total sales of remaining nine scooters does not equal Activa sales.
      At number two is TVS Jupiter with 52,189 units sold in February 2021. YoY sales have improved by an impressive 66%, as compared to 31,440 units sold in February last year. Jupiter’s market share in February was 12.59%. The scooter is currently the second bestselling product in TVS portfolio, next only to TVS XL moped.
      Suzuki Access comes third with 48,496 units sold in February 2021. YoY sales are down -3.21%, as compared to 50,103 units sold in February last year. Market share is at 11.70%. Access is currently the top selling two wheeler in Suzuki’s portfolio. It is ahead of other Suzuki two wheelers such as Burgman, Gixxer, and Intruder by a huge margin.

      Honda Dio is placed at fourth place with 28,171 units sold in February 2021. YoY sales have improved by a modest 6.33%, as compared to 26,494 units sold in February last year. Dio market share is at 6.80%. In the company’s portfolio, Dio is the third bestselling product, trailing behind Activa and CB Shine.
      At number five is Hero Pleasure with 23,106 units sold in February 2021. YoY sales have leaped by a whopping 173.93%, as compared to 8,435 units sold in February last year. Market share is at 5.58%. Pleasure is the top selling scooter in the company’s portfolio.
      TVS Pep+ registers max percentage growth
      In percentage terms, TVS Pep+ has max YoY growth at 1588.45%. It is placed at tenth spot in the list. Sales have zoomed from just 502 units in February last year to 8,476 units in February 2021. Pep+ market share is at 2.05%.

      Other scooters in top ten include Yamaha RayZR (13,812 units) at sixth place, followed by Hero Destini (12,031), Fascino (10,228) and Suzuki Burgman (8,533). All except Fascino have registered positive YoY growth in February 2021.
      Fascino sales have taken a big hit at -60.22%. Sales are down from 25,709 units in February last year to 10,228 units in February 2021. Destini sales are up 64.72%, as compared to 7,304 units sold in February last year. More
