    2021 Yamaha Bolt Cruiser Gets Updated With R-Spec Variant

    Yamaha boasts a wide range of motorcycles across a variety of body styles and segments in its international lineup. Unfortunately, this doesn’t hold true for the Indian market as many models have been discontinued in recent years and the Japanese manufacturer is only left with a paltry number of models.
    Meanwhile, its international lineup continues to grow stronger as it has launched an updated version of Bolt in its home market. For reference, the Bolt moniker was first introduced in 2013 as a 2014 model, specifically for the US market. In its upgraded form revealed recently, the big bobber-style cruiser will only be available in the R Spec trim while the base variant has been axed from the lineup.
    Traditional Cruiser Styling
    The new 2021 Bolt R Spec rides on premium 19-inch front and 16-inch rear alloy wheels with a brushed metallic finish wrapped around by tubeless tyres. The base variant, on the other hand, was offered only wire-spoke wheels.
    It flaunts a retro theme styling featuring round headlamps, taillamps, circular instrument cluster and a teardrop-shaped fuel tank. The split-seat design further enhances its bobber stance.

    Overall, the cruiser features elegant styling which is accentuated by a beautifully styled engine taking centre stage with a polished crankcase and cooling fins. It will be offered in two colour schemes- Metallic Black or Grayish Blue Metallic. The latter also comes with understated body graphics.

    Hardware Setup
    Hardware configuration of the motorcycle is kept intact. It is built on a dual cradle frame with the front end suspended on a pair of 41mm telescopic forks. While the rear end is suspended on a set of twin gas-charged shocks with gold-coloured external reservoirs. Anchorage is handled by front and rear 298mm petal disc brakes which are assisted by dual-channel ABS. At a kerb weight of 252kg, it surely is a very hefty machine. The fuel tank can hold up to 13-litres of fuel.
    Engine Specs
    Coming to its performance, it is powered by a 942cc V-Twin air-cooled, SOHC, fuel-injected engine that has been rated to return an output of 54 bhp at 5500rpm and 80 Nm of peak torque at 3000rpm. It is mated to a 5-speed gearbox that transfers power to the rear wheel via a belt drive just like traditional cruisers. This suggests it is an easy-going cruiser rather than a hustler.

    Yamaha FZ-X Spied Nr Atal Tunnel During TVC Shoot In 3 New Colours

    New Yamaha FZ-XUpon its launch, Yamaha FZ-X will become the most affordable retro-style classic motorcycle in India
    Recently it was revealed that Yamaha is working on developing a new motorcycle based on its exciting 150cc lineup which comprises FZ Fi and FZS Fi. This new bike was spotted testing a few weeks ago in the Yamuna Expressway and was earlier believed to be part of the XSR brand of motorcycles sold in foreign markets.
    It turned out, Yamaha will be using its FZ moniker in the upcoming bike which wears a retro design. Now, production-spec FZ-X has been spied near Atal tunnel by automotive enthusiast Surya Dagar.
    New Yamaha FZ-X
    There are total of three FZ-X motorcycles in 3 different colours of Blue, Orange and Black. These were spotted undisguised while being shot for upcoming launch TVC.
    Dimension & Design
    The spied images revealed that FZ-X will wear an entirely different top hat in comparison to its naked streetfighter siblings. This establishes the change in its dimensions which according to the leaked document, FZ-X will outstretch FZ Fi by 30mm, 5mm and 35mm in its length, width and height respectively. In exact figures, the classic roadster will measure 2,020mm in length, 785mm in width and 1,115mm in height.

    As mentioned earlier, FZ-X will carry a retro-themed design with a conventional teardrop-shaped fuel tank, circular headlamp and aluminum brackets on both sides. In addition, FZ-X gets a boomerang-shaped radiator guard that differs from the one found in FZ Fi that gives the naked street racer a hunkered-down look. We also notice that the front suspension gets fork gaiters on the telescopic forks apart from the mono-shock at rear.

    The motorcycle features a flat seat design, upright handlebars and center-set footpegs that must ensure a comfortable riding position. The relaxed ride posture would make it ideally suitable for short city commutes as well as highway cruising. Other notable highlights expected to be included are an upswept exhaust and a digital instrument console.
    Powertrain Specs
    As for specifications, it will be powered by the same 149cc air-cooled SOHC engine that also propels FZ Fi V3 and FZS Fi V3. This unit is tuned to churn out 12.2 bhp at 7,500rpm and 13.6 Nm of peak torque at 5,500rpm while being mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Braking duties will be carried out 282mm and 220mm front and rear disc brakes respectively which will be further assisted by a single-channel ABS.
    Expect the new FZ-X to be offered at the same price as FZ Fi which currently starts at Rs 1.04 lakh (ex-showroom). No information regarding its prospective launch is yet available but we expect the motorcycle to hit showrooms just ahead of the festive season later this year. More

    Yamaha Sales, Exports Breakup March 2021 – FZ, RayZR, Fascino, R15, MT15

    A total of 46,241 units were sold in March 2021, which is YoY growth of 7.20%. Sales during the corresponding period last year stood at 43,136 units. Export numbers are even better in percentage terms. A total of 33,678 units were exported in March 2021, which is YoY growth of 72.59%. Exports in March last year stood at 19,513 units.
    Yamaha domestic sales March 2021 – FZ leads
    Yamaha motorcycles have emerged as popular options in entry-level performance biking segment. Leading the pack in March is FZ with sales of 16,563 units. YoY growth is 65.56%, as compared to 10,004 units sold in March last year. FZ share in sales is 35.82%.
    Yamaha will soon be expanding the FZ range with a new motorcycle named FZ-X. It will be positioned as an entry-level retro styled motorcycle, cheaper than the existing breed of 300-400cc retro motorcycles.
    At number two is RayZR with sales of 8,272 units in March 2021. YoY sales are down by -30.91%, as compared to 11,972 units sold in March last year. Percentage share in sales is at 17.89%. Last month, Yamaha had increased prices of RayZR by Rs 3,000. It is now available at a starting price of Rs 73,330.
    Yamaha Domestic Sales – March 2021
    Fascino is next in the list with sales of 7,724 units in March 2021. YoY sales have close to halved, as compared to 14,433 units sold in March last year. Percentage share in sales is 16.70%. Fascino prices were also hiked in March by Rs 2.5k. It is available at a starting price of Rs 72,030.
    R15 takes fourth spot with sales of 6,988 units in March 2021. YoY growth is 59.11%, as compared to 4,392 units sold in March last year. Percentage share in sales is 15.11%. R15 recently received a new colour option of Metallic Red. The other colour options are Racing Blue, Thunder Grey and Darknight.
    At number five is MT15 with sales of 6,472 units in March 2021. YoY growth has more than tripled, as compared to 2,040 units sold in March last year. Percentage share in sales is 14.00%. MT-15 will soon be getting dual-channel ABS option, which has been a long pending demand of consumers.

    At number six is FZ25 with sales of 222 units in March 2021. YoY growth is 534.29%, as compared to 35 units sold in March last year. Percentage share in sales is 0.48%. Products like Saluto, Alpha and R3 did not register any sales in March 2021.

    With the exception of Saluto and Fascino, all other Yamaha two-wheelers have positive growth in exports in March 2021. The top five are FZ (13,066 units), Crux (5,798), RayZR (5,498), FZ25 (2,911), and Saluto RX (2,344).     2021 Yamaha R15 Gets New Colour Scheme – Not Launched In India

    Yamaha YZF R15 has got yet another new colour option in its arsenal in the form of a new silver and neon paint scheme. Unfortunately, this shade has been available in the Malaysian market only as of now. The new silver colour adds a touch of premium-ness to the entry-level faired sports bike.
    New Silver/Neon Paint Scheme
    The silver paint on body panels is nicely complemented by flashy fluorescent yellow rims on the alloy wheels which give it a neon treatment and a funky look. Strips of yellow are also seen on its centre panels along with the tail section. The front suspension forks are embellished in golden colour providing a nice contrast to the overall sportiness.
    Contrast provided by the blacked-out panels, underbelly and exhaust muffler further accentuate the bike’s sporty appeal. Silver paint with a dark grey scheme on the fuel tank spine, front fender, tail cowl and lower headlamp cowl gives the bike a feeling of masculinity.
    The dark grey finish is also prevalent on the body graphics. A carbon fibre weave texture is given to the exhaust cover. Apart from this new paint scheme on offer there has been no other update on the faired motorcycle.

    Styling
    In terms of styling, YZF R15 continues to feature a twin-pod LED headlight giving the motorcycle a very aggressive front face. Other design highlights include split-style seats, a full-fairing design inspired by Yamaha’s flagship YZF R1 and a forward-leaning committed riding posture thanks to clip-on handlebars, rear-set footpegs and a muscular fuel tank design.
    The international-spec R15 is slightly different in terms of specifications when compared to its Indian counterpart. Unlike the international model sold in Malaysia and other markets, the India-spec model comes with conventional telescopic forks at front instead of USD forks.
    The rear suspension gets the same mono-shock. Braking duties are carried out by a 282mm disc with twin-piston calipers at front and a single-piston caliper with 220mm disc at rear.
    2021 Yamaha R15 New Colour
    Engine Specs
    Powering the entry-level superbike is a 155cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, four-valve SOHC motor that pushes an output of 18.6 PS of power and 14.1 Nm of peak torque. This engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper/assist clutch preventing rear-wheel lock-up during aggressive downshifts. Further, the engine is equipped with modern features such as VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) and electronic fuel injection.
    In India, Yamaha offers YZF R15 in Rs. 1,51,700, Rs. 1,50,600 and Rs. 1,52,700 in their respective colour schemes namely Racing Blue, Thunder Grey and Dark Knight.     New Yamaha FZ-X 150cc Retro Motorcycle Spied Undisguised

    When a test mule of Yamaha was spotted in Yamuna Expressway a few weeks ago, it was presumed that the Japanese carmaker was planning to bring the XSR lineup to India. While later it was revealed that it won’t carry the XSR branding and instead will be named FZ-X even though the latter is also likely to be a retro-style bike like the former.
    Yamaha FZ-X will be based on FZ-FI V3 as revealed by a government approval document leaked a few days ago. It is speculated to share a lot in common with its international counterpart XSR 150 as far as styling and specifications are concerned. A new photo has now leaked, which shows the front quarter completely undisguised.
    2021 Yamaha FZ-X for India
    While underpinnings and powertrain are likely to be the same, the FZ-X roadster is likely to wear a different top hat in comparison to its naked streetfighter. When launched, it will create a new segment of entry-level retro motorcycles and will be positioned as a more affordable alternative to current entry-level retro-style classic motorcycles (300-400cc). This segment is currently dominated by Royal Enfield with rivals from Jawa, Benelli and Honda.
    Expected Design Elements
    This could turn out to be extremely beneficial for Yamaha as the bikemaker will try and utilise the first mover’s benefits to ramp up its sales volume. In terms of design, some of the highlights expected are a box-style fuel tank, fork gaiters, flat seat design, center-set footpegs, a comfortable riding position, upswept exhaust and a digital instrument cluster. The relaxed riding stance would be suitable for daily urban commutes as well as highway touring.

In figures, the classic roadster will measure 2,020mm in length, 785mm in width and 1,115mm in height.
    When launched, FZ-X could be offered at the same price as FZ Fi which currently has a starting price of Rs 1.05 lakh (ex-showroom). Exact launch timeline is yet to be confirmed by Yamaha.

    As revealed in spy shots, Yamaha FZ-X features modern-retro styling. This could be advantageous for the motorcycle, as there’s significant consumer interest in retro themed two-wheelers.
    Some of the key features include fork gaiters, a bulkier looking, box-type fuel tank, flat seat design and short tail. The motorcycle has been equipped with alloy wheels, sleek turn indicators, digital instrument cluster, and upswept exhaust.
    Yamaha FZ-X will offer a comfortable riding stance, which will be suitable for urban commutes as well as long distance touring. It is expected that FZ-X will have multiple India-specific features to suit driving conditions and consumer preferences in the country. Yamaha has followed the same strategy for its other motorcycles such as MT15 and R15.

    In terms of dimensions, Yamaha FZ-X is longer, wider and taller than FZ. It measures 2020 mm in length, 785 mm in width and 1115 mm in height. In comparison, FZ measures 1,990mm x 780mm x 1,080mm (length x width x height). However, wheelbase of 1330 mm is the same for both motorcycles.

    Yamaha already has a strong presence in 150cc-200cc motorcycle segment with products like FZ, R15 and MT15. Together, these motorcycles command around 20% market share in this space.     2021 Yamaha MT15 Dual ABS Launch Soon – Gets Approval

    Aiming to improve safety, Yamaha will be introducing dual-channel ABS for MT-15. The current model is offered with single-channel ABS. This move appears to be based on market feedback.
    At the time of MT-15’s launch in 2019, enthusiasts had reported the lack of dual-channel ABS and aluminium swingarm. With the latest update, the safety issue will be resolved. In future iterations, Yamaha could also introduce aluminium swingarm for MT-15.
    Yamaha MT-15 dual-channel ABS price
    With the update, MT-15 will be available at a starting price of Rs 1.43 lakh. The current model starts at Rs 1.42 lakh for standard colour variants. For customized body colour and wheel colour, prices start at Rs 1.45 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.
    The standard colour options include Metallic Black, Dark Matt Blue and Ice Fluo-Vermillion. For users choosing CYW (Customize Your Warrior) platform, a total of 11 colour combinations are available. Wheel colour options under CYW include Vermillion, Gold, Racing Blue, and Neon Green.
    Yamaha MT15 Dual ABS gets approval
    It is expected that dual-channel ABS update will be introduced as a new variant. This will ensure that budget-conscious customers have the option to choose the existing single-channel ABS variant.
    MT-15 engine and specs
    Apart from dual-channel ABS, everything else is expected to be the same as the current model. Yamaha MT-15 is powered by a 155cc, SOHC, liquid cooled motor that is capable of generating 18.5 ps of max power at 10,000 rpm and 13.9 Nm of peak torque at 8,500 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed constant mesh transmission.
    MT-15 is equipped with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) that ensures adequate torque even at low RPM. Another key feature is assist and slipper clutch, which ensures smooth clutch pull and downshifts.
    Talking about safety, MT-15 has side stand engine cut-off switch. For safer rides during night, the motorcycle has bi-functional LED headlights. MT-15 can easily tackle high speeds, as it comes with wide 140mm radial rear tyre. These were introduced at the time of BS6 update in February 2020. It ensures optimal grip across a range of environments.
    MT-15 utilizes a deltabox frame, suspended on telescopic front forks and linked-type monocross rear suspension.     Yamaha MT15 Prices Increased For April 2021 – New Price List

    In this period of price revisions in automotive products, Yamaha has already increased prices of two models in its lineup. At the start of a new financial year in April, the Japanese bikemaker increased prices of YZF R15 V3.0 and FZS. However, unlike other OEMs, the hike in prices is comparatively very low by Yamaha.
    MT-15 Revised Prices
    The company has done the same with MT15 which has received a marginal price hike of Rs 1,000 across its lineup. Prices of the naked streetfighter vary according to the different colour options available. It is offered in three colour schemes- Dark Matte Blue, Metallic Blue and Ice Fluo-vermillion along with Customise Your Warrior which lets one choose from multiple paint schemes.

    Powertrain Specs
    The naked motorcycle derives its power from a 155cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled 4-valve motor that returns an output of 18.4 bhp and 14.1 Nm of peak torque. This unit is coupled with a 6-speed gearbox.
    Yamaha MT15 Customization
    This exact same powertrain is also found on the faired YZF R15 with the same output. However, a shorter drive ratio of the gearbox than the faired superbike thanks to a larger rear sprocket makes the ultra naked street racer a tad quicker while commuting.
    Hardware & Features
    Speaking of its hardware, it is built on the same deltabox frame as R15 that is suspended on telescopic forks at front and a mono-shock unit at rear. However, unlike R15 which gets an aluminium swingarm, the rear swingarm used on MT15 is a steel box-type.
    Stopping duties are handled by disc brakes at both ends assisted by a single-channel ABS. Like R15, the 155cc motor in MT-15 comes with Variable Valve Actuation that allows peak engine performance at higher revs without having to compromise on low- and mid-range grunt.
    In terms of features, it gets a full LED lighting setup with an LED headlight, taillight and DRLs. It is equipped with a fully digital instrument console but with a negative display and also misses out on Mobile as well as Bluetooth connectivity. It rivals the likes of KTM 125 Duke, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V and Bajaj Pulsar NS160.
