      New TVS Electric Scooter Spied Testing For First Time – 2022 Launch

      TVS is among the auto companies that have made aggressive plans to target the EV space. Investments worth Rs 1,200 have been earmarked for the purpose. A significant portion of the funds will be utilized to setup a new manufacturing facility that will cater to EVs such scooters, motorcycles, three-wheelers, etc.
      New TVS Electric Scooter Spied
      Latest spy shots reveal a new electric scooter on road tests near TVS manufacturing facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. These exclusive spy shots are credit to automotive enthusiast V Mathpati. Design of the e-scooter indicates that it is most likely a load carrier, meant for last-mile deliveries in B2B and B2C space. It has a flat seat with space at the rear for loading cargo items. The flat floorboard also has ample space for cargo.
      TVS new electric scooter has sober styling with minimal body panels. It appears to be using large alloy wheels, possibly 12-inch units. These will come handy for optimal control and balance during cargo operations. Suspension system comprises telescopic forks at front and dual rear shock absorbers. The scooter has a rectangular, full-digital instrument console.
      While specs of TVS new electric scooter are not available, it could be close to that of iQube. The latter is equipped with a 2.25kWh battery pack that powers a 4.4kW hub-mounted BLDC motor. It generates 3kW power and peak torque of 140 Nm. iQube claimed range is 75km. This new TVS scooter could get a larger battery, delivering higher range.
      New TVS Electric Scooter
      When launched, TVS new electric scooter will primarily take on Honda Benly e electric scooter. Benly e is scheduled for launch in India next year. Honda is moving fast with its plans and has already setup a new subsidiary in India.
      This unit will focus on manufacturing battery packs, as required for Honda’s upcoming electric scooters, motorcycles and other small EVs. The subsidiary will also manage technologies and operations related to battery charging and swapping infrastructure.
      TVS charging network expansion
      To ensure users don’t have to face issues like range anxiety, TVS is building a vast network of charging stations. This is being done in collaboration with other entities such as Tata Power. As per the agreement between the two companies, the focus will be on increasing use of solar power across charging stations.
      New TVS Electric Scooter
      TVS charging network will cater to both personal vehicles and cargo carriers in two-wheeler and three-wheeler segment. It will have both AC charging network as well as DC fast-charging network.
      The strategic partnership with Tata is significant, as the company already operates around 700 public chargers across 120 cities. The company also has presence across home and workplace charging and captive charging stations.
      Along with commuter and cargo segment, TVS will also be targeting the premium EV segment. For this, TVS has expanded its partnership with BMW to include design and development of new electric scooters, motorcycles and concepts. More

      In the 650cc segment, Royal Enfield offers the Interceptor and the Continental GT. Both these motorcycles are the best selling motorcycles in the segment in the country. They are also the only 650cc motorcycles which are made in India and exported around the world.
      These flagship motorcycles have been on sale for a few years now. While it still carries a very minimalistic approach and is far from the sophisticated technologies offered in modern premium machines, it also gets some useful features not seen before from the Chennai-based manufacturer. Earlier this year, they did get a minor update. But it still missed out on features like tripper navigation, which was first introduced on the Meteor 350 last year, and on the Classic 350 in Sep 2021.
      2022 Royal Enfield 650 Update
      It is likely that Royal Enfield will dish out more updates to the 650 Twins in 2022. Apart from adding Tripper Navigation system, RE could also update the exhaust system. Instead of the twin exhaust setup (one on each side), RE could offer a single side exhaust system, as seen in the latest test mule that was spied near company plant in Chennai.
      The motorcycle remains same – twin cylinder 650cc. It is only the exhaust system, which will be routed via a single end-can, instead of the double end-can in current 650 RE. It is not clear as to why Royal Enfield is testing a new exhaust system with single end-can. Many customers who are buying the RE 650, want the dual end-can exhaust.
      New Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 With Single Side Exhaust
      There could be some benefits though, of the single side exhaust. Reducing the exhaust end can to just 1, will help reduce the weight by a few kgs. The upswept end-can of test mule will reduce the width of the motorcycle, allowing ease of riding in traffic or in tight spaces. It will also be easier to caliberate as well as source – especially in these times of global parts shortage.
      Tripper Navigation
      Other update expected on board the 2022 650 Twins, is the Tripper Navigation system. This offers turn-by-turn navigation as standard across the range. Meteor 350 was the first bike to be laced with such a feature. It is now also on offer with Classic 350 new gen.
      The Tripper comes in two parts- the pod beside the instrument cluster and the mobile app. While the pod acts as a face, the app acts a brain which essentially means that the rider enters coordinates of the location in the app and the display pod shows turn-by-turn instructions of the route.
      New Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 With Single Side Exhaust
      The app displays information from Google Location and Maps by making use of the smartphone’s processing power as well as GPS for navigation. Using this app also means that navigation won’t be compromised even outside the network coverage area. The display pod not only provides navigation commands with arrows and distances but also captures the rider’s attention by flashing the arrows when a turn approaches close.
      With the arrows gradually filling in when turn approaches, it gets caught in the rider’s peripheral vision which tells the rider to take appropriate action without getting distracted from the road. Royal Enfield will eventually offer this on all their current as well as upcoming new motorcycles.

      2022 Royal Enfield 650cc Motorcycles Shotgun, Super Meteor – Leaks

      2022 Royal Enfield 650cc Cruiser – Super Meteor 650 / Shotgun 650Royal Enfield is getting ready to launch two new motorcycles in the 650cc segment – Super Meteor cruiser and Shotgun
      As part of its ongoing product offensive, Royal Enfield is readying a number of new motorcycles in 350cc-650cc category. One of these is a true-blue 650cc cruiser that is expected to be launched sometime next year. It is likely to be christened as Super Meteor 650. The other is a Classic styled 650cc motorcycle, which was showcased as a concept called SG650 at 2021 EICMA recently. Upon launch it could be called Shotgun 650.
      In addition to these two 650cc motorcycles, Royal Enfield also has a new Himalayan Scram 411 variant as well as a Hunter 350 in the making. The Scram 411 was recently spied in Goa, while the Hunter 350 was leaked via official RE video about Project 90 South.
      2022 Royal Enfield 650cc Motorcycles Leak
      Speaking about the 650cc motorcycles, the two new machines are expected to be priced at around Rs 3.5 lakh. In comparison, Royal Enfield 650 twins are available in the price range of Rs 2.70 lakh to Rs 3.20 lakh.
      The two 650cc machines have also leaked in similar fashion like the Hunter. Both Super Meteor 650 and Shotgun 650 can be seen in the latest video of Royal Enfield 90 South project. In the video below at about 34 seconds mark, you can see the two upcoming Royal Enfield 650cc motorcycles.

      Royal Enfield Cruiser 650 styling
      Retro theme is clearly evident on test mules that have been frequently spotted in recent months. Some key features include round headlamp, rear-view mirrors, turn signals and tail light. It is likely that the bike will have an all-LED setup. Other key features include tall windscreen, dual exhaust pipes and broad rear fenders.
      Another distinguishable thing is the classy teardrop-shaped fuel tank. Instrument console profile could be similar to Meteor that has twin circular dials. There’s a larger unit on the left and a smaller display (Tripper navigation) on the right. Cruiser 650 can get things like USB charger and a new range of connectivity features.
      Users can expect optimal comfort when taking Cruiser 650 on long-distance journeys. The bike has wide pulled-back handlebar, low seat height, forward set footpegs and decent sized saddle. For pillion riders, there’s a backrest with integrated grab rails. Brackets for mounting panniers can be seen at the rear.

      2022 Royal Enfield 650cc engine and specs
      Both new Royal Enfield’s will be utilizing the 648cc motor that’s currently in use with Interceptor and Continental GT. The parallel-twin, oil cooled unit churns out 47 hp of max power and 52 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
      Talking about hardware, 2022 RE 650 will be equipped with USD forks at front. It will be the first Royal Enfield bike to get this premium feature. USD forks are necessary as the bike will be easily touching 100+ kmph on highways. USD forks will ensure enhanced stability and control while negotiating sharp curves and braking at high speed. At the rear, the bike will have dual suspension setup.
      Based on the variant, Super Meteor 650 could be available with either spoke wheels or alloy wheels. The former will be preferred by retro enthusiasts. The bike could get 18-inch wheels, shod with tubeless tyres. Rear tyre will be a wider unit, as compared to the front. Braking power comes from disc brakes at both ends.       Simple One Electric Scooter Spied On Public Road For 1st Time

      Simple One Electric Scooter SpiedPrices of the upcoming electric scooter from Simple Energy have already been revealed at Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom)
      Among the biggest reveals in the electric scooter space this year, was the Simple Energy called One. It was revealed on the same day as Ola Electric’s S1 and S1 Pro. While deliveries of S1 and S1 Pro have faced numerous delays, it is all set to start delivery from tomorrow. On the other hand, Simple One is yet to undergo production itself.
      The battery-powered scooter from the Bengaluru-based startup will soon head towards production. Test mules of the e-scooter were recently spied on public road for the first time. It is likely that the Simple One electric scooter is in final phases of testing. The prototypes are being tested for performance, durability, and range to ensure that it is production-ready.
      Simple One – Changes Expected
      Reports indicate that there might be some changes in the final production model from the one revealed in August earlier this year. The latest spy shots reveal test mules under colourful camouflage which is said to cover up the small design updates on the One although they aren’t noticeable.
      In order to ensure that the scooter meets a wide range of challenges, it is being tested across various parts of the country and on different terrains so that comprehensive data could be collected for extensive research and development. This isn’t the usual norm for a scooter that has already been unveiled in its production-spec model with a price tag attached to it.
      Simple One Electric Scooter Spied
      Further, it is expected that the e-scooter which hits showrooms will be better in terms of performance than the model presented before the media a few months ago. This also suggests that Simple Energy could also make changes to its powertrain setup too.
      Powertrain Specs
      Speaking of its powertrain, Simple One features a 4.5 kW electric motor that draws energy from a 4.8 kWh Lithium-ion battery pack. This setup can return a maximum range of 203 km in Eco mode under ideal driving conditions on a single charge. It also claims a strong performance with a 0-40 kmph acceleration time claimed at just 2.95 seconds. It can achieve a maximum top speed of 105 kmph.
      The battery pack consists of a fixed battery and a removable battery, the latter weighing around 7 kg which offers a range of 60 km on a full charge. It takes 2.75 hours for the fixed battery to rejuvenate up to 80 percent whereas the removable unit takes only 75 minutes to achieve the same level of electric charge. The company is even said to offer fast charging facilities across all major towns and cities.
      Simple One Electric Scooter Spied
      Priced at Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru), deliveries of Simple One are expected to commence in the early phase of 2022. However, it will be interesting to see if the EV manufacturer will be able to honour its commitments on time. Booking for the e-scooter is open at a token amount of Rs 1,947.

      Following on its aggressive product strategy, Royal Enfield has been continuously testing multiple products in recent times. These include new bikes in both 350cc and 650cc segment. A new motorcycle based on Himalayan has also been spotted. This appears to be a road-biased version of the popular off-roader.
      Ahead of its launch, which is expected sometime next month, the new 2022 Royal Enfield Himalayan Scram 411 motorcycle has been spied in Goa in production ready guise.       New Himalayan variant – Royal Enfield Scram 411
      While a Himalayan on the streets commands attention, this new variant has a relatively inconspicuous profile. This could also be described as a no-frills version of the Himalayan. The basic idea appears focused on stripping Himalayan of most of its specialized off-road equipment and features.
      At the front, new Himalayan variant gets a smaller wheel. It is likely to be a 19-inch unit, as compared to 21-inch of the current model. Other parts missing include fork gaiters, raised front fender and visor. It is possible that some of this equipment, especially visor, may be offered as an accessory. In other changes, the headlamp mask appears to have been redesigned.
      2022 Royal Enfield Himalayan Scram 411
      It is likely that the instrument panel will be an updated unit with option for Tripper navigation system. 2021 Himalayan had received the Tripper system earlier this year in February. Tripper system was first introduced with Meteor 350 and is now also available with new-gen Classic 350. Most other new / next-gen Royal Enfield motorcycles are expected to get Tripper navigation.
      At the sides, this new Himalayan variant missed out on front racks. It is a key component on-board Himalayan, both in terms of visual appeal as well as functional use. Instead of the rack, the bike gets small tank shrouds. These have a blacked-out look on the test mule. In production-spec version, the tank shrouds could sport some graphics. Other components on the side such as upswept exhaust, body panels, and split seats are the same as that of Himalayan.
      At the rear, the rack for luggage and panniers has been removed. Instead, the bike gets a standard pillion grab rail. While design and positioning of tail lamp is same, turn indicators have been moved further down. On Himalayan, the turn indicators are placed below the rear rack.
      To ensure a distinct identity, some new colour options can be introduced for road-biased Himalayan variant. Himalayan is currently offered in colour options of Mirage Silver, Granite Black, Pine Green, Rock Red, Lake Blue and Gravel Grey.
      Performance updates
      As per DownShift Goa, the production spec 2022 Royal Enfield Himalayan Scram 411 was powered by a liquid cooled motor. Current Himalayan is powered by a 411cc, SOHC, air cooled engine as the current model. It is capable of generating 24.3 bhp of max power at 6,500 rpm and 32 Nm of peak torque at 4000-4500 rpm. It is mated to a 5-speed constant mesh transmission.
      Himalayan is equipped with 41mm telescopic front forks and monoshock rear suspension with linkage. Braking system comprises 300 mm disc at front and 240 mm disc at rear. It is integrated with dual-channel ABS. More

      A few days ago, KTM unveiled the updated Adventure range of motorcycles which included 1290 Super Adventure S, 1290 Super Adventure R, 390 Adventure and 250 Adventure. The latter two hold more significance for the Indian market as they are locally manufactured in the country for domestic sales and export purposes.
      Two test mules of the updated 390 Adventure were recently spotted testing in India under heavy camouflage. These have now been spied again, while performing off-road testing. Hat tip to automotive enthusiast Karan Vazirani for sharing these new spy shots.
      Initial looks suggest these prototypes are more off-road friendly variants of the ADV bike. The new KTM 390 ADV spy shots reveal some significant visual updates on the prototypes over the regular models.
      2022 KTM 390 Adventure Turtletech – Update 12th Dec 2021
      After the spy shots went viral in the motorcycle community, the folks behind the test mules have revealed new details. As per the latest updates, the test mules are not from KTM, but from aftermarket company called Turtletech.

      As per the update shared, “KTM ADV RALLY TOWER by @turtletechx. Last week has seen quite a lot of speculation with our test proto spy pics. We thought it’s about time we set the records straight.We are Turtle Tech and we are coming soon.
      A first of it’s kind Rally Tower for the KTM Adventure developed in collaboration with @motourenn @monkeyautocrafts and tested by @asadracing from @motorsportmagnum . We are currently under beta testing for our 4th prototype. Preorders will start soon so make sure you follow the @turtletechx page and watch this space.
      2022 KTM 390 Adventure Rally – Design Updates
      For starters, the most noticeable change is witnessed at its face. The fascia is reminiscent of the bikes participating in Dakar Rally thanks to a huge transparent windscreen that looks utilitarian. The windscreen is mounted on the front forks and extends above the oddly-shaped headlamp bezel. Another visible variation in these mules is a different exhaust which resembles the one used in Husqvarna Svartpilen 250.

      A major gripe of 390 Adventure owners is its on-road friendly mannerisms which KTM is trying to address with this variant. A wider and taller handlebar has been employed which should offer better ergonomics while off-roading especially while standing to tackle rough terrains. While the bike rides on standard alloy wheels they are wrapped around by rugged block pattern tyres for improved off-roading credentials.
      Interestingly, neither of the prototypes didn’t feature any bash plate to protect the engine underbelly but we expect the company to offer it in the production-spec model. Thanks to the revised front face, the TFT display has also been positioned much higher than normal. Apart from these, every other detail has been carried forward from the current 390 Adventure.

      Same Mechanical Setup
      Everything including the exposed trellis frame, side panels, split-style seating, suspension setup and braking hardware seems to be lifted off from the current 390 Adventure. Even the engine casing looks very familiar which means the same 373cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled will be plonked to the frame.
      In regular variants, this engine pumps out 43 bhp and 37 Nm of peak torque while being paired with a six-speed gearbox via a slipper and assist clutch. However, we expect the Austrian bikemaker to make some tweaks to this powertrain so that it offers a better lower-end grunt. This will further accentuate its off-roading credentials. The motorcycle will also boast certain creature comforts like a quick-shifter, cornering ABS and traction control.
      The aforementioned updates are expected to come with a significant premium over the standard model which is currently priced at Rs 3.28 lakh (ex-showroom). Going by the spy images, it appears as though the bike is still in its pre-production phase and there is still time for launch. More

      Royal Enfield has many interesting projects up its sleeves, some of which will launch sometime next year. Two of those are Hunter 350 and Super Meteor 650. Test mules of both upcoming motorcycles have been frequently spotted on country roads in recent months.
      Speaking about the Hunter 350, it has now been leaked via an official video posted by Royal Enfield on their youtube. The video talks about the Himalayan, which is getting ready prepared for a journey to South Pole. RE has been testing the Himalayan extensively in Iceland for 2 years, and now the bike is ready for the 90 South expedition.
      In the video, where RE experts are talking about the modifications done, challenges faced by them in developing this special Himalayan, they are showing their workshop too. It is in this workshop, that you get a glance of the upcoming Hunter 350.
      Hunter is not the official name of this motorcycle. It is one of the many names that have been trademarked by Royal Enfield for their future motorcycles. It is believed that this one will be called. The rear half of the motorcycle is visible, also giving us an idea how the saree guard will be.       Royal Enfield Hunter 350 Leaks In New RE Himalayan Video
      Hunter 350- Design
      Royal Enfield Hunter will be a modern classic roadster based on the new J-series platform with a twin downtube frame underpinning Meteor 350 and the new-gen Classic 350. Spyshots suggest that RE Hunter will offer a commuter-like riding posture with a wide straight line handlebar and centre-set footpegs which result in a comfortable riding posture.
      The roadster will likely be powered by a 349cc single-cylinder air-cooled OHC engine that pushes out 20.2 bhp and 27 Nm of peak torque. It will be offered with a 5-speed gearbox. Suspension duties could be handled by 35 mm telescopic forks at front and twin gas-charged shocks at rear.
      Braking duties will be carried out by single disc brakes on both wheels assisted by a dual-channel ABS. Take a look at the official RE video of Himalayan, which gave us our first official glimpse of the Hunter 350. The Hunter appears in the frame at about 1 minute 27 seconds mark.

      Another video has surfaced on Youtube which shows both Hunter and Super Meteor being spotted testing their limits at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore. Incidentally, it is the same venue where the first edition of the Continental GT Cup is being held. The first three rounds of this race are part of the JK Tyre National Racing Championship.
      Super Meteor- Design
      Many such prototypes of upcoming models were seen gliding through the race track. Super Meteor would be offered as the brand’s new flagship motorcycle, positioned above the current 650cc Twins- Interceptor and Continental GT. Launch of both Hunder and Super Meteor is expected in 2022. More
