2024 Hero Karizma 210cc Launch Planned – Pulsar 200 Rival

As opposed to the 223cc air-cooled engine with 20 bhp in its pocket, upcoming Hero Karizma with a liquid-cooled 210cc engine will be more potentImage for illustration purpose onlyIndian motorcycle manufacturers seem to be going back to their roots. Products that seem to be the next big thing, often disappoint where sales are concerned. Products that they replace, often come off as the more prominent and popular. We always crave what we can’t have, right? We observed this pattern with Pulsar 220F re-launch. Now, Hero is at it as well.Remember the Karizma series of faired motorcycles from Hero. How can you not? For, they were so memorable. We’re not talking about facelifted models launched in 2014, but the OG Karizma R and Karizma ZMR. Get ready to hear about them again, as they are reportedly making a grand comeback with a new liquid-cooled 210cc engine.Hero testing a new fully faired motorcycle – New Karizma?2024 Hero Karizma New Gen – 210cc Engine With Liquid CoolingEver since they were launched, Karizma series offered a lot of bang for the buck and were some of the most sought-after in its segment, rivaling Pulsar 220. Hero priced them right and even marketed them right. Bollywood star Hritik Roshan even nullifies a freaking tornado in a Karizma ZMR. I remember this because it was effective and memorable marketing.Facelifted models designed by EBR (Erik Buell Racing) were the sole holes in the ship as they single-handedly took down Karizma brand into an abyss. Hero did launch Xtreme 200S, which was supposed to be Karizma’s replacement, but really wasn’t. Now, Hero is set to bring in a new platform on which the upcoming Karizma will be based.Hero Xtreme 300S Fully Faired Motorcycle? We’re talking about a brand new frame, housing a brand new 210cc liquid-cooled engine and coupled to a brand new 6-speed gearbox. Exact specifics about this new engine are not yet out. But 25 bhp of power and 30 Nm should be reasonably adequate for this motorcycle. It would be launched as a fully faired motorcycle. Good thing about the upcoming 2024 Hero Karizma lineup is they are reportedly being designed with inspirations from OG Karizma series and not facelifted models. Phew!More Tech, More Power – Faster Than Ever BeforeGiven that Hero Karizma line represented value for money in the past, competitive pricing is likely to be the main strength. In favour of competitive pricing, Hero might skimp on USD forks and other fancy hardware like slipper clutch, ride-by-wire and more. However, we should expect disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS (at least as an option).LED lighting, Bluetooth connectivity with turn-by-turn navigation, side stand sensor with engine cut off are features that are highly likely to make it to production. Elements like 6-speed gearbox, oil-cooling and USD front forks are firsts for any production-spec Hero MotoCorp offerings. It might be launched around the all-important festive season. 2024 Karizma price could be in the range of Rs 1.5 lakh.We really hope Hero would install the same engine in Xpulse 200 as well, breathing new life into an already potent platform. With 25 bhp and 30 Nm, Hero Xpulse would absolutely fly in trails and off-roading situations. We are likely to see more “KariPulse” too, plonking this new 210cc engine in Xpulse chassis.Source More

BMW Electric Motorcycle Patent Leaks – Gets G310R Styling, More Power

Ergonomics and Economics of BMW Electric Motorcycle, TVS Apache RR310 electric makeover likelyBMW Electric Motorcycle Based On G310R – RenderElectric two-wheelers are gaining popularity, and many manufacturers are working on expanding their EV portfolio. One such company is BMW Motorrad, which is currently developing its first electric motorcycle based on G310R. TVS, an Indian partner of BMW 310 series, could also launch its own version of the electric motorcycle soon after.Last year, TVS MD Sudarshan Venu had stated that they are collaborating with their German partner for developing a sub-15kW electric motorcycle. In effect, TVS could also manufacture BMW’s electric motorcycle, just like the ICE-based G310R and G310GS are made in India.BMW Electric Motorcycle Patent Leaks – Based on G310RBMW G310R electric motorcycle Design and Styling patent leaksPatent design of the electric G310R is similar to its ICE-based counterpart, but it borrows powertrain components, such as the battery pack, motor, and other equipment, from the CE-04. However, fitting all these components within the G310R framework is not an easy task. To make it work, BMW has carried out several tweaks. And has placed the battery pack vertically at an angle under the front section of the bike, where most ICE-based motorcycles have their radiators. This placement will help cool the battery pack, as a significant percentage of its surface area will get direct air.Electric G310R borrows the ECU and charger from the CE-04, and the ECU is placed under the bike’s belly. Due to the middle section of the bike being jam-packed, the only storage space available is where the fuel tank is. This space could be used to store at least a half-face helmet or charger.BMW Electric Motorcycle Based On G310R – RenderThe motor of the electric G310R is placed under the seat at a 90° angle. The shaft runs longitudinally instead of being positioned across the bike, and is also tilted at an angle. This allows for a shorter, taller package. It connects to a bevel gear that transfers power to the front sprocket, which works like a reduction gearbox, increasing torque and gearing down the rotational speed of the motor. Lastly, a belt final drive connects to a large rear sprocket, which is another form of reduction.BMW CE-04 Specs to influence BMW G 310 R Electric performance – Assuming the electric G310R borrows the battery pack and motor from CE-04, it could make 42 hp of max power and 62 Nm of peak torque, which is better than the ICE-powered G310R that makes 34 hp and 28 Nm.Advantages, Sound and Noise Levels of BMW G 310 R ElectricThe electric G310R and BMW G 310 R electric offer several advantages over their ICE-based counterparts. Firstly, they are environmentally friendly, producing no emissions while riding. Secondly, they have a lower operating cost than ICE-based motorcycles, as they require less maintenance, have lower fuel costs, and offer better fuel efficiency. Lastly, they provide a smooth, quiet ride, which is a significant advantage for urban riders. However, the cost of the battery pack and other components could make the electric G310R more expensive than its ICE counterpart. In US, BMW CE-04 is available at a starting price of $11,795 (approx. INR 9.76 lakh). TVS version could be much cheaper though.BMW Electric Motorcycle Patent Leaks – Based on G310RDisclaimer – Design renders presented in this blog are solely for illustrative purposes and have not been commissioned, approved, or endorsed by the manufacturer. KTM 650cc Duke, RC, ADV Incoming – Made In India At Bajaj Plant

While domestic demand will be limited for made-in-India twin-cylinder KTM bikes, the investment cost will be justifiable with aggressive targeting of export marketsKTM RC 650 Render for illustration purposeEarlier this year in January, Bajaj-KTM partnership achieved a key sales milestone of 1 million units. The one-millionth unit to roll out of Bajaj’s plant was a KTM 390 Adventure. Going forward, Bajaj-KTM partnership will be further strengthened, as KTM is planning to manufacture its new low-cost twin-cylinder bikes in India. While the 490cc parallel-twin project has been abandoned, KTM has shifted focus to a new 690cc platform. It was earlier reported that the 690 platform will be manufactured by CFMoto in China. However, there has been a change in plans, with possibilities being explored for manufacturing the new 690 platform in India as well.Upcoming KTM Duke 390. Image – The Fat BikerKTM new 650cc twin-cylinder platform (made-in-India)KTM will be using the existing 790 Duke platform to develop the new 690 platform. It could also be a 650cc version. While the 490 platform was cancelled, the new 690 platform has a better chance to succeed from a business perspective. That’s because there’s growing demand in this segment, especially in markets like India. As of now, Royal Enfield 650 twins dominate this space with market share of more than 75%. Super Meteor 650 is also available and RE has plans to introduce more bikes in this segment.KTM ADVKTM is currently in discussions with Bajaj to chalk out the finer details of the proposed 690 platform. KTM-Bajaj will be working to finalize plans for the supply chain that will be needed for manufacturing the 690 bikes in India. KTM CEO Stefan Pierer has assured that the 690 platform will definitely happen over the next two years. The first 690 bike is likely to be a Duke. Later, KTM could also introduce other formats such as RC and Adventure.KTM 690 export plansKTM’s new 690 made in India bikes will also be sold overseas in countries like Nepal, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and Australia. KTM-Bajaj partnership has already been successful in delivering top quality, all while minimizing production costs. The new 690 platform will enjoy the same set of benefits. With local manufacturing, enthusiasts can expect a more accessible price range. For reference, KTM 790 Duke (when available in India) was priced at Rs 8.64 lakh. Expect the 650cc KTMs to be priced in the Rs 5-6 lakh range.Affordable pricing will allow KTM to explore opportunities in price sensitive locations. Markets like Latin America can also be on the radar for made in India twin-cylinder KTM bikes. However, for European markets, KTM will continue to depend on CFMoto for production of its low-cost parallel twin models.KTM 650cc Duke, RC, ADV bikes could generate around 80-100 hp of max power. It will depend on how scaled-down the new platform is, in comparison to the current 790 Duke. The latter churns out 105 PS and 86 Nm. KTM new 690 platform will be getting all the advanced equipment such as traction control, quickshifter+, motor slip regulation, Supermoto Mode, motorcycle stability control with cornering ABS and ride modes of Sport, Street and Rain.Source More

Honda Shine 100cc Launch Price Rs 65k – Cheaper Than Hero Splendor

Reliability, agility, high mileage, low-maintenance and affordability are USPs that Honda’s new 100cc Shine will need to take on Hero Splendor2023 Honda Shine 100cc LaunchedAs things stand now, Hero MotoCorp doesn’t have an answer to Activa. Honda faces a similar predicament with 100cc Splendor. While Hero’s plans in this context have not been revealed, Honda has decided to challenge Splendor with an entirely new 100cc bike. Called Honda Shine 100, this new motorcycle has now been launched in India at a starting price of Rs 64,900, ex-sh. Bookings open from today. Production will start from next month, while deliveries will start from May 2023.Honda Shine 100 – Features, Price, Mileage & Specs100cc motorcycle segment commands 33% market share of the total motorcycle sales in India. A major chunk of this 33% is eaten by Hero MotoCorp, thanks to their Splendor range of motorcycles. Monthly sales of Splendor are about 2.5 lakh units. Honda has not been present in this segment, thereby not competing in 1/3rd of the motorcycle market. With the launch of Shine 100, Honda aims at taking on the Splendor.2023 Honda Shine 100cc LaunchedSplendor 100cc is Hero’s top selling product and the primary volume generator. If Honda’s new 100cc Shine can grab even 15-20% market share in entry-level commuter segment, the company should be able to emerge as the largest two-wheeler manufacturer in the country in quantitative terms. Honda is relying on the Shine branding for their new 100cc motorcycle. CB Shine 125 is Honda’s top selling motorcycle currently, and also the market leader in 125cc segment. Some of the key focus areas for Honda’s new Shine 100cc commuter bike will be mileage and affordability. Among the key reasons why Splendor is preferred is its reliability, easy manoeuvrability, peppy performance and high mileage. Most Splendor users report around 65+ km mileage for the bike. Honda’s reliability is sort of unquestionable, so that aspect is already sorted out. Honda is claiming to offer best in class mileage with new Shine 1000cc.2023 Honda Shine 100cc LaunchedHonda’s Shine 100cc bike is among the cheapest in its class. Splendor was quite affordable once, but prices have increased in recent years. This has prompted buyers to explore other options. Splendor prices start from Rs 72,000 (ex-sh, Delhi). Honda has launched Shine 100 at a more affordable price point of Rs 64,900, ex-sh. – all while matching Splendor’s key USPs, it could trigger a major churn in entry-level commuter segment.Honda Shine 100: The Best Commuter Bike in India?Honda Shine 100 gets 5 colour options (Black with Red Stripes, Black with Blue Stripes, Black with Green Stripes, Black with Gold Stripes and Black with Grey Stripes). The appealing front cowl, all black alloy wheels, practical aluminum grab rail, bold tail lamp and sleek distinguished muffler compliment smooth style of the motorcycle. HMSI is also offering a special 6-year warranty package (3 years standard + 3 years optional extended warranty) on Shine 100.Honda Shine 100Built on an all new light-weight durable diamond frame, the new Honda Shine 100 gets long seat measuring 677 mm and a seat ht of 786 mm. Turning radius is just 1.9 meter. Ground clearance is 168mm while wheelbase is 1245mm. With its new 100cc Shine, Honda is expected to focus more on rural markets. While offering best-in-segment mileage, the bike could also have larger proportions as compared to Splendor. These are factors that have significant influence on customer purchase decisions in rural markets.Honda has claimed that the new Shine 100cc motorcycle delivers best in segment performance as well as mileage. The new 100cc engine comes with Fuel Injection as well as Solenoid, which makes starting the bike very smooth in any weather condition. It prevents engine start while the side stand is engaged enabling a convenient and carefree ride. Making every ride on the Shine 100 comfortable and convenient, is the Combi-Brake System (CBS) with Equalizer.2023 Honda Shine 100cc LaunchedPerformance numbers of Honda’s Shine 100cc are close to that of its primary rival Splendor Plus. Honda Shine 100 is powered by a 99.7cc, air cooled, single cylinder motor that churns out 7.6 hp and 8.05 Nm torque while rival Splendor delivers 8 bhp of max power and 8.05 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 4-speed constant mesh gearbox. Apart from Splendor, Honda’s new 100cc bike will also take on HF Deluxe, HF 100 and Bajaj Platina 100. More
