Our in-house design specialist Pratyush Rout went to the drawing board after carefully examining both the prototype which appeared to be featuring make-shift fuel tank as well as the KX Concept. The end result is this speculative rendering of the Royal Enfield 650 Cruiser.

As you can see, the upcoming product has all the bearings of a good-looking cruiser which could stand shoulder to shoulder with a premium offering such as the Harley Davidson Street 750.
With Harley Davidson withdrawing from India, the upcoming twin-cylinder cruiser will have an unchallenged run in its niche. The low-slung Royal Enfield Thumper complies with textbook cruiser styling.

The split seats, thick rear mud-guard and high-profile rear tyre render the motorcycle a premium appeal. From the looks of it, the new RE cruiser appears to be a comfortable mile muncher. We expect the manufacturer to come up with an array of touring accessories for its flagship product.
    Specifications
Developed primarily by Royal Enfield’s UK tech center, the 650 Cruiser is specc’ed to meet global medium displacement standards. The salient features include an upside down front telescopic forks, black finished alloy wheels, chrome twin exhaust canisters, twin rear shock absorbers, and front and rear disc brakes with dual-channel ABS. The production version is expected to be equipped with LED headlamps and digi-analog instrument console.

Power will come from the familiar 648 cc parallel-twin, air-cooled engine which dishes out 47 hp and 52 Nm of torque. Royal Enfield is expected to engineer the 6-speed transmission to offer good low end grunt and effortless highway cruising. The power output makes the motorcycle eligible for A2 license holders in Europe who form an important audience base for a product with global aspirations.
    Launch timeline
Royal Enfield is currently occupied in introducing the Meteor 350, the first product of its long-awaited series of next gen models based on the modular J platform. The company’s plans to introduce one new model every quarter of 2020 have been affected by the ongoing pandemic crisis, so we may not see the new Classic 350 before April 2021. The delays indicate that the Royal Enfield 650 Cruiser may not be ready before the second half of 2021. Expect the prices to undercut the Rs 4 lakh mark (on-road). More

Each biker wants a motorcycle which is different than others. This gives the owner a sense of identity and self expression making the bike truly their own in every respect. With no OEM offering modification service, bikers go to aftermarket specialists, which may or may not provide legal mods.

RE 650 Twins Awards and Price Hike
The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, launched in 2018 has shot to fame. It was recently crowned the Best Retro Bike of the Year 2020 by MCN, UK. It may be recalled that it was also the recipient of MCN’s Best Naked Motorcycle of the Year 2019 and several other awards.
In its BS6 avatar, the two flagship motorcycles which were launched in March 2020, received a price hike in September. Launch price of the Interceptor 650, which stood between Rs.2.65-2.86 lakhs has been revised to Rs.2.67-2.88 lakhs. The Continental GT 650, launched at Rs.2.81-3.02 lakhs now starts of at Rs.2.82 lakhs to go up to Rs.3.03 lakhs. Upcoming RE launches include new gen Thunderbird called Meteor 350, new gen Classic 350 and an all new 650cc Cruiser. More

  • Upcoming Royal Enfield 650cc Cruiser New Spy Shot – Launch 2021

Launch of the Upcoming Royal Enfield 650cc Cruiser is expected to take place in the second half of 2021

The Royal Enfield 650 Twin engine has given the retro classic brand a solid credibility in the medium displacement segment not only in India but also in international markets. Thanks to the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650, Royal Enfield is gaining more and more visibility on a global scale. So, it makes logical sense for the company to milk this engine as much as possible and come up with more body styles.
    Royal Enfield 650 Cruiser
Royal Enfield’s intention to come up with a medium displacement twin-cylinder premium cruiser was first revealed by the KX Concept which debuted at EICMA in Milan, Italy, last year.
The company did not announce any solid plans to come up with a production version, but the twin-cylinder cruiser is well on its way to the market, as evident form the recently spotted near-production prototype.

The same has now been spotted again. While Royal Enfield hinted that a possible production version of the KX would get a 834 cc engine, we have reasons to believe that the final production version is likely to carry forward the existing 650 Twin without much changes. For starters, the prototype sports a single front disc which is atypical of a product with higher displacement.
    Royal Enfield 650 Twin
On board the Interceptor and Continental GT, the 648 cc parallel-twin engine develops 47 hp and 52 Nm of torque. We expect the cruiser to have identical power outputs but the 6-speed gearbox is likely to feature tweaked ratios to promote better bottom end torque for the typical cruiser riding experience.
    Suspension and brakes
The Royal Enfield 650 Cruiser features upside-down front telescopic forks and regular twin-rear shock absorbers. Just like its siblings, the upcoming model employs twin silencers. Braking system consists of a disc brake at either end. The alloy wheels come shod with generously proportioned tyres.
    Launch
The Royal Enfield 650 cruiser is expected to undertake an extensive testing regime which means we are not likely to see the launch happening in 2020. The company’s immediate focus is to introduce its next generation range of 350 cc models based on the new platform.
The next motorcycles which will be launched by Royal Enfield, will be the Meteor 350 and Classic 350. Meteor 350 launch has been pushed back to post Diwali 2020 period while that of Classic 350 has been pushed back to post April 2021. Launch of the RE 650 cruiser will take place after that, most likely by Diwali 2021. Once launched, it is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 4 lakhs, on-road. More

  • New Royal Enfield Classic 350 Delayed To 2021 – 250cc Project Cancelled

The new Royal Enfield Classic 350 will be a very important volume for the brand’s endeavour to neutralize rising competition
    Image – Hriday

Royal Enfield was originally supposed to enter into the BS6 era with all guns blazing. On test since 2018, the new gen Classic 350 as well as the Meteor 350 were originally planned for launch by March 2020. Its Oct 2020, and none of these motorcycles have been launched yet.
Delays in product development and capacity expansion has forced the company to take interim measures and introduce updated versions of its older models. Then the pandemic dealt yet another serious blow that has pushed the launch timeline even further.
New Royal Enfield Classic 350 launch delayed
The Royal Enfield Meteor 350, the Thunderbird replacement, is not here in time to take full advantage of the festive season. ET reports that the new Royal Enfield Classic 350 will likely be delayed beyond April 2021. This would make volume recovery in the medium term more challenging than anticipated.
Royal Enfield’s original plan was to introduce one new product every quarter of this financial year and we have already entered the third quarter and nothing happened except multiple leaks of the Meteor 350. With competition stepping up, it is important for the medium-displacement specialist to get its new Classic 350 in the market at the earliest.

Entry level quarter liter variant axed
ET also reports that the entry-level volume oriented 250 cc product, internally known as Project V, has been shelved as the company has decided to prioritize profit market over outright sales numbers. The target is reported to be a 25% EBIDTA margin for 50,000 units a month. The company is planning to achieve this by improving its cost structure.
New Royal Enfield Classic 350 – Specifications
The next generation Classic 350 will be based on the new modular J Platform that will underpin the brand’s new family of 350 cc models. The test prototypes seemed to be sporting ad-hoc body panels but one can expect the new Classic to wear old-school charm while also offering modern features like LED headlamps, digital instrument console (at least partially digital unit), new paint schemes and so on. We hope that RE retains the spoke wheels and other chrome bits to keep the nostalgia alive.
The new generation 350 cc single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine will be shared with the soon-to-be-launched Meteor. The air-cooled motor produces 20.2 hp and 27 Nm of torque on board the Meteor. Transmission is a 5-speed unit.
We don’t expect the motor to undergo any significant changes on board the new Classic. It is reasonable to assume that the new Royal Enfield Classic will feature front and rear disc brakes with dual-channel ABS and conventional suspension system comprising telescopic front forks and twin rear shock absorbers. Expect prices to be in the range of Rs 1.6 lakhs to Rs 2 lakhs, ex-sh.

  • Royal Enfield Meteor Launch Delayed – Is Honda CB350 The Reason?

Royal Enfield Meteor 350 was planned for launch earlier this year – But has not seen the light of day yet

Eagerly awaited by Royal Enfield fans, Meteor 350 launch has been delayed yet again. This new gen Royal Enfield motorcycle was supposed to be a replacement to the Thunderbird range, which was discontinued ahead of BS6 implementation. Minus the Covid-19 situation, the Meteor was planned for launch in April 2020. But pandemic struck and plans were derailed.
Next reported launch date planned, was sometime in 3rd week of September 2020. Brochures had already leaked by then, revealing all information. Dealers were given detailed seminars over web. But then out of nowhere, came Honda Motorcycle India. Just when RE was all set to launch Meteor 350, Honda teased a cruiser motorcycle.
    Honda Surprises Royal Enfield?
And in a few days time, Honda launched their Royal Enfield rival, Highness CB350. No one was expecting Honda to launch this. There were rumours, yes. But a proper Royal Enfield rival from Honda, was expected to be more of a dream, than a reality. From first teaser to official launch, it was all so fast that not only fans, it seems that even Royal Enfield has been caught offguard by this move from Honda Motorcycle India.
    Customized Royal Enfield Meteor 350
Is Honda CB350 the reason why Royal Enfield has not launched Meteor 350 yet? We will never know the real reason. What we do know, is that the launch of Royal Enfield M350 has now been delayed yet again. Economic Times report states that the launch is now pushed beyond Diwali 2020, that effectively is end of the year 2020.
As per the report by ET, the reason for delay in launching RE is supply chain issues. Also, Royal Enfield is developing a new smartphone app, called MYO – Make Your Own Royal Enfield. They plan to launch the app along with the launch of Meteor 350. This explains, the leaked multiple customized editions of the Meteor 350.
RE’s official reponse to ET – “The company reviews and revises plans based on strategic considerations and market conditions. Beyond this, we cannot comment on speculation.
    Royal Enfield Meteor 350 features
Royal Enfield Meteor 350 will be offered in three variants – Fireball, Stellar and Supernova. Each of these variants will be distinguishable by their colour, body graphics, and list of features. For example, the top-spec Supernova trim will be equipped with dual-tone colour scheme, chrome indicators, machined alloy wheels, premium seat upholstery and a windscreen.
Features that will be common across all three variants of Meteor 350 include Tripper Navigation (turn-by-turn navigation), Bluetooth connectivity and USB charger. Another update is an all-new digi-analog instrument cluster that displays a wide range of information such as fuel bar graph, odometer / tripmeter, service reminder, gear indicator, low battery, low fuel indicator, turn indicators and high beam.
    Royal Enfield Meteor 350 engine
The current range of Royal Enfield motorcycles have already been updated to comply with BS6 emission norms. However, Meteor 350 will get a new BS6 engine that utilizes an SOHC setup. In comparison, the current 350 cc engine comes with the older push-rod tech.
Meteor 350’s new engine is capable of delivering 20.2 bhp of max power and 27 Nm of max torque. In comparison, the current 350 cc engine churns out 19.8 bhp and 28 Nm. So, the new engine gains 0.4 bhp whereas torque output has reduced by 1 Nm. Price is expected to be about Rs 1.7 lakhs, ex-sh.

  • Royal Enfield Sep 2020 Sales – Classic, Bullet, Electra, Himalayan, 650 Twins

Royal Enfield is gearing up to introduce its next generation range of 350 cc models
Royal Enfield seems to have found a new ray of hope as overall sales registered a positive trend. While 1% growth is negligible, the company has a strong reason to have a positive outlook on the future.
    Royal Enfield September 2020 sales

The retro classic brand ended September 2020 with overall sales of 60,041 units as against 59,500 units in September 2019. The figure includes both domestic and export volumes. Given that the company has phased out its 500 cc family after the BS6 deadline, its 350 cc family accounts for majority of the sales with a tally of 54,144 units. The Royal Enfield Himalayan, Continental GT 650 and Interceptor GT 650 together managed to clock 5,897 units last month.
For a company which aims to become the global leader of medium displacement motorcycle segment, Royal Enfield’s contribution of export to overall volumes is still very marginal. In September 2020, RE shipped 4,131 units abroad at a YoY decline of 11%. However, the brand’s twin-cylinder flagship models have been having a decent response internationally and once the pandemic-related logistics issues are sorted, the export numbers should steadily go up.
    Royal Enfield Sales Sep 2020
    Year-To-Date figures
The YTD figures still paint a bleak picture but that is primarily due to the preceding months when the country was in complete or partial lockdown. During the period between April 2020 to September 2020, Royal Enfield’s overall sales declined by 41% to 207,788 units. Export operations during the same period was halved at 11443.
What’s in store for the future?
As we said, Royal Enfield has a strong reason to look forward to a better future. The company is at the verge of introducing the next generation family of 350 cc models based on the new platform. The product onslaught will be spearheaded by Royal Enfield Meteor 350. Once the initial sales spurt from the new gen 350 models are normalized, the company would be beefing up its premium product portfolio with a 650 cruiser based on KX concept. The test mules are already out in public.
Royal Enfield recently inaugurated its first ever overseas assembly facility in Argentina and is likely to open another one in Thailand in the coming months. With the new facilities in place, the brand is aiming to increase its international presence in key motorcycle markets.
In a related news, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has just introduced a direct rival to RE’s 350 cc portfolio in the form of H’ness 350 (to be pronounced as Highness). Will it manage to create a dent in RE’s market share in the mid-weight segment in India is a question that will be answered in a few months. More

  • Indian Scout inspired Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 mod job costs Rs 2.5 Lakh

This Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 has turned into a splendid looking chopper which resembles an Indian Scout
Indian Motorcycles are famous all over the world for their classic choppers. While the name ‘Indian’ (referring to a different pretext) might make many naive Indians think of its as one of the local manufacturing brands while actually its a hardcore American bike manufacturing company.

The fact that these motorcycles are imported into our country as CBUs, make them on the pricier side and out of reach of most biking enthusiasts. However, a true enthusiast always finds a way if he/she has the will. Take this case for instance where an Indian Motorcycles aficionado has turned his bike into an Indian Scout replica using a truly ‘Indian’ brand as the donor.
In a video uploaded by Vampvideo on YouTube, the vlogger shows a Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 as the base for an Indian Scout Replica. By the looks of it, the aftermarket modification looks pretty neat and no one with a naked eye will ever doubt that it is not an Indian Scout at the first glance. It is only when one takes a close look that the minute differences can be noticed.
    [embedded content]
    Customised Design Elements
This modified Thunderbird 350 gets a completely customised hand-made chassis. The entire body has been redesigned keeping the Scout in mind. The headlight unit seems to have been directly taken from a Scout which gets small DRL units within the main cluster. It gets 150mm tyres with shiny black alloys at front while at rear it gets massive 250mm profile tyres similar to a conventional bobber. The front wheel gets a dual-disc brake while the rear gets a single disc.
The bike gets a customised cowl that holds the headlight unit. The entire bike has been coloured in Pearl Black which gives it a nice shine under the sun. The front and rear fenders are also wider to incorporate the wide tyres. It gets a twin-muffler exhaust setup with chrome-tipped end cans. The bass-heavy exhaust noise totally resembles that of a Royal Enfield.
    Price
As the vlogger claims the engine has been fully customised as well but details about it haven’t been shared in the video. It although gets a fake V-Twin engine cover which protects the single-cylinder 346cc unit from Thunderbird 350, in all probability. The handlebar has been customised to and minted on a raised bracket. It gets a monochrome full-digital instrument cluster. The fuel tank is very wide and flaunts the big ‘Indian’ logo quite boldly.
The single unit seat looks comfortable for the rider although there isn’t enough space for the pillion. The rear fender has been chopped short which enhances its sporty appeal. The registration plate has been mounted on the left swing-arm. However, there were no signs of any brake light unit. The bike has been sent from Gujarat as per the registration number. Cost involved in modification alone, is Rs 2.5 lakhs. More

  • Royal Enfield 650 Bobber based on Interceptor – Modified in Hyderabad

The modified Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 sports custom stainless steel exhausts and several other bespoke components
Royal Enfield is currently in the advanced stages of developing the third family member of its flagship 650 Twin family. The twin-cylinder cruiser was previewed by the KX Concept last year and a test mule has been spotted doing rounds recently. Meanwhile, Hyderabad-based EIMOR Customs (East India MOtorcycle Revolution) chose to execute its own version of RE 650 cruiser based on Interceptor rather than waiting for the official product to be introduced.
    Royal Enfield 650 Bobber Regale

Called the Regale, the modified Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 adopts extensive customization. The roadster stance has been transformed into a low-slung Bobber appearance by repositioning the rear shocks, getting rid of the stock seat and replacing it with a leather clad single-piece unit.
The fuel tank gets knee pads that match the saddle in addition to tastefully executed golden borders. The black-gold color theme is extended to the custom fender and tool boxes which pay tribute to world war era ammo boxes. Watch the modified INT 650 Bobber in action, in the video below.
    [embedded content]
The modified Royal Enfield Interceptor also features custom single-dial instrument console, aftermarket tyres, custom stainless steel twin exhausts and new handlebar. The saddle-mounted rear turn indicators and license plate-mounted taillight give the Regale 650 a unique appeal. EIMOR Customs says that the motorcycle’s battery and air-filter box had to be relocated to accommodate the new body style.
    Specifications
There seems to be no changes to the engine, gearbox, braking and suspension system. The stock Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 is powered by a parallel-twin, air-cooled 648 cc engine which dishes out 47 hp and 52 Nm of torque. The motor is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The 650 Twin makes for effortless and smooth highway cruising.

The motorcycle is equipped with 41 mm front telescopic forks with 110 mm travel and twin rear shock absorbers with 88mm travel. It sits on 18 inch spoke wheels. Braking system comprises 320 mm front and 240 mm rear disc, both governed by ABS.
    Royal Enfield 650 Cruiser coming
Royal Enfield is currently occupied in bringing the new generation of its 350 cc motorcycles based on the modular J-Platform to the market. The launch proceedings will commence with Meteor 350.
The 650 cc twin-cylinder cruiser is expected to be introduced sometime next year. It will be positioned to take on the locally produced Harley Davidson Street 750 but one can expect the pricing to be a lot more attractive. Meanwhile, Honda is also gearing up to introduce a medium displacement motorcycle which is most likely to be a cruiser. We will know for sure on 30th September. More
