Royal Enfield 650cc Cruiser KX650 Spied Testing With Pillion

    2021 Royal Enfield 650cc Cruiser
Royal Enfield is working on at least two new derivatives of its well received 650 cc parallel-twin platform

Royal Enfield’s product pipeline for this year looks very exiting. The company is in the process of transforming its entire portfolio, representing a clear shift in the paradigm. In order to achieve its long term goal of establishing leadership in the global medium displacement motorcycle segment, Royal Enfield needs to aggressively expand its product lineup, offer cool new features and increase the overall quality. That is exactly what brewing at the brand’s tech centers in India and the UK.
    Royal Enfield cruiser 650
Following the strong response to its flagship twin-clinder 650 cc models, Royal Enfield is working on variant extensions on this platform in a bid to cater to wider tastes.
First hint of a new family member was provided in the form of KX bobber concept at the EICMA 2018. After almost two years, first prototypes of a 650 cc twin-cylinder cruiser started to appear in public last year.
A near production ready prototype of the Royal Enfield cruiser 650 has been spotted up close once again in Chennai, giving us a proper idea on what to expect. The latest spy shot shows the test mule being tested with pillion. It is to be noted that RE is also working on a roadster variant which is sufficiently different from this cruiser as well as the existing Interceptor 650.
    2021 Royal Enfield 650cc Cruiser
With a low seat height, quintessential feet-forward riding position and a front heavy stance, the Royal Enfield cruiser 650 sticks to the script. The test mule appears to be riding on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels just like the Meteor 350.
The circular headlamp, turn indicators and taillight set a retro-classic tone and the simple fuel tank (we liked the KX’s unit better though) and instrument dial fit right into the scheme of things. Speaking of the instrument dial, it will incorporate Tripper Navigation system which is currently available in Meteor 350 and updated Himalayan.
    Hardware
In the interest of economies of scale, Royal Enfield is likely to carry forward the existing 650 cc twin-cylinder, air-cooled, parallel-twin engine which produces 47 hp and 57 Nm of torque in its current state of tune. The 6-speed transmission with tweaked ratios should make for good mile munching. The video gives us a sample of how the motorcycle sounds like and we like what we hear.
    2021 Royal Enfield 650cc Cruiser
In a first for modern Royal Enfields, the cruiser 650 is equipped with an inverted telescopic front fork. The rear employs traditional twin shock absorbers.
    Rivals
Globally, the Royal Enfield cruiser 650 will be aimed at the likes of Kawasaki Vulcan 650, Harley Davidson Street, Honda Rebel, and so on. In India, the upcoming medium displacement motorcycle is expected to be have a starting price a shade under INR 3 lakh (ex-showroom), making it a compelling proposition. More

2021 Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX To Come Equipped With Radar System

    2021 Kawasaki H2 SX
With the new Ninja H2 SX, Kawasaki joins the likes of BMW, KTM and Ducati to come equipped with radar-based systems

Kawasaki is currently working on developing the new generation Ninja H2 SX and a test mule of the same was recently spotted testing somewhere in Japan. According to recent reports, this new Ninja H2 SX is expected to come equipped with radar-based assistance systems from the end of 2021.
    Radar-Based System From Bosch
From a recent spy shot, we can spot a small camera hidden at the lower section of the windscreen which will be the first for a radar-based system. In addition, a small sensor unit has been placed under its headlight. To accommodate these inclusions, the Japanese bikemaker has made some updates to its front fascia.
Back in 2019, Kawasaki had announced its partnership with Bosch in order to equip its premium motorcycles with radar-based systems. Therefore, it makes good sense to introduce it in one of its flagship products which are already heavily loaded with features.
Although Kawasaki is not the only one to be offering this technology in the near future. Manufacturers such as KTM, BMW and Ducati have also presented similar technologies from Bosch in their respective offerings including 1290 Super Adventure S, R 1250 RT and Multistrada V4.
    2021 Kawasaki H2 SX
    Features & Updated Design
The prime functionality of this technology is to provide radar-based adaptive cruise control for easier long-distance touring. Besides this new feature, there are going to other new creature comforts on offer. For instance, a fully digital TFT instrument cluster replaces the earlier part-analogue and part-digital console. The safety kit will consist of an adaptive distance and speed control, a collision warning and a blind spot assistant.
The inclusion of new features has brought subtle changes to its styling just like its front fascia. Kawasaki has adapted the fairing, the windshield and the air ducts in accordance with the camera and sensor at front end. Contrary to recent convention, the license plate holder at the rear section is significantly longer and holds the license plate much lower.
This adds to the speculation that the Japanese superbike brand might also offer a rear-facing radar-based system just like Multistrada V4. Or could just be the case where Kawasaki wants to improve the splash protection for the pillion.
    2021 Kawasaki H2 SX
    Powertrain Specs
Mechanically, the upcoming Ninja H2 SX will not be any different from its predecessor. It will probably be underpinned by the same architecture and offer the same hardware setup. It will draw its power from a Euro-5 compliant 998cc Liquid-cooled, In-Line Four-cylinder engine which in its previous iteration churned out 200 PS of power and 137.3 Nm of peak torque.
Ninja h2 SX is slated to make its debut towards the end of this year and is likely to go on sale starting early next year. It is still too early to comment whether or not it will arrive on Indian shores although we hope it does.

New Bajaj Pulsar 160 NS Spied Testing – Launch Likely In 2021

    Image – Jupiter Lobo
The new Bajaj Pulsar NS 160 gets significant cosmetic revision while the hardware appear to be retained

The Bajaj Pulsar NS family of street fighters aged rather well. Started its innings with a 200 cc variant almost a decade ago, the NS nameplate later spawned a popular 160 variant with identical styling. The competition has come up with modern and better equipped compact displacement naked motorcycles, prompting Bajaj Auto to revisit the drawing board.
New Bajaj Pulsar NS 160 spotted testing
A prototype of what appears to be the next generation Bajaj Pulsar NS has been spotted testing on the public road for the first time. The air-cooling fins on the engine block strongly indicate that this is a 160 cc variant. The tyre sizes, thin front telescopic forks and box section swing arm also point towards the smaller engined variant.
The revised bodywork appears to be production ready but the finer details are concealed by the camouflage. The most significant visual change is the fuel tank which now features longer extensions. The headlamp is also completely new with a compact projector unit and a redesigned casing.
The tailpiece continues to retain familiarity but we expect the taillight to undergo revision. It is reasonable to assume that the new Bajaj Pulsar NS 160 will receive an updated fully digital instrument console. Spy images are credit to automotive enthusiast Jupiter Logo.
    Image – Jupiter Lobo
    Specifications
The time proven 160.3 cc air / oil-cooled single-cylinder motor is expected to be carried forward. The underbelly exhaust has been done away with in favour of a conventional canister in a bid to meet the stricter emission standards. In its current avatar, the motor produces a healthy 17.2 hp and 14.6 Nm of torque, and is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Changes, if any, are likely to be nominal.
The perimeter frame, suspension and braking setup appear to have been carried forward without any changes. The sporty compact displacement naked motorcycle is equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, front and rear discs with single-channel ABS.
Bigger engined variant on its way?
It is only a matter of time before the Pulsar NS 200 receives a successor and it is expected to adopt the bigger 250 cc liquid-cooled motor from the Dominar. A bigger engine would help create a sufficient distance from its 160 cc sibling in terms of market positioning and pricing, while also strengthening the brand’s quarter liter lineup.
    Rivals
The new Bajaj Pulsar NS 160 will be pitted against the TVS Apache RTR 160, Hero Xtreme 160R and Yamaha FZS-FI. The brand pull and a modern design should give the new naked Pulsar an edge over its rivals. We expect the new motorcycle to be ready for the market sometime in the second half of this year to take advantage of the festive season. Expect a marginal increase in the price from current INR 1.10 lakh (Ex-showroom). More

Royal Enfield Hunter 350 Instrument Cluster Spied – Tripper Navigation Missing

    Royal Enfield Hunter 350 Spied
The Royal Enfield Hunter 350 employs an eccentrically placed digi-analog instrument console

A camouflaged prototype Royal Enfield Hunter with some accessories was spied up close while stationary. The test mule appears to be not fully production ready but not far from it either. The latest spy shots give us a clear idea on how the motorcycle’s instrument panel looks like.
    Royal Enfield Hunter 350
Royal Enfield is currently working on building a strong and eclectic range of 350 cc motorcycles based on its new generation J platform. The Meteor 350 which replaced the Thunderbird was the first of many new RE’s to come. While the loyalists are eagerly waiting for the next generation Classic 350, Royal Enfield threw a surprise in the form of another retro-classic Roadster.
The Eicher-owned two wheeler brand has registered Hunter as a trademark, leading us to believe that the new 350 cc roadster will carry this moniker. To be positioned alongside the new Classic 350 as a sportier alternative to lure younger audience, the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 will feature a sleek fuel tank, circular headlamp, possibly with LED elements, single-piece seat, LED taillight and a simple tailpiece.
Going by the prototype, the Hunter 350 is most likely to be equipped with alloy wheels and black finished engine and exhaust pipe. The prototype was wearing chrome finished headlamp cowl but we expect the final production version to feature a black unit.
Production version is expected to offer Tripper Navigation as well
The Royal Enfield Hunter 350 employs a unique digi analog instrument console with a rectangular MID. While this particular mule does not feature an additional dial for Tripper Navigation system (Smartphone enabled turn-by-turn navigation), it is reasonable to assume the motorcycle to be offered with it at the time of launch.
    Specifications
The Royal Enfield Hunter 350, as the spyshot shows, borrows its 349 cc air-cooled engine from the Meteor 350. Widely acclaimed for being much more refined than its predecessor, the new mill dishes out 20.2 hp and 27 Nm of torque. Gearbox is a conventional 5-speed unit.
There is nothing particularly interesting about the suspension or braking system. The roadster employs traditional telescopic front forks covered with rubber gaiters, and twin-rear shock absorbers. Like all modern Royal Enfields, the Hunter is equipped with front and rear disc brakes with dual-channel ABS.
Royal Enfield Hunter 350 Instrument Cluster – Analog Speedometer, Digital MID
On board the Royal Enfield Hunter, the speedometer is analog and is seen with markings in kmph as well as mph. The speedo is listed till max speed of 160 kmph / 100 mph – just like the new Meteor 350. Other details like fuel level, trip meters, etc are expected to be listed in the digital MID.
    Market positioning
With the Royal Enfield Hunter 350, the company would be aiming to fend off fresh competition like the Honda CB350. Royal Enfield’s leadership in the Indian medium displacement segment continues to be strong even during the challenging year that was 2020.
The Classic 350 continues to be a cash cow for the brand and with the new gen model coming later this year, things are only going to get stronger. The Hunter will be playing a consolidating role.

Jawa 42 In New Colours Of Black, White, Red Launch Soon – Production Starts

    2021 Jawa 42 Matte Red
Jawa 42 Matte Black and Matte Red colour options are to be launched soon

Classic Legends, a fairly new entrant into the Indian motorcycle segment, achieved a major milestone recently. Jawa sales crossed the 50,000 unit mark and what makes this even noteworthy is that this target was reached in precisely 1 year of production.
The company states that this half century mark would have been achieved much earlier had the lockdown not been announced in March this year in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. With production and demand back on track, Jawa is getting ready to launch new colour options of the Jawa 42. Latest images suggest that the production has already started at company plant.
    2021 Jawa 42 White
    Updated Jawa 42
The existing lineup of Jawa 42 motorcycles will continue as is. In addition to those, the company will launch new range with alloy wheels and blacked out treatment. Gone will be the chrome from this range of Jawa 42. New accessories will also be on offer.
This is probably something similar to what Royal Enfield had done to the Thunderbird range when they had launched the Thunderbird X. It remains to be seen if this new Jawa range will be given a new name, or will be called same.
    2021 Jawa 42 Black
As can be seen in the images, the updated Jawa 42 will be offered in new colour options of White, Matte Black and Matte Red. It will also be offered in currently available colour options. Except for the painted body panels and fuel tank, everything else is in black.
    Prices and Engine Specs
After the recent price hike, the Jawa and Jawa 42 are currently priced at Rs.1.76 lakhs and Rs.1.63 lakhs respectively for the single ABS variant. Dual ABS costs Rs 1.85 lakh and Rs 1.72 lakh while the Perak carries a price tag of Rs.1.97 lakhs. These are ex-sh prices. Expect the new Jawa 42 range with alloys and black treatment to be expensive by about Rs 5-10k.
The Jawa and Jawa 42 are powered by the same BS6 compliant 293cc, liquid cooled, single cylinder engine making 26.51hp power and 27.05 Nm torque. The Perak on the other hand gets a more powerful 344cc engine that generates 30 hp power and 32.74 Nm torque mated to a 6 speed gearbox.
    2021 Jawa 42 Matte Red
    Sales Boost
Classic Legends CEO Ashish Singh Joshi is confident of achieving the next 50,000 unit mark in a far less time span. The three bikes are produced at the Mahindra manufacturing unit in Pithampur near Indore in Madhya Pradesh with an annual capacity of 5 lakh units per annum. Exports are also undertaken to countries such as Nepal and Europe even as waiting period in the country extends to a minimum of two months. More

New-Gen Royal Enfield Classic 350 Spied With LED Taillights, Turn Indicators

    2021 Royal Enfield Classic 350
Design of the new-gen Royal Enfield Classic 350 is not expected to deviate from the current model

Royal Enfield is currently beaming with the success of its new cruiser Meteor 350 which launched late last year and had made an instant impression in the minds of bikers. This is just the beginning as the Chennai-based bikemaker is planning to launch its next generation of motorcycles in the coming months.
A few months back, the company revealed its roadmap ahead as it is planning on launching one bike every quarter for the next seven years. This will start from this year with the launch of new generation Classic 350. The new-gen model of the retro modern motorcycle has been spotted testing on numerous occasions in recent past.
Recently, test mules of the new-gen Classic 350 were spotted testing again in their production-spec models. As reported in our previous scoops, cosmetic changes on the new-gen model are minimal in order to improve ergonomics since makers want to carry forward the retro appeal of the motorcycle.
    Design & Expected Features
It features similar design elements to the current model including round halogen headlamps, teardrop-shaped fuel tank, chrome rearview mirrors, chrome-plated exhaust and broad rear fenders. Only notable updates visible in the current set of spy shots are a narrower round-shaped LED taillight and turn indicators which are a first for Classic 350. It is also expected to feature a circular LED DRL around the headlamp.
    [embedded content]
The split seats are new and appear to be better cushioned for a more comfortable ride. At rear, it also gets a new grab rail for the pillion which is positioned a little taller for a better reach. Other changes expected to be included are new handlebar grips, switchgears and an updated instrument cluster with a semi-digital display.
We expect, 2021 Classic 350 to be offered with the new Tripper Navigation system first introduced in Meteor 350 recently. Overall, fit and finish of materials are expected to be a notch higher than the outgoing model.
    New Underpinnings
As expected, new Classic 350 will share many components with RE’s Meteor 350. For starters, it will be based on the same J platform as the cruiser. It will now be underpinned by a double-cradle chassis instead of a single downtube frame as in the current model. Not much alterations are expected on the new bike’s suspension setup.
    New Engine, Gearbox
In terms of its powertrain, new 2021 Classic 350 will be powered by an all-new 349cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine which makes an output of 20.2 bhp and 27 Nm of peak torque. This is 1 bhp more and 1 Nm less than the outgoing 346cc UCE engine in the current Classic 350. This unit will be paired with a new 5-speed gearbox with fewer moving components in order to reduce friction.
Upon its launch, it will compete against rivals in the segment including Jawa Forty-Two, Benelli Imperiale and Honda H’Ness Cb350. One can expect the new-gen Classic 350 to launch by June 2021.

2021 Royal Enfield 650cc Cruiser. Credit – Abhinav Bhatt
Likely to be called the Royal Enfield KX 650 – pricing expected to start from around Rs.3.5 lakhs

Royal Enfield is actively testing the new 650 Cruiser, which is expected to launch later this year. It has been spied in a near production format recently by Abhinav Bhatt / Rishi Raj Saini. Latest spy shots shows the front angle in a much better way than before – revealing some hardware and styling cues.
    Features and Hardware
The model on test draws its inspiration from the KX Bobber Concept which was on display at 2019 EICMA. Design elements include a rounded headlamp, split seating, tear drop shaped fuel tank and being a cruiser bike.
Though there is no windscreen seen in this image, there will be one on offer, as can be seen there is fitting made for the same. The 650 Cruiser sits on alloy wheels fitted with tubeless tyres.
Royal Enfield 650 cruiser gets suspension via upside down forks in the front and twin springs at the rear. Braking is through single discs at the front and rear with dual channel ABS offered as standard. Tripper Navigation System will also be a part of its features.
    [embedded content]
Being set to launch in the Cruiser segment, the new RE 650cc motorcycle sports a pillion backrest. One can also notice there is support on the rear for fitting accessories like panniers.
    Engine Specs
The upcoming cruiser will share its engine lineup with the RE Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. This 648cc, twin cylinder, air cooled engine makes 47 hp power and 52 Nm torque on the 650 Twins mated to a 6 speed gearbox. Set for launch in the months ahead, the RE Roadster 650 could be priced from Rs.3.5 lakhs and will take on the Kawasaki Vulcan S in its segment.
The launch of the new 650 Cruiser is in line with an announcement that Royal Enfield had made a few weeks ago. As per that, the company will launch one new motorcycle every quarter, for the next 7 years. That means 4 new motorcycles launched every year. The new Meteor 350 was the first motorcycle which was launched under this new plan.
Along with the 650 Cruiser, Royal Enfield plans to expand its Indian portfolio with bikes ranging from 250cc to 750cc. These will include the new-generation RE Classic 350, a 350cc version of the Interceptor motorcycle, updated version of the RE Himalayan, INT 650 and GT 650.

    2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan Silver
Apart from new colour options, the updated Royal Enfield Himalayan will be offered with a Tripper Navigation system

Royal Enfield dealers have started accepting unofficial bookings for the updated 2021 Himalayan. The latest iteration of the adventure tourer has already started reaching dealerships across the country and is expected to reach its customers in the next few days.
As per leaked pricing, the updated Himalayan will be available at a starting price of Rs 2.51 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards which is a premium of Rs 20k over its predecessor. Official prices are to be announced on 10th Feb, tomorrow at launch.
Launch of the new Hinalayan was expected last month, however, due to some reasons, it got delayed. Test mules of the adventure bike have been spotted and clicked on multiple occasions in recent past. Latest spy shots are credit to bijit_bk.
    Updated Cosmetics
In the latest iteration of the motorcycle, Royal Enfield has incorporated a handful of cosmetic updates along with new paint scheme options. These new colour options include Pine Green, Granite Black and Mirage Silver.
    2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan
While some of the earlier options have been included some colour schemes such as Lake Blue, Gravel Grey and Rock Red have been retained in the updated version of the adventure tourer. Along with this, the motorcycle now comes with a new contrasting tan-coloured seat with a high foam density.
It was expected that the bike will get a new headlamp cluster that sports an LED DRL ring around its circumference. But that seems not to be the case in latest spy shots. Another notable update is a taller windshield in order to enhance the bike’s road presence and improved protection from gusting winds.
Other design highlights retained from the previous model are a round headlamp, a sculpted fuel tank, rearview mirrors, sleek turn indicators, a slim tail section and an upswept exhaust. The new model also comes with an updated luggage rack with a flat surface metal plate that ensures a larger space to mount one’s luggage.
2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan Instrument Cluster with Tripper Navigation
    Tripper Navigation
In terms of features, the updated Himalayan gets the all-important Tripper Navigation feature which was first introduced in the recently launched Meteor 350. This new feature is helpful in getting turn-by-turn navigation on long journeys.
It allows riders to connect their smartphones to the system via Bluetooth. The rider is required to enter the destination on the Royal Enfield’s App on the phone and the tripper screen on the instrument cluster will receive all navigation details.
    Mechanical Specifications
Mechanically, it is identical to its outgoing predecessor. It is powered by the same 411cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that pushes out 24.3bhp at 6,500rpm and 32Nm of torque between 4,000rpm – 4,500rpm. This unit is paired with a 5-speed gearbox.
Its hardware is also retained from the previous Himalayan. This includes a suspension setup which consists of a 41mm telescopic forks upfront and a monoshock at rear. Anchoring duties are handled by front and rear disc brakes assisted switchable ABS (anti-lock braking system).
