Bajaj is gearing up to launch the updated 2025 Chetak electric scooter on December 20, and fresh spy shots provide a closer look at what’s in store. Spotted testing near Bajaj’s Pune plant, the new Chetak hints at key updates, including a revamped design, potential new features, and improved performance. Latest spy shots are credited to automotive enthusiast Anvay Sheolikar.
New Chassis and Platform for Better Performance
The upcoming 2025 Bajaj Chetak is expected to utilize a brand-new platform with a lighter chassis. This move could enhance its handling, agility, and range. One noticeable change from the spy shots is the potential relocation of the battery pack to the floorboard area. This would result in improved weight distribution, lower center of gravity, and more stability during cornering, braking, and low-speed maneuvers.

The instrument cluster might also receive an upgrade, potentially offering a more advanced display with features like smartphone connectivity and navigation. One of the test mules is wearing steel wheels, which is new for Chetak as all variants today are seen with alloys.
Lower Pricing and Market Strategy
To widen its reach, Bajaj could introduce the new 2025 Chetak at a lower starting price, making it more competitive. As with the current model, multiple variants are expected, catering to diverse customer preferences. The existing Chetak lineup is priced between Rs 95,998 and Rs 1,28,744, depending on the variant. A more affordable base model for 2025 could further strengthen Bajaj’s position in the electric two-wheeler market.

Spied for the first time, new TVS Apache ADV showcases a promising design and features that position it as a strong contender against rivals like KTM 390 Adventure and Royal Enfield Himalayan. The latest spy shots reveal several design and feature highlights of the Apache RTX 310. The motorcycle sports a semi-fairing design with a prominent tower-like instrument cluster, likely housing a full-color TFT display offering navigation, music controls, and advanced ride analytics. The instrument cluster looks similar to the one seen on Raider 125. Not the vertical one on other TVS and BMW bikes based on the 310 platform.

2025 TVS Apache ADV is equipped with alloy wheels, possibly sized at 19 inches for the front and 17 inches for the rear, catering to both on- and off-road adventures. Other notable elements include a rugged luggage rack, an upswept twin-shooter exhaust, and a scooped-out seat for enhanced rider comfort. Additionally, handlebar-mounted ORVM stalks and auxiliary lights, which might be standard fitment considering TVS’s feature-rich offerings, add to its practicality.
The suspension system features USD telescopic front forks, with two finishes observed in the test mules—gold and black—indicating the possibility of multiple variants with differing features. A tall windscreen, side guards, and a well-thought-out seating arrangement further enhance its touring capability.

At the heart of the Apache RTX 310 lies TVS’s newly developed 300cc RT-XD4 engine. This engine, unveiled at MotoSoul 2024, is a testament to the company’s advanced engineering. The RT-XD4 engine produces 35.45 PS of power and 28.5 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed gearbox and a slipper clutch.

TVS Unveils New 300cc Engine

At the ongoing MotoSoul 2024, TVS has unveiled an entirely new 300cc engine named RT-XD4. It has been designed and developed completely in-house at the company’s R&D facility located in Hosur. The new engine is a testament to the strong research and engineering capabilities of TVS Motor.
TVS new RT-XD4 engine – Key features
In comparison to the existing 312.12 cc engine, the new RT-XD4 engine has a displacement of 299 cc. Power and torque output of the new RT-XD4 engine is at 35.45 PS and 28.5 Nm. Bore is 78 mm, whereas stroke is 62.6 mm. The new engine gets a 6-speed gearbox and also has a slipper clutch. RT-XD4 engine has improved cooling, made possible with liquid cooling for the head and air-oil cooling for the crank cases.
TVS Unveils New 300cc Engine
TVS new RT-XD4 engine is built on an entirely new platform. Some of the key highlights include a dual overhead camshaft integrated with a down-draft port and a dual oil pump featuring a split chamber crankcase. For enhanced cooling, a dual cooling jacket cylinder head with a water jacket has been used. The new RT-XD4 also has a dual breather system. Its primary purpose is to restrict oil contamination and minimize oil consumption.

As compared to the new engine, the existing 312.12 cc engine generates 35.6 PS and 28.7 Nm. Bore and stroke figures are at 80 mm and 62.1 mm, respectively. The 312.12 cc engine is liquid cooled and is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with slipper clutch.

As is evident, the performance numbers are a close match. However, the new RT-XD4 engine could deliver a better overall performance with its advanced architecture. TVS has stated that the new engine has highly linear torque characteristics. In essence, users can expect a seamless ride experience with the new engine.
While not officially announced, it is possible that the new RT-XD4 engine could be lightweight. If that’s true, a higher power-to-weight ratio can be achieved. Another possibility is improved fuel efficiency. Achieving compliance with upcoming stricter emission norms could also become easier with the new RT-XD4 engine. From a business perspective, the new engine could have a lower production cost. Capital expenditure related to design and development will be adjusted over the long term.
Which TVS bikes will use the new RT-XD4 engine?
TVS has not revealed when the new RT-XD4 engine will reach the stage of commercial production. However, we do know that TVS has trademarked a new name – TVS Apache RTX. Spy shots have also revealed a blurred image of a new 300cc ADV bike being tested. This could be the first bike to get the new RT-XD4 engine. Reports also reveal that testing of the new bike is already in the final stages. And launch could take place around mid-2025.
