Gensol EV Spotted Testing For The First Time – 3W EV Will Pack ADAS, Auto Park

Gensol EV spotted testingConsidering Gensol EV spotted testing has three wheels, it might be sold as a motor tricycle and may require just a motorcycle licensePrimarily known for its solar business, Gensol Group is now foraying into electric car business. The company aims to provide urban mobility solutions to reduce city congestion. Last month, the company teased Gensol EV online and the car is now spotted in testing — hat tip to automotive enthusiast K Pratham who spotted this test mule in Chakan, Pune.Gensol EV Spotted Testing For The First TimeThe electric car startup, Gensol Electric Vehicles PVT LTD, has set up a base in India’s biggest auto cluster, Pune. The HQ seems to be in Mundhwa, Pune and the manufacturing facility is in Chakan, boasting production capacity of 30,000 units per year. The test mule is running temporary registration provided by Chinchwad RTO and the plates read ‘on test’.Gensol aims at affordable EV category that has very few action. We’re talking about a segment that will sit below MG Comet EV in terms of pricing and above PMV. Refreshing your memory, PMV has launched a mini electric car in India for Rs. 4.79 lakh (ex-sh). It is a four-door, two-seater (back-to-back) electric car with interior parts from Honda cars.Other players are toying with launch plans in this segment too. We’re talking about Ligier Mygi, a French contender, running for this segment whose test mules have been spotted in India too. Renault is planning Kwid EV that will end up in this segment as well. So, this is a potent segment for Gensol to target.Gensol EV 3-Door TeasedBut there is one oddity with the Gensol EV which is absent in the expected rivals we just mentioned. Which is, Gensol EV is a 3W vehicle, something that even PMV is not. The 3W architecture has two wheels at front and one at the back. So, it doesn’t look like a rickshaw or a Reliant Robin (Jeremy Clarkson would approve). How the seating arrangement could be?Considering Gensold EV spotted testing is aimed at affordable urban electric mobility, we might see a small battery pack capable of 200 km claimed and 150 km of real-world range and a single motor FWD layout, driving both front wheels. Top speed is claimed to 80 km/h. Gensol EV may provide seating for four adults (three in comfort) and a decently sized boot space.Doors are limited to just two and then a tailgate. Gensol is going for a tallboy design, which might be concerning to prospective buyers. High centre of gravity and three wheels are like oil and water. Gensol is developing ADAS tech and auto parking features too, that will be offered with their maiden EV. On the inside, there are two electric windows, manual AC, Android-based touchscreen infotainment (likely aftermarket), a single-pane sunroof and more.Gensol EV DashboardThis particular test mule had basic halogen reflector-style tail lights. Looking at rear section, Gensol might be using axle braking instead of wheel braking for rear single wheel. There might be RWD setup too looking at all the camouflaged components around rear wheel. Launch might happen around 2025 and the price might be below MG Comet’s. The main question remains, though – Can we drive it with a motorcycle license? More

The spy shots taken near Hero MotoCorp tech centre, Jaipur, credited to automotive enthusiast XX, show a Harley-Davidson X440 test mule donning a rear pillion backrest. At first glance, this motorcycle looks like a mini bike owing to the large frame of test rider. But it is the X440 and there is no mini bike from Harley-Davidson.Harley-Davidson X440 test muleOther accessories that are expected to arrive, as per Harley-Davidson dealers (unofficial) is bar-end mirrors. Based on customer demand, there will be further additions to its accessories list for X440 to unlock more potential. Is this a new motorcycle based on Karizma XMR 210?Harley-Davidson has been compartmentalizing in key global markets and is spawning low-cost budget motorcycles to reach a wider range of audience. The partnership with Hero MotoCorp might turn fruitful for Harley-Davidson and the next motorcycle may have an even smaller capacity than current X440.This could be based on the recently launched Karizma’s 210cc platform. This very platform is spawning a version of Xpulse and Xtreme as well. There is a possibility that the recently spotted test mule will be based on 210cc engine as well. More

Aprilia RS 457 Naked Version Spotted – Duke 390, MT03 Rival

Aprilia RS 457 Naked Version SpottedSpotted with multiple improvised equipment, Aprilia’s new naked bike is still several months away from reaching production stageAprilia recently launched the RS 457 at India Bike Week at a starting price of Rs 4.10 lakh. Even though many international markets are yet to get the RS 457, a new naked Aprilia bike has been spotted overseas on road tests. From the images, it appears to be the naked version of the RS 457.Aprilia 457 naked bike detailsFrom the round headlamp, it is clear that the naked Aprilia 457 will have a neo-retro profile. But much of the skin is missing, making it difficult to carry out a detailed analysis. Equipment such as the front USD forks appear to be borrowed from RS 457.Aprilia RS 457 Naked Version SpottedHowever, the naked model has the USD forks in golden finish in comparison to black coloured units used with RS 457. The cast aluminium alloy wheels and the 110/70-17 front & 150/60-17 rear tyres are the same as RS 457.Same is true for the braking setup that has 320 mm and 220 mm discs at front and rear. Then, there’s the 457cc, in-line two-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. It generates 47.6 hp of max power and 43.5 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and comes with ride-by-wire tech.Aprilia RS 457 Naked Version SpottedDifferent chassis and swingarmTalking about some of the unique aspects of RS 457’s naked sibling, the bike uses a steel frame. In comparison, the RS 457 has a dual beam aluminium frame. The relatively simple tubular steel frame will be adequate for the naked version. It remains to be seen if the bike’s weight is increased with the use of a steel frame. But the naked version won’t have the fairing, which will help reduce weight. For reference, RS 457 has a wet weight of 175 kg.Aprilia RS 457 Naked Version SpottedAt the rear, the naked bike has a different swingarm in comparison to RS 457. The change has been necessitated, as the rear suspension is mounted on the right side. It is not centrally placed, as is the case with RS 457. Essentially, utilizing a decentralized spring strut instead of the conventional central spring strut. The naked version of Aprilia RS 457 will have a comfortable riding stance. The test mule reveals that the optimal positioning of the foot pegs is currently being evaluated. It is evident from the perforated plates being used for mounting the foot pegs. This allows easy adjustment of the foot pegs, as needed. There is various other makeshift / WIP equipment being used such as the fuel tank and exhaust. The front section is also WIP, evident with the exposed wires, nuts & bolts and mounting brackets.Aprilia RS 457 Naked Version SpottedAprilia naked 457 launch and pricingIn its current format, the naked Aprilia 457 will take several months to reach near-production level. In 2024, Aprilia is likely to focus exclusively on the RS 457. In that case, the naked version will only be launched in 2025. Pricing will be approximately the same as that of RS 457.Source More

Royal Enfield Goan 350 Name Trademarked – Classic 350 Based Bobber?

Royal Enfield Goan 350 – Likely to be name of Classic 350 BobberRoyal Enfield Goan Classic 350 will focus on a more comfortable riding stance, best suited for long distance journeysRoyal Enfield has a strong grasp of the 350cc segment with bestsellers like Classic 350, Bullet 350, Hunter 350 and Super Meteor 350. Such a wide range of options are unbeatable by any other brand. Coming soon is the Goan Classic 350 that will further strengthen Royal Enfield’s entry-level portfolio. Goan Classic 350 name is likely to be used for the bobber-style motorcycle that has been spotted on road tests multiple times in recent months. How is Goan Classic 350 different from Classic 350?As the name suggests, Goan Classic 350 will be similar to Classic 350. But the bobber version will have some unique features, one of which will be taller handlebars. This is a signature feature of bobber motorcycles. A taller handlebar is usually associated with greater comfort across long distance rides.Royal Enfield Goan 350 – Likely to be name of Classic 350 BobberHowever, the experience may vary depending on the user’s height and other physical traits. A taller handlebar also offers other benefits such as improved back posture, better control and handling across steeper terrain and greater stability.Goan Classic 350 could also see changes in the seat design and seat height. A test mule spotted recently was seen with a rear pillion seat. This could be made available via a separate variant or as an accessory. The bobber 350 could also have slightly forward set footpegs. Test mule sightings also reveal that Goan Classic 350 will have a different exhaust tip. As a result, it is likely that the exhaust note will also be distinct.Royal Enfield Bobber 350One can also see some cosmetic touch-ups exclusively for the bobber version. For example, one of the test mules was spotted with teal-coloured tyre walls, similar to white-walled tyres. This again is a signature feature associated with vintage motorcycles popular in the 60s. Overall, Goan Classic 350 carries a higher ratio of retro flavour in comparison to other 350cc Royal Enfield bikes.Goan Classic 350 specs, performanceMost of the hardware for the bobber version will be the same as Classic 350. Typical bobber motorcycles have a longer wheelbase. But that’s not the case with the Goan Classic 350. Royal Enfield has favoured a mild bobber look and feel, instead of going for a full-fledged makeover. The latter could have necessitated major tweaks to the platform, which in turn will increase development and production cost. Goan Classic 350 will have the same 1,390 mm of wheelbase as Classic 350.Suspension and braking setup will also be common. Classic 350 has 41 mm telescopic front forks with 130 mm of travel. At rear, the bike has twin-tube emulsion shock absorbers with 6-step adjustable preload. Braking duties are performed by 300 mm disc and 270 mm disc, at front and rear, respectively. Dual-channel ABS is standard. Powering the Goan Classic 350 will be the 349cc air-oil cooled, single cylinder engine. It churns out 20.2 bhp of max power and 27 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox. More

Hyundai Ioniq 7 Spotted Testing – Kia EV9 Counterpart, Ditches Suicide Doors

Hyundai Ioniq 7 spotted testingKia EV9’s counterpart is Hyundai Ioniq 7 and has been spied testing for the first time – It is Hyundai SEVEN Concepts’ production versionKia and Hyundai are currently on the verge of carving out quite a chunk in global EV segment. Combined, the South Korean sister brands have developed E-GMP platform that the recently spotted Hyundai Ioniq 7 test mules will be based on. Hyundai Ioniq 7 spotted, is likely to sport similar powertrain as recently launched Kia EV9 flagship.Hyundai Ioniq 7 Spotted TestingRecent test mules of Hyundai Ioniq 7 were captured testing in Germany. Ioniq 7 is Hyundai’s counterpart of Kia EV9 flagship electric SUV and is the production version of Hyundai SEVEN electric SUV concept showcased a couple of years ago.Production-spec Ioniq 7 deviates a lot from what Hyundai showed with Concept. We’re not stressing about the lack of suicide doors (rear hinged doors) for 2nd row. Sure, that is a noticeable miss from Hyundai SEVEN concept. But we’re slightly surprised with the overall design that Hyundai is going for.As seen with SEVEN concept, Hyundai was promising a boxy SUV with a lot of presence. With production-spec Ioniq 7, Hyundai is giving out MPV vibes that seem to be in line with Hyundai Ioniq 6 sedan (saloon). Reminds us of Hyundai’s MPVs like Stargazer and Staria. Bonnet is short and A-pillar is quite raked. There’s a sense of swooping effect to this design.Hyundai Ioniq 7 fasciaNot just MPV vibes, overall design is swoopy and curvaceous, something that SEVEN concept didn’t have. Even Kia EV9 has a butch SUV stance and proportions. The test mule spotted in Germany had two different sets of alloy wheels on testing. Both these wheels are likely to be on offer with Ioniq 7, depending on different variants.Front fascia has vertically-stacked headlights that will be studded with pixel-shaped LEDs. These Pixel LEDs will comprise its LED DRL too along with rear LED signature. Side body claddings are chunky and remind us of recently launched Hyundai Kona. Rear was fully camouflaged and not a lot can be deduced.Same powertrain as Kia EV9?On the inside, Hyundai Ioniq 7 is less likely to sport the same flamboyant interiors as SEVEN concept. There is a much greater probability of Ioniq 7 packing similar attributes from both Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6. Dual 12.3-inch screens on dashboard along with a few buttons here and there, are probable.Hyundai Ioniq 7 profileHyundai logo will be replaced with the four-dots that this company is going for with past vehicles. Level-three autonomous driving aids, recycled materials on the inside, third-row seating, Hyundai’s latest operating system that powers Kona EV are some of the key highlights. Ioniq 7 might be the last E-GMP equipped global electric vehicle with announcements of next-gen eM and eS platforms.Same set of powertrains as Kia EV9 is highly likely with Hyundai Ioniq 7 spotted testing in Germany. Up to 100 kWh battery, dual motor layout with total system output of 380 bhp from Kia EV9 is logical. Claimed range on EV9 is 350 miles (563 km), while the aerodynamic design of Ioniq 7 can eke out more range. India launch is iffy and company hasn’t officially confirmed it for the Asian subcontinent.Images – Autoexpress More

Bajaj New Commuter Bike Spotted – Could Be CT150X

New Bajaj commuter motorcycle spiedA 150cc commuter can make every day rides a lot more exciting and also do some heavy lifting across difficult terrainBajaj is known to pull up surprises. At a time when the focus is on the biggest Pulsar ever, an entirely new test mule has been spotted. Hat tip to Rushlane Spylane member for sharing this exclusive spy shot. It is possible that Bajaj could be working on a 150cc commuter bike. It could be launched as CT150X.Bajaj new commuter bike – What to expect? The usual set of commuter bikes are largely pooled in 100cc to 125cc segment. At 150cc and above, the majority of bikes are positioned as performance-oriented machines. In this space, Bajaj already has Pulsar 150 and Pulsar N150. These are among the bestselling Pulsar bikes in the country. With the new 150cc commuter bike, Bajaj can provide something more relevant for the specific target market.New Bajaj commuter motorcycle spiedSpotted with heavy camouflage, the test mule wants to keep things under wraps as far as possible. However, a closer inspection does provide some hints about how the final version will look like. Some of the features that are evident include round headlamp, standard commuter-style handlebar with brace, heavy-duty front forks, a single piece seat and a standard grab rail. The bike also has an engine crash guard, rear tyre hugger and saree guard with integrated footrest. Just like CT125X, the new 150cc commuter is likely to have fork gaiters. As evident, there are enough similarities to link the test mule to a 150cc commuter bike under CT brand. Bajaj may also be looking to boost the CT range that hasn’t been doing all that great in comparison to Pulsar and Platina range. CT bikes have significantly fewer numbers than Pulsar and Platina, across both domestic and international markets. A new 150cc CT bike can probably bring about positive changes.Bajaj CT150X performanceIt is possible that Bajaj CT150X could get a tweaked version of the existing 149.50 cc engine in use with Pulsar 150. Power and torque output could be adjusted in favour of fuel efficiency. On-board Pulsar 150, the engine delivers 14 PS of max power and 13.25 Nm of peak torque. In comparison, Pulsar N150 has slightly higher numbers at 14.5 PS and 13.5 Nm. Both models have a constant mesh 5-speed gearbox. The engine being used with the test mule can be seen with fins. It indicates that this is an air-cooled engine. The bike comes with new alloy wheels. It has disc brake at front, which appears to be similar to that of CT125X. Other highlights include rugged foot pegs and hand guards.A 150cc commuter bike seems to have potential, as there aren’t many players in this space. Bajaj CT150X could especially do well across smaller cities and rural markets. The usual set of 100cc to 125cc bikes are quite popular, but they can reach their limits when subjected to heavy work. With more power and torque, a 150cc commuter bike will be appropriate for the specific needs of such markets. More

Bajaj Pulsar P125 Spotted Testing Without Camouflage For The First Time

New Bajaj Pulsar P125 spottedThe upcoming Bajaj Pulsar P125 will sport the same design and componentry as the now discontinued Pulsar P150, with Pulsar 125’s powertrainLeading Indian 2W and 3W manufacturer, Bajaj Auto, is on the verge of expanding its 125cc Pulsar portfolio. Current 125cc Pulsar lineup includes OG Pulsar 125 and Pulsar NS125. The latest entrant to this highly competitive segment is Bajaj Pulsar P150. Launch must be nearing as the test mules donned zero camouflage.Bajaj Pulsar P125 spotted testing – Does it make sense? In a rather surprising move, Bajaj replaced Pulsar P150 with Pulsar N150. We say surprising because Bajaj is known to hold on to its motorcycle designs and Pulsar P range debuted in November 2022. For context, design of OG Pulsar is around 15 years old. But what happens to all the dyes, jigs and manufacturing equipment dedicated to making body parts for discontinued Pulsar P150?This is where the new Pulsar test mule comes into play. Bajaj seems to be shifting Pulsar P range from 150cc to 125cc class. Lacklustre sales registered by Pulsar P150 seem to be a primary reason for its discontinuation. 150cc Pulsar buyers sought some beef and brawn that P150 never could never bring to the table.Hence the introduction of Pulsar N150. Now Pulsar P range will re-spawn in 125cc category which makes a lot of sense for Bajaj. We say this because it is 125cc Pulsars, attracting highest footfall in showrooms and they seem to have highest conversion rates as well.Pulsar P125 – Same design as P150Sales charts reflect the same with 125cc Pulsar being Bajaj’s best-seller with 35% of the company’s total sales in September 2023. Launch is likely to happen soon and it will be positioned between OG Pulsar 125 and Pulsar NS125. Price of around Rs. 90,000 (ex-sh) would be logical too. What does the new Pulsar P125 pack?First set of spy shots reveals an overall similar silhouette to Pulsar P150. This test mule shows zero camouflage on it. We would wager that none of the body panels and components from Pulsar P range will be altered.Sleek and slender body, attractive LED headlight assembly with a large projector and a unibrow-type LED DRL signature, extended tank shrouds, clip-on handlebars, an engine cowl, single-piece seat, a conventional grab handle, a semi-digital instrument cluster, a USB port and twin-LED tail lights are some of the highlights. As per componentry, upcoming Bajaj Pulsar P125 will come equipped with RSU telescopic front forks, single disc setup at the front with single-channel ABS, rear drum brake, conventional box-section swingarm, similar 17-inch alloy wheels as P150 and the same 124cc single-cylinder engine.Speaking of engine, it will develop around 11 bhp of peak power and 11 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Fuel efficiency is likely to be around 50 km/l. Primary rivals are TVS Raider 125, Honda SP 125 and Hero’s Glamour XTEC and rumoured Xtreme 125, along with Bajaj’s own OG Pulsar 125 and Pulsar NS125.
