TVS iQube March 2021 Sales Highest Till Date – Beats Bajaj Chetak Electric Scooter

    Image – Auto Tech Zone
Through an uncertain FY21, Bajaj Chetak electric scooter sales reach 1.4k units
Being competitive in the electric two-wheeler segment is currently a small number game. For starters not everyone is participating yet. However, this doesn’t paint a complete picture. Grassroot level efforts are most oft not widely discussed, and patterns being enforced maybe difficult to understand.
Nevertheless, the space will prove to be an exciting one as the push for electric vehicle adoption receives a timely impetus. For now, subsidy and rebate options exist under government policies if the vehicle qualifies as per set parameters.
In India, both Bajaj Auto and TVS Motor are playing the electric scooter game through flagship models. Bajaj brought back its Chetak scooter in an all new electric avatar. Its the only electric vehicle in the company’s current portfolio. And TVS introduced iQube.
    Bajaj Chetak and TVS iQube
There is no historic data when it comes to checking progress or growth on account of both e-ecooters being fairly new launches. And both were launched only months before Covid-19 pandemic rocked our world. Given that one can understand that sales plans and growth plans have all but gone awry. When sales came to an abrupt end in March, companies were only able to pick up on some activity in June.
Bajaj Chetak vs TVS iQube – March 2021 Sales
Through trials and tribulations when a trying fiscal ended, Bajaj Chetak came out n top at just under 1.4k unit sales. TVS iQube sales were clocked at 1,110 units. What’s interesting though is in March 2021, TVS managed to report iQube wholesales at a whopping 355 units. However given how logistics works, it’s most likely that both companies are still dealing with clearing the order books that were filled months earlier.
Bajaj Chetak vs TVS iQube – FY 2021 Sales
    Electric scooter market
When launched early in 2020, Bajaj Chetak bookings were said to be at 2k units. Even through the fiscal, the company has failed to sell that many units. And through the fiscal ended Match 2021, Bajaj has entertained bookings and has had periods where they haven’t accepted any.
Where development and sales is concerned, Bangalore proves to be an important city for electric two wheeler manufacturers. The initial push came from Ather, which is associated with Hero Motocorp. The two wheeler manufacturing giant also sells its own electric scooters through its Hero Electric arm.
Delhi has proven to be another important city in this regard. These set patterns can help determine that city based focus will mean that one can expect a more developed charging network in such focus cities. Bajaj Chetak sales will soon begin in Hyderabad and Chennai. More

TVS Apache 200 Modified Into An ADV – With Parts From Pulsar, Xpulse

TVS Apache 200 ADV – ModifiedThis TVS Apache RTR 200 4V derives most of its aftermarket components either from Hero Xpulse 200 or Bajaj Pulsar NS200
TVS Apache RTR 200 4V is one the sportiest commuter bikes currently available in India. It is extremely efficient in daily commutes as well as the occasional twists and curls of a racing track. It is this very versatility of the naked streetfighter which makes it very popular in the aftermarket industry.
Usually, Apache 200 owners customise their bikes to extract more out of their engine and tweak the suspension a little in order to utilise it as a full-fledged track machine. However, in this latest example, the owner of RTR 200 has taken a different approach and made more tweaks to its design to give it a whole new look.
A detailed video of all modifications done on the motorcycle has been covered on a video uploaded on YouTube by “Bigbang Biker”. Going by its looks, one can easily gauge that there have been a considerable number of updates on the stock bike. The most significant of them is the suspension setup that has been sourced from Hero Xpulse 200, the most affordable adventure bike in India.
    Updated Suspension, Powertrain Setup
The stock telescopic forks at front and mono-shock at rear have been replaced by the one available in Xpulse 200 which offer a lot more travel of 190mm and 170mm. This not only helps Apache to travel on rough and undulated paths with ease but also raises the ground clearance of the motorcycle making it suitable for off-road trails. Another major modification is the fuel supply system.
    [embedded content]
This model of RTR 200 4V is a BS4 iteration hence in its stock form it is equipped with a carburetor. Instead of the stock unit, the owner has replaced it with a Bajaj Pulsar NS200 carb which has been tuned in line with a new K&N air filter. The rider footpegs installed in this modified RTR 200 have been borrowed from Royal Enfield Himalayan whereas the turn indicators and rearview mirrors have been carried forward from KTM Duke.
    TVS Apache 200 ADV Modified
    Updated Cosmetics
Further, some other changes have been made to the bike’s ergonomics in order to enhance long-distance touring capabilities. This includes a single-piece handlebar that replaces the clip-on units on the stock motorcycle.
The front fender seems to be an aftermarket unit along with a new tinted screen visor and knuckle guards. Apart from these, it now rolls on dual-purpose tyres and gets a set of auxiliary lights. Other nifty additions to the bike include hazard lights, a mobile holder, a smartphone charger, and various body decals.
    Powertrain Specs
The current Apache RTR 200 4V draws its power from a 197.75cc, single-cylinder, 4-valve, oil-cooled mill with fuel-injection which pumps out 20.2 bhp at 8,500rpm and a peak torque of 16.8 Nm at 7,500rpm. This unit is mated to a 5-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch. As per our previous reports, TVS is also planning to launch an adventure motorcycle named Raider in India which is either going to be based on Apache RR 310 or RTR 200 4V. More

2021 TVS Apache 310 Likely To Get New Features, Updated Suspension

    TVS Apache Thor Edition Render
TVS Apache RR 310 competes against the likes of KTM RC 390
TVS Motor, the Hosur-based bikemaker has revealed that it would be introducing an updated Apache RR 310 on April 7, 2021, which could bring in small updates with greater significance. In this article, we look at the possibility of all the updates on the upcoming iteration of the supersport tourer.
    Possible Updates- Improved Ride Dynamics
For starters, it is possible that TVS might provide preload adjustability on front USD forks for RR 310 just like it did on the recently updated Apache RTR 200 4V.
This addition would be helpful for riders who like to tune the suspension setup in accordance with their ride comfort and style. The levers should be made span-adjustable in order to tweak the controls according to the rider’s preference.
Another possible update could be extracting more output from the 313cc motor, although this one is more of an optimistic kind since it is not very likely. Currently, the reverse-inclined, single-cylinder, DOHC motor makes 34 PS of power and 27.3 Nm of peak torque.
    Existing TVS Apache 310 BS6
Recent updates to RTR 160 4V and RTR 200 4V have witnessed a slight jump in output figures with the former now returning the highest output in its segment.
    Better Electronic Aids
One more crucial update could be improved electronic rider aids. For instance, the current ride modes of Urban and Rain do not have an accurate engine mapping that does not provide low-end torque to the motor necessary for city commutes. It could also result in the motorcycle being ridden at a higher gear for a longer part of the journey which could reduce fuel consumption.
    New Pair of Tyres
A change that is almost a given is new tyres since the adoption of the new rule by the Government of India which bans all imports of tyres from foreign countries. Currently, RR310 employs the super sticky Michelin Road 5 tyres which could be swapped for TVS Eurogrip ProTorq Extreme Tyres. These tyres would surely be more affordable than the former.
Overall, prices of the 2021 Apache RR 310 is expected to rise by around Rs 5,000-6,000. Currently, the faired sports bike is retailed at a price of Rs 2.50 lakh (ex-showroom). If the makers are generous, they might also throw in a couple of new colour options as well. More

TVS Apache 310 Render Based On Ntorq Design Language

TVS Apache 310 rendered with Ntorq design languageOne of the bestselling 125cc scooters, TVS Ntorq is popular for its sporty, dominating profile
Rendering artists are known for their boundless imagination and we have seen some really awe-inspiring transformations from these folks. Whether it’s adding new design elements, new colours, creating concept models or imagining next-gen variants of popular vehicles, automotive artists have always delighted us with their brilliant creations.
The latest comes from Kerala-based Abin Design, who has carried out a remarkable rendering of a fully-faired sports bike based on the popular TVS Ntorq 125 scooter.
TVS Ntorq sports bike – key features
For this rendering project, the primary inspiration has been derived from Race Edition TVS Ntorq. There are two colour options for Race Edition, Red with Black and Yellow with Black. It’s the yellow colour theme that has been chosen for the rendered TVS Ntorq sports bike.
It’s clear from the rendering that special care has been taken to retain the core theme of TVS Ntorq scooter. At the front, the rendered sports bike has an aggressive profile, quite similar to Ntorq scooter.
TVS Apache 310 rendered with Ntorq design language
The motorcycle’s headlight gets T-shaped DRLs, which are derived from Ntorq scooter’s tail lamp. The front turn indicators have been moved to the side fairing and wind screen has been increased in size to match the motorcycle’s bigger proportions.
Talking about the side profile, we can see that the sports bike’s engine cowl section is similar to the floorboard area of Ntorq scooter. Other similarities include trendy rear view mirrors, sporty stubby muffler, and 3D Ntorq logo.
There’s an addition of a curved swingarm that gives a distinctive identity to the sports bike. Rendered Ntorq sports bike has red accents and graphics, which further enhance the bike’s visual appeal.
TVS Apache 310 rendered with Ntorq design language
There are specific features that appear to be borrowed from TVS Apache RR310 motorcycle. These include the handlebar, golden USD front forks, fuel tank, seat design, and front and rear fenders.
Possible engine option for Ntorq sports bike
If this rendering could come alive and if it were to use a TVS engine, it would most probably borrow the one offered with Apache 310. The 312.2cc liquid cooled, single cylinder, reverse inclined engine is capable of delivering 34 ps of max power and 27.3 Nm of peak torque. This is available when the motorcycle is used in Sport or Track riding mode. Performance output drops to 25.8 ps / 25 Nm when Urban or Rain mode is engaged.
TVS Apache 310 rendered with Ntorq design language
Rendered Ntorq sports bike could have top speed similar to RR310 that can reach 160 kmph in Sport and Track mode and 125 kmph in Urban and Rain mode. Acceleration can also be close to Apache RR310 that can reach 0-100 kmph in 7.17 seconds. More

Image – TVS ZoneTVS dispatched more units of Star City to foreign markets than it was able to sell in India last month
TVS is one of the strongest performers in the two-wheeler segment in India and it is currently the third largest two-wheeler manufacturer in the country. Despite facing a tough last year primarily due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Hosur-based bikemaker managed to hold its ground and continued to witness decent growth during the said period.

Bajaj Chetak Vs TVS iQube Electric Scooter Sales Feb 2021

Bajaj Chetak Electric ScooterFor customers who prefer established brands, choices are fairly limited to Bajaj Chetak and TVS iQube
Electric two-wheeler segment in India has been witnessing frantic activity in recent times, as more than a dozen startups have launched their products in the market. However, trusting an entirely new player can be a bit tough for consumers. This is why many people prefer to go with established brands. In that case, one can choose either Chetak or iQube.
Chetak vs. iQube February 2021 sales
In February 2021, Bajaj Chetak sales stood at 150 units. In comparison, TVS iQube sold a total of 203 units. If we look at YoY growth, Chetak has gained 50%, as compared to 100 units sold in February last year. iQube has much higher percentage YoY growth at 434.21%. iQube sales in February last year were just 38 units.
This is the second consecutive month when iQube sales are higher than Chetak. It’s not due to any reduction in demand for Chetak, but only because Bajaj has been facing problems on the supply side. As reported earlier, there is currently a global shortage of semiconductors. Chetak utilizes a number of imported components and their short supply has resulted in production constraints.
Bajaj Chetak has quite a healthy order book of more than 1,500 units. Also, Chetak still leads in cumulative sales. From April 2020 to February 2021, Chetak’s cumulative sales are at 1305 units. In comparison, iQube cumulative sales are 755 units during the same period.
Bajaj Chetak vs TVS iQube Sales – Feb 2021
It is likely that the supply situation has improved for Bajaj since last month. That’s why we can see a big jump in MoM sales in February, as compared to 30 units sold in January.
TVS iQube on the other hand has negative MoM growth, as compared to 211 units sold in January. However, it’s good to see that the number is still above the 200 mark.

EV plans of other two-wheeler manufacturers
Other two wheeler manufacturers such as Hero MotoCorp, Honda, Suzuki, and Yamaha are yet to enter this space. Most of these companies are planning to enter the electric two-wheeler segment, but a definitive timeline is not available as of now. Surprisingly, newcomers like Ola Electric are moving much faster in this segment.
As may be recalled, Ola is currently building the world’s largest electric two-wheeler manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu. When complete, the state-of-the-art facility will have production capacity of 10 million units per annum. It is possible that Ola’s ambitious move may provide the right motivation to other two-wheeler manufacturers to speed up their EV plans. More
