Nikam Yamaha has already started accepting bookings of the new MT15 motorcycle. Booking amount is about Rs 2,000 to Rs 10,000 depending on the dealer. 4 new colour options are on offer. These are – Grey, White, Glossy Black and Racing Blue.New 2022 MT15 is likely to receive the same set of updates as its baby superbike sibling. Although both bikes share the same underpinnings, they flaunt very different top hats with varying riding ergonomics. Most updates seen on the new 2022 MT-15 are expected to be changes mostly underneath its skin.Yamaha MT15 Bookings OpenUpdated Hardware SpecsThe new MT15 is expected to be packed with better equipped cycle parts over its predecessor. For instance, Yamaha will be offering upside-down front forks instead of conventional telescopic forks in the latest iteration of the naked roadster. On the rear side, the upcoming MT-15 will retain the preload-adjustable rear mono-shock.Braking configurations are expected to remain identical in the new MT15 with a similar 282mm disc at front and 220mm disc at rear. However, this time they will be aided by a dual-channel ABS instead of a single-channel ABS offered in the outgoing unit. The naked street racer will continue to roll on 17-inch wheels at both ends, shod with 100/80 front and 140/70 rear tubeless tyres.Powertrain & Features on offerSpeaking of powertrain, new MT-15 will be powered by the same 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with VVA technology that features in R15 V4. In its latest avatar of the baby sports bike, this motor kicks out 18.1 bhp at 10,000rpm and 14.2 Nm of peak torque at 7,500rpm. We expect similar output figures in its hyper-naked sibling as well. This unit will be paired with a 6-speed gearbox.2022 Yamaha MT-15 is likely to see some new features added to its equipment. The biggest update of them all will be a revised digital instrument cluster enabled with Bluetooth connectivity. Yamaha’s Y-connect App has been made available across several models in the recent past. It will also benefit from a traction control system as standard while higher variants may benefit from a quick-shifter too.Styling UpdatesDesign-wise, Yamaha won’t be making any radical changes to the upcoming MT-15. It is likely to follow a similar design with an aggressive front fascia thanks to a single-pod projector LED headlamp with eyebrows-shaped LED DRLs. Other styling highlights including muscular bodywork, a raised tail section and a side-slung upswept exhaust are expected to be carried forward from its predecessor.However, front forks on the new iteration of MT-15 are expected to be anodized in golden colour which should add to the bike’s overall appeal. To offer a more affordable version of R15, Yamaha launched R15S V3 in the market which is based on the previous third-gen model of the baby superbike.This came at a slightly smaller price tag and a few misses as compared to the current fourth-gen model. When launched a few months back, Yamaha had offered only a single variant with a single Racing Blue colour option for R15S V3. The Japanese bikemaker has decided to add two more shades to the palette of this mini superbike.Yamaha R15S V3 – New Colour SchemesThe fully-faired motorcycle will be made available in two new paint schemes including Dark Knight Black and Red. These new colour options are expected to go on sale April 11 onwards and could be priced at a slight premium over the Racing Blue colour scheme which is tagged at Rs Rs 1.58 lakh (ex-showroom).Apart from new paint schemes, no other updates are expected to be made in R15S. Addition of new colour options should aid the motorcycle in attracting more customers in the country.       Yamaha India domestic sales decline is reported at 37.25 percent in February 2022New Yamaha R15 V4Yamaha India is scrambling for sales in the domestic market. In February 2022, sales fell to 34,817 units. A far cry from sales a year earlier. YoY sales fell from 55,488 units. Volume loss stood at 20,671 units at 37.25 percent decline. Not one of its two-wheelers reported growth last month. MoM sales decline was comparatively lower at 3.68 percent. Sales are down from 36,146 units at volume loss of 1,329 units.Yamaha India Sales Breakup Feb 2022Yamaha FZ sales fell to 13,395 units, down from 17,798 units. Volume loss stood at 4.4k units at decline at a quarter. MoM sales fell from 15,734 units. Volume loss is reported at 2,339 units at 14.87 percent decline.RayZR sales are down to 8,355 units, down from 13,812 units. Volume loss stood at 5,457 units at 40 percent decline. MoM sales are up from 7k units. Volume gain is reported at 1,325 units at 18.85 percent growth.Fascino sales fell by a third, down to 6,416 units. YoY sales fell from 10,228 units to a 37.27 percent decline. Volume loss is reported at 3.8k units. Mom sales improved marginally, up from 6,221 units. Sales growth stood at 3.13 units at volume gain of 195 units.Yamaha India Sales Breakup Feb 2022Yamaha R15 sales are down to 6.4k units from 7,474 units. Volume loss stood at 1,069 units at 14.30 percent decline. MoM sales are up from 6,146 units. Sales growth is pegged at 4.21 percent at volume gain of 259 units.Yamaha FZ25 sales are reported at 246 units. MoM sales fell from 998 units. Volume loss is reported at 752 units at 75.35 percent decline. For now, MT15 sales have been stopped. New version is likely to be launched in a few weeks.Yamaha India Exports Breakup Feb 2022Exports are better compared to domestic sales. Exports in February 2022 are up at 22,275 units from 20,688 units. Volume gain stood at 1,587 units at 7.67 percent growth. FZ led by miles at 10,140 units. YoY export is up from 9,560 units. Volume gain stood at 580 units at 6.07 units. MoM decline was marginal at 2.22 percent, down from 10,370 units.Yamaha India Exports Breakup Feb 20222.7k units of YD125 were exported, and 2,694 units of FZ25. MoM exports for both YD125 and FZ25 at least doubled. Crux export is up at 2,654 units from 1,682 units. Volume gain is up at 972 units at 57.79 percent growth. MoM growth stood at 53.59 percent, up from 1,728 units at volume gain of 926 units.RayZR export loss stood at about a thousand units, down to 1,849 units from 2,860 units. Mom decline stood at 28 percent, down from 2,568 units. Volume loss is reported at 719 units. SZ export took a tumble, down at 668 units from 2,464 units. MoM decline stood at 40.36 percent, down from 1,120 units. R15 showed improvement, up at 664 units from 350 units. MoM decline is 7.52 percent, down from 718 units. The Japanese two-wheeler giant has priced the e-scooter at EUR 3,005 which is equivalent to INR 2.52 lakh. It will be available for sale starting May this year, across select European markets.It is a fully electric equivalent to a 50cc petrol scooter with a similar name retailed by Yamaha in a few international markets. Yamaha has been manufacturing 50cc scooters since the 1990s and Neo’s has been one of the more popular ones. As expected, Neo’s borrows some inspiration from its petrol-powered counterpart.For instance, Yamaha has retained some trademark design elements of the original Neo’s like a pair of distinctive twin headlights in the new battery-powered scooter. As seen in the images, it flaunts a youthful and futuristic design which is very attractive. Neo’s features a curvy yet compact bodywork wrapped in minimalistic styling. In order to protect body panels from scratches, edges have been wrapped around by rubber mouldings.Yamaha Neo’s- Powertrain SpecsComing to powertrain, Neo’s is powered by a brushless DC hub motor which derives its energy from a 50.4V, 19.2Ah Lithium-ion battery pack weighing 8kg. The scooter offers a provision of two removable battery packs of identical capacity in order to extend its range. Neo’s comes with two ride modes- STD and Eco. In STD mode, this powertrain returns a peak output of 2.5 kW (3.4PS) of power and 136 Nm of torque.Yamaha Neo’s Electric ScooterNominal power output stands at 2.3kW whereas top speed is restricted to 40kmph. In Eco mode, peak output drops to 1.58kW while maximum range is rated 38.5 km on a single charge. Using a second battery pack, estimated range can be extended to 68km. Using a standard AC charger, the battery takes eight hours to juice up from 0 to 100 percent.Hardware Specs & FeaturesIn terms of hardware, suspension duties in Neo’s are handled by KYB-sourced telescopic forks at front and a single shock absorber at rear. Braking is carried out by a disc brake upfront and a rear drum brake. The electric scooter rides on 13-inch alloy wheels wrapped with low rolling resistance tyres.It gets an accessible seat height of 785mm to go along with a ground clearance of 135mm which is decent enough for European roads.
