2025 Yamaha X Force Maxi Scooter Debuts With New Design, Colours

2025 Yamaha X Force DebutsJust like the Aerox 155 sold in India, 2025 Yamaha X Force maxi scooter is powered by the YZF-R15 derived 155cc engine with liquid-cooling
When Yamaha announced a 155cc scooter in India, everyone expected it to be the NMax 155 sold globally. But to our surprise, it was the Aerox 155 that landed on our shores. There is a similar maxi-styled scooter that Yamaha sells outside India, the X Force. First debuted in 2022, this seems to be the first update to this scooter.
For MY25, Yamaha has made some changes to this scooter and gave it new colours. Making it a wee bit newer than it used to be. Starting price of this scooter is JPY 407,000 (including taxes), which roughly turns out to be Rs 2.36 lakh in today’s currency conversion rates. Let’s take a look at what’s new.
    2025 Yamaha X Force Debuts
    2025 Yamaha X Force
For starters, Yamaha X Force is a maxi-styled scooter launched in 2022. Unlike the NMax which is sold with two engine options – a 125cc engine known as NMax 125 and a 155cc engine option named NMax 155/160, X Force gets a sole 155cc engine. It is a popular model in Southeast Asian countries.
With the 2025 Yamaha X Force, we get a new set of colours – Matte Dark Blueish Grey Metallic 4 (Matte Dark Green), Matte Yellowish Grey Solid (Matte Beige), Blueish White Pearl (White) and Black Metallic Pearl X (Black). Yamaha X Force has a prominent split headlight design with a bulbous fascia.
    2025 Yamaha X Force Colours
This bulbousness is what lends X Force its commanding road presence, giving big scooter vibes. With the 2025 Yamaha X Force, we get a slightly redesigned rear section that should help in better better managing rain water spray. With this new rear section, length has been increased by 25 mm.
Where componentry is concerned, Yamaha X Force gets disc brakes on both ends with ABS, something that India-spec Yamaha Aerox 155 misses out on. These discs are of petal type, designed for better heat dissipation. X Force’s rear continues to get 4-step adjustable twin shockers.
    2025 Yamaha X Force Rear
There is a large 23.2L under seat storage along with a USB socket to charge the smartphones. A 5.1-inch LCD cluster handles instrumentation duties and also gets smartphone connectivity. 2025 Yamaha X Force continues with the same R15-derived engine makes 14.7 bhp and 14 Nm, similar to Aerox 155’s numbers.
    Should it launch in India?
Some time ago, Yamaha Motor Chairman Eishin Chihana hinted regarding the launch of NMax. The same was also showcased at Yamaha’s pavilion at 2024 Bharat Mobility Expo alongside Grand Filano. Launch of X Force is not confirmed and is less likely to make it to our shores.
    New Yamaha X Force Side
X Force does bring certain caveats too. For starters, it comes with 13” wheels, unlike the 14” wheels on Aerox 155. This reduces ground clearance when compared to Aerox 155’s 145 mm. Except for the wheels, most cycle parts are expected to be similar to Aerox 155 including the engine.

Earlier this month, Yamaha also introduced the 2024 Yamaha R15M Carbon Fiber Pattern Graphic. It is priced at Rs 2.08 lakh (ex-sh) and comes with several feature updates. These include carbon fibre pattern graphics, turn-by-turn navigation, music and volume control and an LED license plate. Yamaha MT-15 Monster Energy MotoGP Edition
With the launch of the Carbon Fibre Pattern R15M along with the new MotoGP Edition of R15M and MT-15 Version 2.0, the company wishes to cash in on the festive season. These special edition models are designed to capture the attention of a younger and more adventurous set of buyers in the country. Improved sales will further enhance the company’s standing in its segment. More

Yamaha Electric Motorcycle Patented – Fully Faired Bike, Air Cooled

Yamaha Electric Bike Concept – Image for illustration onlyBased on patent images, it seems like Yamaha is focusing on technologies that are future proof and relatively affordable
In the quest for an electric motorcycle, Yamaha has filed a patent for a new high-performance electric motorcycle. Earlier also, Yamaha had showcased the PES1 concept and PES2 concept electric motorcycles in 2013 and 2015, respectively. The company may be ready with the technology and waiting only for the right market conditions to start commercial production.
Yamaha electric motorcycle – Air cooled, not liquid cooled
There are many interesting bits about Yamaha’s patented electric motorcycle. One of the key features is an air-cooled system for the electric powertrain. The motorcycle has a uniquely designed battery case that appears to be the focus of the patent filed. Yamaha has chosen to use an air-cooled setup, instead of the liquid cooled system seen with high-performance electric motorcycles. Since an air-cooled setup is relatively less complex, it can help reduce production costs. It will also help reduce the weight of the motorcycle.
    Yamaha Electric Motorcycle Patented
Liquid cooling also has advantages such as achieving the most appropriate temperature for the electric powertrain to operate. That means heating in cold conditions and cooling in warm conditions. But a liquid cooling system is a lot more complex and requires additional supporting components. For example, a liquid cooling system will need parts like pipework, radiators, sensors and pumps.
Such dependencies are eliminated with an air-cooled system, even though it may not be as efficient as a liquid cooled setup. Yamaha may have opted for an air-cooled setup also because the next generations of battery packs are expected to be more resistant to low and high temperatures. As such, even an air-cooled system should be adequate for managing the temperature of the electric powertrain.
    Yamaha Electric Motorcycle Patented
    Unique battery case
Yamaha has chosen a unique design for the battery case to achieve better space utilization and improved heat dissipation. There’s a large centre casting, along with upper and lower sections that are tub-shaped. As the seams have been minimized, the battery case is more resistant to water ingress. The battery case has four internal platforms and each of these have two battery packs.
The platforms have fins on the underside for effective cooling. Similar structures can be seen on the side and bottom of the battery case. In addition to cooling, the fins also improve rigidity. Top section of the battery pack houses the battery management system and electronic controls. The on-board charger is installed under the seat. The DC to AC inverter supplying power to the electric motor is located underneath the bike’s belly.
    Yamaha electric motorcycle specs
A conventional style chassis has been used in combination with a trellis-style front frame. There’s a swingarm pivot, most likely made from aluminium. The electric motor is placed towards the rear. It uses a reduction gearbox to drive the front sprocket. A unique rear suspension has been used to accommodate the rear positioning of the electric motor.
Performance numbers of Yamaha’s electric superbike have not been revealed. But it’s interesting to note that Yamaha already supplies EV powertrains to other OEMs. These electric powertrains are rated in the range of 35kW (47 hp) to 350kW (470 hp). Considering the level of practicality Yamaha has introduced in the patent, this new electric superbike may actually reach production stage. However, launch could still be years away. More

Yamaha Aerox 155 Version S 500km Review – Performance Meets Practicality!

Yamaha Aerox Version S ReviewOwing to its unique blend of performance, excitement and practicality, Yamaha Aerox 155 Version S is the best mainstream enthusiast scooter in IndiaIn many scenarios, scooters emerge as the more preferred means of transport in the city. They’re unisex in their approach and have a step-through floorboard for added practicality. For folks who are used to underseat storage, scooters are irreplaceable. But scooters lack in performance to satisfy the enthusiast who craves for a little more oomph.Yamaha is catering to this particular niche with Aerox 155. This scooter has been on sale for some time and recently got an update in April 2024 in the form of a new top-spec variant called Aerox 155 Version S with a Smart Key. Yamaha India provided Rushlane with Aerox 155 Version S for a short review. Here’s what we think about it after riding it for around 500 km.Yamaha Aerox Version S ReviewYamaha Aerox 155 Version SFor starters, Yamaha Aerox 155 is a performance-oriented sporty scooter with a non-step-through floorboard. Yamaha calls it a “Maxi Scooter”, even though it has less fairing than a typical Maxi Scooter would. India has a fair share of Maxi Scooters like Suzuki Burgman Street 125 and Aprilia SXR 160. But Yamaha Aerox 155 has performance like none of the mainstream scooters on sale in India, including Aprilia SXR 160 and especially, the Suzuki Burgman Street 125.The new Aerox 155 Version S is offered in two colours only – Racing Blue and Silver. Both colours command a price tag of Rs 1,51,200 (Ex-sh, Delhi). Regular non Version S Aerox 155 without Smart Key starts from Rs 1,47,900 (Ex-sh, Delhi). The price feels slightly high for what is a scooter. But, this is no ordinary scooter. For context, you can buy a Hero Xpulse 200 4V Pro with fully adjustable suspension and turn-by-turn navigation for Rs 1.55 lakh (Ex-sh).Yamaha Aerox Version S ReviewFor what it is, Yamaha Aerox 155 is a commendable motorcycle as it is the first ever of its kind for Indian mainstream market. It is a global design with a tunnel in the floorboard where the 5.5L fuel tank is. It is one of the, if not, the best looking scooters on sale in the mainstream market. The twin LED headlights lend a feel of a large scooter and so does the overall design. The central tunnel, sharp stepped seat and overall edgy design completes that unique sporty look.Practicality and FeaturesThe main highlight of Aerox 155 is that it combines a motorcycle’s performance with a scooter’s underseat storage. Underseat space is enormous and we could fit a XL size full face helmet as well. Yay! There is a small storage behind the front apron where users can keep their smartphone to charge. Sadly, Yamaha still offers a 12V socket as a charging solution. Buyers who are buying a niche premium and pricey product like Aerox 155 Version S would have wanted a USB Type-C socket. Also, it would have been nice if this glovebox was lockable.Yamaha Aerox Version S BootWith the new Version S, Aerox 155 gets an all new Smart Key with features like Answer Back, Unlock and Immobilizer. There is a significant convenience advantage offered by scooters with Smart Keys and Aerox 155 Version S is no different. Answer Back feature is handy when you are trying to locate the scooter in a parking lot as it beeps and flashes for you when activated. User can just chuck the keys in the pocket or a bag and forget about it and keyless system works flawlessly without a single issue.Yamaha Aerox Version S Smart KeyThere is a fully digital instrument cluster with two tachometers, for some reason. One of them could have been something different like a fuel-efficiency meter like Honda does with their cars. This instrument cluster is negative LCD and is not legible in direct sunlight. If you wear sunglasses like I do, legibility leaves the chat almost completely. It features connectivity with a dedicated smartphone app showing many stats and other info, including last parked location. But there is no turn-by-turn navigation on offer, which is unacceptable at this price point.Yamaha Aerox Version S Dim Instrument ScreenOther notable elements include fancy brake levers, fancy footpegs, a side-stand engine cut-off feature, engine start/stop feature, hazard light feature among others. On a vehicle priced at a premium, we sorely missed a few features like LED turn indicators, a parking brake (brake lock), illuminated switchgear, self-canceling turn indicators and turn-by-turn navigation.Yamaha Aerox Version S Side ProfilePerformance and RideThat said, there are a few aspects about Aerox 155 that blurs the price tag and makes the purchase feel worth it. They are performance and handling. This is where Aerox 155 Version S shines bright. With the same 155cc single-cylinder DOHC 4V liquid-cooled engine with VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) as YZF-R15, it is easily the most performant mainstream scooter ever sold in India. This engine has 14.75 bhp of peak power at 8,000 RPM and 13.9 Nm at 6,500 RPM, mated to a CVT gearbox.Yamaha Aerox 155 EnginePerformance is brisk and you can zip around the traffic easily with enough gust on tap. Acceleration is addictive and maintaining 100 km/h on highways on Aerox 155 feels like second nature. Even though the fairing is not as pronounced as a typical Maxi Scooter, it still does a decent job in deflecting wind. Ride is very sporty too and Aerox has very impressive cornering capabilities for a scooter. Large 14-inch wheels wrapped with fat 110-section front and 140-section rear tyres further aid in handling and straight-line stability.Yamaha Aerox 155 Fuel FillerRear suspension is on the stiffer side, but we did ride the scooter with slightly less air at the back, to counteract some of the stiffness. Braking at the front was decent with good bite and progression, backed by single-channel ABS. Rear drum brake setup, however, felt inadequate. Riding position is slightly committed, for a sporty feel. I am a 6 ft (182cm) tall individual and I faced some ergonomic issues with Aerox 155. Because of my tall legs, I tend to sit in the middle of a scooter’s seat and I couldn’t do that with Aerox owing to the stepped seat. People of normal height might not face any issues like I did.Yamaha Aerox 155 FasciaConclusionAll-in-all, we wished Aerox 155 Version S came with a few features that 2W vehicles priced way less, are offering. We also wish Yamaha had offered a rear disc brake with dual-channel ABS system for the price. Upcoming Hero Xoom 160 will be a fitting rival to Aerox and will also achieve significant price advantage. However, Yamaha Aerox 155 Version S is the most performant mainstream scooter on offer today. For enthusiasts who are looking for motorcycle performance with scooter’s practicality, we would easily recommend Yamaha Aerox 155 owing to its sporty ride and zippy performance and to stand out among the sea of conventional scooters. Yamaha MT-09 Y-AMT Semi-Automatic Gearbox Confirmed

Yamaha MT-09 Y-AMTWith a semi-automatic gearbox option, Yamaha MT-09 Y-AMT sets itself apart against Ducati Monster, Triumph Street Triple, Kawasaki Z900Late last month, Yamaha unveiled their revolutionary semi-automatic gearbox technology. Called Y-AMT, this semi-automatic gearbox is set to change the way motorcycles are ridden. Now, Yamaha has confirmed that Y-AMT will first debut on an MT-09 street fighter style naked motorcycle powered by a 3-cylinder engine.Yamaha MT-09 Y-AMTIn Yamaha’s multi-cylinder street naked motorcycle portfolio, MT-09 is among the most powerful and menacing-looking. Yamaha calls its MT lineup as ‘The Dark Side Of Japan’ owing to its animalistic design DNA. With the introduction of Yamaha MT-09 Y-AMT, the company will offer ease of riding to buyers.Yamaha MT-09In recent years, manufacturers have been exploring automatic and semi-automatic gearboxes on their premium motorcycles. However, these are mostly introducing with large ADVs and Bagger motorcycles owing to the ease of ride and comfort. Yamaha, on the other hand, is switching up the game.Yamaha’s Y-AMT is said to be more optimised for performance riding than comfort and practicality. That seems to be the sole reason why Y-AMT will debut on a 120 PS sporty and performance-oriented motorcycle powered by the famous CP3 890cc 3-cylinder liquid-cooled screamer of an engine.[embedded content]Semi-automatic gearboxes have become more prominent in the recent past with BMW (Automated Shift Assistant on R 1300 GS ADV) and KTM (AMT on upcoming ADV) actively pursuing this tech. Yamaha has also experimented with semi-automatics before with Y-CCS (Yamaha Chip Controlled Shift) and Y-AMT is the latest iteration after 2 decades. How does it work? The whole system of Yamaha’s Y-AMT weighs just 2.8 kg and is touted to be quicker than a quick-shifter. There is an AT/MT toggle on bike’s switchgear. This allows the rider to choose between automatic and manual shifts, taking matters into his hands (quite literally). There are “+” and “-” paddles on left switchgear, like paddles in a car.Yamaha MT-09A traditional clutch lever and foot-operated gear selector are completely absent. Y-AMT works in conjunction with bike’s ride-by-wire throttle. Hence it is optimised for features like cruise control and riding modes. Yamaha has also baked in D and D+ modes which can be cycled between using “Mode” button on switchgear. D is more relaxed and D+ offers heightened performance.Over a year ago, Yamaha showcased a bunch of new multi-cylinder motorcycles to select Indian dealers. These were YZF-R3, YZF-R7, MT-03, MT-07 and MT-09 multi-cylinder motorcycles. Among these, only R3 and MT-03 were launched in India. R7, MT-07 and MT-09 are expected to launch at a later date. Probability of Yamaha MT-09 Y-AMT launching in India is pretty low. More

The high pricing of the CBU R3 and MT-03 seems to hurt price-conscious Indian buyers when compared to the Aprilia RS 457. More
