      Royal Enfield is expanding its product portfolio with launch of one new motorcycle in the 250cc-750cc range every three months

      Royal Enfield has an interesting array of new models planned for launch in the New Year. These include the next gen RE Classic 350, Interceptor 350, facelifted Interceptor / Continental 650 and a 650cc cruiser bike. But ahead of all that, Royal Enfield will launch an updated version of the Himalayan.
      Launch was expected to take place last month, but that did not happen. But now, first units of the updated Himalayan motorcycle have started arriving at company dealership. Here are latest spy shots – credit to automotive enthusiast Ram Prasath and Gideon Tony.
      2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan
      As can be seen in the spy image, 2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan comes with an all new shade of Green. Apart from the new colour, it also gets Tripper Navigation system, that is already on offer with Meteor 350. The Meteor 350 was the first bike to receive this feature which will now be extended to other bikes in the company lineup.
      Tripper Navigation allows riders to connect their smartphones to the system via Bluetooth and receive turn navigation details. Along with this Tripper Navigation, the 2021 RE Himalayan will likely see updates in the form of a new headlamp which will sport an LED ring to work as a DRL.

      New colour options are also be a part of the update. The current Himalayan is presented in color options of Granite Black, Snow White, Sleet Grey, Gravel Grey and Rock Red. New colours include Green, White and Silver.
      Engine and Transmission
      The 2021 RE Himalayan will be powered by the same 411cc, single cylinder engine which was recently updated to BS6 emission standards. This engine makes 24.3 bhp power at 6,500 rpm and 32 Nm torque at 4,000 to 4500 rpm. The engine gets mated to a 5 speed gearbox.
      2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan will be equipped with disc brakes at both ends while it will receive dual channel ABS for enhanced braking performance. Suspension duties will be handled via telescopic forks in the front and a monoshock unit at the rear.
      As per the leaked pricing, new Himalayan is expected to get costlier by about Rs 20,000 – taking the price to about Rs 2.51 lakh. Official launch is expected to take place in the coming days.

      Post this, Royal Enfield has plans to launch the Classic 350 new generation. It expected by April 2021 while the updated 650 Twins with alloys, new Tripper turn-by-turn navigation – will launch either this month of next. More

      2021 KTM RC 390 Spied In Production-Ready Guise Ahead Of Launch

      The fully faired KTM supersports motorcycle is expected to go on sale sometime later this year

      The KTM RC390 has been on the market for quite sometime and is due for a replacement. Ever since its launch in 2013, the fully faired medium displacement bike has been dominating its segment but competition has gotten intense in recent times. KTM is working on a new generation model which has been spotted in Europe without any camouflage in its near-production-ready guise.
      2021 KTM RC 390 – What’s new?
      As the previous spyshots already confirmed, the 2021 KTM RC 390 employs a completely new design. Enjoying the center stage is a full LED headlamp which has now become the Austrian-brand’s signature.
      The transparent fairing around the headlamp is wider than before to facilitate better wind protection to the rider. It also houses funky boomerang-shaped LED turn indicators. Side panels of the fairing sport air vents for optimized flow. Even the new gen KTM RC 200 gets similar design, which was recently spotted at Bajaj plant in India.
      The new generation RC 390 also benefits from a larger fuel tank for improved range, and a new rear sub-frame which is designed to make the motorcycle more comfortable than before for tall riders. The new handlebar is also expected to bring about an improvement in the supersport motorcycle’s overall ergonomics.

      Not surprisingly, the 2021 KTM RC 390 adopts the brand’s color TFT instrument cluster which is also seen on the Duke 390. This particular prototype seems to be testing different front and rear alloy wheels but the production version would be sporting identical units at the front and rear.
      Specifications
      The 373 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine has achieved much fame among performance enthusiasts with its sprightly 44 hp and 35 Nm of torque. The motor is connected to a 6-speed gearbox by means of a slipper clutch. Save for a few emission tweaks including a larger exhaust canister, the 2021 KTM RC 390 is not likely to feature any drastic change in performance.
      While the WP inverted telescopic front and monoshock rear suspension system has has been retained, the new motorcycle benefits from a larger front disc for better stopping power. Dual-channel ABS will be standard and KTM could throw in an IMU to make it sensitive to corners.

      Launch
      The 2021 KTM RC 390 is scheduled to go on sale internationally later this year. Just like its predecessor, the fully faired compact displacement motorcycle will be made by Bajaj Auto at its Chakan facility near Pune. The new platform will also spawn other displacement variants including 125, 200 and 250 depending on the market. We expect the new model to be accompanied by a nominal increase in its price tag.
      In global markets, competition would come from fellow A2 warriors such as the Kawasaki Ninja 400, Honda CBR500R, Yamaha YZF-R3 and so on. We expect the new model to continue its edge as the most powerful product in its segment.

      Ola Electric Scooter Spied Testing – Bajaj Chetak, Ather 450X Rival

      Ola Electric acquired Dutch-based Etergo electric scooter manufacturer last year and is working on building what is expected to be the world’s largest scooter factory. The company has tied up with Siemens to built the aforementioned factory in Tamil Nadu with an investment of INR 2,400 cr. The Ola electric scooter is expected to be launched in India sometime in second half of 2021.

      The Etergo AppScooter aka Ola electric scooter has been spotted testing at what looks like a private test facility in India. The camouflaged prototypes are identical to the international version in terms of styling and equipment. The scooter adopts a sleek bodywork with LED headlight, an unconventional single telescopic front suspension, alloy wheels, etc.
      The final specifications of the electric powertrain are not clear as of now but the AppScooter’s removable lithium-ion battery configuration is expected to be retained. Depending on the number of cells used, the scooter’s maximum range can be up to 240 km on a single charge. The 0-45 kmph comes in about 3.9 seconds and the scooter has an estimated top speed of around 100 kmph.
      Ola may make some noticeable changes to the AppScooter to make is more suitable for the Indian market and to keep the costs in check. There could also be multiple variants with different battery sizes to cover a wider range of audience.

      Features
      Being a premium product, the Ola electric scooter will feature LED headlamp, LED tailight, alloy wheels, front disc brake, colour TFT instrument display with smartphone connectivity features, a dedicated smartphone app to interact with the scooter and so on.
      We expect the scooter to be priced upward to INR 1 lakh (ex-showroom). Intended rivals will be Ather 450X, Bajaj e-Chetak, TVS iQube and a whole other premium electric scooters that are on their way to our market.
      Manufacturing
      Upon completion, Ola Electric’s Tamil Nadu plant is said to generate 10,000 employment opportunities and have an installed annual production capacity of 2 million units. In addition to serving the promising Indian electric scooter market, the upcoming factory will also manufacture Ola electric scooter for international markets with focus on Europe, Asia and Latin America.
      As of now, achieving large scale production from the get go has been a challenge for the e-mobility startups in the country but with massive investment in the factory, Ola seems to have this issue covered (provided supply chain infrastructure is sorted as well). Kick starting retail operations across the country from day one would help Ola slingshot ahead of its rivals who are trying a phase-wise launch due to production and supply chain constraints.

      Popular among adventure enthusiasts, Royal Enfield Himalayan is set to receive new features and updates with the 2021 model. Although the company has not officially announced the launch date of 2021 Himalayan, it is expected very soon.
      The updated model can boost Himalayan sales in both domestic as well as international markets. As may be recalled, Himalayan is the second most exported Royal Enfield motorcycle, next only to the 650 twins.

      Ahead of its launch, the New Royal Enfield Himalayan has now been leaked via the official RE website. Vlogger Bullet Guru has managed to share exclusive images of the 2021 Himalayan while it was LIVE on the company website.
      These leaked images were saved when Royal Enfield was most likely testing the updated Himalayan and its features / customisations on offer via the official website and the mobile app. As per the leak, price of 2021 Himalayan is Rs 2,51,565, ex-sh.

      It is not clear if this price is with the panniers / customization or without. If it is with the panniers, then the price is same as current Himalayan. If not, than the new Himalayan comes with a price hike of Rs 20k. More details will be available at the time of launch.
      Royal Enfield Himalayan 2021 – New colours
      2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan is more about functional improvements rather than visual updates. In terms of design, it remains largely the same as earlier. However, it does provide more personalization options to customers in the form of three new colours. These are Pine Green, Mirage Silver and Granite Black.
      A unique aspect about the new colour themes is that these motorcycles will have contrasting brown seats. While the brown seat compliments the look and feel of Mirage Silver and Granite Black colours, it looks a bit radical with the Pine Green colour option. The brown seat is expected to offer more comfort, as it utilizes high density foam.
      2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan
      With the introduction of new colours, some of the earlier options have been removed. The ones that have been retained include Lake Blue, Gravel Grey and Rock Red.
      Another update is the taller windshield, which will provide improved protection against the wind. It also enhances the motorcycle’s road presence. Other design elements are the same as earlier such as round headlamp and rear view mirrors, sculpted fuel tank, sleek turn indicators, upswept exhaust and slim tail section.

      Tripper Navigation
      2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan is likely to get Tripper navigation system that displays navigational arrows on a dedicated screen located next to the primary instrument pod. A segment-first feature, the Tripper system was first introduced with Royal Enfield Meteor 350. It seems even more relevant for adventure-ready Himalayan.
      Tripper system is hugely beneficial, as users don’t need to use their smartphone to see navigational directions. They just need the Royal Enfield app to connect to the Tripper system and enter the required destination. Once that is done, the Tripper screen continues to display navigational arrows. It works with Google maps in the background.

      Updated front rack and rear carrier
      To avoid reported issue of knees touching the front rack, Royal Enfield has shifted it a bit forward and also made it slightly shorter. The rear carrier has also been updated with the use of flat surface metal plate. This should make it sturdier and allow users to carry more luggage. Other equipment such as engine, frame, suspension and braking setup will be the same as earlier.

      Classic Legends have been actively testing its retro-styled classic motorcycle Forty-Two ahead of its launch. The new set of images show the entry-level Jawa with a new pair of blacked-out alloy wheels instead of conventional wire-spoke wheels. Another set of images with a similar setup has surfaced on the internet.
      The latest spy shots have been clicked by automotive enthusiast Sai somewhere near Pune. These new wheels might be wrapped around by tubeless tyres as they are easier to repair in case of a puncture. The changes are not only limited to the wheels only.

      Cosmetic Updates
      As evident from the new set of spy images, there are a few other cosmetic changes. This includes blacked-out mechanical components such as its exhaust pipe, front and rear suspension setup, black headlamp bezel and turn indicator housings.
      Even the engine and gearbox setup has also been painted black instead of a traditional chrome setup. The whole all-black theme adds a nice modern flavour to the retro motorcycle. Other notable changes included a single-piece grab rail for the pillion and a new stitching pattern for the seat.

      Jawa would also want to improve the quality of foam beneath the seat as consumers have lots of complaints regarding Forty Two’s seating comfort, especially for the pillion. Although, going by the images, shape of the seat has been kept intact. A short flyscreen has also been added but that seems to be part of an accessory package.

      While details regarding this update are still very thin, we expect a similar tyre setup to be included to other Jawa models including Jawa Classic and Perak. It might also be the case that this update might be included as a whole new variant in Forty Two’s lineup. One can expect this iteration of the retro motorcycle to make hit showrooms in the next few weeks.
      Powertrain Specs
      Visually there seem to be no changes made on the mechanical front. It is still likely to be powered by a BS6-compliant 293cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that features in the current iteration of Forty-Two.
      Jawa Forty Two Black Edition
      This unit is good enough to return an output of 26.5 bhp and 27.05 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a six-speed gearbox and is offered in two variants- single-channel ABS and dual-channel ABS. The test mule spotted recently is most probably the latter as it features disc brakes on both front and rear.
      Currently, Jawa Forty-Two has been priced between Rs 1.65 lakh and Rs 1.74 lakh (both prices ex-showroom). With the launch of Royal Enfield Meteor 350 and Honda H’Ness CB350, rivalry in the modern classic segment of motorcycles has intensified and a timely update by rival brands is a need of the hour.       One of the popular adventure-ready motorcycles in the country, Royal Enfield Himalayan will soon be launched in its updated avatar. Himalayan has been witnessing good demand in global markets as well and is currently the second most exported Royal Enfield motorcycle. The updated model could help boost sales further.
      Updated Himalayan design and colours
      In terms of design, updated Himalayan will be largely the same as earlier. A few minor changes can be incorporated, for example, a redesign of the metal frame mounted near the fuel tank. In the current model, the frame has been reported to inconvenience some taller riders, as it used to touch the knees.
      In the updated variant, the frame looks smaller and more forward-set. This will hopefully address any issues that riders may have faced when riding the current model.
      In line with the company’s strategy to increase personalization options for customers, 2021 Himalayan will get new colour options. These are shades of silver, matte black and pine green.

      It is possible that some existing colours such as solid white may be discontinued. In its current iteration, Himalayan is offered in colour options of Gravel Grey, Sleet Grey, Snow White, Granite Black, Rock Red, and Lake Blue.
      Updated Himalayan to get Tripper navigation
      One of the most important updates for 2021 Himalayan will be Tripper navigation, which was introduced for the first time with Royal Enfield Meteor 350. A segment-first feature, Tripper navigation is advantageous for users, as it does away with the need to use the mobile screen for turn-by-turn navigation. Tripper navigation system has a dedicated display unit located near the main instrument console, which displays the navigational arrows for the destination.
      For using Tripper navigation, users just need to pair it with their smartphone and use the Royal Enfield app to get directions to the destination. It is to note that Tripper display only shows navigational arrows and not calls or messages.
      2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan Granite Black
      Engine will be the same as the current model, a 411 cc BS6, air cooled, FI unit that is capable of churning out 24.3 bhp of max power and 32 Nm of max torque. It is mated to a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox. It was expected that power and torque output may be increased on the updated Himalayan – but that is not going to be the case.
      Mechanical parts will be the same as earlier such as the half-duplex split cradle frame, 41 mm telescopic front forks and monoshock with linkage suspension at the rear. Braking duties are performed by 300 mm disc at the front and 240 mm disc at the rear. Himalayan is offered with dual-channel ABS (switchable to single channel).
      With the updates, new Himalayan could cost slightly higher. The current model retails in the range of Rs 1.91 lakh to Rs 1.96 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom).

      Kabira KM 4000 Electric Motorcycle Spied In Goa – Launch In Feb 2021

      Kabira Mobility recently announced that it will soon be launching two high-speed electric bikes in India next month. Named KM 3000 and KM 4000, production and development of these two electric motorcycles has been completely localised.
      A few days ago, the company started accepting bookings for the two bikes through its official website. Days ahead of its launch, a testing prototype of the bike was spotted testing in Verna area of Goa where one of the facilities of Kabira Mobility is located.
      Going by images of the test mule, it looks as if it was KM 4000 since it had a naked design and more upright and more pointed tail section than KM 3000 which is a faired motorcycle. Images are credit to automotive enthusiast Dhruvik.
      Design & Features
      Covered in white paint, it is difficult to point out any distinguishing element from the spied images. While it was difficult to spot any badging in the bike, the test rider was seen wearing a T-shirt with Kabira mobility and its logo printed on its back.
      Kabira KM 4000 Electric Motorcycle
      According to the launch announcement, both these bikes are fairly modern in their designs with sleek aerodynamic profiles. Both bikes will be provided with smart features such as a fireproof battery, park assist and more. To make them an appealing option to consider, Kabira will also offer Road-Side Assistance (RSA), fast charging and combi brakes.
      Specifications
      Details about these motorcycles are very sparse at the moment. Both these electric bikes will be powered by a DeltaEV BLDC Motor which will be good enough for a maximum range of 150 km on a single charge. A top speed of 120 kmph can be clocked by these bikes.
      Spy shots reveal that the front wheel gets dual disc brakes – something that is yet to be seen on an electric motorcycle in India. It also gets a digital console and upside down forks in the front. Rear suspension is taken care by a monoshock. More details about the bike are expected to be revealed at the time of its launch next month.

      Suzuki Burgman Electric Scooter Spied Up Close – Chetak, Ather Rival

      With a rise in electric mobility solutions, many manufacturers are looking to introduce electric offerings in the near future especially in the two-wheeler segment. Plus with stricter emission norms in place, electric powertrains make good sense to bring down harmful pollutants in the air.
      Over recent past, many new electric scooters have been launched or revealed in India and many other manufacturers are planning to introduce such models in coming future. One of them is Suzuki which is planning to bring an electrified version of its power scooter Burgman.
      Latest Spy Shots
      Two prototypes of the electric scooter were recently spotted testing again in Delhi-NCR. Like in previous instances, the biggest highlight from the images is the absence of an exhaust canister which is clearly visible.
      The electric scooter is very similar to Burgman Street in terms of its design. Both test mules sported the same white and blue dual-tone paint scheme as in previous sightings.
      Suzuki Burgman Electric
      Suzuki had first revealed its intentions of developing an electric scooter for the Indian market back in 2018. However, at the time it wasn’t known that the Japanese manufacturer will be branding it as Burgman. Although tagging it as Burgman does seem a sensible decision since Suzuki’s first electric scooter will be expensive and it needs a strong donor with attractive styling and features to justify its price.
      Design & Features
      Speaking of its styling, it carries forward the maxi-style design of its petrol counterpart. It sports a white-blue paint scheme with blue highlights on the lower parts of the side panel and near handlebars.
      It also features dual shock absorbers now in order to handle the extra weight from the lithium-ion battery packs. Although it does feature standard telescopic forks at front and alloy wheels which are carried from the regular model.
      Suzuki Burgman Electric
      Apart from this, Suzuki is also set to offer all features which come on Burgman Street as standard on the electric scooter. These include an LED headlamp, LED taillights, a fully digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth as well as smartphone connectivity. A couple of months ago, Suzuki released the latest version of Suzuki Connect which now offers features such as Whatsapp alerts, SMS and CALL alerts, turn-by-turn navigation, charging status, riding status, etc.
      Expected Specifications
      Details of its powertrain are yet to be disclosed although one could expect Suzuki to offer a battery pack of 3-4 kWh and paired to a motor generating 5-6 kW of power. Its single-charge range would be around 80-90 km while it can attain a clock speed of around 80 kmph. It is expected to be offered at a price of over 1 lakh (ex-showroom). Upon its launch, it will compete against the likes of TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak and Ather 450X.
