2021 Yamaha R3 Makes Global Debut – Launch Next Year

    2021 Yamaha R3
Ahead of its launch next year, 2021 Yamaha R3 has been unveiled for Japanese market

The company has put a price tag of JPY 687,500 on the updated motorcycle, which is approximately Rs 4.89 lakh in Indian currency. Yamaha aims to sell at least 3700 units of updated R3 in Japan on an annual basis.
What’s new in updated Yamaha R3?
Changes are fairly limited on 2021 Yamaha R3. It appears that one of the company’s key objectives is to provide more personalization options to customers. Towards that end, updated Yamaha R3 gets a new Cyan colour option.
This looks quite exciting and goes well with other colour shades used on the motorcycle. This new colour option also seems a bit radical, as it’s not something that one would usually see on a motorcycle. For folks who want to flaunt their rides, this peppy new colour can be a lot of fun on the streets.
Shades of cyan can be seen on the headlight cowl, front fender, fairing and fuel tank. It creates an interesting contrast with the blacked-out parts of the motorcycle. The bike’s trendy profile is further enhanced with the multi-coloured graphics and red alloy wheels. Overall, the motorcycle looks striking in its new colour and is an absolute head turner.
    2021 Yamaha R3
The earlier Matte Black shade has also been updated slightly on 2021 Yamaha R3. The third colour option of Deep Purple Blue Metallic has been retained, just as it was earlier.
    2021 Yamaha R3 engine
Updated Yamaha R3 will be using the same engine as earlier. It is powered by a 320 cc, liquid cooled, parallel-twin DOHC motor that is capable of delivering max power of 42 ps at 10,750 rpm and max torque of 29 Nm at 9,000 rpm. This is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Most other cycle parts will also be the same as the current model.
    2021 Yamaha R3
Earlier, Yamaha had unveiled 2021 R3 in US market. There too, the changes were minor and included a new Electric Teal colour option. In US, the updated bike will go on sale for USD 5,299 (Rs 3.89 lakhs). Yamaha R3 has top speed of around 110 mph (~ 180 km/h) and it can reach 0-62 mph (0-100 kmph) in 5.5 seconds. Fuel efficiency is estimated to be around 56 miles per gallon (~ 24 kmpl).
    2021 Yamaha R3 India launch
It is not certain if Yamaha will reintroduce R3 in the Indian market. It was available earlier in BS4 format and was quite popular among bike enthusiasts. However, due to some reasons, the motorcycle was not updated to BS6. As a result, it is currently in discontinued state.
It is possible that Yamaha may do a rethink, as there’s growing interest in performance oriented biking in the country. In that case, 2021 Yamaha R3 could be launched in India next year. It will compete with rivals such as KTM RC 390 and TVS Apache RR 310. More

Yamaha India Nov 2020 Sales Growth – Fascino, Ray, R15, FZ, MT15

    Yamaha MT15
The company is upbeat about its prospects in December 2020 and beyond as the demand of personal mobility is on the rise due to the pandemic

Yamaha India has been steadily building up a momentum in sales growth ever since the country came out of lockdown. The Japanese two wheeler maker started registering YoY growth since June and has been witnessing increased growth rate consistently.
    Yamaha India sales November 2020
In October 2020, Yamaha India’s sales volume registered an impressive 31% growth rate at 60,176 units. The festive season rush and the pent up demand worked in the company’s favour. In November 2020, the company clocked sales of 53,208 units as against 39,406 units during the same month last year. This represents a YoY growth of 35%.
The commendable growth rate in sales volume stems from a relatively small base compared to the competitors but it also represents an increase in demand. Yamaha upgraded its entire scooter portfolio to 125 cc fuel-injected engine and introduced BS6-upgrades for its entire lineup. The growth comes despite the two wheeler maker introducing a nominal hike across its portfolio last month.
Yamaha India says that it is confident of continuing its record sales growth run in December as well. The company is also optimistic about its growth prospects in 2021 as the varied demand for personal mobility is on the rise due to the pandemic.

    Recent marketing initiatives by Yamaha
In a bid to keep its product portfolio relevant and appealing, Yamaha India recently introduced Bluetooth connectivity as an accessory called Yamaha Motorcycle Connect X. The accessory is available as standard with the FZS-FI Dark Knight edition. The company also has been running the “Color Your Warrior” campaign which supports a wider range of color options for its popular MT-15 street fighter.
Responding to the changing paradigm of retail sales during the COVID crisis, the company set up Yamaha Virtual Store in addition to making its accessories and apparels available on Amazon.in.
More over, the company has been dishing out special editions of its motorcycles on a regular basis to target younger audience. Yesterday, the company came up with a Vintage Edition of the FZ-S FI V3 with a slightly larger brown saddle and exclusive decals. In Brazil, they launched the Yamaha FZ25 Avengers, Captain Marvel and Black Panther editions.

With no major new mass market product launch on the horizon, we expect Yamaha India to continue its experimentation with special editions of its exiting range of BS6 ready scooters and motorcycles. More

The new Vintage Edition of Yamaha FZS-FI V3 will be made available in showrooms from 1st week of December 2020

More than a decade ago the 150-160cc segment of bikes was blossoming in the Indian market with Bajaj Pulsar 150 and TVS Apache RTR 160 dominating this space. At the same time, Yamaha was able to carve out a niche space for itself within this segment when it introduced the FZ.
Yamaha’s marketing team gave it a fancy pseudonym as ‘lord of the streets’ which it carried very well with its road presence thanks to its unique design. With its stylish looks and comfortable ride, it found places in many consumers’ garages. Come 2020, the naked roadster is in its second generation and still a very potent buy.

Also, lower engine fairing has been introduced to reduce mud and dirt splatter. The engine cowl also enhances the bike’s sporty appeal.
