2022 Yamaha Aerox 155Yamaha Aerox 155 is one of the few Maxi-style scooters currently on sale in IndiaYamaha has unveiled the 2022 iteration of Aerox 155 in Indonesia. The Maxi-style scooter undergoes only minute cosmetic updates in comparison to the 2021 model. The Japanese brand currently offers the 2021 iteration of Aerox in India which made its debut in the country last year.It is expected that the 2022 Aerox will be introduced in India later this year. Unlike India, where Yamaha offers a solitary variant of Aerox, the Maxi-sports scooter is offered in two variants in Indonesia- Connected and ABS. For 2022, Aerox 155 has received six new colour options- four for the Connected variant and two for the ABS trim.2022 Yamaha Aerox 155 – New ColoursThe four new paint schemes on offer in the Connected variant include Matte Black Cyan, Dark Grey Yellow, Black with Red highlights, and Red with contrasting Black bodywork. On the other hand, the ABS variant is offered with two new shades including Matte Black Gold and Matte White Gold. The India-spec model is based on the fully-loaded ABS trim in order to comply with safety norms.Apart from the revision in colour palette, there are no other changes made to the power scooter. Styling on the scooter remains completely identical to the current model.2022 Yamaha Aerox 155It continues to feature a twin-pod LED headlamp cluster mounted on the front apron, a small tinted fly screen, a stepped-up single-piece seat, a side-slung upswept exhaust, a split-style footboard and a chunky integrated pillion grab rail.2022 Aerox 155 offers the same set of features which includes an all-LED illumination and a digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity that displays phone battery status as well as call, message and email alerts. It also gets Yamaha’s Y-Connect App which when paired with the rider’s smartphone allows access to plenty of information remotely on one’s phone.Hardware & Powertrain SpecsComing to its hardware, suspension duties on Aerox 155 are carried out by telescopic forks at front and twin shock absorbers at rear. Anchorage duties are handled by a 230mm disc brake at front and a 130mm drum brake at rear.2022 Yamaha Aerox 155Powering Aerox is a familiar 155cc, liquid-cooled engine with VVA tech that empowers a number of Yamaha models including R15, MT-15, XSR 155 and NMax 155. In Aerox, this motor kicks out 14.8 bhp at 8,000rpm and 13.9 Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm.Power is transmitted to the rear wheel via a CVT automatic gearbox. Prices of other popular motorcycles like FZ-FI, FZ-X, FZ 25, MT15 and R15 are the same as earlier.Prices of Yamaha scooters have been increased selectively. Hiked amount is in the range of Rs 1k to Rs 1.2k. Specific variants of RayZR are now costlier by Rs 1k. A similar price hike is applicable for Aerox 155.Highest price hike in February is applicable for select variants of Fascino. These have become costlier by Rs 1,200. In percentage terms, Yamaha scooters have become costlier in the range of 0.76% to 1.66%. The regular variants, which did not have hybrid tech, have been discontinued. Yamaha FZ-X ModifiedHyderabad-based Eimor Customs has created a beautiful looking scrambler with a neo-retro styling based on Yamaha FZ-XDespite Yamaha’s shrunken portfolio in India, the Japanese bikemaker offers one of the best-looking lineups of motorcycles and scooters. However, frankly speaking, the FZ-X is not one of them since it aims to be a retro motorcycle when it clearly isn’t.Based on the FZ range of bikes, FZ-X is almost identical to its naked streetfighter sibling underneath that weird attire. However, a unit of FZ-X recently went under the knife at Eimor Customs and what came out, as a result, was a beautifully crafted neo-retro scrambler.The Hyderabad-based aftermarket workshop was recently responsible for restoring and converting an old Yamaha Libero into a retro-style cafe racer. With the latest FZ-X as the donor bike, Eimor Customs has gone a step further and made a custom scrambler which looks very lovely in these pictures at least. The stock motorcycle has undergone plenty of aesthetic changes to look the way it looks now.Custom Yamaha FZ-X Scrambler: DesignFor starters, the first thing that catches our attention is the redesigned fuel tank with a dual-tone theme comprising electric blue and black shades with a cracking pattern design on it. The radiator shrouds and exhaust canister are protected by a cover anodised in dark golden colour. The tail section has been chopped short and curved upwards. As a result, the bike gets a shorter saddle with a nice ribbed pattern.Yamaha FZ-X ModifiedThe seat gets a signature pillion cowl and can only accommodate the rider. The rear fender has also been chopped off and the saddle frame now hosts an aftermarket LED stripe which acts as a brake light. Front fender also appears shorter than the stock model. Another addition that enhances its retro styling is new bar-end mirrors.Other highlights such as a rear tyre hugger, an engine belly crash guard, fork gaiters and a round headlight with integrated circular DRLs have been carried forward from the donor bike. The customised FZ-X now rides on new dual-purpose block pattern tyres which should make the bike more capable in off-road conditions. However, these new tyres are wrapped around the same blacked-out spoke alloy wheels.No changes in specsIn its regular avatar, Yamaha FZ-X is available in three colour options- Matte Copper, Matte Black, and Metallic Blue. No changes have been reported in terms of the bike’s specifications. Powering the FZ-X is a 149cc fuel-injected, single-cylinder air-cooled engine that develops 12.2 bhp and a peak torque of 13.3 Nm. This motor is paired with a 5-speed gearbox.Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks at front and a mono-shock at rear. Braking duties are taken care of by disc brakes at both ends aided by a single-channel ABS as standard. Prices for FZ-X start at Rs 1.17 lakh and go up to Rs 1.20 lakh (both prices ex-showroom). New Yamaha R25 2022Apart from new colour options, Yamaha YZF-R25 2022 model is largely the same as earlierAs part of 2022 update, Yamaha has been introducing changes to several of its motorcycles. In January, Yamaha motorcycles that have already received an update include FZ-S FI, FZS 25 and XSR155. The updates include new colour options and additional features. Joining the list is YZF-R25, which gets two new colour options in Indonesia. It is to note that colour choices and features vary based on the specific market.2022 Yamaha R25 new coloursIn Indonesian market, new colour options for Yamaha YZF-R25 are Racing Blue and Metallic Black. At first glance, the Racing Blue shade may appear quite the same as that available with Yamaha R15 V4 in India. However, closer inspection reveals that it’s a darker shade of blue. The new Racing Blue colour for YZF-R25 combines a sporty mix of blue against black.Blue shade can be seen on the front cowl, side panels, fuel tank and seat frame. Branding elements like ‘R15’ and ‘Yamaha’ on the side panels is in the same blue shade. Alloy wheels also share the same colour code. New R25 has golden USD forks, which further enhances the bike’s sporty profile.Second new colour option for 2022 Yamaha R25 is essentially an all-black theme. It has a brooding, stealthy character that exudes a sense of power and intrigue. Golden USD forks look particularly good on this colour variant, as compared to Racing Blue.New Yamaha R25 2022Other colour options that were available earlier have been retained. These include blue, red and black. 2022 R25 is also available in 60th Anniversary edition colour scheme. It utilizes an exciting mix of red, white and black. Wheels are in matte golden shade, which ensures a distinctive identity for the bike.In terms of styling, not much has changed with 2022 Yamaha YZF-R25. The bike continues with dual headlamp setup, prominent windscreen, sporty rear-view mirrors, sculpted fuel tank, layered, aerodynamic fairing, split seat design, and upswept exhaust with chrome tip. The bike offers an ergonomic riding stance, a balance between comfort and athletic performance.Yamaha YZF-R25 2022 engine and specsEngine is the same as earlier, a 249cc DOHC, 4-valve unit. It churns out 35 ps of max power at 12,000 rpm and 23 Nm of peak torque at 10,000 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed constant mesh transmission. The bike utilizes a diamond frame integrated with USD front forks and swingarm rear suspension. Braking duties are performed by disc brakes at both ends, supported by dual-channel ABS.Yamaha R25 is unlikely to be launched in India anytime soon. Here, the primary volume generators for the company are its 150cc bikes. This is where Yamaha would like to keep its focus. In that context, it is expected that Yamaha will launch updated MT15 soon. One of these is a dark shade of Blue, which utilizes a combo of blue and black. The paint scheme comes in matte finish, which complements the bike’s retro character.While much of the bike including engine, exhaust, alloy wheels, seat, engine guard and side panels are wrapped in black, the blue shade can be seen on the fuel tank and front fender. This colour theme is all about intrigue, power and understated elegance.Second colour option is just the opposite, as it’s a lot peppy, exuberant and vibrant. It’s for folks who want their rides to be noticed on the streets. The 60th anniversary colour theme has a glossy finish and utilizes an exciting mix of red and white against blacked-out bits.2022 Yamaha XSR155The bike’s sporty profile is enhanced further with golden-coloured USD front forks and alloy wheels. Both new colour options have significantly improved the bike’s overall look and feel. Earlier colour options of grey and black have been retained as is.Apart from the new colours, 2022 Yamaha XSR155 remains largely the same as current model. Some key features include round LED headlamp, spear-shaped turn signals, a single full LCD digital instrument pod, tear-drop shaped fuel tank, single piece flat seat with quilted top, perforated exhaust canister, rugged engine guard and classic round LED tail light.Yamaha XSR155 2022 engine and specsYamaha XSR155 borrows much of its hardware from MT-15. It is powered by a 155cc, liquid cooled, SOHC, 4 valve motor that generates 19 hp of max power at 10,000 rpm and 14.7 Nm of peak torque at 8,500 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The bike is equipped with advanced features such as variable valve actuation (VVA) and assist & slipper clutch. These work to enhance ride dynamics.2022 Yamaha XSR155Chassis comprises a deltabox frame with USD front forks and link monoshock suspension at rear. The bike has 17-inch wheels at both ends, shod with dual-purpose tubeless tyres. Yamaha XSR155 weighs 134 kg and can carry 10.4 litres of fuel.It is not certain if Yamaha will introduce XSR155 in India. Retro-styled bikes are quite popular here, but pricing could be a constraint. What can work is a stripped-down version that could be launched at around Rs 1.50 lakh. In Indonesia, XSR155 is available at a starting price of IDR 36,905,000. This is approximately INR 1.92 lakh.
