2021 Yamaha FZ25 MotoGP EditionYamaha FZ25 competes against naked quarter-litre motorcycles such as Suzuki Gixxer 250, Bajaj Dominar 250 and KTM 250 Duke
Yamaha recently introduced its exhilarating ‘The Call of the Blue’ campaign under which prices of FZ25 were reduced significantly. Now, as a continuation to that campaign, the Japanese bikemaker has launched a special edition model of the quarter-litre offering. Called FZ25 Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Edition, this limited-run model comes at a price of Rs 1,36,800/- (ex-showroom).
The new variant is slotted in between the standard FZ25 and the top-spec FZS 25. While it will be a limited edition model, the exact number of production units to be sold is not yet confirmed. The quarter-litre naked streetfighter is mechanically identical to the standard FZ225 and only boasts cosmetic upgrades.
    MotoGP Edition Cosmetic Upgrades
FZ25 MotoGP Edition wears Yamaha M1’s racing livery which features the signature Yamaha MotoGP branding in addition to Yamaha Blue, Eneos, and Monster Energy decals on the tank shrouds, fuel tank, and side panels. This signifies the company’s racing background. The additional aesthetic enhancements come at a premium of over Rs 3,000 over the standard FZ25 which is currently priced at Rs 1,35,376 (ex-showroom).
Speaking at the launch of the new model, Motofumi Shitara, Chairman, Yamaha India said, “The spirit of The Call of the Blue is born from Yamaha’s Racing DNA. This year our performance in MotoGP has been exceptional. Till now we are #1 in all three Standings – Team, Constructor and Rider.”
    2021 Yamaha FZ25 MotoGP Edition
The Japanese manufacturer has launched this special edition model to mark its successful run in the current MotoGP season so far. Hence, Yamaha India has also made it clear that it will be launching MotoGP editions of its other models as well.
    Features & Specifications
FZ25 continues to pack the same set of features comprising a Multi-Function Negative LCD Instrument Cluster, Bi-Functional LED Headlight, LED DRLs, Side Stand with an Engine Cut-off Switch and engine under cowl. Other notable highlights include an LED taillamp, split seat setup, grab rails, a wide handlebar, heat shield exhaust system, black alloy wheels and a rear tyre hugger.
While FZ25 MotoGP Edition mimics a racing bike, its performance figures remain the same as the regular model. It is powered by a 249cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine which kicks out 20.6 bhp at 8,000rpm and 20.1 Nm of peak torque at 6,000rpm. This unit is paired with a 5-speed gearbox.
It also carries forward the same hardware configurations as its regular sibling. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks for the front and a mono-shock at the rear while braking is done by single discs at both ends along with a dual-channel ABS. More

New Yamaha Maxi Scooter For India – To Rival Suzuki Burgman Street

Image – XIII Tips N VlogThe upcoming Yamaha Maxi-style scooter is likely to borrow its mechanical components from Fascino 125 and RayZR and its looks from NMax 125
While Maxi-style scooters aren’t yet a big thing in India, internationally it is a very sought-after segment of two-wheelers. In India, options are limited to Aprilia SXR 160 which is a proper Maxi scooter while the others like SXR 125 and Suzuki Burgman Street are sort of Maxi scooters with a similar design philosophy.
Yamaha intends to venture into this segment by introducing a new Maxi-style scooter in India in the near future. This scooter will be directly pitted against Burgman Street which is currently priced between Rs 82,700 – Rs 86,200 (ex-showroom) and is slated to hit showrooms by early next year.
    Expected Engine Specs
The Japanese automaker believes that Maxi scooters space is bound to grow in future and Yamaha would like to gain an early mover’s advantage. The upcoming scooter will most probably utilise the 125cc platform and engine from Fascino and RayZR. This 125cc fuel-injected, air-cooled motor puts out 8.2 bhp and 9.7 Nm of peak torque.
In comparison, its supposed nemesis Burgman Street is propelled by a 124cc, single-cylinder motor that churns an output of 8.7bhp at 6750rpm and 10Nm of peak torque at 5500rpm. NMax 125, on the other hand, is powered by a 124cc, liquid-cooled engine which delivers an output of 11.8 bhp and 11 Nm of peak torque.
    2021 Yamaha NMAX
    Expected Design & Features
Design-wise, it is likely that Yamaha might draw inspiration from the larger NMax 155 which recently launched in Japan. The Maxi-style scooter might sport a similar front-heavy faired body with twin-beam headlamps at front apron and a long dark tinted windshield above.
The headlamps feature integrated angular DRLs. Other styling highlights expected to be carried forward include a stepped-up single-piece saddle and designer alloy wheels.
However, unlike NMax 155, the upcoming scooter is not likely to feature a raised floorboard. Yamaha has announced that all models under its lineup will receive the option of Bluetooth connectivity, therefore, that is a given. Apart from this, features likely to be made available in the power scooter are a digital instrument cluster, a 12V charging socket and an engine start-stop system.
Hardware specifications are expected to mirror RayZR and Fascino with suspension duties carried out by telescopic forks and a mono-shock at front and rear respectively. Both front and rear wheels are expected to feature disc brakes which should be assisted by at least a single-channel ABS (anti-lock braking system). Upon its launch, the upcoming Yamaha Maxi scooter will be the most premium scooter in India.

Yamaha R15, MT15 Price Hike July 2021 – To Get Bluetooth Update Soon

Image – Automobile Info OnlyYamaha R15 V3 is now costlier by 2.5k, and MT15 by upto 5k depending on variant
With the start of Q2 FY22, a range of auto manufacturers have revised the price list of products. While the quantum of price revision varies depending on product, this isn’t the first price hike this fiscal. Most manufacturers carried out a similar exercise at the start of April 2021. By and large, price hikes are attributed to increase in input costs.
While Yamaha MT15 price hike three months earlier hovered at around a grand across variants, the price hike now is visibly higher. A listed price of Rs 1,45,900 means variants are now costlier by about Rs 4,000 – Rs 5,000. Prices three months earlier were listed between Rs 1,40,900 – Rs 1,41,900. Once Yamaha India launches MT15 with dual channel ABS, expect that variant to command a pricier tag.
    Yamaha R15 and MT 15 Prices – July 2021 vs April 2021
Yamaha is also getting ready to launch bluetooth equipped variants of R15 and MT15. The same feature has already been launched in the FZ range, called Yamaha Connect X. It will allow riders to answer back calls, riding history, parking record, locate my bike, hazard as well as allow e-lock – all via smartphone app.
    Price hike in Q2 FY22
Yamaha YZF R15 V3 variants are now costlier by 2.5k. In the previous quarter, R15 variants were made costlier by 1.5k. Thunder Grey and metallic variants now cost Rs 1,54,600, Racing Blue costs Rs 1,55,700, and Dark Knight is available at a price of Rs 1,56,700. Both, R15 and MT15 are also expected to feature bluetooth connectivity soon.
    Yamaha R15 and MT 15 Prices – July 2021 vs Dec 2020
Yamaha India has not yet released June 2021 sales. However, the quarter ended June has been a trying period for manufacturers. Given the grip the current wave of Covid-19 pandemic on the economy, and resulting business limitations, Yamaha India cumulative domestic wholesales For April and May 2021 was just shy of 46k units. Given that India was under complete lockdown for much of the comparable quarter in 2021, no meaningful YoY comparison can be made.
    Yamaha FZ range
Based on current medical advisories that are closely dependent on recovery rate, states are individually drafting partial lockdowns. Given necessary preparations being made for a consequent Covid-19 wave, businesses can only hope to inch towards full functionality under much caution.
A fortnight earlier, the manufacturer launched FZ-X, an entry level retro bike in the 150cc segment. Yamaha already has a winner in its FZ range, an important volume product in the domestic, and export markets. Given that India offers great opportunities in the small cc mass market, strengthening its current lineup is an expected move.
Furthermore, since volumes have contracted across the market, it’s necessary for manufacturers to build on market share. Following market contraction in the last fiscal, Q1 performance hasn’t been uplifting for the Indian auto industry. More

Yamaha R15, MT15 Bluetooth Update Launch Soon – Might Get Price Hike

Yamaha MT15 with Bluetooth update launch soonYamaha offers Bluetooth Connectivity in two iterations of Yamaha Connect app-  Connect X and Y-Connect
During the recent launch of the new FZ-X, Yamaha made its intentions clear that they will be offering Bluetooth connectivity as an option across its entire India lineup. In this regard, the company updated its scooter lineup including Fascino Fi 125 and RayZR with Bluetooth functionality.
The updated scooters are expected to go on sale in a few days. Currently, Yamaha offers this feature in its entire FZ range including FZ Fi, FZ-X and FZ25. After the bikemaker launches the updated scooters, it will extend these novel features to its flagship models- R15 and MT15. The launch timeline for these models to receive this feature is yet to be revealed.
    Yamaha Connect App
The Bluetooth connectivity can be used to pair the rider’s smartphone and bike’s instrument console via Yamaha Motorcycle App. There are two iterations of this app available in India- Connect X and Y-Connect. The former offers features such as riding history, answer back, battery voltage, parking record, incoming calls, SMS and email alerts.
The Y Connect version is a more premium alternative to the former which offers all the standard tech offered in Connect X in addition to maintenance recommendation, fuel consumption, malfunction notification, rev dashboard, phone battery level indicator and more.
    Yamaha R15 V3 Metallic Red
The flagship motorcycles- MT15 and R15 are expected to be offered with this version of Yamaha Connect. This will make the bikes more lucrative and modern packages although, with these updates, prices of these models are also expected to be increased.
    FZ-X Accessories
Apart from the launch, Yamaha has also revealed a number of official accessories for the new FZ-X motorcycle. These include seat cover, fuel tank pad, bike cover, chrome embellished rearview mirrors, LED turn indicators, rear footrest and engine guard with prices ranging between Rs 300 and Rs 1,490. FZ-X has a starting price of Rs 1.17 lakh which is nearly Rs 12,000 more than the standard 150cc FZ model.
Yamaha currently has only seven models in its India lineup. It is one of the few mass manufacturers in India which exports more models than it sells in the domestic market. This is because it has a wide portfolio of models for its export lineup.
The company sold 11,613 units in the domestic market while exported 17,512 models to overseas markets in the month of May 2021. Yamaha has plans to expand its India lineup in future but nothing has been confirmed by the Japanese brand as of now. More

Yamaha Electric Scooter For Indian Market – Eyes On New EV Policy

2022 Yamaha Electric ScooterRising fuel prices, coupled with increased FAME-II subsidy can boost EV sales
After revealing Fascino 125 FI Hybrid earlier this month, Yamaha Motor has indicated towards the possible launch of an electric scooter in the Indian market. If that plan becomes a reality, Yamaha will join the list of mainstream two wheeler manufacturers who have dedicated all-electric products.
As of now, Bajaj and TVS are the only established auto manufacturers to launch electric two wheelers. Majority of the electric two wheeler segment is still dominated by startups and tech companies.
    Yamaha evaluating India’s EV policy
Yamaha has stated that an electric scooter for the Indian market is definitely on the cards. However, a lot will depend on India’s EV policy. Yamaha expects the EV policy to have special schemes that will facilitate faster adoption of EV technology. The policy should also have dedicated provisions that will encourage rapid development of EV infrastructure.
According to Ravinder Singh, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, India Yamaha Motor, the company is already working on developing an all-new electric two wheeler platform. This will be utilized in India as well as several other global markets. Yamaha already sells the EC-05 electric scooter in Taiwan. It has been developed in collaboration with Taiwan-based Gogoro Inc.
Yamaha E01 Electric Scooter Production Spec Patent Leaks
In the EV segment, things like pricing and range are quite important. In addition to these, Yamaha said that its major concern is about EV infrastructure. The company feels that developing infrastructure is a much greater challenge, as compared to other bottlenecks.
There’s an urgent need to augment battery production, build charging stations and develop battery swapping hubs. Until these are readily available, most EV users will face challenges on the road. Yamaha said that once the EV roadmap is clearly defined in the country, it will think about launching an all-new electric scooter in India.
    Fascino 125 FI Hybrid
With hybrid version of Fascino, Yamaha is on track to enter the EV space in India. Along with Fascino, RayZR Hybrid will also be launched soon. These scooters are equipped with a mild-hybrid technology in the form of a new Smart Motor Generator (SMG) system. What it does is add some extra power at the time when the scooter starts to move forward from stop position.
SMG ensures smooth acceleration at start, providing better control to the rider. The power boost is stopped automatically after specific pre-set criteria are met. With the SMG system in place, the engine’s fuel efficiency has improved by around 16%. Fascino Hybrid will be using the same engine as earlier, a 125 cc unit that makes 8.2 bhp / 9.7 Nm. With SMG, torque output will increase to 10.3 Nm, whenever needed. More

Yamaha Sales, Exports May 2021 – FZ, R15, MT15, Fascino, RayZR

Image – Roadster viewYamaha recently launched a neo-retro version of FZ named FZ-X at Rs 1.17 lakh (ex-showroom)
Yamaha, like every other auto OEMs, has faced a severe fall in sales volume in May 2021 due to the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic which caused most states across the country to impose partial lockdowns last month. This impacted operations of auto manufacturers at both production and sales levels.
    Domestic Sales Plummet
Domestic sales figures of the Japanese bikemaker have dropped by 68.88 percent last month compared to April this year. In May 2021, Yamaha sold 11,613 units of its two-wheelers across the country as opposed to 37,318 units retailed the previous month.
Fascino led Yamaha’s domestic sales for May 2021 as the scooter recorded sales of 3,588 units last month. In comparison, 5,612 units of the 125cc scooter were sold last month which resulted in an MoM decline of 36.07 percent. The company sold 3,520 units of its most popular motorcycle FZ in May which is a huge dip from 12,298 units sold in April. This translates to MoM drop in sales by 71.38 percent.
The company’s second scooter offering RayZR recorded a volume of 3,360 units inMay as compared to 7,512 units in April. This results in a decline in MoM figures by 55.27 percent. Both RayZR and Fascino have been updated with new features and colour options and the latest iterations are set to launch soon.
    Yamaha Domestic Sales May 2021
Yamaha’s flagship R15 registered sales volume of 896 units in March which is way below 6,022 units dispatched to dealerships across the country in April. The Japanese brand recorded an MoM drop of 85.12 percent for its entry-level superbike in India.
Its naked sibling MT-15 registered a sales volume of a meagre 249 units which is a massive drop from 5,692 units in April 2021. This translated to an MoM decline of 95.63 percent. Interestingly, the company wasn’t able to sell a single unit of its sole quarter-litre offering FZ25 last month. The previous month’s figures for FZ25 stood at 182 units.
    Export Numbers More Than Domestic
Yamaha is one of the few OEMs in India which exports more volume than it is able to sell in local markets. This is mainly because it exports more models than it has in its domestic lineup.
    Yamaha Exports May 2021
Despite shortage in supply, the company was able to dispatch 17,512 units of its two-wheelers to overseas markets last month as opposed to 21,558 units in April 2021. This resulted in a decline in MoM figure by 18.77 percent.
The bikemaker shipped 5,946 units of the entry-level motorcycle Crux in May. This figure stood at 1,756 units in April which translated to an MoM growth of 238.61 percent. Apart from Crux, MT15 was the only model which recorded an MoM growth last month of 42.86 percent after Yamaha shipped 400 units of the naked streetfighter abroad. In April, the company exported only 280 units of the R15 sibling. All other models recorded negative MoM growth. More
