2021 Yamaha FZS FI New TVC
Yamaha has added a few additional features to the 2021 FZ and FZ-S range although there have been updates in its mechanical department

Yamaha recently launched an updated version of its most popular motorcycle in India FZ FI and FZ-S FI at a starting price of Rs 1,03,700 (ex-showroom). The refurbished version of the sporty commuter bike has been given a few crucial updates which make it a more tempting buy.
The Japanese bikemaker has now launched a new TV commercial highlighting some new features of FZ-S which is the premium version of the FZ series. Apart from a few feature upgrades, it also gets a new colour option – Matte Red in addition to pre-existing paint schemes such as Dark Knight, Dark Matte Blue, Matte Black and Vintage Edition.
    New Features on offer
Among new feature additions, the most prominent is Yamaha Motorcycle Connect X technology which allows riders to connect their smartphone to the instrument console of the bike via Bluetooth.
This feature was earlier limited to top-of-the-line Vintage Edition but with the latest update has been made a standard offering across the FZ-S range. The Connect X technology permits riders to access features such as ‘Answer back’, ‘E-lock’, ‘Locate my bike’, ‘Hazard’, etc.

Apart from these, FZ-S now comes with a new 3-D emblem on its fuel tank along with a Side Stand Engine Cutoff Switch. Other feature highlights from the updated FZ-S lineup include an LED headlight, fully-digital negative LCD instrument panel, two-level single-piece seat and Bosch single-channel ABS. It rides on 17-inch spoke alloy wheels and now weighs two kilos lighter than its predecessor at 135 kg.
    Mechanical Specs
Coming to its mechanicals, FZ-S is very bit identical to its predecessor. It is powered by a 149cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine that cranks out 12.2 bhp and 13.6 Nm of peak torque. This unit is offered with a 5-speed gearbox. Hardware setup of the bike utilises a telescopic fork at front and a 7-Step adjustable monocross at rear. Anchorage duties are handled by a single disc of 282mm and 220mm at front and rear wheels respectively.
The Japanese bikemaker on the occasion of its launch, said that it will continue to take feedbacks from its consumers and launch new products under the banner of ‘The Call of The Blue’.
These updates have come at a minor price hike in the range of Rs 1,000 and Rs 2,500. Despite the increment in prices, Yamaha FZ remains one of the most affordable in its segment. It rivals segment heavyweights such as Pulsar 150, Suzuki Gixxer, TVS Apache RTR 160 and Hero Xtreme 160. More

Yamaha Fascino, RayZR Scooter Prices Increased By Up To Rs 3,000

    Image – DashboardGuru
Yamaha currently has only two scooter offerings in India, both in the 125cc category

Yamaha Motor India has hiked prices for both its scooter offerings- Fascino and RayZR. Both scooters have witnessed a price hike in the range of Rs 2500 and Rs 3000. This is not the first time this year that Yamaha has increased the prices of its products.
Earlier this year, the Japanese bikemaker incremented the price of YZF R15 V3.0 sports bike by Rs 1200 and is now offered at a starting price of Rs 1.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Other than the hike in prices, there have been no updates on any of the scooters whatsoever.
    Price Hike
Starting With Fascino, the drum brake variants now start at Rs. 72,030 and go up to Rs 73,030, making it Rs 2,500 costlier than before. The disc brake variants are also Rs 2,500 dearer than before. Prices start at Rs 74,530 and go up to Rs 75,530.
Coming to RayZR, the base drum brake will cost you Rs 73,330 while the disc brake variant costs Rs 76,330 making them more expensive by Rs 3,000 each. For the top-spec Ray ZR Street Rally, one has to shell out an extra Rs 3,000 as it has been pegged at a price of Rs. 77,330. All prices are ex-showroom.
Yamaha Fascino and RayZR Prices – March 2021
Yamaha has not released any official statement stating the reason behind the latest price hike. However, one can assume that the increase in prices is a result of an increase in input costs brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic and the global slowdown in the economy. This significant hike in prices might not impact the brand’s sales of scooters in India. Almost every auto maker has plans to increase prices in the coming weeks.
    Specifications
Mechanically, both scooters are identical as they feature the same powertrain and hardware setup. Suspension duties on both scooters are handled by telescopic forks at front and a mono-shock unit at rear.
Both scooters are offered with drum brakes at front and rear ends along with a combined braking system for better handling on the roads as standard. There is also the option of a disc brake at front on both offerings.
Yamaha Fascino and RayZR share the same 125cc, air-cooled, fuel-injected engine which pumps out 8.04 bhp at 6,500 rpm and a peak torque of 9.7 Nm at 5,000 rpm. This unit is linked to a CVT automatic gearbox. Even though both scooters share identical mechanicals, they wear unique top hats. While Fascino is a more looking scooter meant for a mature riding audience, RayZR is a sportier looking scooter primarily meant for the younger audience. More

Yamaha R15 Prices Increased By Rs 2,700 – New Price List March 2021

    Image – Yo Riders
There are no mechanical changes or feature additions. The bike is still significant cheaper than KTM RC 125

The Yamaha R15 V3.0 has cemented its position as the sportiest 150 cc motorcycle in the market. With a comprehensive array of big bike features and an attractive price tag, the motorcycle offers a compelling value for money if you are an enthusiast who is keen on learning the ropes before graduating to high performance machines.
    Yamaha R15 V3.0
It seems Yamaha India is finding it tricky to keep the popular fully faired compact displacement sportsbike’s pricing from inflating every now and then. In what is a periodic upward revision of the prices, the Yamaha R15 V3.0 has gotten dearer by INR 2,700.
    Yamaha R15
    New Price Mar 2021
    Blue
    1,51,700
    Grey
    1,50,600
    Dark Knight
    1,52,700
The revised price tag for the motorcycle in Thunder Grey and Dark Knight are INR 1,50,600 and INR 1,52,700 respectively. The Racing Blue variant currently retails at INR 1,51,700 (all prices are ex-showroom, Delhi). All three colours got expensive by INR 2,700.
There are no changes to the motorcycle or its features. Despite the price hike, the Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 is still nearly INR 12,000 cheaper than the KTM RC 125, its closest competition. The Japanese motorcycle offers a larger engine with more power and quite a few important additional features compared to its Austrian counterpart.
Yamaha R15 March 2021 Prices, In Rs, Ex-sh
    Specifications at a glance
The Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 has been here for quite sometime and yet it continues to retain its appeal thanks to a time proven 155 cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine which dishes out 18.6 hp and 14.1 Nm of torque. A 6-speed transmission is paired to the fuel injected motor by means of a slipper and assist clutch.
The Deltabox frame is supported by telescopic front fork and rear monocross suspension. The 17 alloy wheels are shod with 100/80-17 front and 140/70-R17 tyres, and retarded by 282 mm front and 220 mm rear discs. Dual-channel ABS comes as a standard fitment.
The Yamaha R15 V3.0 is equipped with LED headlamps, fully digital instrument console with fuel consumption indicator, gear position indicator, gear shift timing light and so on. It also gets side stand engine cut-off switch and a range of accessories including LED turn indicators, mobile charging port, frame sliders, skid plates, etc.
Yamaha has the most comprehensive lineup in the Indian 150 cc motorcycle segment with as many as four models, each with different appeals. The brand’s strategy to shift its focus towards automatic scooters and sportier motorcycles instead of slinging it out in the unforgiving commuter motorcycle segment with stalwarts like Hero and Honda seems to be working as intended. Yamaha may not be up there with the leaders in terms of sheer sales volumes, but the Japanese brand has been making steady gains in the segments it chose to be in. More

2021 Yamaha NMax 155 Scooter Gets Updated With New Colours

    2021 Yamaha NMAX 155
NMax 155 shares the same 155cc motor with Yamaha Aerox 155 and YZF R15 V3

Yamaha has introduced a new colour option on its flagship scooter NMax 155 in Indonesia. The Maxi-style scooter will now be available in a Prestige Silver colour option which also gets a gloss black-finished bodywork accompanied by brushed gold-finished alloy wheels.
Apart from this cosmetic update, rest of the scooter is identical to the regular model. The Japanese brand believes that addition of this new colour option will further widen the choices for the consumers. Other colours on offer include Maxi Signature Black and Matte Blue.
    Styling
This colour scheme was also introduced in other Yamaha models such as the recently launched Aerox 155 scooter. Design-wise, this version of NMax 155 is same as the rest of the lineup which gets a maxi-style body.
It gets an LED headlight and taillight, a black screen guard and a sloping single-piece seat. The silver colour option has been specifically developed by Yamaha to fully expose the curves of the scooter’s body in order to make it look more elegant and premium which it does.
    2021 Yamaha NMAX 155
    Powertrain Specs
The Japanese automaker retails NMax 155 in three variants- standard, Connected and Connected with ABS and has been made available across the entire range. Underneath its body, it gets a 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine which also drives its sibling Aerox 155 and YZF R15 V3.
In Nmax, this unit kicks out 15.4 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 13.9 Nm at 6,500 rpm and is mated to a traditional V-belt CVT to carry out transmission duties. In its latest iteration, it is equipped with electronic fuel injection (EFI) as well.
    Features on offer
The new NMax is also offered with loads of modern gizmos such as a TFT digital instrument cluster, keyless system, traction control system, idle start/stop system and an electric power socket. It gets a Communication Control Unit (CCU) technology which could be connected to Yamaha’s Y-Connect application on a smartphone via Bluetooth. It provides information such as message and call notifications, parking location, recommended maintenance, fuel consumption and malfunction notification.
    2021 Yamaha NMAX 155
The Maxi scooter measures 1935mm in length, 740mm in width and 1160mm in height. Its saddle height is pegged at 765 mm while it tips the weighing scales at 131 kg. It employs a ‘backbone frame’ that is suspended on telescopic forks at front and a swingarm rear suspension. As good as it looks and performs on the road, Yamaha is unlikely to launch NMax 155 in India anytime soon as it would be difficult for the company to price it competitively. More

Yamaha Electric Scooters E01 And EC-05 Trademarks Registered

Yamaha concept scooter image for reference
Yamaha will launch its electric scooters in international markets before bringing them in India

It was in 2019 that Yamaha had unveiled E01 and E02 electric scooter concepts at Tokyo Motor Show. One of these, E01, appears to have gotten closer to production stage.
That’s evident in the trademarks that the company has filed recently. Yamaha has also filed a new trademark for its EC-05 electric scooter, which is already sold in Taiwan. As for E02 concept, it may have been abandoned or Yamaha may have plans to introduce it at a later date.
    Yamaha E01 electric scooter
The maxi-styled E01 e-scooter concept showcased at Tokyo Motor Show sported a futuristic look and feel. It had an aerodynamic design and eye-catchy dual-tone colour theme. Some of the key features include aggressive front fascia, tinted windscreen, trendy rear view mirrors, and tapered seat design.
In its production form, Yamaha E01 is expected to be equipped with conventional telescopic forks at the front and single shock absorber at the rear. It will have disc brakes at both ends, integrated with at least single-channel ABS.
Yamaha concept scooter image for reference
It is expected to pack in various other features such as Bluetooth, geo-fencing, and swappable battery. In terms of performance, E01 electric scooter will be equivalent to the current breed of Yamaha 125cc scooters such as Fascino and Rayzr.
    Yamaha EC-05 electric scooter
Already on sale in Taiwan, Yamaha EC-05 is expected to be launched soon in international markets such as Europe. EC-05 has been developed via a joint collaboration between Yamaha and Taiwan-based Gogoro Inc. The latter is a leading e-scooter manufacturer.
Gogoro has also been playing an instrumental role in developing the required infrastructure such as battery swapping stations. More than 2,000 of these are already functional in Taiwan.
Powering EC-05 is a G2 Aluminium alloy water-cooled permanent magnet synchronous motor integrated with a MOSFET water-cooled motor controller. It is capable of generating 10 hp of max power and 26 Nm of peak torque. The e-scooter has an all-LED setup and is equipped with LCD backlit dashboard.
Suspension system comprises telescopic fork at the front and dual rear shocks. Both front and rear wheels have disc brakes, integrated with either ABS or UBS (unified braking system). UBS is similar to CBS system that is currently offered in several two-wheelers in India.
Yamaha electric scooter India launch plans
Although opportunities exist, launch of Yamaha electric scooters in the Indian market could take a while. As per last reports, Yamaha was in the process of conducting a feasibility study to assess the possibility of introducing electric two-wheelers in the country.
The company had earlier said that it will continue to focus on developing better versions of ICE engines, as a complete transition to EVs will take several years. When launched, Yamaha electric scooters will take on the likes of Bajaj Chetak, Ather, and TVS iQube. More

2021 Yamaha MT15 With New Attire Launched In Thailand

    2021 Yamaha MT15
International-spec MT-15 features an inverted front fork and an aluminium swingarm instead of conventional telescopic front forks and a box-section swingarm

Yamaha has launched its entry-level naked streetfighter MT-15 in Thailand with new colour schemes which resemble its bigger, meaner and more powerful sibling MT-09. To be specific, the 2021 MT-15 is now offered in three paint options including Racing Blue, Matt Black and Metallic Gray.
The good thing though, the Japanese bikemaker hasn’t increased the prices of the bike and is still offered at a price of THB 98,500 (equivalent to INR 2.38 lakh). All three colour variants feature the brand’s signature slanted stripes on its fuel tank like MT-09. And also sports the large MT logo on its tank shrouds.
    Difference between India-spec, Thai-spec MT-15
One can also notice colour-coded stripes on its tail section too which are nicely complemented by colour-coded stripes on the wheel rims. This visual accentuates the sporty appeal of the naked motorcycle. In India though, consumers get Ice Fluo Vermillion, Dark Matte Blue and Metallic black as colour schemes. However, Indian customers get customisation options that let one opt from as many as eleven colour combinations.
The Thai-spec model although comes with superior underpinnings. Its hardware setup features a more premium upside-down USD front suspension finished in golden colour along with an aluminium swingarm.
    2021 Yamaha MT15
The India-spec model, on the other hand, sadly gets conventional telescopic forks at front and a box-section swingarm. Other features on offer in the Indian model include LED headlamps, LED taillights, a digital speedometer, disc brakes on both ends and single-channel ABS.
    Powertrain Specs
MT-15 in Thailand comes with the same powertrain as the Indian version which features a Euro-5/BS6 compliant 155cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled four-valve motor. This unit is mated to a six-speed gearbox with an assist and slipper clutch and returns an output of 18.5 bhp at 10,000rpm and 14.7 Nm of peak torque at 8500rpm. The bike shares its underpinning, hardware and engine with its faired cousin R-15.
    Other Yamaha Models
Yamaha has been busy launching updated products in Thailand. A few days ago, the Japanese brand launched its premium Maxi-styled scooter named Aerox 155. As the name suggests, it derives its power from the same 155cc engine which also drives MT-15 and R15.
    2021 Yamaha MT15
Although, in Aerox this unit is slightly detuned and churns out 15.4 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 13.9 Nm at 6,500 rpm. Equipped with electronic fuel injection (EFI), this unit is linked to a traditional V-belt CVT to carry out transmission duties.
The Japanese manufacturer has also registered a new trademark with the name FZ-X which is speculated to be the company’s upcoming adventure motorcycle in India. It is likely to be underpinned by the same platform as its quarter-litre sibling FZ25 and FZS25 and hence it is expected to be powered by the same 249cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. More

Yamaha FZ X 250cc Adventure Motorcycle Render

Yamaha FZ-X Adventure Motorcycle – Render by @d.by.akash
Apart from mechanical configurations, Yamaha FZ-X is likely to borrow certain design cues from its 250cc naked street racer siblings

A few weeks ago, we had reported that Yamaha has registered a new trademark named ‘FZ-X’ which is speculated to be the company’s upcoming adventure bike offering in India. The bike is said to be based on the brand’s 250cc platform which currently underpins FZ25 and FZS-25.
A digitally rendered image of the upcoming motorcycle has surfaced on social media courtesy of ‘D by Akash’ in which the bike has been imagined as an ADV. The designer, as expected, has taken FS25 as the donor model and tweaked its styling to make it look like an adventure tourer.
    Updated Styling
From the looks of it, the designer has taken certain inspirations from Yamaha Tracer series of motorcycles. The design gets a slightly different headlight cluster with the addition of a windscreen above it to prevent the wind burst. It gets the same fuel tank and tank shrouds as FZ25 and FZS-25.
Other design elements such as raked-up split seats have been carried forward from the naked street twins. It receives a new belly pan instead of the engine cowl along with knuckle protectors around the handlebar, a new upswept exhaust pipe and a new rack to load up the luggage.
Yamaha FZ-X Adventure Motorcycle – Render by @d.by.akash
Instead of single-point fixed grab rails, this design render showcases dual side-bolted grab rails for pillion convenience. Another major difference is the use of wire-spoke wheels as opposed to alloy wheels since the former provides better traction to tyres when venturing off-tarmac.
Interestingly, profiles of both tyres are very different as the rear is much knobbier than the front one. Other subtle but notable changes include a shortened fender and a flatter number plate mount.
    Mechanical Configurations
The designer has confessed that this rendering is a more road-biased version of the adventure bike. Mechanical specifications of this upcoming bike are expected to remain the same as those in the naked streetfighters. It will derive its power from the same 249cc single-cylinder, air-cooled unit that returns an output of 20.6 bhp and 20 Nm of peak torque. This unit will be mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Suspension setup is also likely to remain similar albeit with a slight tweak, in order to provide a little more travel.
Entry-level adventure motorcycles have been raking in good numbers in recent times with new options in the fold. As popularity increases, many manufacturers are eyeing this segment with their new offerings. TVS Motor too is planning to develop an entry-level adventure tourer which is expected to be named ‘Raider’. Upon its launch, FZ-X will most likely rival the likes of Royal Enfield Himalayan, KTM 250 Adventure and BMW G 310 GS.
