Updated Hero Mavrick 440 Showcased At EICMA – New Features, Components

Updated Hero Mavrick 440Updated Hero Mavrick 440 will receive a price hike or it might be launched as a new top-spec variant while base price is retained
EICMA 2024 has proved to be a very busy event for Hero MotoCorp. The company showcased four new products on this global stage and showcased a bunch of other offerings. One of the important showcases has to be the updated Hero Mavrick 440 which gets improved features and componentry. Let’s take a look.
    Updated Hero Mavrick 440
At the prestigious stage of EICMA 2024, Hero MotoCorp unveiled a new version of its global electric scooter called Vida Z. Debuting the company’s first-ever 250cc engine, we saw Xtreme 250R street naked and Karizma XMR 250 supersport. Lastly, we also saw Hero showcasing the Xpusle 210 with a major design overhaul.
While these four new motorcycles stole all the limelight, the showcasing of the updated version of Hero Mavrick 440 took a backseat. However, the company’s efforts to radically overhaul its premium vehicle lineup are commendable. Hero is even investing heavily in premium Premia dealerships that will cater to pricier bikes.
Currently, Mavrick 440 is Hero’s biggest motorcycle yet. It is spawned by the 440 platform jointly developed between Hero MotoCorp and Harley-Davidson. Both these brands have benefited from this platform. Harley’s X440 is positioned as the more premium one and it had a few attributes to justify that tag.
    Updated Hero Mavrick 440
While Mavrick 440 was positioned below X440 in the hierarchy with slightly less flashy features and equipment. Now, Hero is changing that and has showcased a more kitted-out version of its Mavrick 440 with equipment in line with what is seen on Harley-Davidson X440.
    What are the new features?
Improving the perception of Mavrick 440, Hero has added a few premium elements that were only seen with pricier Harley X440. These are USD telescopic front forks finished in a lovely Gold shade and a more sophisticated TFT instrument cluster with advanced connectivity features like Bluetooth and navigation.
With the addition of USD front forks, Mavrick 440’s handling characteristics will go up too, just like its overall design quotient has. One should expect sharper handling and more steering feedback. With the addition of TFT colour instrument cluster, overall premium quotient has gone up.
    Upcoming Hero Mavrick 440
At the heart, updated Hero Mavrick 440 comes equipped with the same 440cc oil-cooled single-cylinder mill that generates 27 bhp and 36 Nm, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Interestingly, the weight has gone down by 2kg from 191 kg kerb weight to 189 kg. Launch timeline in India is not revealed yet.

Aprilia Tuono 457 Unveiled At EICMA 2024 – Based On RS 457, India Launch Likely

Aprilia Tuono 457 UnveiledJust like its supersport sibling, RS 457, Aprilia Tuono 457 production will happen in Piaggio’s Baramati facility in India
Piaggio Group has been busy showcasing new products at EICMA 2024. The company’s latest showcase is of stark relevance for Indian market. We’re talking about Aprilia Tuono 457, which is based on the company’s fully-faired supersport RS 457. It is likely to be unveiled at India Bike Week in December 2024 in Goa.
    Aprilia Tuono 457 Unveiled
After launching the RS 457, the recently unveiled Tuono 457 is the second motorcycle from the Italian marque based on this potent 457 platform. It is a street fighter version of RS 457, that will take on the likes of KTM 390 Duke, Yamaha MT-03 and Kawasaki Z400, among others.
    Aprilia Tuono 457 Unveiled
Aprilia showcased Tuono 457 at EICMA Show 2024, held in Milan, Italy. Up until now, there was only one version or body style from Aprilia based on this 457 platform. With Tuono 457, we get to see a street naked motorcycle based on the same RS 457 platform. Recently, an ADV version, Aprilia Tuareg 457, was also spied testing.
This suggests Aprilia is branching out and is carving more flavours of its new 457 platform. This strategy has worked wonders with KTM and the company now has 5 body styles based on its 390 platform – Duke, RC, Adventure, Enduro and SMC. Not only does this strategy make financial sense, Aprilia brand will also have a wider impact on motorcycling fraternity.
    Aprilia Tuono 457
Design-wise, Aprilia Tuono might not be as universally accepted as its Supersport sibling. Front fascia is slightly convoluted with a vertically stacked headlight design, flanked by LED DRLs. There is a front winglet for aerodynamic efficiency as well. Just like the RS 457, Tuono 457 also flexes its perimeter frame as a design attribute.
Fuel tank is sculpted and screams aggression. Tank shrouds and fat USD telescopic front forks lend a lot of muscle for this street fighter. The housing for TFT instrument cluster acts as a faux windscreen and the underbelly exhaust looks good and shows mass centralisation.
    Aprilia Tuono 457
    Specs and Features
There is a 320 mm front disc anchored by four-pot Bybre callipers and a 220 mm single disc setup at the rear anchored by single-pot callipers. 17-inch alloy wheels can be seen at both ends, wrapped with 110/70 front and 150/60 rear tyres. Aprilia Tuono 457 claimed dry weight is 159.21 kg.
    Aprilia Tuono 457
The same 457cc twin-cylinder liquid-cooled DOHC 4V/cyl engine also powers Tuono 457. It generates around 47 bhp of peak power and 43.5 Nm of peak torque. Dual-channel ABS, a bi-directional quick-shifter, TCS, traction modes are some of the notable features. Production will happen in Piaggio’s Baramati facility in India.

    2025 KTM 390 Adventure R Unveiled
2025 KTM 390 Lineup At EICMA
Next-gen 390 Duke was launched first across many international markets including India, the other models within 390 lineup needed updating. Improving on their previous iterations are 390 Duke (street fighter) and just unveiled 390 Adventure (tourer, off-roader), while next Gen RC 390 is under testing.
    2025 KTM 390 Adventure R
Now, KTM has added two entirely new body styles with 390 lineup – Enduro and SMC. Both motorcycles were just showcased at EICMA 2024. Before diving deep into Enduro and SMC, we have to start with 390 Adventure as it is the most popular one. For the next Gen 390 Adventure, KTM has been offering varied capabilities with the help of variants.
    2025 KTM 390 Adventure R
390 Adventure is offered in X and R variants. Bodywork remains the same between the two, but only the 390 Adventure R variant gets TFT instrument cluster, cornering ABS and MTC. X variant is a more road-focused tourer with 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels, non-adjustable front and rear suspension with 200 mm travel.
    [embedded content]
R variant, on the other hand, is a more off-road-worthy offering with improved hardware like 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wire-spoke wheels, off-road tyres, and fully adjustable suspension with 230 mm travel, among others. Ground clearance is higher with R variant and seat height is 885 mm, while X variant has a seat height of 825 mm.
    2025 KTM 390 Enduro R
    390 Enduro R and 390 SMC R
Where Adventure lineup is more of a semi-faired tourer/off-roader, KTM’s new Enduro lineup aims to be more hardcore and eager to take on the rough stuff. For starters, it ditches Adventure’s fairing and associated weight, making it more manageable to ride off-road. While it lacks a windscreen, it retains the front beak. Headlight and instrument clusters are a simpler units, unlike Adventure’s.
    2025 KTM 390 Enduro R
Another new body style with KTM’s 390 lineup is SMC R, adhering to Supermoto genre. This is likely to be very popular owing to its fun quotient. The main differentiating factor is the 17-inch front and rear wheels wrapped with sporty tyres for maximum corner carving credentials. It gets unique styling with quirky elements, making it stand out within KTM’s 390 lineup.
    2025 KTM 390 SMC R
All of the showcased 390 motorcycles (2025 KTM 390 Adventure R, 390 Enduro R and 390 SMC R) will be manufactured at Bajaj’s facility in Pune and shipped to various markets. New 390 Adventure (X and R) and 390 Enduro R are more likely to launch in India, while 390 SMC R might be skipped, until there is demand, of course. More

Legacy motorcycle manufacturers have been looking into launching more affordable offerings to broaden their sales horizon. BMW has a fruitful partnership with TVS Motor in India and has successfully established a 310cc single-cylinder platform. This platform has spawned G 310 R street fighter, G 310 GS ADV-Tourer and G 310 RR supersport.
Now, the company has teased a new 450cc platform to offer buyers that want more than what this 310cc platform offers. For starters, this new 450 platform is powered by a 450cc twin-cylinder engine that can generate 48 bhp. As revealed by the company, the first motorcycle based on this new platform is an Adventure-Tourer called F 450 GS.
    BMW F 450 GS
BMW Concept F 450 GS Revealed
One of world’s renowned motorcycle manufacturers, BMW Motorrad, has been branching out its portfolio to include a new 450 platform. The company has teased a new GS concept motorcycle based on this platform. Currently in its concept form, this motorcycle has a high probability of making it to production.
Where design is concerned, BMW Motorrad has stuck to its GS genes. The company has trickled down a lot of design elements from bigger GS bikes into this motorcycle. At the front, BMW Concept F 450 GS bears a quad-element LED DRL signature like bigger GS bikes. Production-spec motorcycle will have a functional headlight too.
    [embedded content]
There is an integrated beak at the front, which is a part of its semi fairing. We can also see a reasonably tall windscreen that should reduce wind buffeting. A large radiator for liquid-cooling is also present inside the body work at the front. Also prominent at the front, we have USD telescopic forks finished in a lovely gold shade.
    BMW F 450 GS
These front forks are not adjustable, though. Rear gets a mono-shock setup. Knuckle guards, BMW classic colourway on White, a single-piece rally seat, rear luggage rack, a clean rear tail section (production model will get tail lights and turn indicators), an Akrapovic exhaust and a fully digital instrument cluster with advanced features are some of the notable elements.
    BMW F 450 GS
    What to expect?
There seems to be a tubular trellis frame and subframe. Wheels are of wire-spoke type and they seem to be 19-inchers at the front and 17-inchers at the rear. Tyres are chunky off-road types that will provide a lot of grip and leverage off the road. Saddle width seems manageable too, and so does the rider’s triangle.
    BMW F 450 GS
The 450cc twin-cylinder liquid-cooled engine is the key highlight of BMW Concept F 450 GS. It makes 48 bhp and this concept weighs only 175 kg. Say 180-185 kg for production model. It is primarily developed for A2 class riders in Europe, but could be a worthy weapon against recently spied Aprilia Tuareg 457. More
