2021 Yamaha R15M Showcased To Dealers – First Undisguised Photos

Yamaha R15MYamaha YZF R15M is a sportier version of R15 V3 with styling bits borrowed from R7
Globally, Yamaha utilizes the M suffix for performance oriented variants of its standard motorcycles. In the Indian market, Yamaha will soon launch the M version for R15 V3. With the name registered by the company, it has put all speculations to rest. Based on sightings of camouflaged test mules, a number of options were proposed earlier such as R2, R3 and R15 V4.
Yamaha YZF R15M design and features
One of the key updates for Yamaha YZF R15M is its single LED projector headlamp with sleek LED DRLs. The overall styling at the front looks familiar to that of R7. In comparison, standard R15 V3 utilizes twin-eye LED headlights. Other changes include subtle variations to body panels. The exhaust appears to be a stubbier unit and comes in metallic finish. At the rear, the LED tail lamp seems like a revised unit.
Yamaha has showcased the upcoming R15M 155cc motorcycle to dealers at an exclusive event. New images reveal MotoGP theme, which significantly transforms the overall look and feel of the motorcycle. It remains to be seen if new colours will also be on offer for Yamaha YZF R15M. Existing R15 is offered in colour options of Metallic Red, Thunder Grey, Racing Blue and Dark Knight. Prices vary based on the colour selected.
Functionally, R15M variant gets USD forks. It comes in golden finish, which enhances the bike’s sporty profile. It is to note that USD forks are already available for R15 V3 in international markets. Due to cost issues, it has not been introduced in Indian market. R15M variant will appeal to enthusiasts who had earlier expressed their wish to see R15 with USD forks.
    Yamaha R15M
Another key update is revised instrument cluster and Bluetooth connectivity. Users can pair their mobile phones with the instrument console to access a range of connectivity features.
    Yamaha R15M engine and specs
Yamaha R15M variant will be using the same 155cc engine as that of standard R15 V3. The liquid cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 4-valve motor on-board R15 is capable of generating 18.6 ps of max power at 10,000 rpm and 14.1 Nm of peak torque at 8,500 rpm. It is mated to a constant-mesh 6-speed gearbox.
The bike has been equipped with a range of advanced features such as assist and slipper clutch and variable valves actuation (VVA). In terms of safety, R15 has been equipped with side stand engine cut-off switch. Although R15M variant has the same engine, the power output mentioned in Type Approval Certificate is slightly less. It is 13.5 kW (~ 18.35 ps), as per the certificate.
As far as dimensional aspects are concerned, Yamaha R15M variant is exactly the same as standard R15 V3. Both bikes are 1,990 mm long, 725 mm wide and 1,135 mm tall. Wheelbase is 1,325 mm whereas ground clearance is 170 mm. With the updates, Yamaha R15M variant will be costlier in comparison to standard R15. The latter is available at a starting price of Rs 1.56 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). More

Yamaha 155cc Scooter Aerox, New R15M With Bluetooth, USD Forks – Launch Soon

2021 Yamaha Aerox 155Although Aerox will be using the same 155cc motor, it will have lesser power than YZR R15
Yamaha is testing a number of new / updated products that are expected to be launched in the coming months. Additions to the list include a new variant of YZR R15 V3. The name registered by the company is R15M. This new variant is likely to be a new top of the line R15 variant, which will get sportier styling, new features like Bluetooth, etc.
Yamaha will also be expanding its scooter portfolio to include its first maxi-scooter for the Indian market. Earlier this month we had reported that Yamaha will be launching a new scooter based on R15’s 155cc engine in India by Diwali 2021. It will be the new Aerox 155, as Yamaha has homologated the same in India.
    2021 Yamaha Aerox 155
    Yamaha Aerox maxi-scooter
Maxi-scooter segment is largely untapped in the Indian market. It’s good to see that some OEMs have started exploring this space with the aim to gain the first-mover advantage. The current options are fairly limited to a few products such as Aprilia SXR 160.
Yamaha will be entering this space with Aerox 155. The scooter is already available in several south east Asian markets such as Indonesia, Thailand and Philippines. As per the Type Approval Certificate, Aerox for the Indian market measures 1980 mm in length, 700 mm in width, and 1150 mm in height. Wheelbase is 1350 mm.
    2021 Yamaha Aerox 155
Aerox will be using the same engine as that of R15. However, it will come in a detuned state, generating close to 15 ps at 8,000 rpm. The maxi-scooter is expected to get a range of connectivity features accessible via Yamaha’s mobile app.
Yamaha Aerox 155 Homolgated in India
    Yamaha R15M variant
Yamaha R15M is likely to be a more sportier version of the R15. Recently, new Yamaha motorcycle was spotted on test in India. It is still unclear as to what that motorcycle could be. But with this new homologation details out, it is likely that it was the Yamaha R15M, and not the R3 or the R2 or the R15 V4 as reported earlier.
Yamaha uses the M tag for the performance oriented versions of their standard motorcycles. The spy shots reveal that the R15M will get a new headlight unit, inspired by the R7. It will also get the USD forks. R15 is already available with USD forks outside India, but for India it is available with regular telescopic forks. Finally India will get USD forks on the R15 V3, with the new R15M variant.

Other features and cycle parts for Yamaha YZF R15M variant will be the same as the current model. R15 is powered by a 155cc liquid cooled, SOHC, 4-valve motor that is capable of generating 18.6 ps of max power at 10,000 rpm and 14.1 Nm of peak torque at 8,500 rpm.
It is mated to a 6-speed constant mesh transmission. The bike is equipped with advanced features such as variable valves actuation (VVA) and assist and slipper clutch. It also has integrated side stand engine cut-off switch.

Dimensionally, R15M is the same as R15 standard variant. The bike measures 1,990 mm in length, 725 mm in width, and 1,135 mm in height. Wheelbase and ground clearance is 1,325 mm and 170 mm, respectively. Braking apparatus comprises 282 mm front and 220 mm rear disc brakes. Dual-channel ABS is offered as standard. Expect prices of R15M to be higher than the standard R15 V3, thanks to added features, new styling. More

2021 Yamaha MT15 MotoGP Edition Launch Price Rs 1.48 Lakh

2021 Yamaha MT-15 Monster Energy Moto GP EditionYamaha MT15 competes against other naked streetfighters such as KTM Duke 125, Bajaj Pulsar NS160 and TVS Apache RTR 160 4V
Yamaha has launched a new top-spec variant of its naked streetfighter MT15 in India. Called MT15 Monster Energy MotoGP Edition, Yamaha has priced the motorcycle at Rs 1.48 lakh (ex-showroom). This makes it pricier by Rs 2,400 than the rest of the lineup.
Other than a new colour scheme on top, there has been no other change made by the Japanese bikemaker on MT15. The livery on offer in the naked street racer is quite similar to what has been offered on the MotoGP Edition of FZ25 launched almost a month back. The latter has been priced at Rs 1.36 lakh (ex-showroom).
    Updated Livery
The new paint scheme of MT15 benefits from Yamaha MotoGP branding on the tank shrouds, the fuel tank and side panels which emphasize the bike’s racing background. It also wears Monster Energy graphics on its fuel tank while the Yamaha logo is grafted in golden colour.
In comparison to FZ25 MotoGP Edition, this special variant of MT15 gets a more subtle attire that misses out on blue inserts on the tank and headlamp assembly. Instead, this iteration of MT-15 gets small blue inserts on the radiator shrouds.
2021 Yamaha MT-15 Monster Energy Moto GP Edition
2021 Yamaha MT15 MotoGP Edition continues to sport the same design with an angry-looking face comprising a single LED projector headlamp and twin LED Daytime Running Lights. Other design highlights include a single-piece seat with a single grab rail for the pillion, underbody cowl, etc.
    Engine, Hardware Specs
Everything else remains the same in MT15 including the specs and features. It is powered by a 155cc single-cylinder, fuel-injected, liquid-cooled, motor that kicks out 18.5 PS of maximum power at 10,000rpm and 13.9 Nm of peak torque at 8,500rpm. It is the same powertrain that is on offer in YZF R15 V3.0. This engine comes with a 6-speed gearbox which is paired with a slipper and assist clutch.
Speaking of its hardware, the delta box frame is suspended on conventional telescopic forks at front and a mono-shock at rear, mounted onto a box-type swingarm. Braking setup of the motorcycle employs a 282mm disc up front and a 220mm disc at rear which are assisted by a single-channel ABS. The bike tips the weighing scales at 138 kilos.
    Features on offer
Other features on offer include a digital LCD instrument cluster, a side-stand engine inhibitor and Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) system. Yamaha will soon add Bluetooth enabled features to the MT15 and R15. Since it is only Rs 2,400 more expensive than the regular MT-15, it turns out to be a very good option for those who wish to own a unique-looking motorcycle. More

Yamaha Price Hike Aug 2021 For R15, FZ FI, Fascino – MT15 Price Reduced

Yamaha MT15 will soon get Bluetooth updateJust like other two-wheeler manufacturers, Yamaha has increased prices multiple times this year
Yamaha’s price hike strategy has been slightly different as compared to that of other OEMs. While other manufacturers have usually announced price hikes across the range, Yamaha has been selective in its approach. In the latest round of price hike, products that have become costlier include YZF-R15 V3, FZ FI V3, FZS FI V3 and even recently launched Fascino 125 Hybrid.
There is no official statement from Yamaha about the reason for this latest price hike. However, based on prevailing trends, the primary reason is likely to be the continuous increase in input costs. Inflationary conditions could have also led to this recent price hike. For select models, prices have been increased in the range of Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,500.
    Yamaha Price List Aug 2021
Lowest price hike of Rs 2,000 is for YZF-R15 V3. It is applicable for all variants – Thunder Grey, Metallic Red, Racing Blue and Dark Knight. Yamaha has increased price of R15 V3 at least three times this year.
In March, prices were increased by Rs 2,700 for Blue, Grey and Dark Knight variants. Next month in April, prices were increased again for these variants by Rs 1,500. The next hike for R15 was in July, when prices for all four colour variants were increased by 2,500.
Yamaha India Price List Aug 2021
Cumulatively, R15 prices have gone up by Rs 8.7k in just around six months. However, as prices of rival products have also increased, most Yamaha two-wheelers continue to offer decent value for money that they are known for.
Next in the list is Fascino 125 Hybrid, which was launched in July at a starting price of Rs 70k. It will now cost Rs 2k more than earlier. The price hike applies to both drum and disc variants of Fascino 125 Hybrid.
For FZ FI V3 and FZS FI V3, prices have been increased by Rs 2,500 across all variants. The only exception is Vintage Green variant of FZS FI V3, which will retail at the same price as earlier.
    MT-15 prices slashed
Yamaha has made a surprising move by slashing prices of MT-15 by Rs 1,000. It applies to Metallic Black and Dark Matte Blue variants of MT-15. Price of Ice Fluo Vermillion variant remains unchanged. Earlier this year in April, MT-15 prices were hiked by Rs 1,000 across all variants.
Going by recent trends, we could expect more price hikes by two-wheeler manufacturers including Yamaha. The pandemic has severally jolted the entire ecosystem and its after-effects are likely to be felt for quite a long time. More

Yamaha R2 Trademark Filed – New 200cc Motorcycle Based On R15?

Image for reference. Credit – Moto SonicYamaha is testing a new model in India, but it’s not certain if it is R15 V4, R3 or something else
In a new development, it has been revealed that Yamaha has trademarked a new name ‘R2’. This name has been registered in several international markets such as Australia, New Zealand, Europe, and Philippines. Going by the company’s usual naming convention, R2 is likely to be a 200cc motorcycle. Other bikes in this range include R15, R3, R6, R7 and the litre-class R1.
    Inspired by R7
As the test mule spotted on road tests in India was heavily camouflaged, there are different viewpoints as to exactly which model it is. Among the things that can be said with a certain level of conviction is that the test mule borrows styling bits from its elder sibling R7.
This is especially true for the front fascia, where we can see a single LED headlight setup and integrated sleek LED DRLs. Side panels also appear to be inspired from Yamaha R7. However, ambiguities exist due to the camouflage.
Another thing to note is that the test mule appears to be bigger than R15 V3. This creates the possibility that Yamaha’s new bike for the Indian market could be R3 or even R2. However, with limited info available, it’s just speculations at this point of time.
    Yamaha R2 Trademark Filed
One thing that is quite clear is that the test mule has USD forks at the front. In international markets, both R15 and R3 are equipped with USD forks.
    Yamaha R2 engine
As of now, Yamaha does not have a 200cc motor that could possibly comply with stringent emission standards such as Euro 5 or BS6. In essence, if the company is serious about a 200cc bike, it will have to design and develop the engine from scratch. Considering that the name has been registered, Yamaha may have already started working on or already developed a 200cc motor.
Registering a name, however, does not necessarily mean that the product will be launched. Often, auto companies operate as part of their proactive strategy to safeguard certain names that could be used in the future. It is possible that the new R2 name could have been registered on the same lines.
With the R2, users can expect better performance in comparison to R15 V3. The latter is equipped with a 155cc, liquid cooled, SOHC motor that is capable of generating max power of 18.6 ps at 10,000 rpm and peak torque of 14.1 Nm at 8,500 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed constant mesh transmission. Just like R15, R2 is likely to be equipped with features like Variable Valves Actuation (VVA). More

New Yamaha 155cc Scooter For India – R15 Based NMax, Sniper?

Yamaha Sniper. Image – XIII Tips N VlogIt is likely that Yamaha’s new 155cc scooter will be launched in India by Diwali 2021
In 150cc-200cc segment, Yamaha currently has multiple bestsellers such as FZ, R15 and MT15. However, Yamaha’s scooter portfolio in India is limited to 125cc offerings such as Fascino and RayZR. Aiming to include more premium products in its portfolio, Yamaha is expected to introduce a new 155cc scooter later this year. Yamaha could choose from products available in international markets such as NMax 155, Sniper, etc. Hat tip to automotive enthusiast Bawla Kawlni for sharing this update.
    Yamaha Sniper 155
This looks like a moped or it can also be described as a moto-scooter. Yamaha Sniper 155 has a sharp front fascia with dual-LED headlight and sleek turn indicators. Overall design appears to be inspired by Yamaha’s flagship YZF-R1.
Other features that ensure a sporty profile for Sniper 155 include sharp fairing design, slightly upswept blacked-out exhaust, eye-catchy graphics, elevated tail section and body-coloured alloy wheels. Colour options for Sniper 155, as offered in international markets, include Matte Green, Yellow Hornet and Black Raven.
Among features that make Sniper 155 unique include its absence of floorboard. It has footpegs, just like a standard motorcycle. The seating appears ergonomic and users can expect more comfort and ventilation for the thighs, as compared to riding a motorcycle.
    2021 Yamaha NVX Scooter
    Yamaha NMax 155
Available in Asian markets such as Indonesia and Thailand, Yamaha NMax 155 maxi-scooter is a strong contender for the Indian market. Maxi-scooter segment is at a nascent stage in the country. However, this space could witness healthy growth in the coming years. Maxi-scooters like NMax 155 not only have a sporty, dominating road presence, but they also pack in utilitarian features.
Yamaha NMax 155 has a beefy front fascia, trendy LED headlight, low mounted turn signals, and tinted visor. Side panels have a wavy design, which ensure a smooth, aerodynamic look and feel for the scooter.
Other key features include sporty rear view mirrors, sloping seat, LED tail lamp and blacked-out upswept exhaust. Colour options for the scooter include Matte Blue, Maxi Signature Black and Prestige Silver. The set of colour options may be different for the Indian market.
    2021 Yamaha NMAX 155
    Engine options
Both NMax and Sniper share the same 155cc VVA motor that is used with other products such as YZF R15, MT-15, XSR 155, Aerox 155 and NVX 155. However, exact power and torque output may be slightly different based on the product.
On NMax, the engine churns out 15.4 bhp of max power at 8,000 rpm and 13.9 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. Transmission duties are performed by a standard V-belt CVT. Sniper 155 has rated power delivery of 17.7 bhp at 9,500 rpm and 14.4 Nm at 8,000 rpm. Engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. More
