    Design of the new-gen Royal Enfield Classic 350 is not expected to deviate from the current model

    Royal Enfield is currently beaming with the success of its new cruiser Meteor 350 which launched late last year and had made an instant impression in the minds of bikers. This is just the beginning as the Chennai-based bikemaker is planning to launch its next generation of motorcycles in the coming months.
    A few months back, the company revealed its roadmap ahead as it is planning on launching one bike every quarter for the next seven years. This will start from this year with the launch of new generation Classic 350. The new-gen model of the retro modern motorcycle has been spotted testing on numerous occasions in recent past.
    Recently, test mules of the new-gen Classic 350 were spotted testing again in their production-spec models. As reported in our previous scoops, cosmetic changes on the new-gen model are minimal in order to improve ergonomics since makers want to carry forward the retro appeal of the motorcycle.
    Design & Expected Features
    It features similar design elements to the current model including round halogen headlamps, teardrop-shaped fuel tank, chrome rearview mirrors, chrome-plated exhaust and broad rear fenders. Only notable updates visible in the current set of spy shots are a narrower round-shaped LED taillight and turn indicators which are a first for Classic 350. It is also expected to feature a circular LED DRL around the headlamp.

    The split seats are new and appear to be better cushioned for a more comfortable ride. At rear, it also gets a new grab rail for the pillion which is positioned a little taller for a better reach. Other changes expected to be included are new handlebar grips, switchgears and an updated instrument cluster with a semi-digital display.
    We expect, 2021 Classic 350 to be offered with the new Tripper Navigation system first introduced in Meteor 350 recently. Overall, fit and finish of materials are expected to be a notch higher than the outgoing model.
    New Underpinnings
    As expected, new Classic 350 will share many components with RE’s Meteor 350. For starters, it will be based on the same J platform as the cruiser. It will now be underpinned by a double-cradle chassis instead of a single downtube frame as in the current model. Not much alterations are expected on the new bike’s suspension setup.
    New Engine, Gearbox
    In terms of its powertrain, new 2021 Classic 350 will be powered by an all-new 349cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine which makes an output of 20.2 bhp and 27 Nm of peak torque. This is 1 bhp more and 1 Nm less than the outgoing 346cc UCE engine in the current Classic 350. This unit will be paired with a new 5-speed gearbox with fewer moving components in order to reduce friction.
    Upon its launch, it will compete against rivals in the segment including Jawa Forty-Two, Benelli Imperiale and Honda H’Ness Cb350. One can expect the new-gen Classic 350 to launch by June 2021.

    Royal Enfield Cruiser KX650 Spied Again – Riding Stance Revealed

    Likely to be called the Royal Enfield KX 650 – pricing expected to start from around Rs.3.5 lakhs

    Royal Enfield is actively testing the new 650 Cruiser, which is expected to launch later this year. It has been spied in a near production format recently by Abhinav Bhatt / Rishi Raj Saini. Latest spy shots shows the front angle in a much better way than before – revealing some hardware and styling cues.
    Features and Hardware
    The model on test draws its inspiration from the KX Bobber Concept which was on display at 2019 EICMA. Design elements include a rounded headlamp, split seating, tear drop shaped fuel tank and being a cruiser bike.
    Though there is no windscreen seen in this image, there will be one on offer, as can be seen there is fitting made for the same. The 650 Cruiser sits on alloy wheels fitted with tubeless tyres.
    Royal Enfield 650 cruiser gets suspension via upside down forks in the front and twin springs at the rear. Braking is through single discs at the front and rear with dual channel ABS offered as standard. Tripper Navigation System will also be a part of its features.

    Being set to launch in the Cruiser segment, the new RE 650cc motorcycle sports a pillion backrest. One can also notice there is support on the rear for fitting accessories like panniers.
    Engine Specs
    The upcoming cruiser will share its engine lineup with the RE Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. This 648cc, twin cylinder, air cooled engine makes 47 hp power and 52 Nm torque on the 650 Twins mated to a 6 speed gearbox. Set for launch in the months ahead, the RE Roadster 650 could be priced from Rs.3.5 lakhs and will take on the Kawasaki Vulcan S in its segment.
    The launch of the new 650 Cruiser is in line with an announcement that Royal Enfield had made a few weeks ago. As per that, the company will launch one new motorcycle every quarter, for the next 7 years. That means 4 new motorcycles launched every year. The new Meteor 350 was the first motorcycle which was launched under this new plan.
    Along with the 650 Cruiser, Royal Enfield plans to expand its Indian portfolio with bikes ranging from 250cc to 750cc. These will include the new-generation RE Classic 350, a 350cc version of the Interceptor motorcycle, updated version of the RE Himalayan, INT 650 and GT 650.

    New Royal Enfield Himalayan Silver Fully Revealed Ahead Of Launch

    Royal Enfield dealers have started accepting unofficial bookings for the updated 2021 Himalayan. The latest iteration of the adventure tourer has already started reaching dealerships across the country and is expected to reach its customers in the next few days.
    As per leaked pricing, the updated Himalayan will be available at a starting price of Rs 2.51 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards which is a premium of Rs 20k over its predecessor. Official prices are to be announced on 10th Feb, tomorrow at launch.
    Launch of the new Hinalayan was expected last month, however, due to some reasons, it got delayed. Test mules of the adventure bike have been spotted and clicked on multiple occasions in recent past. Latest spy shots are credit to bijit_bk.
    Updated Cosmetics
    In the latest iteration of the motorcycle, Royal Enfield has incorporated a handful of cosmetic updates along with new paint scheme options. These new colour options include Pine Green, Granite Black and Mirage Silver.

    While some of the earlier options have been included some colour schemes such as Lake Blue, Gravel Grey and Rock Red have been retained in the updated version of the adventure tourer. Along with this, the motorcycle now comes with a new contrasting tan-coloured seat with a high foam density.
    It was expected that the bike will get a new headlamp cluster that sports an LED DRL ring around its circumference. But that seems not to be the case in latest spy shots. Another notable update is a taller windshield in order to enhance the bike’s road presence and improved protection from gusting winds.
    Other design highlights retained from the previous model are a round headlamp, a sculpted fuel tank, rearview mirrors, sleek turn indicators, a slim tail section and an upswept exhaust. The new model also comes with an updated luggage rack with a flat surface metal plate that ensures a larger space to mount one’s luggage.

    Tripper Navigation
    In terms of features, the updated Himalayan gets the all-important Tripper Navigation feature which was first introduced in the recently launched Meteor 350. This new feature is helpful in getting turn-by-turn navigation on long journeys.
    It allows riders to connect their smartphones to the system via Bluetooth. The rider is required to enter the destination on the Royal Enfield’s App on the phone and the tripper screen on the instrument cluster will receive all navigation details.
    Mechanical Specifications
    Mechanically, it is identical to its outgoing predecessor. It is powered by the same 411cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that pushes out 24.3bhp at 6,500rpm and 32Nm of torque between 4,000rpm – 4,500rpm. This unit is paired with a 5-speed gearbox.
    Its hardware is also retained from the previous Himalayan. This includes a suspension setup which consists of a 41mm telescopic forks upfront and a monoshock at rear. Anchoring duties are handled by front and rear disc brakes assisted switchable ABS (anti-lock braking system).

    Royal Enfield is expanding its product portfolio with launch of one new motorcycle in the 250cc-750cc range every three months

    Royal Enfield has an interesting array of new models planned for launch in the New Year. These include the next gen RE Classic 350, Interceptor 350, facelifted Interceptor / Continental 650 and a 650cc cruiser bike. But ahead of all that, Royal Enfield will launch an updated version of the Himalayan.
    Launch was expected to take place last month, but that did not happen. But now, first units of the updated Himalayan motorcycle have started arriving at company dealership. Here are latest spy shots – credit to automotive enthusiast Ram Prasath and Gideon Tony.

    As can be seen in the spy image, 2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan comes with an all new shade of Green. Apart from the new colour, it also gets Tripper Navigation system, that is already on offer with Meteor 350. The Meteor 350 was the first bike to receive this feature which will now be extended to other bikes in the company lineup.
    Tripper Navigation allows riders to connect their smartphones to the system via Bluetooth and receive turn navigation details. Along with this Tripper Navigation, the 2021 RE Himalayan will likely see updates in the form of a new headlamp which will sport an LED ring to work as a DRL.

    New colour options are also be a part of the update. The current Himalayan is presented in color options of Granite Black, Snow White, Sleet Grey, Gravel Grey and Rock Red. New colours include Green, White and Silver.
    Engine and Transmission
    The 2021 RE Himalayan will be powered by the same 411cc, single cylinder engine which was recently updated to BS6 emission standards. This engine makes 24.3 bhp power at 6,500 rpm and 32 Nm torque at 4,000 to 4500 rpm. The engine gets mated to a 5 speed gearbox.

    2021 KTM RC 390 Spied In Production-Ready Guise Ahead Of Launch

    The fully faired KTM supersports motorcycle is expected to go on sale sometime later this year

    The KTM RC390 has been on the market for quite sometime and is due for a replacement. Ever since its launch in 2013, the fully faired medium displacement bike has been dominating its segment but competition has gotten intense in recent times. KTM is working on a new generation model which has been spotted in Europe without any camouflage in its near-production-ready guise.
    2021 KTM RC 390 – What’s new?
    As the previous spyshots already confirmed, the 2021 KTM RC 390 employs a completely new design. Enjoying the center stage is a full LED headlamp which has now become the Austrian-brand’s signature.
    The transparent fairing around the headlamp is wider than before to facilitate better wind protection to the rider. It also houses funky boomerang-shaped LED turn indicators. Side panels of the fairing sport air vents for optimized flow. Even the new gen KTM RC 200 gets similar design, which was recently spotted at Bajaj plant in India.
    The new generation RC 390 also benefits from a larger fuel tank for improved range, and a new rear sub-frame which is designed to make the motorcycle more comfortable than before for tall riders. The new handlebar is also expected to bring about an improvement in the supersport motorcycle’s overall ergonomics.

    Not surprisingly, the 2021 KTM RC 390 adopts the brand’s color TFT instrument cluster which is also seen on the Duke 390. This particular prototype seems to be testing different front and rear alloy wheels but the production version would be sporting identical units at the front and rear.
    Specifications
    The 373 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine has achieved much fame among performance enthusiasts with its sprightly 44 hp and 35 Nm of torque. The motor is connected to a 6-speed gearbox by means of a slipper clutch. Save for a few emission tweaks including a larger exhaust canister, the 2021 KTM RC 390 is not likely to feature any drastic change in performance.
    While the WP inverted telescopic front and monoshock rear suspension system has has been retained, the new motorcycle benefits from a larger front disc for better stopping power. Dual-channel ABS will be standard and KTM could throw in an IMU to make it sensitive to corners.

    Launch
    The 2021 KTM RC 390 is scheduled to go on sale internationally later this year. Just like its predecessor, the fully faired compact displacement motorcycle will be made by Bajaj Auto at its Chakan facility near Pune. The new platform will also spawn other displacement variants including 125, 200 and 250 depending on the market. We expect the new model to be accompanied by a nominal increase in its price tag.
    In global markets, competition would come from fellow A2 warriors such as the Kawasaki Ninja 400, Honda CBR500R, Yamaha YZF-R3 and so on. We expect the new model to continue its edge as the most powerful product in its segment.

    Ola Electric acquired Dutch-based Etergo electric scooter manufacturer last year and is working on building what is expected to be the world’s largest scooter factory. The company has tied up with Siemens to built the aforementioned factory in Tamil Nadu with an investment of INR 2,400 cr. The Ola electric scooter is expected to be launched in India sometime in second half of 2021.

    The Etergo AppScooter aka Ola electric scooter has been spotted testing at what looks like a private test facility in India. The camouflaged prototypes are identical to the international version in terms of styling and equipment. The scooter adopts a sleek bodywork with LED headlight, an unconventional single telescopic front suspension, alloy wheels, etc.
    The final specifications of the electric powertrain are not clear as of now but the AppScooter’s removable lithium-ion battery configuration is expected to be retained. Depending on the number of cells used, the scooter’s maximum range can be up to 240 km on a single charge. The 0-45 kmph comes in about 3.9 seconds and the scooter has an estimated top speed of around 100 kmph.
    Ola may make some noticeable changes to the AppScooter to make is more suitable for the Indian market and to keep the costs in check. There could also be multiple variants with different battery sizes to cover a wider range of audience.

    Being a premium product, the Ola electric scooter will feature LED headlamp, LED tailight, alloy wheels, front disc brake, colour TFT instrument display with smartphone connectivity features, a dedicated smartphone app to interact with the scooter and so on.
    We expect the scooter to be priced upward to INR 1 lakh (ex-showroom). Intended rivals will be Ather 450X, Bajaj e-Chetak, TVS iQube and a whole other premium electric scooters that are on their way to our market.
    Manufacturing
    Upon completion, Ola Electric’s Tamil Nadu plant is said to generate 10,000 employment opportunities and have an installed annual production capacity of 2 million units. In addition to serving the promising Indian electric scooter market, the upcoming factory will also manufacture Ola electric scooter for international markets with focus on Europe, Asia and Latin America.
    As of now, achieving large scale production from the get go has been a challenge for the e-mobility startups in the country but with massive investment in the factory, Ola seems to have this issue covered (provided supply chain infrastructure is sorted as well). Kick starting retail operations across the country from day one would help Ola slingshot ahead of its rivals who are trying a phase-wise launch due to production and supply chain constraints.

    These leaked images were saved when Royal Enfield was most likely testing the updated Himalayan and its features / customisations on offer via the official website and the mobile app. As per the leak, price of 2021 Himalayan is Rs 2,51,565, ex-sh.

    2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan is more about functional improvements rather than visual updates. In terms of design, it remains largely the same as earlier. However, it does provide more personalization options to customers in the form of three new colours. These are Pine Green, Mirage Silver and Granite Black.
    A unique aspect about the new colour themes is that these motorcycles will have contrasting brown seats. While the brown seat compliments the look and feel of Mirage Silver and Granite Black colours, it looks a bit radical with the Pine Green colour option. The brown seat is expected to offer more comfort, as it utilizes high density foam.

    Tripper system is hugely beneficial, as users don’t need to use their smartphone to see navigational directions. They just need the Royal Enfield app to connect to the Tripper system and enter the required destination. Once that is done, the Tripper screen continues to display navigational arrows. It works with Google maps in the background.

    Classic Legends have been actively testing its retro-styled classic motorcycle Forty-Two ahead of its launch. The new set of images show the entry-level Jawa with a new pair of blacked-out alloy wheels instead of conventional wire-spoke wheels. Another set of images with a similar setup has surfaced on the internet.
    The latest spy shots have been clicked by automotive enthusiast Sai somewhere near Pune. These new wheels might be wrapped around by tubeless tyres as they are easier to repair in case of a puncture. The changes are not only limited to the wheels only.

    Cosmetic Updates
    As evident from the new set of spy images, there are a few other cosmetic changes. This includes blacked-out mechanical components such as its exhaust pipe, front and rear suspension setup, black headlamp bezel and turn indicator housings.
    Even the engine and gearbox setup has also been painted black instead of a traditional chrome setup. The whole all-black theme adds a nice modern flavour to the retro motorcycle. Other notable changes included a single-piece grab rail for the pillion and a new stitching pattern for the seat.

    Jawa would also want to improve the quality of foam beneath the seat as consumers have lots of complaints regarding Forty Two’s seating comfort, especially for the pillion. Although, going by the images, shape of the seat has been kept intact. A short flyscreen has also been added but that seems to be part of an accessory package.

    While details regarding this update are still very thin, we expect a similar tyre setup to be included to other Jawa models including Jawa Classic and Perak. It might also be the case that this update might be included as a whole new variant in Forty Two’s lineup. One can expect this iteration of the retro motorcycle to make hit showrooms in the next few weeks.
    Powertrain Specs
    Visually there seem to be no changes made on the mechanical front. It is still likely to be powered by a BS6-compliant 293cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that features in the current iteration of Forty-Two.
    Jawa Forty Two Black Edition
    This unit is good enough to return an output of 26.5 bhp and 27.05 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a six-speed gearbox and is offered in two variants- single-channel ABS and dual-channel ABS. The test mule spotted recently is most probably the latter as it features disc brakes on both front and rear.
    Currently, Jawa Forty-Two has been priced between Rs 1.65 lakh and Rs 1.74 lakh (both prices ex-showroom). With the launch of Royal Enfield Meteor 350 and Honda H’Ness CB350, rivalry in the modern classic segment of motorcycles has intensified and a timely update by rival brands is a need of the hour. More
