      2021 Yamaha FZ-X Specs Leak Ahead Of Launch – Based On FZ 150

      2021 Yamaha FZ-XFZ-X will help Yamaha strengthen its portfolio in 150cc-200cc motorcycle segment
      Several speculations have been put to rest with Yamaha FZ-X getting type approval certificate. Earlier, it was believed that Yamaha was planning to launch XSR 250 in the Indian market. That too may be in the works. But it’s now certain that Yamaha will be launching FZ-X first in the Indian market.

      As revealed in spy shots, Yamaha FZ-X features modern-retro styling. This could be advantageous for the motorcycle, as there’s significant consumer interest in retro themed two-wheelers.
      Some of the key features include fork gaiters, a bulkier looking, box-type fuel tank, flat seat design and short tail. The motorcycle has been equipped with alloy wheels, sleek turn indicators, digital instrument cluster, and upswept exhaust.
      Yamaha FZ-X will offer a comfortable riding stance, which will be suitable for urban commutes as well as long distance touring. It is expected that FZ-X will have multiple India-specific features to suit driving conditions and consumer preferences in the country. Yamaha has followed the same strategy for its other motorcycles such as MT15 and R15.

      Based on FZ, Yamaha FZ-X will be using the same 149 cc engine. The air-cooled, SOHC unit is capable of generating 12.4PS of max power at 7,250 rpm and 13.3 Nm of max torque at 5,500 rpm. It is mated to a 5-speed, constant mesh transmission.
      Other hardware could also be same such as telescopic front forks and 7-step adjustable monocross rear suspension. Braking duties on FZ are performed by 282 mm disc at the front and 220 mm disc at the rear. Single channel ABS is offered as standard.
      In terms of dimensions, Yamaha FZ-X is longer, wider and taller than FZ. It measures 2020 mm in length, 785 mm in width and 1115 mm in height. In comparison, FZ measures 1,990mm x 780mm x 1,080mm (length x width x height). However, wheelbase of 1330 mm is the same for both motorcycles.

      Yamaha already has a strong presence in 150cc-200cc motorcycle segment with products like FZ, R15 and MT15. Together, these motorcycles command around 20% market share in this space. In February list of bestselling 150cc-200cc motorcycles, FZ, R15 and MT15 were ranked at 4th, 5th and 6th place, respectively. Addition of FZ-X could help boost sales further.

      KTM is aggressively working towards revamping its current portfolio of products, especially the ones in the lower end of the spectrum. The lower end of KTM’s lineup (up to 400cc) has a sizeable market share in developing countries such as India. While we already know about KTM’s plan of bringing a new generation model of RC 390, it is certainly not the only which will receive a major upgrade in the near future.
      The Austrian bikemaker is also developing a new generation model of its entry-level Duke 125 along with its quarter-litre sibling Duke 250. Test prototypes of both models were recently spotted somewhere in Europe. Both motorcycles received their latest updates last year with emission standards upgraded to BS6 and Euro-5 norms.

      The company also took this opportunity to provide the bikes with a few aesthetic updates. However, going by the images it looks as if the upgrades this time around will be sufficiently more prominent.
      For starters, it appears both motorcycles have ditched the looks of Duke 390 and worn bodywork of their own. Along with new styling elements, the bikes have incorporated some major changes under their skin in the form of chassis and powertrain updates.

      Duke 125 Redesigned Style
      Starting with the smallest member of Duke family, KTM 125 flaunts the same two-piece frame configuration however the Trellis frame construction is visibly different with additional crossbeams making it more robust. In addition, the subframe looks much longer than the current version. It also gets a new swingarm with a new support brace that arches up and over the chain drive.

      Interestingly, the Duke 125 mule spotted was not wearing any of its bodywork hence it is not possible to compare it with the current model although it does get a new headlamp unit.
      Duke 250- Mechanical Updates
      On the other, Duke 250 prototype was fully clothed with a new set of body panels giving it a new sense of identity. Unlike its smaller sibling, Duke 250 completely does away with the Trellis subframe and replaces it with a composite version in line with the flagship Duke 1290 which got upgraded earlier this year.

      In accordance with the new subframe, the suspension setup now consists of a side-mounted rear shock that is starkly different from the center-mounted setup of the current iteration of Duke 250.
      The swingarm gets the same arched support brace from Duke 125. Seeing the similarity between the design of two swingarms, it is possible that the 125cc derivative could also feature a side-mounted shock at rear. Duke 125’s swingarm also boasts a new wavy design in line with the conventional trellis frame pattern. Other updates include knuckle guards at front and a redesigned headlamp unit.

      Powertrain Specs
      Powertrains on both motorcycles are also expected to witness some updates. However, the nature of updates is yet to be known. Currently, Duke 125 is powered by a 124.7cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that pumps out 14 bhp at 9,250rpm and a peak torque of 12 Nm at 8000rpm. Whereas, Duke 250 draws its energy from a 248.8cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled DOHC engine that cranks out 29 bhp at 9000rpm and 24 Nm at 7500rpm. Both units are paired with a 6-speed gearbox.

      Bajaj Chetak Bookings Closed Again – Entire Batch Sold Out In 2 Days

      Bajaj Auto Limited had introduced the new Chetak electric scooter in January 2020. This not only brought back the much loved Chetak brand but also marked the foray of the company into the electric two wheeler space.
      Since the time of launch, plans to make Chetak available in more cities have faced multiple hurdles. First, it was the Covid19 induced lockdown and later, it was the shortage of parts. While lockdown issue is no longer there, but production is still on a limited basis, thanks to shortage of parts.
      Chetak Bookings Open & Close
      For most part of the year, since the launch of Chetak, it has not been on sale. The company has not been accepting bookings of their electric scooter as they do not want to amass huge booking numbers and make customers wait. Instead, they open the bookings for the next batch, as and when the existing batch of customers get delivery.
      For the next batch, Bajaj opened bookings of Chetak electric scooter on 13th April 2021. Today, on 15th April, 2021 Bajaj has announced that they have closed the bookings. In a matter of just 2 days, the entire batch of Chetak electric scooters got sold out.

      Bajaj has not revealed the number of scooters got booked in this batch. This is what Bajaj said in a media statement, “A large number of confirmed orders were placed by customers requiring the Company to cease acceptance of bookings within 48 hours. The Company will review the supply situation and announce the next round of booking opportunity.”
      Mr. Rakesh Sharma, Executive Director at Bajaj Auto Ltd., said, “We are absolutely delighted to see the fabulous response to the re-opening of bookings for the Chetak electric scooter in Pune and Bengaluru. Covid-led disruptions last year resulted in an unintended and long waiting period but despite that we have seen very few cancellations of bookings.
      We thank our customers in Pune and Bengaluru for their patience and now this overwhelming response. We are conscious that customers would like to receive early deliveries of Chetak and start enjoying it as soon as possible, hence we have had to take the difficult decision of closing the bookings in view of continuing supply chain uncertainties. However, it is our endeavor to resolve the supply chain issues at the earliest, re-open bookings as well as roll into more cities within the next quarter.”
      Bajaj Auto Expansion Plans
      The Bajaj Chetak is only open for sale in Pune and Bengaluru while the company now plans to open bookings in more cities as they expand their electric scooter networks. Plans are to introduce the Chetak e-scooter to 30 new cities in FY2022. The company expects that production issues will be sorted over the next couple of months. The company had earlier set a target of selling 500 units per month but sales have been around 300 units per month.
      3 kWh Li-ion battery
      Bajaj Chetak is powered by a 3 kWh Li-Ion battery with a 3.8 kW electric motor. Power is rated at 5.5 hp with the e-scooter capable of delivering a range of 95 km while in Eco Mode and 85 km in Sport Mode. Charging is achieved upto 100 percent in 5 hours via a 5 Amp outlet and the bike maker offers a 3 year/50,000km warranty on the battery.
      Bajaj Chetak receives all LED head and tail lamps, LED DRLs and LED turn indicators. It also sports a digital instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity and Bluetooth, regenerative braking and 12 inch alloy wheels fitted with tubeless tyres measuring 90/90 at the front and a 90/100 at the rear.       KTM RC 390 New Gen Launch Soon – Current Model Discontinued?

      KTM India has removed the existing RC390 from their website. KTM dealers in India are no longer accepting bookings for the RC 390. It is unclear if this is because of shortage of parts, or is it because the new one is ready for launch.
      As evident in spy images, next-gen KTM RC 390 will pack in a range of updates. Everything from styling to bodywork, ergonomics, frame and safety has been updated. Next-gen KTM RC 390 will continue to rival the likes of TVS Apache RR 310, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and new Benelli 302R.
      Next-gen KTM RC 390 – design and styling
      New RC 390 gets full-LED headlamp, which appears to be similar to that of discontinued KTM RC8 superbike. Revisions can also be seen in the handlebar, frame, seats, and wheels. The transparent fairing at the front appears wider, which could provide better wind protection. It houses edgy, boomerang styled LED turn indicators. Another key update is air vents on the side panels, which will ensure optimized air flow.
      RC 390 new model gets larger fuel tank, which means less stops at fuel stations. The motorcycle has been equipped with a new rear sub-frame that will ensure more comfortable rides for tall users. Talking about ergonomics, next-gen RC 390 favours a relatively upright riding stance. This appears to be similar to that of TVS Apace RR 310.

      In comparison, the current model has an aggressive riding position. In other updates, new RC 390 could get a TFT instrument cluster. This could be similar to the one in use with 390 Duke.
      Next-gen KTM RC 390 engine
      Current RC 390 comes with a 373 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that is capable of generating 44 hp of max power and 35 Nm of max torque. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with slipper clutch. It is expected that engine specs will remain the same as earlier.
      Even if there are some revisions to the engine, it would be minor in nature and unlikely to make any big difference in performance. It is possible though that KTM may introduce a larger exhaust canister and few emission related updates for next-gen RC 390.
      Suspension setup is the same as earlier – WP inverted telescopic front forks and monoshock unit at the rear. However, braking apparatus appears to have been updated with a larger disc at the front. This will ensure better stopping power.

      With the updates, next-gen KTM RC 390 is expected to be launched at a price of Rs 2.80 lakh. The current model is priced at Rs 2.65 lakh. Just like the current model, next-gen KTM RC 390 will be manufactured at Bajaj Auto’s production facility in Chakan, near Pune. More

      Bajaj CT 110X is the auto manufacturer’s newest offering. Its target market being those who would find value in it as a vehicle catering to deliveries. While e-commerce and delivery volumes are on the rise, so is the need for delivery partners.
      With a number of such companies are committed to carbon neutrality goals, the need towards an organised fleet segment of two-wheelers continues to grow. However, in the current scenario, a large number of delivery partners use their personal two-wheelers for daily deliveries. As such, it’s interesting to see Bajaj step up to meet that need. And this is where the Bajaj 110X steps in.

      The unit features a long-ish seat, and this could very well be big on convenience. Considering the need to ensure delivery boxes/carriers/bags could be voluminous, it’s imperative that a delivery partner is able to carry it at ease. A slightly upward inclined carrier is fitted at the end of the seat. Pricing is expected to be in the range of Rs 55-60k.

      The front unit features a round halogen headlamp encased in a grille with the DRL at just above. On the colour front, the bike is largely black with blue and silver/grey graphics. Another colour theme available is is red and silver/gey.

      That image depiction for the red CT 110X also has red bits on the wheels. Matte black fenders accentuate the colour theme. Telescopic front forks are encased too. The wheel setup includes 17” MRF wheels, with 5 spoke alloys. This too follows the black colour theme along with the handlebar.

      A simple instrument cluster comprises of two dials to display speed, kms, and fuel gauge. A malfunction feature is included too. The 110cc segment offering features an air-cooled 115cc engine and uses an electronic fuel injector (EFI) system to return power of 9.41 ps, and max torque of 8.45 Nm.
      Engine setup is finished in back and engine guard, and crash guard are finished in matte grey. Fuel tank capacity stands at 11 litres.       The black silencer is fitted with a silver heat shield unit. Pillion footrest includes the regular rubber offering as well as the full feet support rest. And yes, despite being a target market offering, a saree guard that’s mandated for two-wheelers in India is included. The rounded triangular halogen taillamp is positioned just below the carrier, flanked by regular looking indicators.
      As per the video reference, given the right riding discipline, one can expect claimed mileage to be as high as 90 kmpl.       2021 Benelli 302R Debuts Ahead Of Launch – KTM RC 390 Rival

      Benelli has had a busy start to 2021 with as many as three new models launched namely TRK 502, Leoncino 500 and TRK 502X. For the better part of 2020, Benelli had just one offering under its lineup in the form of Imperiale 400. However, the Chinese-owned Italian bikemaker has promised to be back with a bang with a host of new offerings for this year.
      The next big launch for Benelli is most likely to be the updated 2021 302R that has been officially unveiled. The latest iteration of the fully-faired motorcycle comes with a revised styling, new features and an updated engine to satisfy the latest emission norms. Images of the entry-level faired superbike were leaked earlier last month revealing certain details of the upcoming motorcycle.
      Revised Styling
      2021 302R comes with a redesigned front face which is sharper and more aggressive than its predecessor. The overall silhouette gets tweaked thanks to a slimmer and sleeker fairing and a reshaped fuel tank that certainly looks more attractive than the previous iteration with a stocky, overweight and broad front end. The front fascia features a vertically stacked LED projector headlamp that is flanked by fairing-mounted turn indicators that also double up as LED DRLs.
      Changes have been made to the tail section as well with an LED taillight and new air vents under the pillion seat. Overall, body panels have improved and become smoother accentuating the bike’s aerodynamic properties.

      The body also features new attractive body graphics which enhance the bike’s sporty appeal. Major ramification has been carried out on its frame which now weighs 22 kilos lighter at 182kg. This would mean a much better power to weight ratio which is expected to translate into better on-road performance.
      Engine, Hardware Specs
      Speaking of performance, it is powered by an updated 300cc, parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine that complies with the latest Euro-5 emission norms. This motor now kicks out 34.5 bhp at 11,000 rpm and 27 Nm of peak torque at 9,000 rpm which is marginally lower than the BS4 model. It will be coupled with a six-speed gearbox. Hardware configurations are kept intact with 41mm upside-down forks at front with preload adjustability and a mono-shock unit at rear.
      Features on offer
      Braking duties will be carried out by dual discs with 4-piston calipers at front and a single disc at rear. Safety net will be provided by dual-channel ABS as standard. Among other features on offer, the new 302R will come with a revised cockpit featuring a new TFT instrument display replacing the analogue-digital instrument console.

      The digital display shows readings from the speedometer, odometer, fuel level, temperature gauge and gear position indicator. It also receives new backlit switch gears that look more attractive and premium.
      The updated 302R is set to go on sale in China at a price of CNY 29,800 (approximately INR 3.38 lakh). In India, it is likely to be priced around Rs 3.50-3.60 lakh (ex-showroom). Upon its launch, it will rival the likes of TVS Apache RR 310, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the upcoming KTM RC 390. More

      2021 Triumph Bonneville Range Launch Price Rs 7.95 L To Rs 11.75 L

      Triumph Motorcycle India has launched 6 motorcycles today. These include the variants of Street Twin, T100, T120, Speedmaster. It will also include a limited-edition Street Twin ‘Gold Line’ of which only 1000 examples will be built globally.
      The updated Bonneville range will retain their classic styling but will get some cosmetic updates, new color options and body graphics while they will all now comply with Euro 5 / BS6 emission norms. Prices in India start from Rs 7.95 lakhs, ex-sh. Below are the detailed prices.

      2021 Triumph Street Twin
      This is the highest selling model in the company’s Modern Classic lineup. For 2021, it gets updated with new cast aluminum wheels measuring 18 inch front and 17 inch rear with machined spoke accents and a new ribbed bench seat with 10mm thicker seat foam while saddle height has been increased by 5mm to now 765mm. It also gets new side panels, new decals, a throttle body finisher and brushed aluminum headlamp assembly.
      The 2021 Triumph Street Twin will not see any colour changes and will be offered in three shades of Cobalt Blue, Matt Ironstone, and Jet Black. The first two colour options receive grey-and-white striped decals. The Street Twin will be powered by a 900cc parallel twin HT engine offering 65 hp power at 7,500 rpm and 80 Nm torque at 3,800 rpm while mated to a 5 speed transmission with slip and assist clutch. It gets two riding modes of Rain and Road, switchable traction control and dual channel ABS.

      Limited to just 1,000 units of which only 100 will be reserved for UK markets, the Gold Line edition gets a unique paint scheme Matte Sapphire Black with hand painted gold lining and the Triumph heritage logo. It will also get brushed aluminum decal on the side of the fuel tank and custom details will also be seen on the it wheels with gold detailing. The Bonneville Twin Gold Line will be powered by the same engine as seen on the Street Twin.

      It will gain in terms of design with aluminum wheel rims and crank with thin walled clutch cover and magnesium cam cover all of which relate to a lighter weight by 4 kgs over its older counterpart. Colour options will include a Lucerne Blue and Fusion White scheme, along with hand painted silver coach lines and a single Jet Black colour option or a dual tone of Carnival Red and Fusion White, with hand painted silver coach lines.
      The T100 will get an updated Euro5 compliant 900 cc engine that offers 65 hp power at 7,400 and 80 Nm torque at 3,750 rpm which is 10 hp more than that offered on its earlier engine. Fuel efficiency is pegged at 24.3 km/l. Brembo brakes, traction control and ABS will also be a part of the updates.

      2021 Bonneville T120 And T120 Black
      The biggest change in the Bonneville T100, T120 and T120 Black lies in its engine. The T120 also sees its engine mass reduced thanks to use of a lighter crankshaft, clutch and balancer shafts. It also receives new aluminum wheel rims thus relating to an overall reduction in weight by 7 kgs to a total of 228 kgs. This weight loss along with the lower internal inertia offered by the engine results in better response.
      Triumph has also fitted the 2021 Bonneville T120 with more premium Brembo 2 piston front brake as against the Nissin unit seen on its earlier counterpart. The T120 is powered by a 1200cc, parallel twin, liquid cooled engine offering 80 hp power at 6,550 rpm and increased torque that goes up from 104 Nm to 105 Nm at 3,500 rpm. Fuel efficiency is set at 21.2 km/l.
      The T120 Black gets blacked out finishes on its engine cover, rear view mirror housing, rims and exhausts in a choice of Jet Black or sophisticated Matte Jet Black with Matte Graphite with a hand painted silver coach lining, while all other features and engine specs remain the same as seen on the T120

      Feature updates will see a new split seat setup with comfort seats for rider and pillion with 11 mm thicker foam and lumbar support, an updated instrument cluster and two new colour schemes of Red and Dual-Tone Black-and-White. It will also get 47mm Showa fork over the 41mm seen on its earlier model and brakes get updated to offer and smoother and better delivery. The updated Speedmaster will be powered by a 1200cc Euro5 engine offering 77 hp power and 106 Nm torque.

      To be launched at a later date, it gets a larger 12 liter fuel tank as against the 9 liter units seen on its previous model. It also receives higher spec Brembo brakes, 47mm Showa forks and new 16 inch wheels while black color scheme is seen across its engine, cam and sprocket covers.
      It gets a new LED headlamp unit, switchable ABS, traction control and cruise control offered as standard. Offered in three color options of Matt Storm grey and Matt Ironstone scheme along with a new Cordovan Red and Classic Jet Black option. The Bonneville Bobber will be powered by the same engine as seen on the Speedmaster. More

      Honda, off late, has been busy expanding its range of premium motorcycles which are retailed exclusively through the company’s premium chain of dealerships- BigWing. In recent months the number of BigWing showrooms across the country has doubled and gone past fifty in order to expand its footprint.
      Post the launch of H’Ness CB350 towards the end of last year, Honda also launched its scrambler version of CB350 RS and CB500X adventure tourer. Honda had stated that they will further add more models to its BigWing lineup. Today, they have announced the launch of two more motorcycles.
      CB650R – BS6 Update & Price Revision
      In its previous BS4 compliant iteration, the fully faired Honda CBR650R superbike was priced at Rs 7.70 lakh. In its BS6 form, it is priced from Rs 8.88 lakhs, ex-sh. Colour options on offer are Grand Prix Red and Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic. In addition to the CBR650R, Honda has also announced the launch of CB650R Neo Sports Café for a price of Rs 8.67 lakhs, ex-sh. Colour options on offer are Candy Chromosphere Red and Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic.

The most significant of them being the inclusion of new 41mm USD forks at front sourced from Showa which would help to enhance the middleweight super sports tourer’s ride quality. At rear, the new CBR650R will get Separate Function Big Piston (SFF BP) forks instead of Showa Dual Bending Valve forks.
      2021 CBR650R and CB650R will continue to derive its power from a 648.72cc in-line four-cylinder liquid-cooled motor which pumps out 77 bhp and at 12,000rpm and 57.5 Nm of peak torque available at 8500rpm. This motor will be linked to a six-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch. Braking will be handled by 310mm double discs at front and 240mm single disc at rear assisted by dual-channel ABS as standard.

      CBR650R gets Dual LED headlights with new reflectors lights up your path with intense blue-tinted beam. LED taillight is sleek and minimalistic form. While CB650R comes with circular LED headlight equipped with a sharp black bezel, helps rider cut through dark areas with intense blue-tinted beam. The taillight tucked above the steel number plate mount is minimal in style.
      The digital LCD instrument cluster is easier to read. Advanced informatics like Gear Position, Digital Speedometer, Digital Bar Graph Tachometer, Dual Trip Meters, Digital Fuel Level Gauge & Fuel Consumption Gauge, Digital Clock, Water Temp Gauge, Gear position, Shift UP Indicator keep the rider informed on the go.
