    Yamaha R15 goes up against other entry-level sports bikes such as Suzuki Gixxer SF and the upcoming KTM RC 125
    Yamaha has launched the new generation R15 in India which has been officially named YZF R15 V4. The latest iteration of the entry-level supersport bike has got some serious styling updates over the outgoing model and also some crucial mechanical updates which make it sportier not just in looks but character as well.

    The new-gen R15 has also got a new range-topping M trim which bags some extra goodies as compared to the standard variant. It has also received some interesting colour schemes which lend the bike a fresh appeal. The new-gen model started arriving at dealerships across the country last month itself.
    2021 Yamaha R15 V4 and R15M
    2021 R15 V4 is available in three colour options of Metallic Red, Dark Knight and Racing Blue. Prices are Rs 1.68 lakh, Rs 1.69 lakh, and Rs 1.73 lakh, ex-sh. The R15M variant is offered in Silver with Blue accents. It is priced at Rs 1.78 lakh, ex-sh. There is a limited edition Monster MotoGP version in Black, which is priced at Rs Rs 1.8 lakh.     Updated Design
    The new R15 visibly takes styling inspiration from the larger and more powerful middle-weight supersport R7. This includes a redesigned front end with a revised front apron featuring a new single beam LED projector headlight flanked by LED DRLs on both sides.

    It is a stark departure from the outgoing model’s dual-beam headlights. Further, Yamaha has also installed new body panels on the new R15. Other styling details include a redesigned tail section, revised fairings and a muscular fuel tank. New body graphics also enhance the bike’s sporty appeal. These include a special livery inspired by MotoGP Edition Monster Energy branding flashed across the front apron.
    The exhaust muffler appears to be stubbier than the one in its predecessor and gets a metallic finish. Due to the revised exhaust setup, footpegs for the pillion also have been repositioned. Colour-coded alloy wheels are another aesthetic addition in the new-gen R15 which accentuates its sporty credentials.
    Updated Mechanicals, Features
    Yamaha has finally heard the prayers of all biking enthusiasts from India and given the new-gen R15 a pair of golden-coloured USD forks upfront. Rear suspension duties are handled by a mono-shock unit. Stopping duties are taken care of by disc brakes at both ends complemented by dual-channel ABS as standard. Other new features include a revised fully digital LCD instrument console enabled by Yamaha’s Y-Connect connectivity feature and Bluetooth.

    It seems Classic Legends have taken upon itself to revive iconic yesteryear motorcycle brands that have been left defunct for many years. They have sucessfully revived the Jawa brand with launch of two motorcycles. Next, they have plans to revive BSA and Yezdi brands. Of the two, BSA will focus on export markets like UK, while Yezdi will be launched in India.
    Motorcycles Under Yezdi Brand
    Earlier this year in March, the first test mule was spotted which is believed to be of the upcoming Yezdi Roadking. The same test mule has now been spotted by automotive enthusiast Shreya Patil and Abhijit Patil on the Mumbai – Pune highway. But along with the Roadking, another test mule has been spotted alongside. This one looks like a ADV motorcycle, which will rival the likes of Royal Enfield Himalayan.

    New Yezdi ADV motorcycle features an upright riding stance, spoked wheels, bigger front wheel, wider rear tyre, round headlamps, mountings to accommodate off-road accessories / panniers near the fuel tank as well as at the rear seat, digital instrument cluster, high ground clearance, front and rear disc brake with dual ABS, etc.
    Roadking test mule on the other hand, is being developed on the same lines as a scrambler. The bike could also sport the LED lighting at the front and rear, a digital console and dual channel ABS with raked telescopic front forks and front and rear disc brakes.     Other features could include twin black gas shock absorbers, spoked wheels and circular shaped rear view mirrors. As seen on other scramblers in its segment, the new Jawa model could also receive tall set handlebars and rear set footpegs for a more upright riding stance. Colour options could include Grey, Maroon, Black.
    It is being speculated that Yezdi bikes will undercut their Jawa cousins which can leave a big impact on the modern retro motorcycle segment in India. The new Yezdi bikes can share several commonalities with its Czech counterparts like engine and platforms in order to keep production costs in check. It is also a possibility that both ranges of motorcycles are retailed under the same roof.
    The upcoming Yezdi motorcycles could be powered by the same engine which is on offer with Jawa motorcycles. This is in the form of 300cc single cylinder unit on offer with the Jawa and 42. It may also be powered by a larger 334cc engine that powers the Perak making 30 hp power. Both these engines will get mated to a 6 speed manual as standard.
    2022 Yezdi Roadking
    Legacy of Yezdi
    Yezdi was a famous motorcycle brand back in the 1970s and 80s which was developed by Ideal Jawa (India) Limited. The Mysore-based company sold licensed Jawa motorcycles in India from 1960 which was rebranded into Yezdi in 1973. The range offered under this brand consisted of models such as Monarch, CL 2, Roadking and 350 which were based on older two-stroke Jawa bikes. The motorcycles were discontinued in mid-1990s due to the arrival of stricter emission norms.
    If previous reports are also to be considered then Classic Legends might also develop and manufacture an electric motorcycle under the Yezdi moniker. With retro middleweight motorcycles being the talk of the town in recent times, manufacturers have realised that this segment might give them good returns in the long run. More

    Yamaha Aerox 155cc Launch Teaser Out – R15 Based Maxi Sports Scooter

    Yamaha had showcased the Aerox 155cc scooter in India back in 2018. But at that time they decided not to launch as it did not get the expected response. But it is 2021, and demand for maxi-scooters is on the rise.
    Yamaha will be expanding its scooter lineup in India by launching Aerox 155 tomorrow. As per the latest teaser shared by Yamaha India, they will launch their new Maxi Sports scooter on 21st Sep, tomorrow. Interestingly, tomorrow is also the day Yamaha will launch the new R15 V4 and the R15M.

    The 155cc scooter will be the first Maxi-style offering from the Japanese bikemaker on Indian soil. The Maxi segment of scooters is clearly an untapped space in the country presently with the only notable offering in this category being Aprilia SXR 160.
    Yamaha has already homologated the upcoming Aerox 155 and its type approval documents revealed a few crucial details about the scooter. Aerox will be the third model from the Japanese automaker to offer the much-loved 155cc VVA motor which also powers YZF R15 and MT-15.
    Yamaha India Launch Teaser Of New Maxi Sports Scooter – Aerox 155cc
    The scooter is already available for retail in a few Southeast Asian markets including Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand. Yamaha a few months ago, during the launch of FZ-X, had revealed that its focus will be on the premium segment of two-wheelers with a variety of models between 150cc and 250cc. Aerox will cater to the demands of a niche segment of buyers who want a scooter with performance, a unique design as well as class-leading features.
    Design & Specs
    In terms of styling, 2021 Aerox 155 currently on sale in Indonesia includes a twin LED headlight setup consisting of LED DRLs and an updated LED tail lamp. It is, however, not a full-fledged Maxi scooter and only borrows the design aspect from the premium segment of scooters. Even though it is powered by a very potent 155cc motor, its output figures are simply not enough to classify it as a true Maxi scooter.
    Nevertheless, the single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor will pump out 14.75 bhp in the India-spec model which is a tad less than the iterations sold in Thailand and Indonesia. This mainly has to do with stricter emission norms in our country. In terms of proportions, the new Aerox 155 will measure 1980 mm in length, 700 mm in width, and 1150 mm in height. Wheelbase on offer is 1350mm.

    Features on offer
    As far as features go, Aerox is equipped with a digital instrument console which is enabled with connectivity modules such as Bluetooth and Yamaha’s Y-Connect smartphone app. The latter allows riders to pair their smartphones with the scooter in order to receive a host of information including error codes, service schedules and last parking location.
    Other feature highlights include hazard lights, keyless entry, engine start/stop, LED headlight and taillight, and a 25-litre storage capacity under the seat which can be accessed by a remote locking button. Suspension duties are carried out by conventional telescopic forks in front and twin remote reservoir shock absorbers at rear.     After a host of teaser videos being released, TVS Motor Company has officially launched the new Raider 125 motorcycle in India. This sport-commuter bike adds to the ever increasing list of 125cc bikes in the country. It will be offered as a capable competitor to the Honda CB Shine, Bajaj Pulsar 125, Bajaj Discover 125 and Hero Super Splendor in the Indian market.
    Sporty Styling
    The new TVS Raider 125cc is priced at Rs 77,500 (Ex-Delhi). At this price, it is about Rs 5k more expensive than the Hero Super Splendor, while it is about Rs 1k cheaper than the Bajaj Pulsar 125 and almost Rs 23k cheaper than Pulsar NS 125. In the company line-up, the new Raider is positioned between Radeon 110 and the Apache RTR 160 4V.
    Being a new gen motorcycle, it shares some features with the Apache series. Raider gets all LED head and tail lamps along with LED DRLs. It also sports a fully digital instrument cluster with tachometer, gear position indicator along with speedometer, fuel gauge and clock. It also gets TVS Bluetooth connected features.
    Sporty accents extend to a muscular fuel tank, sharp belly pan and split seats. TVS Raider 125cc is being presented in four colour options of Blue, Red, Yellow, and Black but with a dual tone finish with black colour on its tank shrouds.
    TVS Raider 125cc
    TVS Raider 125 is positioned on a 1,326mm wheelbase and rides on 17 inch alloy wheels at the front and rear. It gets a 10 liter fuel tank while kerb weight is at 123 kgs. Fuel efficiency is pegged at 67 km/l, thanks to ET Fi. A segment-first for a 125cc motorcycle in India, TVS Raider 125 comes in with two ride modes of Eco and Power. Eco mode will relate to better fuel efficiency while Power mode is for fun.
    Engine, Suspension and Braking
    TVS Raider 125 is powered by a 14.8cc, three valve, air cooled engine offering 11.4 hp power at 7,500 rpm and 11.2 Nm torque at 6,000 rpm. The engine gets mated to a 5 speed gearbox. Suspension is carried out via telescopic fork in the front and gas charged 5 step preload adjustable monoshock at the rear while braking is by a 240mm disc set up in front and 130mm drum at the rear.

    In related news, TVS Motor Company is also expected to expand its range with the new Jupiter 125 scooter which will rival the Honda Activa 125 and Suzuki Access 125.TVS Jupiter 125 will be positioned between Jupiter 110 and TVS NTorq 125.
    It will sport similarities to the Jupiter 110 and will borrow its engine from the Ntorq. This 124.8cc, single cylinder, air cooled, fuel injected engine would have different power and torque ratings and CVT ratios while fuel efficiency will be better than that offered by the Norq 125.The new Jupiter 125 is slated to be launched in the coming weeks.     TVS is getting ready to add a 125cc motorcycle to the line-up in India. Currently, TVS does not have any 125cc motorcycle on offer in domestic market. But they do manufacture 125cc motorcycle for export markets – Start City 125 and Victor. In India, the only 125cc option they have is in the form of Ntorq scooter.
    TVS took to social media recently to confirm that the bikemaker will be launching two new 125cc two-wheelers in India. One will be a motorcycle and one will be a scooter. The development was confirmed by the Joint MD of TVS Motor Company- Sudarshan Venu.
    TVS Fiero 125
    Is this the new TVS Fiero 125cc?
    TVS had filed trademarks for the names Fiero, Raider and Retron in the past and there is also a chance that the upcoming 125cc motorcycle might come bearing one of these names. TVS has confirmed that they will launch the motorcycle this month. As per the official teasers, the debut date is 16th Sep 2021.
    The new TVS Fiero 125cc will serve to bridge the gap between the entry-level 110cc bikes and the sportier Apache range of motorcycles starting with 160cc. From the teasers, it looks like that this new 125cc motorcycle will also be coming with racing characteristics like the Apache range. Take look at the teaser video below.

    New TVS 125cc motorcycle will get LED headlights, LED tail-lights, LED DRLs, LED turn indicators, all digital instrument cluster, disc brake, ABS, split seats, black alloys, tubeless tyres, etc. Unlike the Apache range, which is powered by Apache’s RT Fi or Race Tuned Fi, the new TVS Retron 125 will be powered by ET Fi or Eco Thrust Fi. TVS ET Fi is already on offer with their commuter range like Jupiter, Radeon, etc.
    TVS Fiero 125
    The upcoming TVS Raider 125 is likely to be slotted in between Radeon and the Apache 160 in the company range. Speculations are rife that this motorcycle will be powered by an existing 125cc motor which currently propels Star City 125 and Victor 125 for export markets. Expect this engine to churn an output around 10 bhp and 11 Nm of torque. The motor is likely to be coupled with a 5-speed gearbox, 1-down and 4-up.
    Jupiter 125
    The second 125cc offering to be launched by the bikemaker is expected to be a more powerful derivative of Jupiter which is likely to borrow the same engine as NTorq. However, the latter is expected to be tuned for slightly lower output in order to generate better fuel efficiency. The 125cc scooter segment in India has gained plenty of traction in recent years with several models from Hero MotoCorp, Honda and Yamaha.
    The Hosur-based manufacturer would want to increase its strength in the 125cc two-wheeler segment amidst growing competition. TVS has also registered another trademark for Apache RTR 165 RP which is expected to be the next addition to the Apache range of motorcycles. More

    Ola S1 electric scooter is presented in a total of 10 colour options of Red, Blue, Yellow, Silver, Gold, Pink, Black, Blue, Grey and White and in matte, metallic and pastel finishes. The new e-scooter stands 1,860 mm in length, 700 mm in width and 1,155 mm in height. Its wheelbase measures 1,345 mm while saddle height is at 800 mm.
    Features will also include a twin-beam LED headlight with LED DRL strip going around the main cluster. Boot space is said to be sufficient for upto 2 helmets while the scooter is being offered with a keyless experience wherein riders will have access to the scooter via a mobile app.
    Ola Electric Scooter Sale Date Delayed
    Launched on 15th Aug 2021, Ola Electric scooter was to go on sale from 8th Sep 2021. Those who had booked the scooter, would have been able to make the purchase as per the booking order. Those who had booked first, would get the chance to purchase the scooter first and make the remaining payment.
    Lakhs of customers across India had booked the Ola Electric scooter and many of them were waiting to make the final purchase, which was to start from 8th Sep. But that did not happen as the website faced technical difficulties. Now the new date which has been set for start of purchase is 15th Sep 2021, from 8 AM.
    Ola Electric Scooter Sale Date Delayed
    As per the above update, posted by Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal, the sale of their electric scooter will now start from 15th Sep 2021. He has also reaffirmed that there is no change in the order. Those who booked the scooter first, will get the first chance to buy the scooter. Despite this delay in purchase start date, there is no delay in delivery date.
    Power and Performance
    Ola S1 and S1 Pro are priced at Rs. 1 lakh and Rs. 1.3 lakh respectively. These are ex-sh prices, excluding the FAME and government subsidies. Ola S1 gets its power via a 2.98 kWh battery pack while the S1 Pro gets a 3.97 kWh battery pack. Ola S1 gets two riding modes of Urban and Sport, S1 Pro also gets Hyper mode.
    On board features on the Ola S1 includes small LED headlamp, a simple apron with integrated turn signals and sleek LED tail lamps with turn indicators on the sides. It also sports a TFT instrument display, disc brakes, 12 inch wheels, proximity sensor for keyless access and reverse mode allowing for easier exit from tight parking spots.
    Like other electric two wheeler manufacturers, Ola is also mediating with Convergence Energy Services Ltd (CESL) for supply of electric two and three wheelers with charging infrastructure.     TVS Apache 165 RP Name Trademark – Sportier Than RTR 160 4V

    TVS is eyeing to expand the Apache lineup with new derivatives of the sporty commuter motorcycle
    Apache has been the flagship motorcycle brand of TVS Motor. The company has been active at updating the Apache line-up. Recently they introduced significant updates to its flagship Apache RR 310.
    And it seems the Hosur-based bikemaker is not settling down yet. The company recently filed a trademark for Apache RTR 165 RP. There are no details of this bike currently available with us but we believe that it could be a sportier version of Apache RTR 160 4V. The ‘RP’ in the moniker could possibly stand for Racing Performance which could be the start of a new performance-based sub-brand from TVS.
    Expected Updates on New TVS Apache 165
    The upcoming iteration of Apache might offer a bump-up in engine displacement and this can be possible thanks to a rebored version of the 159.7cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine currently empowering Apache RTR 160 4V.
    In its current form, this fuel-injected motor pumps out 17.63 bhp and 14.73 Nm of peak torque which in itself is segment-leading. In the updated form, this powertrain is expected to push out a few extra horses and slightly higher torque.
    TVS Apache RTR 165 RP name trademark application
    A few cosmetic changes would also be made in order to distinguish itself from the rest of the lineup. Ergonomics of the bike is likely to be altered as well with slightly lower handlebars. In addition, footpegs are expected to be shifted towards the rear lending a slightly aggressive ride posture.
    TVS might also alter the tuning of the suspension setup for a sportier ride and this would lead to improvement in overall performance as compared to RTR 160 4V. That said, the suspension setup comprising telescopic forks at front and a Showa-tuned mono-shock unit at rear with preload adjustability are expected to be carried forward to Apache RTR 165 RP. Braking duties will likely be carried out by disc brakes at both ends which could also benefit from dual-channel ABS as standard.
    Expected features, price
    In terms of features, all gizmos on offer in RTR 160 4V are expected to be carried forward to RTR 165 RP. These include all-LED lighting, LED DRLs, a fully digital instrument cluster, a wave bite ignition key, a one-touch start and Glide Through Traffic (GTT) technology. Apache RTR 165 RP is likely to be priced at a premium of Rs 5,000-10,000 over RTR 160 4V which is currently priced between Rs 1.12 and Rs 1.15 lakh (ex-showroom).
    All these are speculations at the moment since the launch of such a motorcycle hasn’t been confirmed by TVS yet. Automakers tend to file trademarks for many future products which eventually don’t end up in final production. Hopefully, we get hold of some more details about RTR 165 RP in the coming days. More

    New Mercedes G Class Electric SUV Concept Makes Global Debut

    Upon its launch, the electric G Wagon from Mercedes Benz will rival other electric off-roading SUVs such as GMC Hummer EV and electric Ford Bronco
    One of the most popular lineups of cars from Mercedes Benz has been re-envisioned in a whole new avatar. The G-Wagon nameplate from the German marque needs no introduction as it is considered one of the purest forms of SUVs still in production. Recently, the carmaker took a giant step towards electrification of its entire lineup.
    Mercedes Benz has officially unveiled a concept of what could become the first fully electric G Class SUV in future. Officially referred to as Concept EQG, it made its maiden public appearance recently at the IAA Mobility Show 2021 in Munich. The company says that the EQG Concept is a vision of what an electrified G-Class will look like.
    A final production version of an electric G Wagon is expected to make its debut in 2025 which will be based on the EQG Concept. Speaking of its design, Concept EQG unmistakably looks like a G-Class with close visual relations with its IC engine-powered sibling. However, the battery-powered G Wagon comes with a series of styling revisions that mirrors the design of futuristic electric vehicles.
    Mercedes G Class Electric – Exterior Styling
    The exterior overhaul of the SUV is subtle with a similar dual-tone paint scheme used in other EV models from Mercedes such as the EQS luxury sedan. The entire exterior has been installed with illuminated trim elements which include a solid black panel with a 3D star pattern replacing the front grille. Upfront, the faux grille is flanked by round LED headlights circled by integrated LED DRLs.

    The SUV stands on large 22-inch aluminium wheels while in place of a spare-wheel carrier, it features a storage box. The storage box has been designed to look like the charging station which consists of the port and charging cables. Concept EQG carries the signature G Class boxy silhouette and is still underpinned by a ladder-on-frame chassis that sits on an independent suspension in front and a solid axle at the rear.
    Powerful & off-road capable
    While exact specs of its powertrain haven’t been revealed, it has come to light that the SUV will be powered by four electric motors each mounted close to the four wheels. Mercedes says that each of these motors can be operated independently to provide “unique driving characteristics.” These motors will be connected via a two-speed gearbox which effectively offers low-range and high-range gearing thus fulfilling its off-roading requirements.
    Mercedes says instant torque provided by an electric powertrain will further enhance the SUV’s off-roading capabilities with enormous pulling power and controllability. The battery is integrated into the ladder frame to ensure a low centre of gravity. While exact battery specs, range and performance figures have not yet been revealed, it will certainly eclipse the present IC engine-powered G Wagons.
    Current IC Engine G Wagons
    Currently, G Wagon is offered in two iterations in India- the regular G350d and the more powerful AMG G63. The latter is powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 petrol motor which dishes out a mammoth 577 bhp and 850 Nm of peak torque.
