Tata Safari Spied With Green No Plates – First Safari Electric SUV?

Tata Motors is the leading electric vehicle maker in India – They have plans to launch many new electric SUVs in the futureTata Safari Electric SpiedTata Safari Electric! Already? Hold your horses. We know Tata Safari Electric is exciting news and it looks like a good proposition too. But not a lot is known about this mysterious vehicle that has been spotted somewhere in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. It does look like a finished product, as good as any other Tata Safari bought from an authorized dealer. But we think that it isn’t the case at all. After a bit of searching the number plate across multiple vehicle databases, it was revealed that it still showed as XZA+ variant with 2.0L Kryotec BS6 engine. But the number plate is green, which indicates that it is an EV. So why is a Tata Safari that is registered as a diesel on the RTO database, wearing a green no plate? Here are some explanations for this confusing spy shot of Tata Safari Electric.Tata Safari Electric SpiedAs we all know, Tata Safari only gets a 2.0L Kryotec diesel engine sourced from Stellantis (formerly, Fiat-Chrysler) that makes 168 bhp and 350 Nm. Tata Motors has been testing the Safari with a petrol engine too and on the test mule, you will see a red number plate. It’s because in India, every single test mule, EV or not, is given a red number plate.  Only the finalised product that is sold for private use, get the usual number plates from RTO. White board with black font indicates a PV (passenger vehicle), yellow board with black font indicates LCV (light commercial vehicle) and HCV (heavy commercial vehicle). Whereas a black board with yellow font indicates self-driven rental vehicles. EVs get two different types of number plates where the board is green for both and if the vehicle has a white font, it is an electric PV and if the font is yellow, it is an electric CV.  Tata Safari EV Spied with green no plateThe Tata Safari electric spotted has a green board with white font indicating that it is an electric PV. But Tata never launched it. If you suspect that it is a prank of some sort or the owner is committing fraud, that does not seem to be the case as the number plate is a properly embossed number plate with non-removable bolts with RTO’s hologram too. It doesn’t look like a fake number plate at all.  Tata Safari EV – What is it?The car looks like it actually is an EV as registered by the RTO. But it is not a test mule undergoing testing by Tata as it doesn’t have a red number plate. This might be the work of a third-party that has developed an EV conversion kit for Safari. We don’t know the name of the company as of now. But developing an EV conversion kit is no mean feat.Electronics and electricals are one of the most complicated aspects of vehicle development. The entire electric harness has to be custom-built with proper voltage architectures in mind. Then comes the hassle of battery placement, motor placement, mass centralisation, weight distribution, centre of gravity, interior packaging with the new battery in place, battery weather sealing, battery cooling solutions, battery management system tuning, modifications to brakes and suspension to accommodate the extra weight and a million more aspects. It is not an easy task of just taking out the engine and stuffing batteries in its place.Tata Safari Electric Spied – New Safari EVWe have seen EV conversion kits like this before too. Our bet is that Tata Safari Electric conversion kit is being developed by someone, with good resources to back them up. The car in question seems to be a piece of demonstration for investors, bankers or even Government officials. This company seems like they first bought a Tata Safari XZA+ and then converted it into an EV and then got it re-registered as an EV from RTO. If that is the case, Tata Safari Electric range could be somewhere in between 300-500 kms. Whatever it is, it looks promising. If you happen to have more details, please get in touch. More

Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Scram And ADV – Spied Together

One can expect the new Himalayan 450 to be an improved product in almost every respectRoyal Enfield Himalayan 450 Scram and ADVRoyal Enfield is right in the middle of modernizing its entire product portfolio. After getting the Meteor up and running, the retro-classic specialist has turned its attention to renovating the Himalayan adventure tourer. RE is also busy developing a new variant of its 350 cc family in the form of Hunter 350.New Royal Enfield Himalayan 450Pre-series prototypes of next gen Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 have made a habit of getting photographed while they are on a mission to accumulate crucial test miles. This time, the new adventure tourer was captured along with what appears to be its scrambler sibling (we will talk about it later). Spy shots are credited to automotive enthusiast Karunakaran. As the development process progresses, the prototypes are inching closer to production version, and we like what we see. New RE Himalayan 450 appears to be enjoying a significantly improved level of perceived quality. Hardware enhancements come in the form of a new frame which is expected to be sturdier (better off-road performance), new inverted front forks and an all-new 450 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor.Nothing much is known about the engine as of now but we bet it will have much better output figures than the outgoing 411 cc air and oil-cooled unit which develops a rather modest 24 hp and 32 Nm of torque. It is also being said that the new engine will offer ride-by-wire technology which will enable ride modes. The RE loyalists would definitely love the boost in highway performance the new heart promises to bring on board.Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 ADVOther noteworthy changes include a larger fuel tank which will translate into improved range, wider and more comfortable 2-piece seats, a digital instrument cluster which is likely to incorporate smartphone connectivity of turn-by-turn navigation and an array of provisions for touring accessories. The motorcycle appears to have retained its predecessors 21-inch front and 17-inch rear spoke wheels shod with dual-purpose tyres.Royal Enfield Scram 450 in the making?Interestingly, the Himalayan 450 was accompanied by another test mule. In the earlier post, we mentioned this motorcycle as Hunter 350. But that is not correct. Hat tip to our readers for the help. This new test mule is believed to be a scrambler version of the new Himalayan 450 ADV. Upon launch next year, the H450 twins are likely to have a similar setup on offer by RE, like the current Himalayan 411 and Scram 411.New Royal Enfield Scram 450 seems to be equipped with suspension setup (front gets conventional forks, against USD on ADV version), frame and engine identical to those of the former. The circular headlamp, simple instrument dial, flat handlebar and heavily contoured single-piece seat makes it a textbook scrambler. This variant adopts 17-inch alloy wheels with dual purpose tyres and a conventional telescopic front forks instead of the adventure tourer’s upside-down setup. The scrambler variant also features a different fuel tank.Royal Enfield Scram 450 HimalayanGiven that developing a new liquid-cooled engine ground up comes with a huge investment, it makes sense to maximize the return by employing it in more than just one product. We won’t be surprised if RE’s new mid-size motor finds itself on-board more products in addition to the new Himalayan and its Scrambler derivative. We expect RE to debut the new Himalayan 450 sometime later this year, probably at EICMA 2022 in Milan in November. The Scram 450 is also expected to debut at the same event, if not, it will follow in a few months’ time. With vast improvements and state-of-the-art technologies, the Indian adventure tourer will be a much more appealing prospect than its predecessor not only in the domestic market but also in the international markets. 2023 Bajaj Pulsar N160 Spied Testing For The First Time

Bajaj is taking a top-down approach for the new range of Pulsar models, the next model in this lineup is expected to be a 180-200cc bike2023 Bajaj Pulsar N160Bajaj Pulsar is an aspirational brand of sporty commuter motorcycles. Strong performance backed by affordability is one of its key universal selling points. These are more than a few reasons why this motorcycle range continues to be a rage even after two decades in the market.Currently, Bajaj is in a rebuilding phase and is trying to reinvent the Pulsar series by introducing some new models under its belt. The first in this revamped lineup is Pulsar 250 twins- N250 and F250 that was launched late last year. The company confirmed that it will be launching more new models under the Pulsar moniker in the coming future.New Bajaj Pulsar Spotted- Is it Pulsar N160?Recently, a new test mule of a Pulsar motorcycle was spotted outside Pune which was speculated to be the new-gen Bajaj Pulsar 125. The prototype was under heavy camouflage and did not divulge any specific details of the upcoming bike. Now, another Bajaj Pulsar has been spied testing without any camouflage this time around.Reports indicate that it could be a Pulsar with a smaller engine displacement, most probably a new Pulsar 160. The test mule that had been spotted in Pune, looked very similar to the new Pulsar N250. Hence, the new 160cc naked streetfighter will be based on the all-new Pulsar N250 platform and could replace the current Pulsar NS160 in future.2023 Bajaj Pulsar N1602023 Bajaj Pulsar N160Headlight cowl of the test mule is a fitting image of the naked quarter-litre Pulsar. It features projector LED headlight flanked by twin eyebrows-shaped LED DRLs just like Pulsar N250. While indicators on this new prototype are bulb units, split tail lamps consist of LED internals. It receives a contoured split-seat setup with a raised tail section and split grab rails.Like N250, this new testing prototype receives a single-piece handlebar which should ensure comfortable and upright ergonomics. The motorcycle is built on the same chassis as the 250cc Pulsars, so it gets the same frame, telescopic front fork, and a rear mono-shock. Even body panels appear to be borrowed from the new generation quarter-litre Pulsars.Expected SpecsIn all probability, Bajaj will be employing a brand new engine with a construction similar to that of N250 and F250. The current NS160 is powered by a 160cc single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine that pumps out 17.03 bhp and 14.6 Nm of peak torque. The new engine will be richer in torque and even comes with a kick-starter which is a rare feature these days.2023 Bajaj Pulsar N160It appears to ride on 17-inch alloy wheels that are shod with MRF rubber with a slightly thicker profile at rear. Braking duties are carried out by disc brakes at both ends that will be complemented by single-channel ABS. Although no specific launch timeline has been confirmed yet, the next model under the new range of Pulsar could hit markets by end of this year or in early 2023.Source More

2023 Bajaj Pulsar 125cc Spied For First Time – New Platform

With the new generation of Pulsar, Bajaj Auto has taken a top-down approach with the flagship Pulsar 250 launching first followed by other smaller Pulsars2023 Bajaj Pulsar 125ccBajaj Auto took its first steps towards bringing a new revolution in its lineup when it introduced the flagship models of the new generation Pulsar models. Launched in Oct last year, the new Pulsar 250 twins- N250 and F250, are the first of the many new-gen Pulsars expected to be seen in the market in the coming few months.During the launch of Pulsar 250 last year, Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director, Bajaj Auto, had confirmed that the company will be introducing smaller displacement models of Pulsar based on this new generation platform. Test mules of smaller displacement new-gen Pulsars have been reportedly caught in cameras for the first time.Clicked somewhere on the outskirts of Pune, the lone spy image reveals the interesting new details about the upcoming 2023 Bajaj Pulsar 125. The test mule flaunts a street naked design, just like Pulsar N250 and hence there are many styling resemblances with the latter.2023 Bajaj Pulsar 125cc – Styling DetailsIt gets a similar styled muscular fuel tank, but smaller in size. Headlamp design also matches that of its quarter-litre siblings. The headlamp cluster also features similar integrated Wolf-eyed LED position lamps. Other common design elements could include a sharp tail section and single-piece seating.Bajaj is also working on new gen Pulsar 150, Pulsar 200. Image – YoutubeSpeaking about specs, the current Pulsar 125, it is likely to get an air-cooled 4 strong single cylinder engine. Power and torque output could be in a similar range as the current Pulsar 125 – 11.8 PS and 10.8 Nm. The engine is likely to be updated, to deliver better response and higher fuel efficiency. Bajaj has also registered two new names – Pulsar Elan and Pulsar Eleganz.New Gen Pulsar 150, Pulsar 2002023 Pulsar 150 will be powered by an updated version of the same 149.5cc single-cylinder, fuel-injected motor powering the current model. In its current avatar, this motor pushes out 13.8 bhp and 13.4 Nm of peak torque and comes paired with a 5-speed gearbox.Specifications of Pulsar 200 are more ambiguous since the current Pulsar NS200 and RS200 are powered by a 199.5cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine derived from KTM. In its current form, this motor kicks out 24 bhp and a peak torque of 18.5 Nm and is linked with a 6-speed gearbox. Will Bajaj go with this powertrain or develop a simpler oil-cooled mill as it did with Pulsar 250 twins is a critical point of discussion. As far as hardware is concerned, Pulsar 200 appears to receive the same configuration as its quarter-litre sibling with 37mm front forks and a mono-shock at rear. Pulsar 150, on the other hand, gets slimmer 33mm forks at front and probably the same mono-shock at rear. More specifications are expected to come to light in the next few months.New-gen Pulsar 250Apart from the styling and riding ergonomics, Pulsar N250 and Pulsar F250 are identical to each other in every manner. Both are powered by a brand new 249cc single-cylinder, air/oil-cooled engine which pumps out 24.1 bhp and a peak torque of 21.5 Nm. This motor is paired with a 5-speed gearbox via a slipper and assist clutch.Source More
