    New Bajaj Pulsar 250cc Motorcycles Spied Together – Launch Next Month

    Pulsar range has remained a bestseller for Bajaj Auto since several years. It currently has bikes from 125cc to 220cc. Pulsar range motorcycles are popular for their dynamic performance and affordability. As market trends indicate a growing interest in 250cc segment, Bajaj will soon extend Pulsar range to cater to this space.
    Bajaj already has Dominar 250 and same capacity bikes from KTM and Husqvarna. However, considering the wide popularity of Pulsar nameplate, it has a better chance at raking in desired sales numbers. For maximum reach, Bajaj is getting ready to launch two versions of Pulsar 250. Their MD has already announced that launch will take place next month, in Nov 2021 – which is when the Pulsar brand also celebrates its 20th anniversary.
    It includes naked and semi-faired models of Pulsar 250. Going by the company’s current naming convention, these could be called NS250, and 250F respectively. However, we will have to wait for an official confirmation on this. Latest spy images are credit to automotive enthusiast Narinder Tandon, who spotted these Pulsar 250cc motorcycles on Dehu Road, just outside of Pune.
    Pulsar NS250 and 250F
    NS250 has a sporty profile with an aggressive front fascia. The bike gets single LED projector headlamp flanked by eye-shaped sleek LED DRLs. Overall styling seems comparable to 250cc offerings from the likes of Yamaha and Suzuki. At the side, fuel tank is seamlessly integrated with tank shrouds. Air scoops on the fairing are also evident, which could be a way to improve the bike’s aerodynamics.
    New Bajaj Pulsar 250F
    Apart from the tank shrouds, no other form of panelling can be seen on Pulsar NS250. Other key features include engine protector, split seat design, elevated tail section, alloy wheels, rear tyre hugger, and stubby exhaust. The bike has a fairly comfortable riding stance, which makes it suitable for everyday commutes.
    Coming to Pulsar 250F, the only major difference can be seen in the fairing. The front fairing is an integrated unit comprising the headlamp cowl, windscreen and tank shrouds.
    This translates into a beefier look and feel for the bike. The windscreen should be able to provide better wind protection. Some panels can be seen on sides that cover part of the engine assembly. Most other features including riding stance are largely the same as NS250.
    New Bajaj Pulsar 250NS
    Pulsar RS250
    Though not yet spied testing, Bajaj is also expected to launch a fully faired version of the 250cc Pulsar. Bajaj has done a wonderful job with RS200, the only fully-faired Pulsar currently on offer. Expect things to get even better with RS250. Overall styling and fairing are expected to be entirely new. Pulsar RS250 will compete with the likes of Yamaha Fazer 25 and Suzuki Gixxer SF 250.
    All three Pulsar 250cc bikes will share the same engine and most other hardware. They are expected to get an entirely new 250cc motor. It will be different from the existing unit used with KTM 250 Duke, Dominar 250 and Husqvarna twins.
    The new engine could be generating max power of 24 bhp and peak torque of 20 Nm. It could get new features such as slipper clutch and variable valve actuation (VVT). The existing 248.77cc, liquid cooled motor churns out 27 bhp and 23.5 Nm. More

    An adventure sports motorcycle, Triumph Tiger Sport 660 is based on Trident 660. The latter was launched in India earlier this year in April at a starting price of Rs 6.95 lakh (ex-showroom). Today, Tiger 660 has made its global debut. Launch in India is likely to take place in Jan 2022.
    Triumph Tiger Sport 660 design and features
    Although Tiger Sport 660 shares majority of its hardware with Trident 660, the bike has quite a few unique features. Starting at the front, Tiger Sport 660 gets sleek twin LED headlamps. The front fairing sports a pointy nose, which ensures a dominating road presence.
    The overall look and feel is further accentuated with the use of a large windscreen. This could be an adjustable unit. In comparison, naked Trident 660 features a neo-retro design theme. It is equipped with round headlamp.
    Talking about side profile, Tiger Sport 660 utilizes prominent radiator shrouds. The front fairing extends towards the sides, merging seamlessly with the fuel tank. On Tiger Sport, the fuel tank has a different design in comparison to that of Trident 660. It also can carry more fuel. Trident 660 can carry 14 litres of fuel, while Tiger 660 can carry 17 liters of fuel.

    Basic structure of the exhaust pipes and underbelly exhaust is largely the same in both bikes. Another difference can be seen in the seat and tail section of Tiger Sport. As compared to Trident 660, Tiger Sport has a longer seat with more space for the rider. The seat appears to be more comfy, as compared to that of Trident.
    Overall ergonomics have been tweaked to make Tiger Sport more suitable for long distance journeys. While Trident has a forward leaning riding stance, things are more upright with Tiger Sport. Making it possible are the centrally placed foot pegs and raised, wide handlebars.
    At the rear, Tiger Sport 660 has an elevated tail section with a narrow strip for mounting the number plate. In comparison, the number plate on Trident 660 is mounted on the swingarm linked tyre hugger unit.

    Triumph Tiger Sport 660 engine
    Tiger 660 is powered by the same engine, as on offer with Trident 660. Even the max output specs are same. Triumph Trident 660 is powered by a 660cc liquid cooled, 12 valve, DOHC, inline 3-cylinder motor that is capable of producing 80 bhp of max power at 10,250 rpm and 64 Nm of peak torque at 6,250 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed transmission. The bike is equipped with slip and assist clutch, which significantly reduces rider fatigue.
    The tubular steel perimeter frame on Tiger Sport looks the same as that of Trident. However, Tiger Sport seems to have an additional sub-frame at the rear. This is likely needed to support the weight of panniers and cargo at the rear.

    Other hardware components such as suspension and braking system are the same as that of Trident 660.     2021 KTM RC 125 Homologated – India Launch Teaser Out

    KTM unveiled its new range of RC earlier this month. These models will go on sale in the coming few weeks globally. India launch is expected soon. KTM India has homologated the new gen RC 125 in the country. While the launch has also been teased via their official social media account.
    On a cumulative basis, all three bikes- RC 125, RC 200 and RC 390, have undergone significant updates both over and underneath their skin. For a refreshing change, all three fully-faired motorcycles now look familiar to each other.
    As we already know, bookings for all three motorcycles have commenced at several dealerships across the country. Series production of the bikes has reportedly begun at Bajaj Auto’s Chakan-based manufacturing facility. With all details out, barring prices, we aim to discuss the series of updates witnessed on all three bikes.
    Updated Framework
    For starters, all three RC models are now underpinned by a new framework which is lighter by 1.5kg. The new architecture utilises a trellis frame and a bolt-on rear subframe which gives the motorcycles improved high-speed stability and increased rider feel. All three bikes now boast the same suspension setup comprising 43mm USD forks at front and a mono-shock unit at rear with a braced alloy swingarm. Both units are sourced from WP Apex and offer preload adjustability.
    New Gen KTM RC Launch Soon
    All three entry-level RC motorcycles also get the same braking hardware which consists of a 320mm disc up front and a 230mm rotor at rear chewed down by a 4-piston BYBRE calipers at front and a single-piston caliper at rear. This gives the brakes a sharper bite. Even though larger, the new discs reduce weight by 960 grams.
    The sports bikes ride on newly designed alloy wheels with fewer spokes and open hubs which not only improves handling but also reduces 3.4 kilos from RC 125 and RC 390 and 1kg from RC 200. Dual-channel ABS is offered as standard across the lineup to complement the anchorage.
    Overhauled Design
    In terms of design, all three bikes now get a revised front face with a new single LED headlamp flanked by LED DRLs and turn indicators on both sides. Other styling updates include a more muscular fuel tank, redesigned front fairing, a revised tail section and new body graphics. The new-gen RC models look more aerodynamic in nature thanks to the wider fairings.
    New Gen KTM RC 125 Homologated In India
    It is further enhanced with the presence of air vents on the side panels which ensure optimized airflow. The only difference among the three occurs in RC 200 which unlike the other two models gets an underbelly exhaust instead of a side-on upswept exhaust.
    A further distinction between the models is created with new colour options offered with the updated RC range. The entry-level RC 125 will be offered in two paint schemes- first Black with Orange highlights and second White with Orange highlights. Colour options on RC 200 will include White / Orange and Black / Orange while colour options of Blue / Orange shade will be limited to the new-gen RC390 only.
    New KTM RC 125
    Same set of engines, more oomph
    While all three motorcycles are powered by the same engine as their predecessors, KTM has made some improvements to the powertrain department. For instance, the 373cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine in RC 390 delivers the same power at 44 bhp but greater peak torque of 37 Nm, thanks to a larger airbox. This has also resulted in a higher top speed which has been increased by 11 kmph.
    Moreover, enhancements like ultra-hard carbon coated cam levers and improved engine cooling have resulted in faster acceleration and higher torque delivery. RC 125 continues to derive its energy via a 124.7cc, single-cylinder engine offering 14.5 and 12 Nm of peak torque.     Top 10 Motorcycles 150cc To 200cc Aug 2021 – Pulsar, Apache, R15, MT15, KTM

    The sporty commuter segment of motorcycles with engine displacement between 150cc and 200cc has been a very happening space in the Indian two-wheeler market for more than a decade and a half. It is also a very crowded space with multiple offerings from almost every auto manufacturer.
    A total of 79,972 units of motorcycles from this category were dispatched by OEMs in August this year. This figure was lower than the monthly sales volume recorded in July 2021 as well as August 2020 with 1,18,581 units and 1,46,556 units sold respectively. This resulted in MoM and YoY decline 32.56 percent and 45.43 percent.
    Motorcycles 150cc To 200cc Aug 2021 – Pulsar, Apache Lead Segment
    The segment was led by Pulsar brand of motorcycles from Bajaj with a total sales volume of 28,927 units last month. In August last year, Bajaj sold 38,151 units of Pulsar bikes resulting in YoY growth of 24.18 percent. With 26,943 units of Pulsar sold in July this year, an MoM growth of 7.36 percent was recorded.
    Pulsar was trailed by its arch-nemesis Apache from TVS at the second spot with 16,423 units dispatched to dealerships last month. Apache registered a decline in MoM as well as YoY figures by 39.82 percent and 51 percent.

    Yamaha R15 witnessed jump in sales volume
    Yamaha R15, which recently received a generation upgrade, jumped up to third place with 9,590 units sold last month. The entry-level sports bike registered a YoY growth of 75.51 percent and an MoM growth of 31.73 percent.
    R15 was followed by another Yamaha prodigy- FZ with 7,608 units sold last month. The Pulsar 150 rival registered an MoM and YoY decline of 57.89 percent and 57.42 percent respectively. Honda broke into the list with Unicorn 160 at the sixth spot. With a recorded sales volume of 5,679 units in August this year, Unicorn witnessed a massive YoY decline of 80.71 percent and an MoM decline of 73.87 percent.
    Avenger, MT-15, KTM 200 witness fall in sales
    Hero MotoCorp managed to sell 3,344 units of Xtreme 160R last month in comparison to 2,302 units dispatched in July this year. An MoM growth of 45.26 percent was recorded. Bajaj retailed 2,110 units of Avenger 150 Street in August this year which was 244 units more than the sales volume in July which translates to MoM growth of 13 percent. However, in comparison to August 2020, a decline of 54.57 percent was recorded.

    Yamaha dispatched 1,752 units of MT-15 in August this year. The naked street version of R15 registered YoY degrowth of 57.77 percent and an MoM decline of 67 percent.     Yamaha has launched the new generation R15 in India which has been officially named YZF R15 V4. The latest iteration of the entry-level supersport bike has got some serious styling updates over the outgoing model and also some crucial mechanical updates which make it sportier not just in looks but character as well.
    2021 Yamaha R15 V4 And R15M – Colours and Prices
    The new-gen R15 has also got a new range-topping M trim which bags some extra goodies as compared to the standard variant. It has also received some interesting colour schemes which lend the bike a fresh appeal. The new-gen model started arriving at dealerships across the country last month itself.
    2021 Yamaha R15 V4 and R15M
    2021 R15 V4 is available in three colour options of Metallic Red, Dark Knight and Racing Blue. Prices are Rs 1.68 lakh, Rs 1.69 lakh, and Rs 1.73 lakh, ex-sh. The R15M variant is offered in Silver with Blue accents. It is priced at Rs 1.78 lakh, ex-sh. There is a limited edition Monster MotoGP version in Black, which is priced at Rs Rs 1.8 lakh.     Updated Design
    The new R15 visibly takes styling inspiration from the larger and more powerful middle-weight supersport R7. This includes a redesigned front end with a revised front apron featuring a new single beam LED projector headlight flanked by LED DRLs on both sides.

    It is a stark departure from the outgoing model’s dual-beam headlights. Further, Yamaha has also installed new body panels on the new R15. Other styling details include a redesigned tail section, revised fairings and a muscular fuel tank. New body graphics also enhance the bike’s sporty appeal. These include a special livery inspired by MotoGP Edition Monster Energy branding flashed across the front apron.
    The exhaust muffler appears to be stubbier than the one in its predecessor and gets a metallic finish. Due to the revised exhaust setup, footpegs for the pillion also have been repositioned. Colour-coded alloy wheels are another aesthetic addition in the new-gen R15 which accentuates its sporty credentials.
    Updated Mechanicals, Features
    Yamaha has finally heard the prayers of all biking enthusiasts from India and given the new-gen R15 a pair of golden-coloured USD forks upfront. Rear suspension duties are handled by a mono-shock unit. Stopping duties are taken care of by disc brakes at both ends complemented by dual-channel ABS as standard. Other new features include a revised fully digital LCD instrument console enabled by Yamaha’s Y-Connect connectivity feature and Bluetooth.

    It seems Classic Legends have taken upon itself to revive iconic yesteryear motorcycle brands that have been left defunct for many years. They have sucessfully revived the Jawa brand with launch of two motorcycles. Next, they have plans to revive BSA and Yezdi brands. Of the two, BSA will focus on export markets like UK, while Yezdi will be launched in India.
    Motorcycles Under Yezdi Brand
    Earlier this year in March, the first test mule was spotted which is believed to be of the upcoming Yezdi Roadking. The same test mule has now been spotted by automotive enthusiast Shreya Patil and Abhijit Patil on the Mumbai – Pune highway. But along with the Roadking, another test mule has been spotted alongside. This one looks like a ADV motorcycle, which will rival the likes of Royal Enfield Himalayan.

    New Yezdi ADV motorcycle features an upright riding stance, spoked wheels, bigger front wheel, wider rear tyre, round headlamps, mountings to accommodate off-road accessories / panniers near the fuel tank as well as at the rear seat, digital instrument cluster, high ground clearance, front and rear disc brake with dual ABS, etc.
    Roadking test mule on the other hand, is being developed on the same lines as a scrambler. The bike could also sport the LED lighting at the front and rear, a digital console and dual channel ABS with raked telescopic front forks and front and rear disc brakes.     Other features could include twin black gas shock absorbers, spoked wheels and circular shaped rear view mirrors. As seen on other scramblers in its segment, the new Jawa model could also receive tall set handlebars and rear set footpegs for a more upright riding stance. Colour options could include Grey, Maroon, Black.
    It is being speculated that Yezdi bikes will undercut their Jawa cousins which can leave a big impact on the modern retro motorcycle segment in India. The new Yezdi bikes can share several commonalities with its Czech counterparts like engine and platforms in order to keep production costs in check. It is also a possibility that both ranges of motorcycles are retailed under the same roof.
    The upcoming Yezdi motorcycles could be powered by the same engine which is on offer with Jawa motorcycles. This is in the form of 300cc single cylinder unit on offer with the Jawa and 42. It may also be powered by a larger 334cc engine that powers the Perak making 30 hp power. Both these engines will get mated to a 6 speed manual as standard.
    2022 Yezdi Roadking
    Legacy of Yezdi
    Yezdi was a famous motorcycle brand back in the 1970s and 80s which was developed by Ideal Jawa (India) Limited. The Mysore-based company sold licensed Jawa motorcycles in India from 1960 which was rebranded into Yezdi in 1973. The range offered under this brand consisted of models such as Monarch, CL 2, Roadking and 350 which were based on older two-stroke Jawa bikes. The motorcycles were discontinued in mid-1990s due to the arrival of stricter emission norms.
    If previous reports are also to be considered then Classic Legends might also develop and manufacture an electric motorcycle under the Yezdi moniker. With retro middleweight motorcycles being the talk of the town in recent times, manufacturers have realised that this segment might give them good returns in the long run. More

    Yamaha had showcased the Aerox 155cc scooter in India back in 2018. But at that time they decided not to launch as it did not get the expected response. But it is 2021, and demand for maxi-scooters is on the rise.
    Yamaha will be expanding its scooter lineup in India by launching Aerox 155 tomorrow. As per the latest teaser shared by Yamaha India, they will launch their new Maxi Sports scooter on 21st Sep, tomorrow. Interestingly, tomorrow is also the day Yamaha will launch the new R15 V4 and the R15M.
    Yamaha Aerox 155cc Scooter Launch Teaser
    The 155cc scooter will be the first Maxi-style offering from the Japanese bikemaker on Indian soil. The Maxi segment of scooters is clearly an untapped space in the country presently with the only notable offering in this category being Aprilia SXR 160.
    Yamaha has already homologated the upcoming Aerox 155 and its type approval documents revealed a few crucial details about the scooter. Aerox will be the third model from the Japanese automaker to offer the much-loved 155cc VVA motor which also powers YZF R15 and MT-15.
    Yamaha India Launch Teaser Of New Maxi Sports Scooter – Aerox 155cc
    The scooter is already available for retail in a few Southeast Asian markets including Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand. Yamaha a few months ago, during the launch of FZ-X, had revealed that its focus will be on the premium segment of two-wheelers with a variety of models between 150cc and 250cc. Aerox will cater to the demands of a niche segment of buyers who want a scooter with performance, a unique design as well as class-leading features.
    Design & Specs
    In terms of styling, 2021 Aerox 155 currently on sale in Indonesia includes a twin LED headlight setup consisting of LED DRLs and an updated LED tail lamp. It is, however, not a full-fledged Maxi scooter and only borrows the design aspect from the premium segment of scooters. Even though it is powered by a very potent 155cc motor, its output figures are simply not enough to classify it as a true Maxi scooter.
    Nevertheless, the single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor will pump out 14.75 bhp in the India-spec model which is a tad less than the iterations sold in Thailand and Indonesia. This mainly has to do with stricter emission norms in our country. In terms of proportions, the new Aerox 155 will measure 1980 mm in length, 700 mm in width, and 1150 mm in height. Wheelbase on offer is 1350mm.

    Features on offer
    As far as features go, Aerox is equipped with a digital instrument console which is enabled with connectivity modules such as Bluetooth and Yamaha’s Y-Connect smartphone app. The latter allows riders to pair their smartphones with the scooter in order to receive a host of information including error codes, service schedules and last parking location.
    Other feature highlights include hazard lights, keyless entry, engine start/stop, LED headlight and taillight, and a 25-litre storage capacity under the seat which can be accessed by a remote locking button. Suspension duties are carried out by conventional telescopic forks in front and twin remote reservoir shock absorbers at rear.     After a host of teaser videos being released, TVS Motor Company has officially launched the new Raider 125 motorcycle in India. This sport-commuter bike adds to the ever increasing list of 125cc bikes in the country. It will be offered as a capable competitor to the Honda CB Shine, Bajaj Pulsar 125, Bajaj Discover 125 and Hero Super Splendor in the Indian market.
    Sporty Styling
    The new TVS Raider 125cc is priced at Rs 77,500 (Ex-Delhi). At this price, it is about Rs 5k more expensive than the Hero Super Splendor, while it is about Rs 1k cheaper than the Bajaj Pulsar 125 and almost Rs 23k cheaper than Pulsar NS 125. In the company line-up, the new Raider is positioned between Radeon 110 and the Apache RTR 160 4V.
    Being a new gen motorcycle, it shares some features with the Apache series. Raider gets all LED head and tail lamps along with LED DRLs. It also sports a fully digital instrument cluster with tachometer, gear position indicator along with speedometer, fuel gauge and clock. It also gets TVS Bluetooth connected features.
    Sporty accents extend to a muscular fuel tank, sharp belly pan and split seats. TVS Raider 125cc is being presented in four colour options of Blue, Red, Yellow, and Black but with a dual tone finish with black colour on its tank shrouds.
    TVS Raider 125cc
    TVS Raider 125 is positioned on a 1,326mm wheelbase and rides on 17 inch alloy wheels at the front and rear. It gets a 10 liter fuel tank while kerb weight is at 123 kgs. Fuel efficiency is pegged at 67 km/l, thanks to ET Fi. A segment-first for a 125cc motorcycle in India, TVS Raider 125 comes in with two ride modes of Eco and Power. Eco mode will relate to better fuel efficiency while Power mode is for fun.
    Engine, Suspension and Braking
    TVS Raider 125 is powered by a 14.8cc, three valve, air cooled engine offering 11.4 hp power at 7,500 rpm and 11.2 Nm torque at 6,000 rpm. The engine gets mated to a 5 speed gearbox. Suspension is carried out via telescopic fork in the front and gas charged 5 step preload adjustable monoshock at the rear while braking is by a 240mm disc set up in front and 130mm drum at the rear.
