New BSA B65 Scrambler Debuts To Take On Royal Enfield Bear 650

New BSA B65 Scrambler DebutsThe same 652cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine will be employed on the new BSA B65 Scrambler, but it might have a unique character
Looking at Royal Enfield’s massive success with its 650cc portfolio, Classic Legends owned BSA Motorcycles revived the iconic Gold Star 650. This motorcycle was launched in India too, at a starting price of Rs 3 lakh (Ex-sh). Now, BSA unveiled a Scrambler variant of Gold Star 650 at Motorcycle Live 2024 show in Birmingham, UK.
If the words BSA Gold Star 650, Scrambler and Birmingham rang a bell, you have a sharp memory. The company showcased a Scrambler version of Gold Star 650 at Motorcycle Live 2022 show in Birmingham, UK. However, this was more like a concept and a demonstration as it lacked quite a few production parts.
    New BSA B65 Scrambler Debuts
    New BSA B65 Scrambler Debuts
The recently showcased B65 Scrambler at Motorcycle Live 2024 show in Birmingham looks more like a production-spec product with all necessary equipment for homologation. It is not yet sure whether BSA has launch intentions with this motorcycle.
You don’t have to be a genius to realise that Gold Star 650 Scrambler is a direct dig at recently launched Royal Enfield Interceptor Bear 650. Both motorcycles boast impeccable brand heritage and nostalgia. They have similar engine displacement and comparable performance metrics.
    [embedded content]
As seen in the video by Mindful Motorcyclist, BSA has implemented dual-tone colour combination on fuel tank. This engine is liquid-cooled, but the aesthetic fins around its water jacket get a dual-tone finish for that retro aura. Apart from that, there is a new exhaust which is slightly up-swept.
Other notable elements include a new handlebar with a cross brace, an all-new subframe and a new and sporty tail section. There is a new fully digital instrument cluster that is controlled by improved switchgear, replacing the analogue twin-pod unit on current bike. Side body panels with racing numbers are new as well.
    New BSA B65 Scrambler Debuts
There’s a small front beak now, along with exposed RSU telescopic front forks with fork gaiters. Suspension travel is increased along with ground clearance. 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wire-spoke wheels are wrapped with Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres for that quintessential Scrambler look. The radiator now gets a new grill and BSA is also showcasing a grill for the LED headlights.
    Same engine as before?
BSA Gold Star 650 Scrambler will get the same 652cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC motor offering 45 bhp of peak power and 55 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 5-speed gearbox and a slipper clutch. There might be some tweaks to this powertrain to suit Scrambler character. Considering the reception of Interceptor Bear 650, BSA might consider launching this soon. More

New Hyundai CretaEvery segment has experienced significant sales growth across the 45 day festive period with the exception of tractors
Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) has detailed Vehicle Retail Data for a 42 days festive period. This period spans from 3rd Oct 2024 to 13th Nov 2024, marking the 1st day of Navaratri and extending to 15 days after Dhanteras. Vehicle sales during this period saw improvements across all segments, well surpassing last year’s figures during the similar period that fell between 15th Oct 2023 and 25th Nov 2023.
Retail sales across the automobile segment saw surging figures hitting record sales. These sales figures could have even been higher had it not been adversely affected by various weather conditions. The southern states were affected by unseasonal heavy rains while in late October, Odisha had to face a backlash after being struck by Cyclone Dana.
    Festive Vehicle Retail Sales 2024
Total vehicle retail sales stood at 42,88,248 units in the 45 day period from 3rd Oct 2024 to 13th Nov 2024. This was an 11.76% YoY growth from 38,37,040 units sold in the 15th Oct 2023 and 25th Nov 2023. It had a volume growth of 4,51,208 units.
Two wheeler sales grew by double digits of 13.79% to 33,11,325 units in the 2024 festive period over 29,10,141 units sold in the corresponding period of 2023. This was a volume growth of 4,01,184 units. Most of these sales were largely dominated by hefty rural demand.
42 day Festive period 2024 – Automotive retail sales in India
3W sales grew by 6.81% in the 2024 festive period to 1,59,960 units. This was over 1,49,764 units sold in the corresponding 45 day period of 2023. This related to a volume growth of 10,196 units.
PV Festive Vehicle Retail Sales Up 7.10%
With most automakers in India offering heavy festive discounts across the passenger vehicle (PV) segment, retail sales surged 7.10% to 6,03,009 units in the festive 2024 period over 5,63,059 units sold in the same 45 day period of 2023. This was a strong volume increase of 39,950 units.
In contrast, it was a marginal growth of 1.02% across the commercial vehicle (CV) segment. Festive sales improved by just 1,302 units to 1,28,738 in the festive period of 2024 over 1,27,436 units sold in the festive period of 2023.
Tractor sales suffered a decline of 1.64%. Sales dipped to 85,216 units in the Festive 2024 period from 86,640 units sold in the 2023 period marking a decline of 1,424 units. The tractor segment is expected to make up in terms of sales thanks to a favourable monsoon and government’s policies which see an increase in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of crops. Now with the festivities coming to a conclusion, the automobile segment remains hopeful to end the calendar year on a promising note allowing dealers to liquidate 2024 stocks and enter the New Year with 21 day inventories. With November and December 2024 marking favourable months for the wedding season in India, improved demand, particularly in the 2W and PV segments are anticipated. More

Royal Enfield Goan Classic 350 Bobber Details Leaked Ahead Of Launch

    Royal Enfield Classic 350 Bobber
With the Royal Enfield Goan Classic 350, users can expect more enjoyable rides and some distinctive features as well
Royal Enfield has strived to increase options available to enthusiasts continuously. As part of that strategy, RE’s 350cc portfolio will get a new member – the Goan Classic 350. The new bike is scheduled to debut at the upcoming Motoverse. The 3-day event will be held from 22nd to 24th November 2024.
Royal Enfield Goan Classic 350 – What’s different?
New Royal Enfield Goan Classic 350 will feature distinctive elements that make it stand out among other 350cc motorcycles from Royal Enfield. For example, the bike will be getting whitewall tyres which were a popular choice during the 1950s and 1960s. Their use was quite common across both cars and motorcycles. Brands like Harley-Davidson and Indian had used these tyres for several of their products.
Royal Enfield Classic 350 Bobber Spied
Whitewall tyres enhance the retro vibes of the bobber-style Goan Classic 350. Enthusiasts who prefer a vintage look and feel will surely be interested in the new Royal Enfield bike. As of now, whitewall tyres are quite rare to be spotted with modern motorcycles. Other changes include a new “U” handlebar that better suits the needs of a bobber-style motorcycle.
Royal Enfield Goan Classic 350 has a ground clearance of 170 mm. It will come with a rider-only seat as standard. A pillion seat will be available as an accessory, along with the supporting kit needed to mount it at the rear. The setup can be similar to that of the pillion seat option available with Shotgun 650. With the rider-only seat, Royal Enfield Goan Classic 350 has a kerb weight of 197 kg. With the pillion seat and supporting frame, the weight of the bike will increase by around 9 kg.
    Royal Enfield Classic 350 Bobber
    Parts borrowed from Classic 350
Most other features of Royal Enfield Goan Classic 350 will be the same as Classic 350. Some of the key highlights include a circular headlamp (probably LED) and rear-view mirrors, tear-drop fuel tank and broad fenders at front and rear. Suspension setup comprises conventional telescopic forks at front and dual rear shock absorbers. While spoked wheels will be better suited for the bobber-style Goan Classic 350, Royal Enfield may provide the option of alloy wheels as well.
Wheel sizes could be similar to Classic 350 – 19-inch front and 18-inch rear. Braking setup is expected to have 300 mm and 270 mm discs at front and rear, respectively. The twin downtube spine frame will be similar to other 350cc Royal Enfield motorcycles. Powering Royal Enfield Goan Classic 350 will be the same 349cc, single-cylinder, air-oil cooled engine that generates 20.2 bhp and 27 Nm of torque. It is mated with a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox.
Royal Enfield Bobber 350 – Image for reference only
Goan Classic 350 – Price estimate
Royal Enfield Goan Classic 350 will be marketed as a lifestyle product and could command a slightly higher pricing in comparison to Classic 350. This can be especially true for the top variants of Goan Classic 350. For reference, Classic 350 single-channel ABS variants start at Rs 1.93 lakh. The top variant is available at Rs 2.30 lakh.

All these motorcycles have almost similar design elements to maintain family identity. There is a round headlight housing four LED elements. Apart from the metallic finishes on clutch and brake levers and front forks, Honda has gone for a matt-black look almost everywhere that bodes well with bike’s overall design.

Round headlights, a single-piece ribbed seat, a clean tail section, an exposed trellis frame, pill-shaped LED tail lights, an up-swept exhaust with a chunky heat shield and round LED turn indicators are other notable design elements.

Alloy wheels are offered with 19-inch front and 17-inch rear along with disc brakes at either end with dual-channel ABS.
Powering the motorcycle is the same 471cc DOHC 4V/cyl liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine that is capable of kicking out around 46 bhp of peak power and 43.3 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. While HMSI has patented the bike’s design, launch probabilities of CL500 in India are very meek.
