      Yamaha Fazzio has been equipped with the same 125cc motor and hybrid technology used in Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid and Ray ZR
      Yamaha Fascino Hybrid has a distant cousin launched in Indonesia. Called Fazzio Hybrid, the new 125cc scooter from Yamaha has been priced starting at IDR 21.7 million (Rs 1.12 lakh) and comes in six paint options. Fazzio has been made available in two trims namely Neo and Lux.

      The former is offered with four colour options while the latter comes in two shades. The biggest highlight of this scooter is its catchy retro design. Upfront, the scooter features a round headlamp and centre brace on the apron along with two turn indicators on each side.
      Side panels are squarish while the single-piece saddle is on the flatter side. At rear, Fazzio features vertically-oriented taillight and turn indicators and a chunky single-piece grab rail. Blacked-out portions of the floorboard, exhaust muffler, rearview mirrors and alloy wheels lend a nice dual-tone appearance to the scooter.

      Styling aside, Fazzio appears to be a very practical scooter with more than enough storage spaces to pack one’s knick-knacks. This includes a large and flat footboard with two large cargo hooks to place one’s luggage. It also gets a decent 17.8-litre under-seat storage compartment. To avail more storage, accessory hangers are available as add ons.

      The scooter is laced with many nifty features such as a fully digital instrument console enabled with Bluetooth connectivity and Yamaha’s Y-connect app. Other notable features on offer include a phone charging socket, a full LED headlight and a keyless lock/unlock system.
      Hardware, Powertrain Specs
      Coming to its dynamics, the scooter is suspended on conventional telescopic forks at front and a mono-shock at rear. Braking duties are handled by a hydraulic front disc brake and a mechanical rear drum brake. Fazzio rolls on 12-inch alloy wheels which are wrapped around by tubeless tyres. It gets a 5.1-litre fuel tank.
      Fazzio draws power from a 124.86cc single-cylinder engine which is equipped with Yamaha’s Blue Core Hybrid tech. This powertrain pushes out 8.3 bhp at 6,500 rpm and 10.6 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm, with power being transmitted to the rear wheels via a CVT gearbox and belt drive. Like Fascino, the hybrid tech comprises a Smart Motor Generator that adds a burst of torque during initial acceleration.
      Fuel efficiency is improved thanks to an engine start/stop system which also reduces noise and emissions when at idle. Yamaha already has two 125cc scooters in India with more or less the same specifications. Chances of launching the new Fazzio in India are very less. More

      Yamaha Sales Breakup Dec 2021 – R15, MT15, Fascino, RayZR, FZ

      New Yamaha R15Yamaha domestic sales increased by 14.05 percent while exports dipped YoY by 3.32 percent
      Yamaha Motor India noted increased domestic sales with double digit growth both in terms of YoY and MoM basis. Exports on the other hand dipped YoY but increased in MoM shipments.
      Domestic sales in December 2021 stood at 44,736 units, up 14.05 percent over 39,224 units sold in December 2020. MoM sales increased 13.81 percent from 39,309 units sold in November 2021.
      Yamaha Sales Breakup Dec 2021 – FZ Leads
      It was the Yamaha FZ that topped sales charts with 19,790 units sold last month up 39.75 percent over 14,161 units sold in December 2020. MoM sales saw an even more significant increase by 159.58 percent from 7,624 units sold in November 2021. Share in the company lineup increased from 19.40 percent held in November 2021 to 44.24 percent last month.
      At No. 2 was R15 with 8,952 units sold last month, up 63.63 percent over 5,471 units sold in December 2021. MoM sales also increased by 6.67 percent from 8,392 units sold in Nov 2021. Earlier this month, Yamaha revised prices for YZF-R15 V4. This is the third price hike since its launch in September 2021. Base price of Yamaha R15 V4 is now at Rs.1,72,800.
      Yamaha India Sales and Exports Breakup Dec 2021 vs Dec 2020 (YoY)
      Sales of Yamaha Fascino also increased YoY by 36.81 percent to 8,455 units, up from 6,180 units sold in December 2020. MoM sales were higher by 3.01 percent over 8,208 units sold in November 2021. Share in sales dipped from 20.88 percent held in November 2021 to 18.90 percent in the past month. These were the only 3 models to show both a YoY and MoM increase in sales, while sales of Yamaha RayZR, MT15 and FZ25 dipped significantly.
      Yamaha RayZR sales dipped 33.48 percent YoY and 53.17 percent MoM to 5,781 units. MT15 sales fell 59.87 percent YoY to 1,756 units from 4,376 units sold in December 2020 while MoM sales slipped by 35.61 percent over 2,727 units sold in November 2021. Yamaha FZ25 sales suffered even greater de-growth by 99.42 percent YoY to just 2 units in the past month from 346 units sold in December 2020 and by 85.71 percent MoM from 14 units sold in November 2021.

      Yamaha FZ was also a top seller in global markets in the past month. Sales stood at 10,297 units in December 2021, up 22.77 percent over 8,387 units sold in December 2020. MoM sales increased 9.24 percent from 9,426 units sold in November 2021.

      Yamaha FZ was the only bike to see sales above the 10,000 unit mark while every other model failed to cross even 3,000 unit sales. At No. 2 was Yamaha Crux with 2,830 units exported last month. This was a 21.17 percent YoY de-growth over 3,590 units shipped in December 2020. MoM exports increased 7.69 percent from 2,628 units shipped in November 2021.
      Yamaha Ray ZR (2,558 units), FZ25 (1,518 units) and SZ (1,320 units) exports fell on a YoY basis while FZ25 exports increased 590 percent MoM from 220 units shipped in November 2021. At No. 6, Yamaha Saluto has seen increased demand in global markets. Sales which had stood at 280 units in December 2020 increased 125.71 percent to 632 units in the past month. MoM shipments also increased 26.40 percent from 500 units shipped in November 2021.
      Yamaha YD 125, a limited edition of Yamaha YBX 125, had 600 units shipped both in November and December 2021. Lower down the list was the Yamaha R15 (535 units) and MT15 (280 units). MT15 exports surged 245.68 percent MoM from 81 units exported in November 2021. More

      2021 was a busy year for Yamaha with the all-important launch of the fourth-gen R15. The company also launched its first maxi scooter in India in the form of Aerox 155. The next big-ticket launch from Yamaha is expected to be the new-gen version of MT-15 which is the naked streetfighter iteration of R15. Before that, they have updated FZS25.
      Yamaha continues to provide regular updates on its product lineup in order to keep prospective buyers interested. The Japanese bikemaker has added two new colour options to its naked quarter-litre offering- FZS25 for 2022. The new shades added to the palette include Matte Copper and Matte Black.
      2022 Yamaha FZS25 – New Colour Options
      Yamaha has updated the FZS25 as well as the FZ25. While the former has been priced at Rs 1,43,300, the latter is pegged at a price tag of Rs 1,38,800 (both prices ex-showroom). FZ25 will be offered with colour options of Racing Blue and Metallic Black while new colours of Matte Copper and Matte Black will be offered with FZS25.
      Apart from new colour options, nothing has been changed in the quarter-litre naked streetfighter. Both dual-tone colour options enhance the bike’s sporty appeal. To complement the overall aesthetics, both colour options come with copper-coloured alloy rims which seem a little flashy. The standard variant is also offered with a MotoGP-inspired livery.

      Engine Specs, Hardware & Features
      Powering FZ25 is a 249cc, air-cooled, SOHC, single-cylinder engine that generates 20.5 bhp at 8,000rpm and 20.1 Nm of peak torque at 6,000rpm. This engine is paired with a 5-speed gearbox. Suspension duties are taken care of by telescopic forks at front and a mono-shock at rear.
      Anchorage is handled by disc brakes (282mm front and 220mm rear) at both ends aided by dual-channel ABS. The motorcycle rides on 17-inch alloy wheels on both ends which are shod with 100 section front and 140 section rear rubber.
      Features such as all-LED illumination, negative LCD instrument cluster, under cowling and side stand with engine cut-off switch are offered as standard in both variants. The top-spec S variant benefits from additional hardware like a long visor, brush guards on the handle grips and golden alloy wheels.
      Yamaha recently updated the smaller FZ25 a couple of weeks ago. The 2022 FZ Fi and FZS Fi have received a new LED headlamp. Partnering with Gogoro in EV space offers multiple benefits including a readymade battery architecture and access to a wide network of battery swapping stations. In India, Hero MotoCorp has also partnered with Gogoro to develop electric vehicles and battery swapping infrastructure.
      Yamaha EMF Electric Scooter – styling and features
      As compared to the current breed of Yamaha two-wheelers, EMF electric scooter appears to have an entirely distinct DNA. Hinting towards its evolution, Yamaha EMF is quite like the transformation into an entirely new species. The scooter has a futuristic look and feel combined with powerful, aggressive styling. Three colour options are on offer, Dark Black, Dark Green and Light Blue.
      Some key features of Yamaha EMF include stacked dual LED headlamps, flat front apron with chiselled profile, trendy rear view mirrors, digital instrument console, single piece seat and afterburner-styled dual LED tail lights. The scooter has quite a few unique features such as a small storage space at the centre of the floorboard. This can be used for various accessories, cup, bottle, etc.

      Yamaha EMF electric scooter utilizes a mid-mounted motor that generates 10.30 ps of max power at 3,000 rpm and 26 Nm of peak torque at 2,500 rpm. It can accelerate from 0 to 50 kmph in 3.5 seconds. Yamaha is yet to reveal the scooter’s top speed, but it could be around 100 kmph.
      Range is not really a concern in Taiwan, as the scooter will be relying on Gogoro’s extensive battery swapping network. As per estimates, around 97% electric two-wheelers in Taiwan utilize Gogoro’s battery swapping. Whenever the battery runs low, Yamaha EMF users can visit the nearby swapping station to get a fully-charged battery. Overall experience is quite similar to that of getting petrol/diesel at a fuel station.
      Yamaha EMF has a lightweight frame with high torsional rigidity. It has been designed to achieve improved control and handling. Suspension system comprises upright front forks and dual rear shock absorbers. Braking duties are performed by 200 mm disc at front and 190 mm disc at rear. The scooter has CBS for efficient braking.

      In Taiwan, Yamaha EMF electric scooter is available at a starting price of NT$ 102,800. This is approximately INR 2.77 lakh.       Yamaha Libero has been modified into a neo-retro cafe racer – The styling is inspired by the iconic Yamaha RX100
      Back at the start of the twenty-first century, Yamaha introduced a lightweight entry-level motorcycle called Libero in India. After initial success of the commuter, the bike simply faded with a plethora of entry-level motorcycles flushing into the market at that time.
      Libero was a bare basic bike that faced rivalry from other models sold by Hero Honda and Bajaj. The bike was finally discontinued in 2010 yet very often we can spot one on roads or in someone’s parking garage. A Hyderabad-based aftermarket workshop has restored an old unit of Libero and transformed it into a beautiful custom-built cafe racer.

      Pictures of the fully modified bike have been shared on the Facebook page of Eimor Customs. The owner of this particular motorcycle has sentimental value attached to it since this was his first bike. Hence, folks at Eimor not only revived the motorcycle but also customised it as per the owner’s liking into a beautiful cafe racer.
      Though the bike is based on Libero, it looks more like the RX100 after the modification. The entire bike’s appearance has been changed by a plethora of updates made on its skin. For starters, the bike gets a new headlight with a protective grille, along with a pair of aftermarket turn indicators.

      Both front and rear fenders have been chopped short whereas the rear also features an aftermarket tyre hugger. Another major highlight is a custom-built single-piece seat with a ribbed pattern and a signature pillion cowl.
      Circular bar-end rearview mirrors have been installed on the handlebar which enhances the bike’s retro appeal. The custom-built fuel tank has been wrapped around a beautiful green paint with yellow pinstripes, while side panels have been painted black and grey with yellow pinstripes. Internals and running gears such as wheels, engine casing and exhaust have been completely blacked-out which lends the bike a sporty dual-tone theme.
      Eimor has also incorporated a new aftermarket exhaust with a shorter tailpipe and an upswept muffler. This custom cafe racer rides on wire-spoked wheels which are shod with block pattern dual-purpose tyres which might be good enough for a certain level of soft roading. Keeping the retro theme in check, an aftermarket twin-pod analogue instrument console has also been added.
      Engine Specs
      No tinkering has been made to the engine department. Libero was powered by a 106 cc, single-cylinder, four-stroke engine which was paired with a 4-speed gearbox. This powertrain was used to generate a modest output of 7.7 bhp and 7.8 Nm of peak torque. The bike was considered to be the 4-stroke successor of the 2-stroke Yamaha RX-100.       2022 Yamaha MT15 Launch Soon – New Features, Bluetooth Update

      One of the popular entry-level performance-oriented bikes in the country, Yamaha MT15 will soon be updated with new features. This was expected as MT15 and R15 V4 are essentially the same at their core. The difference between the bikes comes primarily from their styling and riding ergonomics.
      2022 Yamaha MT15 expected updates
      One of the key updates will be a new digital instrument panel with Bluetooth-based connectivity features. This is likely to be the same as that of R15 V4. It displays a range of information such as traction control on/off, gear position, gear shift timing indicator, Track/Street mode, lap timings, average mileage, average speed, coolant temperature, etc.
      Users can pair their smartphones with the console using Y-Connect app. Once connected, the instrument cluster screen will display info such as call alert, SMS and email notification, phone battery level and app connectivity status.
      On Y-Connect app, users can access a range of info such as fuel consumption tracker, last parking location, revs dashboard, malfunction notification, maintenance recommendations and ride analytics. Basic idea is to improve overall experience, ensure proper bike care & maintenance and possibly help users improve their riding skills.
      2021 Yamaha MT-15 Monster Energy Moto GP Edition
      Another key update for MT15 will be USD forks at front. In its current form, the bike is offered with standard telescopic forks. Rear linked-type monocross suspension will be the same as current model. USD forks significantly enhance ride dynamics by ensuring better control and handling at high speed, cornering and during braking. USD forks on R15 V4 are offered in a golden finish.
      Dual-channel ABS is another feature that could be introduced for MT-15. As of now, the bike is offered with single-channel ABS. Braking duties are performed by 282 mm disc at front and 220 mm disc at rear. The bike has 17-inch wheels at both ends, shod with 100/80 front and 140/70 wide rear tyre.
      Yamaha could introduce some style updates for MT-15, but much of it will be the same as current model. The bike makes a sporty, aggressive stance with features such as bi-functional LED headlights, blacked-out elements, sculpted fuel tank, rugged engine guard, chrome-tipped exhaust, uni-level seat with grab bar and raised LED tail light.
      Yamaha MT15 engine
      Engine will be same as current model, a 155cc, liquid cooled, SOHC, 4-valve unit. It generates 18.5 ps of max power at 10,000 rpm and 13.9 Nm of peak torque at 8,500 rpm. It is mated to a constant mesh 6-speed gearbox.
      Other features such as variable valve actuation (VVA) and assist and slipper clutch (ASC) will be same. VVA ensures that desired power and torque is available throughout the rev range. ASC reduces driver fatigue by minimizing force required for clutch pull and ensuring smooth downshifts. MT15 is currently available in the range of Rs 1.47 lakh to Rs 1.50 lakh. Updated 2022 MT15 could get costlier by up to Rs 10k.

      Yamaha has been regularly updating the FZ motorcycle range since launch in 2008. The most recent update was this month wherein the Yamaha FZS-Fi models come in with refreshed styling along with new colour options for 2022.
      2022 Yamaha FZ-S Fi and FZS-Fi Deluxe get new features and colour options and are priced at Rs. 115,900 and Rs. 118,900 respectively. These updates are a part of the company ‘Call of the Blue’ initiative and the models will be available at company dealerships from mid-January 2022.
      New Yamaha FZS FI Deluxe Variant
      The standard Yamaha FZ-S Fi is presented in two shades of Matte Red and Matte Blue. The more premium Yamaha FZS-Fi Dlx is being offered in three colours of Metallic Black, Metallic Deep Red, Solid Grey. The two new Yamaha models also receive feature updates. On the standard FZ-S Fi, LED tail lamps are the only update.

      The two new Yamaha models also receive Bluetooth enabled Connect-X App by Yamaha offering features such as Answer Back, Locate my Vehicle, Parking Record and Hazard and Riding History. Multi-function LCD instrument cluster, lower engine guard and a tyre hugging rear mudguard are also a part of the updates.

      Yamaha FZS-Fi and FZS-Fi Dlx see no change in their engine lineup. They continue to get their power via the same 149cc, 2 valve, single cylinder, SOHC Blue-Core engine offering 12.4 hp power at 7,250 rpm and 13.3 Nm torque at 5,500 rpm.
      The engine gets mated to a 5 speed gearbox. Suspension and braking are via telescopic fork in the front and pre-load adjustable mono shock at the rear along with disc brakes on both wheels with dual channel ABS.

      In related news, Yamaha India has hiked prices across range from 1st January 2022. Yamaha has a total of seven motorcycles in India among which are FZ Fi, FZ25, FZ-X, FZ25, MT-15, R15 V4 and R15S V3 and three scooters – Fascino, RayZR and Aerox 155.
      The reasons cited for this price hike is rising cost of raw material and a new safety regulation of foot rest that has been made mandatory. The price hike is at Rs 2,000 on Yamaha R15 V4 to Rs 1,72,800 while Yamaha FZ-X is also hiked by Rs 2,000 to Rs 1,26,300. The new Fascino has received a price increase of Rs 800 to start off at Rs 73,000 while price of the new flagship scooter Aerox 155 has been increased by Rs 2,000. More

      Upcoming Yamaha Electric Scooter Spied – Launch This Year

      A concept version of Yamaha E01 was showcased by the Japanese brand more than two years ago at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show. A couple of test mules of this battery-powered scooter have been caught on camera for first time.
      The latest spy shots show two heavily camouflaged test mules of the much-awaited E01 e-scooter going around in Japan. From the looks of it, the scooter appears to be more than just a prototype and could be a near-production model. Reports also indicate that Yamaha is planning to organize a media drive in Japan soon to get first inputs.
      Upcoming Yamaha Electric Scooter
      Although wrapped in heavy camouflage, the styling clearly resembles the E01 Concept presented a couple of years earlier. On a closer look, one might even find a hint of Yamaha’s flagship superbike YZF R1 with its design inspiration on the scooter’s fascia. Further, its proportions suggest that E01 will receive dimensions similar to the brand’s NMax maxi scooter.
      Though the final production-spec model is expected to be toned down with respect to the concept prototype, test mules of E01 flaunts a flat nose with a large apron which houses the twin-beam headlamps as well as the charging port. Attributes such as a single-piece, broad saddle and chunky grab rails on the floating tail section make the scooter a practical affair.
      Upcoming Yamaha Electric Scooter
      The maxi scooter styling ensures a large tunnel between legs of the rider which could host a decent sized battery pack. Other notable styling highlights include a large windscreen upfront, a rear tyre hugger attached to the swingarm, and heavily faired front body panel. Riding ergonomics are likely to be fairly relaxed with a wide, pulled back handlebar and centre-set footboard.

      Coming to features on offer, it gets a simple fully-digital LCD instrument console which shares crucial information such as battery status, speed, etc. There are several tell lights on display- one of them shows a mobile phone signal thus, hinting at the bike’s Bluetooth smartphone integration. Other features expected to form part of the package include keyless ignition and multiple riding modes.
      As far as hardware is concerned, E01 rides on 13-inch alloys on both ends. The scooter is suspended on telescopic forks at front and twin shock absorbers at rear. Braking duties will be handled by disc brakes at both ends which will be aided by ABS. There are no official details from the company on its performance but experts believe it should offer a real-world range of 70-80 km on a single charge.
      Yamaha should offer multiple changing options on E01. Or it could also offer swappable battery tech which Yamaha is co-developing alongside other manufacturers on this scooter. India launch of this new electric scooter has not been confirmed. Yamaha India has plans to launch electric scooters in the future. More
