Ram Pickup Driver Pulled Over while Towing an Unsecured Mobile Home

Alberta Sheriffs via Facebook

  • A driver towing a large mobile home with a pickup truck was stopped by a sheriff’s-department officer in Alberta, Canada, and charged with 21 violations.
  • The mobile home was simply resting—without a lock—on the trailer hitch of what appears to be a heavy-duty Dodge Ram 3500.
  • Don’t do this.

In today’s edition of just because you can doesn’t mean you should, a driver in the province of Alberta, Canada, decided to tow a mobile home with what appears to be a heavy-duty Dodge Ram 3500. Surely to the driver’s disappointment, a sheriff’s-department officer stopped the rig before the home made it to its destination.

According to a post on the sheriff department’s Facebook page and first spotted by CDLLife.com, the officer gave the driver 21 violations totaling about U.S. $2800. Some of the violations were load not secured to the trailer, exceeding the weight limit of the tires, no working brakes on the trailer, and expired registration.

As the Facebook post notes, the jury-rigged trailer was simply resting on the trailer hitch coming off the pickup; the only thing keeping the trailer on the hitch was its weight. And while we can’t recommend doing anything like this—nor should anyone—we have to hand it to the driver for having the gall and the self-confidence to put this together.
