Apart from mechanical configurations, Yamaha FZ-X is likely to borrow certain design cues from its 250cc naked street racer siblings

A few weeks ago, we had reported that Yamaha has registered a new trademark named ‘FZ-X’ which is speculated to be the company’s upcoming adventure bike offering in India. The bike is said to be based on the brand’s 250cc platform which currently underpins FZ25 and FZS-25.
A digitally rendered image of the upcoming motorcycle has surfaced on social media courtesy of ‘D by Akash’ in which the bike has been imagined as an ADV. The designer, as expected, has taken FS25 as the donor model and tweaked its styling to make it look like an adventure tourer.
Updated Styling
From the looks of it, the designer has taken certain inspirations from Yamaha Tracer series of motorcycles. The design gets a slightly different headlight cluster with the addition of a windscreen above it to prevent the wind burst. It gets the same fuel tank and tank shrouds as FZ25 and FZS-25.
Other design elements such as raked-up split seats have been carried forward from the naked street twins. It receives a new belly pan instead of the engine cowl along with knuckle protectors around the handlebar, a new upswept exhaust pipe and a new rack to load up the luggage.

Instead of single-point fixed grab rails, this design render showcases dual side-bolted grab rails for pillion convenience. Another major difference is the use of wire-spoke wheels as opposed to alloy wheels since the former provides better traction to tyres when venturing off-tarmac.
Interestingly, profiles of both tyres are very different as the rear is much knobbier than the front one. Other subtle but notable changes include a shortened fender and a flatter number plate mount.
Mechanical Configurations
The designer has confessed that this rendering is a more road-biased version of the adventure bike. Mechanical specifications of this upcoming bike are expected to remain the same as those in the naked streetfighters. It will derive its power from the same 249cc single-cylinder, air-cooled unit that returns an output of 20.6 bhp and 20 Nm of peak torque. This unit will be mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Suspension setup is also likely to remain similar albeit with a slight tweak, in order to provide a little more travel.
Entry-level adventure motorcycles have been raking in good numbers in recent times with new options in the fold. As popularity increases, many manufacturers are eyeing this segment with their new offerings. TVS Motor too is planning to develop an entry-level adventure tourer which is expected to be named ‘Raider’. Upon its launch, FZ-X will most likely rival the likes of Royal Enfield Himalayan, KTM 250 Adventure and BMW G 310 GS.

2021 Yamaha FZ FI and FZS FI Series updated with more expansive feature inclusion

An all-new range of Yamaha FZ Series has been launched today. With power from a 149 cc, FI BSVI engine, FZ Series is now lighter, and features an attractive body style. A new Matte Red colour has been introduced for FZS FI. Side stand engine cutoff switch has been introduced.
New FZ series comprises of FZ FI models and features 2 exciting colours – Racing Blue and Metallic black. FZS FI models is available in 5 colours – Matte red (new), Dark matte blue, Matte black, Dark knight & Vintage Edition.
The lightweight body now weighs in at 135 kgs, reduced from 137 kgs. This would contribute to improved comfort of handling. All FZ (149CC) series variants feature single channel ABS, gets LED headlight, 140 mm wide rear radial tyre, two level single-piece seating. The exhaust system has been tuned for better sound.
Yamaha FZ Series Bluetooth Connectivity
FZS FI models are available with features like ‘Answer back’, ‘E-lock’, ‘Locate my bike’, ‘Hazard’, etc. These variants feature a 3D emblem. Overall improvements revolve around inbuilt Bluetooth connectivity, side stand engine cutoff switch standardized for all models, and style addition with the 3D emblem for FZS FI models.

The new Vintage Edition of Yamaha FZS-FI V3 will be made available in showrooms from 1st week of December 2020

More than a decade ago the 150-160cc segment of bikes was blossoming in the Indian market with Bajaj Pulsar 150 and TVS Apache RTR 160 dominating this space. At the same time, Yamaha was able to carve out a niche space for itself within this segment when it introduced the FZ.
Yamaha’s marketing team gave it a fancy pseudonym as ‘lord of the streets’ which it carried very well with its road presence thanks to its unique design. With its stylish looks and comfortable ride, it found places in many consumers’ garages. Come 2020, the naked roadster is in its second generation and still a very potent buy.

Updated Design
Now, in order to expand FZ’s legacy, Yamaha has introduced a special ‘Vintage Edition’ of FZS-FI V3. It gets the same style and DNA of the FZ brand song with some cosmetic and feature upgrades. The most notable highlight is the timeless vintage graphics on its body panels.
The vintage look is further accentuated by a new leather finish single piece Two Level seat in tan brown shade. The seat with its excellent fit and cushioning works well for an upright and relaxed riding position.

Additionally, the pillion seat has a 16% larger seating surface area, is 26 mm wider in the hip area and is 5mm thicker for added comfort. A newly designed muffler protector adds to the bike’s sharp design. Otherwise, the bike is very much similar to the standard model which in its current iteration gets a new split LED headlight. Also, lower engine fairing has been introduced to reduce mud and dirt splatter. The engine cowl also enhances the bike’s sporty appeal.
New Features on board
Another major update is the addition of Yamaha’s in-house developed “Yamaha Motorcycle Connect X” application which allows smartphones to be connected to the bike via Bluetooth. It provides various utilities such as Riding History, Locate my Bike, E-Lock, Hazard, parking record and phone-related feature of Answer Back. It also comes with a negative LCD instrument cluster panel which has a black background and white lettering and provides several pieces of information.
Mechanical Details
Mechanical aspect of the bike remains identical to the standard bike, it still draws its power from a 149cc SOHC, air-cooled, single-cylinder fuel-injected motor which puts out 12.4 PS of power at 7250 rpm and a peak torque of 13.6 Nm at 5,500 rpm.
Suspension is taken care of by telescopic forks at front and a 7-Step Adjustable Monocross Suspension at rear. Anchoring is handled by 282mm and 220mm discs at front and rear respectively assisted by a single-channel ABS. It gets 17-inch wheels with 100/80-17M and 140/60R17M/C sections of tyres respectively.
Vintage Edition of Yamaha FZS-FI V3 has been priced at Rs. 1,09,700/- (Ex-Showroom Delhi). The new variant will start reaching Yamaha showrooms from the first week of December 2020. It is 5k more expensive than the standard colour options and Rs 2k more expensive than the Dark Knight edition. More

Well, if you are Marvel fan and have some interest in automobiles then it could be the best time for you. Recently, TVS Motor company introduced a special edition model of its power scooter called Ntorq Avengers Edition which took every Marvel fanboy by surprise.
This time it’s Yamaha’s turn to replicate something similar. Yamaha has launched its most popular quarter-litre motorcycle FZ25 in a Marvel-inspired Limited Editions model in Brazil. The FZ25 is popularly known as Fazer 250 in the South American country.

Superheroes On Offer
The Avengers Edition of FZ25 has been offered in two themes- Captain Marvel and Black Panther. Apart from this, the Japanese bikemaker has launched a similar special edition model of its dual-purpose motorcycle Lander 250 which gets Captain America inspired colour scheme.
All three motorcycles get superhero-inspired liveries and decals on their body panels. The FZ25 comes with matching rims whereas the Lander 250 misses out on this design attribute.

Interestingly, Yamaha FZ25 Avengers Edition has been priced at 18,090 Brazilian Real which roughly translates to INR 2.45 lakh and is Rs 4200 cheaper than the standard model. On the other hand, the Lander 250 is retailed at 19,290 Brazilian Real, which is around INR 2.62 lakh. Other than the change in body graphics, there has been no update on these bikes either aesthetic or mechanical.
Features & Mechanicals
The latest BS6 compliant FZ25 received a minor makeover earlier this year which brought an updated front face. Its wide range of equipment consists of an LED headlamp, digital instrument console, dual-channel ABS and a side-stand engine cut-off switch to name a few.

In terms of powertrain, it draws its power from a 249cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled with an oil cooler, SOHC engine which puts out 21.5PS of power at 8000rpm and 20.59Nm of peak torque at 6500rpm. In comparison, the India-spec version generates 20.8PS at 8000rpm of power and 20.1Nm of torque at 6000rpm. It is paired with a six-speed gearbox.
Apart from these special edition models, Yamaha also offers R15 V3 derived NMax 160 in special Star Wars Edition in two colour variants: Galactic Empire and Alliance Rebel. The Marvel Edition FZ25 will surely attract a lot of younger audiences in our country if launched. However, there is no official word from the Japanese brand regarding this. Yamaha India has increased the prices of its automatic scooter range and its popular 150 cc FZ series. The price increases for are marginal but this is not the first time the Japanese two wheeler maker implemented a price hike. The latest round of price hike comes when the entire two wheeler industry is enjoying a significant improvement in demand during this festive season.

The Yamaha FZ-FI and FZS-FI are now dearer by INR 1,000. The base FZ-FI is now retailed at INR 1,02,700 lakh while the sportier FZS-FI is priced at INR 1,04,700. The FZS-FI Dark Knight edition carries an updated price tag of INR 1,07,700 (both prices are ex-showroom, Delhi).
Yamaha Price List Nov 2020 – Fascino, Ray, FZ, FZ-S
Yamaha’s BS6 family of automatic scooters which received a brand new 125 cc fuel-injected engine has been doing pretty well in the post-lockdown rush. The Fascino 125 FI and RayZR 125 FI witnessed a price hike of INR 800. Depending on the variant, the Fascino is priced between INR 69,530 and INR 73,060. The sporty RayZR ranges from INR 70,330 to INR 74,330 (all prices are ex-showroom, Delhi).

The Yamaha Fascino 125 FI and RayZR 125 FI are propelled by a fuel-injected 125 cc air-cooled motor which is good for 8.2 hp and 9.7 Nm of torque. The scooters employ a V-belt CVT. They are also equipped with Start Stop Sytem (SSS) and a Smart Motor Generator.
